Discovery+ in Spain: Which Edition Has What, and What a US IP Really Changes

There is a question worth settling before any of the technical ones: which Discovery+ do you actually want? The brand covers editions that hold different content, and the United States edition — the one a US connection points at — contains no sport whatsoever.

Discovery+ has not been sold in Spain since December 2024. This page covers where it still operates, which edition carries what, what Discovery+’s own terms say about location, and precisely which layer a residential US IP address moves.

Before anything else

Three Different Things Are Called Discovery+, and Only One Is the US One

This is the section that may save you the price of a subscription, so it goes first. “Discovery+” is one brand covering editions that are not the same product. They carry different content, they are sold in different markets, and in one case they are not even run by the same company.

If what you are after is a Warner Bros. Discovery sports feed, the United States edition is the wrong target. It has no sport in it at all.

The short version. A residential US IP address points at the entertainment edition. If the programme you want is a sports feed, no network setting produces it, because it is not in the catalogue a US connection reaches.
Where Discovery+ actually operates

The Discovery+ Map, and Where Spain Sits On It

Spain is a former Discovery+ market. It closed in December 2024, in the same wave that took several neighbouring markets, and there is no Spanish Discovery+ service today.

The shape of that list changed twice in two years, which is why so much written about Discovery+ is now out of date. HBO Max arrived across Europe, and sport began moving off Discovery+ and onto it. An article from 2024 about which Discovery+ carries which competition is not slightly stale; it is describing arrangements that have since been dismantled.

Warner Bros. Discovery Sports, 11 February 2026: “Discovery+: streaming of every event feed from the Winter Olympics in all plans in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany and Austria, Select plans in Norway and Sweden; and in Italy on the Sport tier only.” Read the source

This table deliberately ignores Discovery+’s own availability list. That list, on the US help centre, still includes Canada — where Warner Bros. Discovery closed its service in February 2026 — and omits Norway and Sweden. A stale source from the company is still a stale source, so the figures above come from its dated February 2026 sports release.

Read that table as a list of different products rather than a list of flags. The German and Austrian editions carry Eurosport 1 and 2. The Italian edition sells sport as its own tier. Norway and Sweden carry it on selected plans only. The United Kingdom carried it until 26 March 2026 and now does not. The United States never did.

What ‘may shift’ actually means

Catalogues Move With Location — They Do Not Become Identical

Discovery+ is unusually direct about this, and the wording repays attention. It does not promise that reaching the service from elsewhere delivers that market’s full library. It says the content and features shift.

Shift is the operative word. A shifted catalogue is not the same as the local catalogue, and it is not the same as the one you left. It is whatever the rights allow at that moment, for that location, on that plan.

US Terms of Use, on accessing the Platform from elsewhere: “When you are accessing the Platform outside of your Home Country, the Content, Content Ratings, and other features and functionality of the Platform may shift based on your location.” Read the source

Rights are bought market by market

A programme in the US edition is there because someone licensed it for the United States. The same programme may sit with a different broadcaster in Spain entirely, on a different service, under a different name.

A title missing is usually a rights question, not a connection one.

Plans divide the catalogue too

Discovery+ notes that access to content can depend on the subscription plan as well as location. Two people on the same connection, on different plans, will not necessarily see the same thing.

Check the plan before blaming the network.

Household rules sit on top of all of it

Discovery+ writes that profiles are limited to household members, as it determines. That is an account rule and it applies regardless of where the connection appears to come from.

No network setting is a household.

US Terms of Use, on profiles: “Authorized Profiles are limited to members of your household, as determined by us in our discretion.” Read the source
Straight from the documents

What Discovery+ Ties to the Account

Underneath the question of which edition holds what, there is a simpler one that Discovery+ answers directly: which country does a subscription belong to? The answer is fixed at purchase, and everything else on this page follows from it.

US Terms of Use, updated 23 June 2025, defining the term: “The particular country or territory where you subscribe to Discovery+ is known as your ‘Home Country.’” Read the source

Note what the definition does not depend on: where you happen to be, or what country your connection announces. It depends on where the subscription was taken out. Spain stopped being such a place in December 2024, and no procedure for moving a Home Country afterwards appears anywhere in either document.

What you have here is a selection. This guide quotes the clauses that bear on the questions it sets out to answer; Discovery+’s terms contain a good deal more than that. Both documents sit directly above, linked whole and unedited. Nothing here is a substitute for reading them, and they are the authority wherever this page and they disagree.
The honest boundary

What a Residential US IP Changes, and What It Does Not

Four layers decide what you see. A connection is one of them, and knowing which is what stops a licensing problem from being mistaken for a network one.

