NBC Olympics in Mainland China: Where to Find Events and Replays

USip Editorial · Updated

For Olympic competition footage in mainland China, start with China Media Group and CCTV. The IOC awarded CMG the mainland and Macau media rights for the 2026, 2028, 2030 and 2032 Games. NBC’s American broadcast is a different production with its own commentary, timetable and account requirements.

Find the event instead of searching for the NBC channel

For the February 2026 Winter Games, open CCTV’s Milano Cortina coverage. Search 花样滑冰 for figure skating, 短道速滑 for short-track speed skating, or 自由式滑雪 for freestyle skiing. Add the athlete’s name and the specific round. A search for figure skating alone can return everything from a team-event recap to a women’s free-skate clip.

Once you find a result, read its running time and description. An athlete profile, a medal presentation and an entire competition session are different programmes. Look for 完整回放 or 全场回放 if you want the full session. Availability of a past replay can change even though the event remains in the archive.

Viewing checklist

Three checks before you watch

  1. Pick the discipline and round

Select 花样滑冰 for figure skating, then distinguish the team event from the individual competition.

  2. Check the time zone

CCTV labels the schedule with venue time. An 8 p.m. February start in Italy was 3 a.m. the next day in Beijing.

  3. Look for the full session

A medal presentation and a complete final can have the same athlete’s name. Compare the title and duration.

Read the clock printed on the Chinese schedule

CCTV lets you filter its Olympic schedule by date, venue, discipline or the Chinese team. The schedule explicitly labels event times as local to the competition venue. For Milano Cortina in February, Italy used UTC+1 and Beijing used UTC+8. An 8 p.m. start in Italy was 3 a.m. the following day in Beijing. If the event seems absent on one date, check both sides of midnight before assuming the archive is incomplete.

What the IOC agreement actually covers

The IOC announcement expressly names mainland China and Macau. This is one case in which Macau is in the same rights grant. The sentence does not assign Hong Kong or Taiwan to that grant. It also concerns Olympic Games, not every world championship featuring an Olympic sport. For a World Cup skiing event outside the Games, look up the organiser’s broadcast partners for that event.

If you want NBC’s own commentary

NBC’s U.S. primetime presentation selects events, interviews and commentary. Even when CCTV covers the same competition, the camera choices, studio segments and commentators can differ. NBC’s Winter Games FAQ explains the U.S. viewing options and television-provider authentication. A participating-provider password and a Peacock subscription are different ways of obtaining eligible American content. Neither is included with a mainland hotel television or a USip plan. Check whether you need that exact programme before spending money.

Connection setup by device

The setup videos cover a U.S. connection on your own device. They cannot add NBC’s Olympic commentary to a CMG feed or supply a participating TV-provider login.

If the video player does not load on your network, open the written instructions for your device.

USip connection plans

USip sells the network connection separately. Check the service’s location rules and the account needed for your title before choosing a plan. The price below covers USip only.

Common questions

Can I use the IOC agreement to assume every Los Angeles 2028 event already has a replay link?

No. The rights award identifies the broadcaster. Session schedules, channels and replay windows for particular events require a later broadcaster listing.

Why does a CCTV search show a different day from the listing on NBC?

Check whether each date describes the competition, a delayed U.S. primetime show or the local Chinese broadcast. For the 2026 Winter Games the event schedule on CCTV uses Italian local time.
