ABC in Mainland China: Oscars Coverage, Local Rights and Replays

01Use the territory list for the year of the ceremony

The Academy’s international list names broadcasters by territory for the March 2026 ceremony. It also lists Taiwan separately. A Shenzhen viewer across the border from Hong Kong should not treat a ViuTV schedule as proof of a mainland stream. The absence of a mainland listing means that this directory does not confirm a partner. It does not establish that no separately licensed coverage or reporting existed.

For a future ceremony, start with the new edition’s broadcaster announcement. An old stream link or a service showing last year’s acceptance clips is poor evidence that it can carry next year’s live show.

02Match the Chinese search to what you want

Search 第98届奥斯卡金像奖 for the 98th ceremony. Add 获奖名单 for the winners, 获奖感言 for an acceptance speech, or 完整回放 for a full replay. Check the edition, running time and publisher on the result. A red-carpet broadcast, awards commentary or a collection of speeches can all be genuine videos without being the ceremony.

The Academy’s official 2026 page has winners by category and selected highlights. If the film had a different Chinese release title, use its English title and the category to identify the same nominee. You can check the written result even if a particular clip is unavailable on your device.

03Why the American date can look wrong

Disney’s U.S. viewing announcement placed the start at 7 p.m. Eastern on Sunday, March 15, 2026. In Beijing that was Monday, March 16 at 7 a.m. U.S. daylight saving time was already in effect. A mainland listing dated the 16th and an American result dated the 15th can therefore describe the same ceremony. The preshow started separately.

04If ABC asks you to verify a provider

ABC describes verification for participating television providers on locked episodes and supported live programming. The sign-in belongs to the provider carrying the channel. A hotel cable package, a mainland streaming membership and a network-address subscription do not supply those U.S. account credentials. Disney also offered the 2026 ceremony on Hulu in its U.S. announcement. That was a route for that edition and market, not a mainland purchase option.
