Discovery+ UK still exists—but TNT Sports has moved

In the UK, discovery+ remains an entertainment service. TNT Sports moved to HBO Max on 26 March 2026. If the match has disappeared from your discovery+ app, changing your IP address is not the first step: check which company sold your subscription and activate the right viewing app.

This guide separates three easily confused products: discovery+ Entertainment, TNT Sports on HBO Max, and HBO Max entertainment plans. They are not interchangeable subscriptions. Check the current discovery+ UK plan.

Sky, BT and EE: check existing benefits first

Sky Q, Sky Glass and Sky Stream

If discovery+ is included in your Sky plan, activate that benefit first. For subsequent sign-in, the discovery+ app on the Sky device shows a six-digit code: leave that screen open while completing the sign-in on your phone or computer. BT TV is not the same as EE Mobile

BT says its TNT Sports channels in the TV Guide were unaffected by the streaming-app move. An unactivated customer must activate through the BT account. Keep a simple record: supplier, subscription name, viewing app, renewal date. This is more useful than collecting several logins and guessing which one owns the subscription.

Compare the commitment, not only the monthly figure

HBO Max lists standalone TNT Sports at £30.99 on standard monthly billing, or £25.99 per month for 12 months on the Saver plan. The latter is a 12-month commitment paid in instalments—not a cancel-anytime monthly offer. The published instalments total £311.88 across the committed year.

HBO Max entertainment can be separate from sports, and different parties can bill the two subscriptions. Check the Subscription screen and the seller’s checkout before changing anything. TNT Sports prices and billing.

Our practical comparison: list the viewing you need over the next year, subtract benefits already included in your TV or mobile package, then compare the remaining total. An annual commitment may be poor value if you only need a short part of a season.

If you only need discovery+ entertainment

You can subscribe directly, through a supported discovery+ app, or through Prime Video Channels. With the latter, discovery+ is watched inside Prime Video rather than in the separate discovery+ app. For direct UK checkout, discovery+ advises using a UK-issued card if payment fails and says prepaid cards are not supported. Search for the exact programme and season on the UK service.
Check whether your existing household package includes it.
Choose the viewing app that is available on your actual television.
Save the receipt and confirm where renewal is managed.

A series appearing in search does not prove every episode is in your plan. Open the episode you intend to watch before committing to a longer subscription.

A quick diagnosis when the wrong screen appears

A subscribe button despite an active payment: compare the signed-in email and seller with the receipt. An entitlement in one app may not exist in another.
Entertainment works but sport is locked: check the sports entitlement rather than reinstalling discovery+ repeatedly.
Sport works but an HBO drama is locked: inspect the entertainment plan; a successful sports login is not proof that all films and series are included.
The TV cannot find the new app: verify the model against the provider’s supported-device list before buying replacement hardware.

If you contact support, include the billing route, plan name, device model and exact error—not your password or full card number.

When a U.S. IP is relevant—and when it is not

USA-IP is a separate network service. It is not required to use a normal UK discovery+ subscription in the UK, cannot restore an expired TNT Sports entitlement and cannot move your billing from Amazon, Sky or BT.

If you have a separate, eligible U.S. streaming account and are investigating U.S.-specific access, first confirm the exact programme, account requirements and provider rules. Has discovery+ closed in the UK?

No. Its Entertainment plan remains available. The sports move is not the closure of the entire UK service.

Can I still watch TNT Sports in discovery+?

No. For current streaming access, follow the HBO Max or provider route associated with your subscription.

Is Amazon Appstore the same as Prime Video Channels?

No. Check the precise product on your receipt; the migration outcomes differ.

Will a new U.S. IP fix a subscribe message?

Not if the problem is the wrong account, viewing app or plan. Start with entitlement checks.

Should I buy another subscription immediately?

First identify any existing package benefit and complete activation. This reduces the risk of paying twice for the same viewing.