It can help with

  • Replacing a Spanish public IP with a residential US connection
  • Presenting one consistent network country while a page loads
  • Telling a location signal apart from a plan or rights question
  • Checking the result in a browser before configuring a television

It cannot provide

  • Sport in an edition that does not carry any
  • A Discovery+ account or a US subscription
  • A Spanish Discovery+ service — that market closed in 2024
  • A different app store region on any device
LayerWhat it controlsDoes a residential US IP move it?
Network locationWhich country your connection announces when Discovery+ loads a page or an appYes. One layer of four, and the only one any connection can affect.
Your account’s Home CountryWhere a subscription was purchased — the country Discovery+ regards as its homeNo. Discovery+ fixes this at the point of purchase and documents no way to change it afterwards.
Catalogue and feature rightsWhat a given market holds the rights to show, and what a given plan includesNot directly. The company’s own verb is “shift”. A shifted catalogue is not the local one and not the one you came from.
The app store on your deviceWhether your store account is offered the app at allNo. Store regions are set on the device and the store account, somewhere a network route never reaches.
A controlled, browser-first workflow

A Ten-Minute Test That Tells You Which Layer You Are On

Run this before deciding anything. It is designed to produce a specific answer rather than a working stream, which is the more useful outcome when four different things can produce the same symptom.

01

Decide what you are testing for

Write down the actual programme you want. If it is a sports feed, stop here: the US edition does not carry sport, and the rest of this test cannot change that. If it is factual or reality programming, carry on.

Result: you are testing the right thing, or you have saved yourself the money.

02

Quit Discovery+ before changing the connection

Close every tab and quit the app first. A live session keeps whatever country it started with, and you will spend the next twenty minutes debugging a stored value rather than a network route.

Result: nothing carried over from the previous state.

03

Connect, then verify the country independently

Bring up the residential US connection and confirm with a public-IP checker that the reported country is the United States. Do this before opening Discovery+, not after.

Result: the network layer is confirmed rather than assumed.

04

Open one ordinary title in a private window

Private windows start clean. Choose one plain on-demand programme, and read the exact words of anything that comes back — a page that will not load, a title that will not play, and a sign-in that is refused are three different diagnoses.

Result: a named symptom you can act on.

If the country reads United States and it still does not work, the network layer is not your problem. What remains is the account, the subscription plan and the licensing — and a connection cannot supply any of the three.

Where each device actually stops you

Device by Device, and What Fails on Each

Desktop browsers show you what is happening. Phones, tablets and televisions add a store layer and a cache layer on top, which is why they are poor places to run a first test.

Windows

Windows: where to start

Import the USip profile, connect, confirm the reported country, then open a browser. Nothing sits between you and the service here, which is exactly what you want from a first test.

Check in this order

  • Country confirmed by an independent checker
  • A private window with no stored hints
  • One ordinary on-demand title, nothing event-based
  • The exact wording of any message, written down

Step by step

For the connection itself, work through the USip Windows guide first. This page picks up where that one stops — at the point Discovery+ starts making decisions.

Mac

Mac: check what else is running

macOS has privacy features that quietly change what a site sees, and a browser extension can do the same. Anything running alongside the connection will muddy the result.

Check in this order

  • No second relay or privacy service active
  • Country verified after connecting
  • Two browsers compared, not one
  • Discovery+ site data cleared beforehand

Step by step

For the connection itself, work through the USip Mac guide first. This page picks up where that one stops — at the point Discovery+ starts making decisions.

iPhone and iPad

iPhone and iPad: the store decides first

On iOS the app either exists for your store account or it does not, and that is settled before any network question. Safari separates the two cleanly.

Check in this order

  • Is the app offered to your store account?
  • Safari first, app second
  • Connection confirmed on the device itself
  • Install failure and playback failure recorded separately

Step by step

For the connection itself, work through the USip iOS guide first. This page picks up where that one stops — at the point Discovery+ starts making decisions.

Android

Android: Google Play applies its own logic

Play availability follows the account, not the connection, and sideloading does not change what Discovery+ serves. Chrome on the same handset is the control.

Check in this order

  • Play availability for your account, first
  • Chrome on the device as a comparison
  • Any per-app connection rules reviewed
  • App cache cleared before a retest

Step by step

For the connection itself, work through the USip Android guide first. This page picks up where that one stops — at the point Discovery+ starts making decisions.

What USip provides is one residential US IP address: a consumer line on a US internet provider instead of a datacentre block. In the four-layer table further up, it moves the first row and leaves the other three untouched.

What you are buying, precisely. A residential US IP connection and nothing beyond it. No Discovery+ account, no subscription, and no influence whatever over which programmes Discovery+ has licensed in which country. Those decisions belong to Warner Bros. Discovery, under the terms quoted above.
What the US service costs

US Discovery+ Plans and Prices

The United States service has two plans. They are listed here because a page about reaching something should say what the something costs, and because the figures ought to come from the company rather than from a rounding.

