Australia is the one market in this set where the honest first move is to stop you spending money. Live ESPN and ESPN2 have been inside Disney+ here since March 2025, at no additional charge on the plans most people hold.
Before anything else, open Disney+ and look for the ESPN tile. ESPN launched on Disney+ in Australia and New Zealand on 26 March 2025, and Disney’s own announcement says all Premium and Standard subscribers get it at no additional charge. If the sport you want is on ESPN or ESPN2, you may already be paying for it. A residential US IP is only worth considering once you know the Australian tile does not carry what you are after.

That is the sentence that should decide your next step. If you hold Disney+ Premium or Standard in Australia, the ESPN tile is part of what you already pay for, and the question is not how to reach America — it is whether the Australian tile carries your specific sport.
Foxtel and Kayo hold a separate ESPN arrangement, extended in a multi-year deal, so there is a second Australian route that has nothing to do with Disney+ either.
The Australian tile is live ESPN and ESPN2 plus the studio and original library. ESPN Unlimited in the United States, at $31.99 a month, is a broader package including ESPN on ABC events. Whether the difference matters depends entirely on the fixture you care about.
We are not putting a number on how much more the US plan carries, because the two line-ups move independently and any figure would be out of date before it was useful. Check the specific event on both.
This section is easy to misread in Australia, because you may already have ESPN legitimately. The agreement below governs the American service, not the tile inside Disney+ Australia.

That sentence is about ESPN the American subscription. It is not a statement that Australians cannot watch ESPN content — Disney sells you some of it here, through Disney+, under a separate arrangement.
The travel clause is worth reading for a different reason: it is the one that covers taking a Disney+ subscription abroad.
“This Agreement applies if you purchase a subscription to the Disney+ Service in the U.S. and any supported U.S. territories and use it in other geographic locations where the Disney+ Service is made available.”

If you hold Disney+ Australia and travel, that clause is the relevant one, and it concerns the Disney+ Service. The American ESPN subscription is governed by the sentence above it. Two products, two rules.
Compare these against your Disney+ tile rather than against nothing. For many Australian viewers the tile already covers the fixture.

These are ESPN’s standalone US prices, checked 20 September 2026. They rose on 17 September 2026; subscribers from before 20 August 2026 keep the old price until their first billing date after that.
Before paying either of these, open Disney+ and check whether the event is on the Australian ESPN tile you already have. That is the single most expensive mistake available on this page.
This list assumes you have already looked at the Disney+ tile. If you have not, do that first — most of what follows becomes irrelevant.
