The cleanest way to see what an Australian MGM subscription is not is to line up 2026 against Britain and Germany.
During 2026 MGM+ released three new series. In the United Kingdom and in Germany all three landed on MGM+, the Prime Video add-on. In Australia all three landed on Stan.

It is not only the new ones. Stan has Billy the Kid — its own newsroom announced the final season as arriving “only on Stan” — and FROM, which Stan bought from Paramount’s international distribution arm back in 2022. Godfather of Harlem is on Stan and Disney+. The Emperor of Ocean Park went to BINGE in July 2024 and then Foxtel Showcase.
The most revealing one is Hotel Cocaine, because Stan does not describe it as an acquisition at all:

An MGM+ Studios production, distributed internationally by Amazon MGM, and branded a Stan Original Series in a market where Amazon sells an MGM channel of its own. That is the licensing logic of this whole page in one sentence.
One honest exception, because it cuts the other way. Beacon 23 is on Prime Video in Australia, included with Prime rather than sold as an add-on. That is Amazon keeping a title one paywall over from MGM+, not selling it to a competitor, and it is a weaker example than the Stan and BINGE titles. It belongs on the list for completeness rather than as evidence.

Two things about the Australian product could not be settled, and both are worth stating rather than smoothing over.
The first is the name. Amazon MGM’s press boilerplate names Canada as an MGM+ market explicitly, separately from its regional groupings — and never names Australia. Australian trade press does: a September 2025 report lists “MGM+” among the Prime Video add-ons sold here. But the channel launched in November 2021 and the trade description at the time was a classic-film library — Fargo, Rocky, Legally Blonde, Stargate SG-1, Teen Wolf — which is the older plain MGM product, not MGM+.
Amazon’s storefronts refuse automated reading, so this guide could not confirm which name the Australian add-on is sold under today. It matters less than it sounds: whichever it is, the catalogue contains none of MGM+’s originals.

One plan, one price, no advertising tier. That simplicity is itself a difference: the American service is a single subscription to a single catalogue, and the thing people are usually chasing is that catalogue and its release dates rather than a cheaper tier.
The five-service bundle launched on 15 September 2026 and Amazon’s own announcement scopes it to the United States. It has not been extended anywhere else.

What Amazon actually publishes about where MGM+ is sold — and what it does not publish, which matters just as much.
There is no MGM+ availability list. Neither Amazon nor MGM+ publishes a page naming the countries it serves, which is the first thing to know if you are trying to check any of this yourself. What Amazon publishes instead is a count, in the boilerplate at the foot of its press releases:

Treat the number with care, because Amazon’s own figures disagree with each other. The regions have not changed in any release since February, so the regions are what this page relies on: the United States, Europe, Latin America, Asia-Pacific and Canada. Africa and the Middle East have never appeared in any of them.
There is a second published list that is more useful, because it is a hard limit rather than a claim. Outside America, MGM+ is sold almost entirely as an add-on subscription inside Prime Video — so the countries where Amazon sells add-ons at all are the ceiling on where MGM+ can reach:

One more distinction, because it catches people out. The plain MGM channel Amazon has sold for years in several countries is an older library-film channel and is not MGM+. And an MGM-branded television channel abroad is neither: MGM sold its international channel business in 2012, AMC Networks bought it in 2014 and renamed those channels AMC.
