Check Shudder and Acorn TV first — in Britain they are the official answer

How to Watch AMC+ in the UK

Short answer: AMC+ has never launched in the United Kingdom. AMC's own help centre lists the markets in one line — “AMC+ is available in: The US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand.” — and Britain is not among them. That is not a temporary outage or a licensing gap you can wait out; the service has simply never been sold here.

But AMC does sell in Britain, and this is the part most guides miss. Shudder and Acorn TV are both officially available in the UK, on their own subscriptions, from AMC. If what you actually want is the horror library or the British-drama library, you can buy it here, legitimately, today — and a residential U.S. IP is solving a problem you do not have.

The rest of this page is for the case where that is not enough: where you want AMC+ itself, the bundle as sold in the United States. A residential U.S. IP changes the network-location layer. It does not create an AMC+ account, move a subscription you bought somewhere else, or change which app store your device is signed in to.

AMC, AMC+ and BT explained

Can you watch AMC in the UK without BT?

You do not need a BT or cable package for a standalone AMC+ subscription in a supported country. AMC+ confirms that you can subscribe directly. UK availability is a separate question: its current supported-country list names the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, not the UK.

The AMC TV channel and the AMC+ streaming subscription are different ways to watch. A TV-provider sign-in for AMC is not a requirement for a standalone AMC+ account. The current EE TV channel guide, checked October 20, does not list AMC, so old instructions to add the AMC channel through BT should not be treated as a current subscription route.

Check the title and season you want first. If you already have a suitable AMC+ subscription and want to assess the USip connection, go to what you need to watch AMC+ with USip.

AMC+ is not a US-only service — but it is not a British one either

It is worth being precise about this, because “AMC+ is US-only” is repeated constantly and it is wrong. AMC+ runs in four markets. The UK is not one of them, and neither is most of the world.

“AMC+ is available in: The US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand.”

AMC+ Help Centre — Where is AMC+ available?

HIDIVEYesSold in the UK. Anime; unrelated to the AMC+ bundle.

AMC also says the catalogue is not the same everywhere it does sell: “The content selection varies somewhat based on location, due to licensing restrictions.” So even reaching a market does not guarantee a particular title. That matters more than people expect, and it is the reason we will not promise you any specific show below.

The part that saves most people the money

What AMC actually sells you in Britain

Two of AMC's services are on sale here, from AMC, at British prices. For a very large share of the reasons people go looking for AMC+, one of them is the answer.

Horror and thriller

Shudder, on its own subscription

Shudder is AMC's horror service and it has been available in the UK for years. AMC's own help page lists the markets: “Shudder is currently available in the US (and its territories), Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.” If you came here for Shudder's library, you can subscribe in Britain and skip everything else on this page.

British and Commonwealth drama

Acorn TV, on its own subscription

Acorn TV is also sold in the UK. AMC's help page states the territories: “Acorn TV is available in the countries listed below: US (and US Territories) Canada Australia New Zealand UK” Coverage is per-title and AMC notes it varies — check the specific series rather than assuming the whole catalogue.

The AMC+ bundle itself

Not sold here at any price

AMC+ bundles Shudder, Sundance Now and IFC Films Unlimited with the AMC originals and six live channels. That combined product is not on sale in Britain, and no British subscription assembles it.

This is the honest order of operations: check whether Shudder or Acorn TV covers what you want, because in the UK they are legitimate, local and cheaper than solving a network problem. We would rather lose the sale than sell you a connection you do not need.

The distinction the whole page turns on

A residential U.S. IP moves one layer, and only one

AMC+ access is not a single lock. It is a network location, plus an account, plus whoever takes your money, plus the app store your device is signed in to. A U.S. IP address is the first of those four and nothing else.

What a residential U.S. IP does and does not change for a UK reader, checked 13 September 2026

LayerDoes a U.S. IP move it?What actually governs it
Network location — what the service reads as your positionYesThe public address your traffic arrives from. This is the one layer a residential U.S. IP is for.
Having an AMC+ account at allNoAMC's terms restrict account creation to its territories. An IP address does not create an entitlement, and we will not pretend otherwise.
A subscription bought through Amazon, Apple or RokuNoThose are separate products in AMC's own words — see the next section. They stay where they were bought.
Which app store your device usesNoThat is set on the device against the account signed into it, not on your router. A British App Store account stays a British App Store account.
Which titles are in the catalogueNo“The content selection varies somewhat based on location, due to licensing restrictions.” Licensing decides this, per title, per market.

If you take one thing from this page: the layers are independent. Fixing the first one does nothing for the other three, and most of the frustration people report comes from assuming a single fix covers all four.

The mistake that costs people a second subscription

Whoever bills you owns the subscription — and it does not travel

AMC+ can be bought directly, or as an add-on channel inside Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV or Roku. These look like the same product. AMC says, in unusually plain language, that they are not.

“These add-on channel subscriptions cannot be combined, carried over, switched back and forth, or used on the AMC+ website or apps”

AMC+ Help Centre — add-on channels on other platforms

Read that sentence carefully before you spend anything. An AMC+ add-on bought inside Prime Video is not the same subscription as one bought at amcplus.com, cannot be converted into one, and will not sign you in to AMC's own app. AMC's help centre puts it as bluntly as it can: an add-on channel from Amazon is not AMC's app for Fire TV, an add-on from Apple is not AMC's app for Apple devices.

The practical consequence for a UK reader is that the route matters more than the connection. Decide which company you intend to have a relationship with before you change anything about your network, because unpicking it afterwards means cancelling with one company and starting again with another.

