Short answer: AMC+ has never launched in the United Kingdom. AMC's own help centre lists the markets in one line — “AMC+ is available in: The US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand.” — and Britain is not among them. That is not a temporary outage or a licensing gap you can wait out; the service has simply never been sold here.
But AMC does sell in Britain, and this is the part most guides miss. Shudder and Acorn TV are both officially available in the UK, on their own subscriptions, from AMC. If what you actually want is the horror library or the British-drama library, you can buy it here, legitimately, today — and a residential U.S. IP is solving a problem you do not have.

AMC+ bundles Shudder, Sundance Now and IFC Films Unlimited with the AMC originals and six live channels. That combined product is not on sale in Britain, and no British subscription assembles it.
This is the honest order of operations: check whether Shudder or Acorn TV covers what you want, because in the UK they are legitimate, local and cheaper than solving a network problem. We would rather lose the sale than sell you a connection you do not need.

Because two AMC services genuinely are. Shudder and Acorn TV both sell UK subscriptions, and HIDIVE does too. What is not sold here is AMC+, the bundle. The confusion is understandable and it is worth resolving before you spend anything.
No, and this catches people out. AMC states it directly: “Your AMC+ sign-in credentials will not work on the individual site and apps for Shudder, Sundance Now, and AMC.” The bundle works one way — Shudder's content appears inside the AMC+ app — and an AMC+ account is not a Shudder account.
