The Hulu Tile in Your Disney+ Is Not Hulu
Open Disney+ in the United Kingdom and there is a Hulu tile, included, at no extra charge. It appeared on 8 October 2025, and it did not arrive with new content — it is the Star hub that was already there, wearing a different name. Disney says as much plainly on its Canadian site: the Star tile “has now been renamed the ‘Hulu’ tile”.
US Hulu is a different product. It has its own app, its own subscription, a larger library and a live television service, and Disney’s subscriber agreement places it in the United States and certain of its territories. The two things share a name and very little else.
Disney+ United Kingdom, read 16 September 2026: “Hulu sits alongside Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Nat Geo and Star Wars on Disney+.”
Read the source Disney+ Canada, same date, saying what the rename was: “under our ‘Star’ tile, which has now been renamed the ‘Hulu’ tile”

The one thing this page refuses to tell you. You will find articles confidently stating that the UK Hulu tile has “only a fraction” of the US library, and others saying it is “essentially the same”. Disney has published no catalogue comparison, so both are guesses dressed as facts. What is documented is in the table above. Where a number would be useful and does not exist, saying so is more useful than inventing one.
None of this is a complaint about the rename. Reusing a strong brand across markets is an ordinary commercial decision. It just means that from October 2025 onwards, the sentence “I have Hulu” stopped having one meaning, and a great deal of advice written for American readers stopped applying cleanly to British ones.