US planMonthly priceAdvertisingDownloads
Discovery+$5.99Limited adsNot listed
Discovery+ (Ad-Free)$9.99No standard adsOffline mobile downloads
Neither figure is a live quote. Discovery+ notes that tax is extra, and the help-centre page these come from carries no date of last update. The pricing page on discoveryplus.com itself could not be retrieved during this check. Confirm the current price at the source before you rely on it.
Read the message before changing anything

Four Messages, Four Different Causes

Read what is on screen before changing a setting. Each of these points somewhere different, and three of the four are not network problems at all.

An availability or location message when the page loads

Likely layer: public IP, a stored country value, a DNS route, or a second privacy tool running at the same time

Next check: quit Discovery+, verify the reported country independently, retry once in a clean private window

Everything loads but one programme will not play

Likely layer: rights, not location. Discovery+ says content and features may shift by location — a specific title missing is the normal shape of that

Next check: try a second ordinary on-demand title before touching the connection at all

A sports feed is nowhere to be found

Likely layer: the edition. The US Discovery+ carries no sport, and TNT Sports left Discovery+ for HBO Max in March 2026

Next check: check the table at the top of this page — this one is not fixable by any network change

The app will not install on a phone or television

Likely layer: the store region, which belongs to the device and the store account

Next check: run the same test in a desktop browser; if the browser works, the network was never the obstacle

Discovery+ publishes a geo-availability page whose entire visible message is: “Discovery+ is Not Available Here Yet” Read the source
What that quotation does and does not establish. The page is published by Discovery+ and the words above were read from it directly — but from a United States connection asking for the address by name. That is not the same as watching a Spanish visitor arrive there, so this page does not claim the second thing. It was also the only Discovery+ geo-block wording found published anywhere.
The questions that actually get asked about Spain

Discovery+ in Spain — Questions People Actually Ask

Each answer traces to a quotation on this page or to a source in the list below. Where nothing was established, the answer says so.

Is Discovery+ available in Spain?

No. Discovery+ closed in Spain in December 2024, in the same wave that closed several neighbouring European markets. Warner Bros. Discovery published a notice for the Danish closure in that wave; the Spanish one is reported by trade press rather than by a company notice this guide could retrieve.

Does the US Discovery+ include Eurosport?

No. The United States edition is real-life entertainment and carries no sport at all. Eurosport 1 and 2 are on the German and Austrian editions, and Italy sells sport as its own tier. A US network location does not reach any of them.

Where did TNT Sports go?

To HBO Max, on 26 March 2026. TNT Sports published the change itself: it is no longer available to stream on Discovery+. That applies to the Discovery+ service generally, not only to one market.

Does Discovery+ permit using a VPN or similar tool?

That is settled by Discovery+'s Terms of Use, not by a guide summarising them. The US and international documents are both linked whole in the Sources section below, and between them they set out what Discovery+ allows. Read them first.

Will I get the full US catalogue with a US connection?

Discovery+ does not say that. It says content and features may shift based on location. Shifting is not matching, and rights are bought market by market, so a given title may sit with a different service in Spain entirely.

Is the Discovery+ in Canada the same service?

No. Warner Bros. Discovery closed its own Canadian service on 17 February 2026. A different Discovery+, operated by Rogers Sports & Media, now uses the brand there. It is a different company's product.

How many people can watch at once?

Discovery+'s help centre states up to four devices at once, and its terms note the number can vary by plan. Profiles are separately limited to members of your household, as Discovery+ determines.

What exactly does a residential US IP change?

The country your connection reports when a page or app loads. Not your account's Home Country, not what any market is licensed to show, and not the region of an app store. Those are the other three layers in the table above.

Every quote on this page, and where it came from

Sources

Everything quoted above comes from one of these documents. Where a claim could not be traced to one, this page says so where it matters rather than burying it here.

What this page does not claim. Nothing here asserts anything about Eurosport or HBO Max in the Spanish market specifically — that was not researched, so it is not stated. The Spanish closure is well reported but the only company-published notice retrieved for that wave is Danish. The geo-availability wording was read from a US connection requesting the address directly, so this page does not claim it is what a Spanish visitor is sent to. And Discovery+’s live pricing page could not be loaded, so the figures come from a help-centre page carrying no last-updated date. Checked 14 September 2026.

Settle which edition you want before you settle anything technical. If the answer is factual and reality programming, the ten-minute test above tells you which layer stands between you and it. If the answer is sport, the US edition is the wrong target and no connection changes that.

What USip sells is a residential US IP connection, and nothing else. Which edition of Discovery+ holds which programme is decided by Warner Bros. Discovery and by the rights it has bought, market by market.
