USip VPN for Mac

A US connection for your Mac

Connect your Mac before opening the US website or streaming service you want to use. Your assigned public address comes from a real home broadband connection in the United States.

See how our residential US IP VPN service works, or go straight to the device setup guide when you are ready to connect.

Residential US IP

Your VPN traffic exits through real US home broadband. Residential describes where the address comes from; VPN describes the connection method.

Exclusive while assigned

No other USip customer uses your assigned public IP simultaneously. The address is dynamic, rather than a permanent fixed IP.

Get connected

Start with a subscription, then set up your Mac

You need an active USip VPN subscription or trial before your USip profile can connect. Installing OpenVPN Connect by itself does not provide the service.

Check your US IP

Know what to expect

  • One VPN connection at a time. Disconnect one device before connecting another.
  • No city or state selection. USip assigns your US location automatically.
  • No permanent fixed IP. Reconnect within 15 minutes to receive the same IP.
  • Real-world speed varies. Distance, local broadband, Wi-Fi and network conditions can affect performance.

Setting up a TV?

Setting up Apple TV instead of a Mac? Apple TV and other TV-like devices use USip Smart DNS on the device or router. Use the Smart DNS guide and register your home network’s public IP.

Open the Smart DNS guide

Smart DNS is different from the VPN connection described on this page: it does not create a VPN tunnel or provide VPN encryption.

Questions before you start

USip VPN for Mac: FAQs

Is OpenVPN Connect the same as USip VPN?

No. OpenVPN Connect is the app installed on your Mac. USip supplies the VPN service, your connection profile and service credentials. Import your USip profile into the app and follow the Mac setup guide.

Does the Mac setup also configure Apple TV?

No. The Mac guide is for macOS. Apple TV and other TV-like devices use USip Smart DNS, configured on the device or router, with the home network’s public IP registered for DNS access.

Can I choose a US city or keep the same IP permanently?

No. USip assigns the US location automatically and does not offer a permanent fixed IP. If you reconnect within 15 minutes, you receive the same IP address; reconnecting does not always change it.

Is the public IP shared with other USip customers?

Your assigned public IP is exclusive to one USip customer at a time. It is a dynamically assigned address, so this is different from a permanent dedicated IP.

Will every US streaming service work?

Playback depends on the service, account, subscription, device and current restrictions. Use your own streaming account and any required subscription. Check our dated streaming test results for the service and setup you want to use.

What happens after the 3-day free trial?

A payment method is required. After the trial, the subscription renews at the billing interval you choose: €9.99 monthly, €39 every six months or €69 annually. Cancel before the trial ends to avoid the first charge.