The same rule governs cancellation and refunds. AMC's terms route you to Amazon, Apple, Google or Roku depending on who took the payment — not to AMC. If something goes wrong, the company that billed you is the company that can fix it.

What the connection layer actually is

A residential address, not a datacentre range

This is the layer a USip plan addresses, and it is worth being exact about what that means, because “a US IP” covers two very different things.

What you get

An ordinary consumer address

A residential U.S. IP is an address on a consumer ISP's range — the kind of address a household in the United States browses from. That is the network-location layer presented plainly.

What it is not

A datacentre or hosting range

Commodity VPN endpoints sit on hosting ranges that are trivially identifiable as such. Streaming services categorise them separately from consumer addresses, which is why the cheapest option so often fails.

What it still cannot do

Anything above the network layer

It does not hold an account, take a payment, change an app store, or add a title to a catalogue. Everything in the table above still applies.

AMC's Streaming Services Terms of Use (section 26) limit viewing to supported territories and prohibit hiding or masking your location with any technology. A USip connection does not change those terms.

Account, app and connection

What do you need to watch AMC+ with USip?

You need a separate AMC+ subscription, the app that matches it, and the USip setup for your device. Check these five things before testing your chosen episode.

01

Your own AMC+ account and accepted payment

Confirm that your subscription covers the title and season. Account eligibility and accepted payment methods depend on AMC+ or the platform you subscribe through. USip does not create the account or guarantee acceptance of a British card.

02

The right viewing app

A direct AMC+ subscription, including one purchased inside the AMC+ app through an app store, uses the AMC+ app or website. An AMC+ subscription bought through Prime Video Channels, Apple TV Channels or The Roku Channel uses that platform. Apple TV Channels and App Store billing for the AMC+ app are different purchase routes. Check your subscription receipt if unsure.

03

An active USip trial or subscription

On a computer or phone, install OpenVPN Connect and import your USip profile. Follow the current guide for Windows, Mac, iPhone or iPad, or Android. Connect before opening your streaming app.

04

Separate Smart DNS setup for a TV

For TVs and streaming devices, follow the USip Smart DNS guide: register your current home public IP from that network, then enter the DNS settings on the device or router. Smart DNS is not a VPN tunnel; an ordinary IP checker may still show your real country. The viewing app and subscription are still required.

05

Play the exact episode you want

Try it on your intended device. If playback fails, record the title, device, connection method and exact error. Send connection questions to USip Support; account or payment questions belong with the service that bills you.

3-day USip trial. Payment method required. Your selected plan renews automatically unless canceled before the trial ends. AMC+ subscription not included. See current plans and renewal prices.

Four devices, four different failure modes

Where each device adds a layer the browser does not have

The order matters. A desktop browser is the cleanest diagnostic because it involves the fewest moving parts; every other device adds something.

Windows

Start here, because nothing is hidden

A Windows browser isolates three things and no more: the connection, the public address, and the cookies. Bring up the USip connection, confirm a checker reports the United States, then open amcplus.com in a private window — Ctrl+Shift+N in Chrome and Edge, Ctrl+Shift+P in Firefox. No app store is involved at any point.

Step by step: the Windows setup guide.

Mac

Same clarity, one extra network path to rule out

A Mac behaves like Windows with one addition: iCloud Private Relay can route Safari traffic separately from the rest of the system, which produces a confusing half-working state. Turn Private Relay off for the duration of the test, then use a private Safari or Chromium window.

Step by step: the Mac setup guide.

iPhone or iPad

The app store layer arrives here

This is where the fourth layer shows up. The AMC+ iOS app is listed on the U.S. App Store; a British Apple account browses the British store, and that is a device-and-account setting rather than a network one. Test in Safari first so you can tell a location problem from a storefront one.

Step by step: the iPhone or iPad setup guide.

Android

Google Play region behaves the same way

Google Play's country is tied to the Google account and its payment profile, not to the network you are on. Fire TV and Prime Video Channels add another variable again, because there the entitlement follows your Amazon account. Verify the public U.S. address before opening Play, AMC+ or Prime Video.

Step by step: the Android setup guide.

One residential U.S. IP — an ordinary consumer address on a U.S. ISP rather than a datacentre range. USip and AMC+ are separate services, and the plan below is the connection only. It does not include an AMC+ subscription, and it does not move the things AMC ties to your account rather than your connection.

What the symptom is actually telling you

Reading the failure instead of guessing at it

Each of these points at a different layer. Matching the symptom to the layer is faster than changing settings at random.

Questions we actually get asked

AMC+ in the UK, answered plainly

Is AMC+ available in the UK?

No. AMC's help centre lists the markets as “AMC+ is available in: The US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand.” and the United Kingdom is not among them. It has never launched here.

Then why do people say AMC is available in Britain?

Because two AMC services genuinely are. Shudder and Acorn TV both sell UK subscriptions, and HIDIVE does too. What is not sold here is AMC+, the bundle. The confusion is understandable and it is worth resolving before you spend anything.

Can I use my AMC+ login on Shudder UK?

No, and this catches people out. AMC states it directly: “Your AMC+ sign-in credentials will not work on the individual site and apps for Shudder, Sundance Now, and AMC.” The bundle works one way — Shudder's content appears inside the AMC+ app — and an AMC+ account is not a Shudder account.

Would a residential U.S. IP get me AMC+?

It changes the network-location layer, which is one of four. It does not create an account, it does not move a subscription bought through Amazon, Apple or Roku, and it does not change your device's app store. Those are the layers people actually get stuck on.

What does AMC+ cost in the United States?

AMC's own price-change article lists Monthly with Ads at $7.99, Monthly Premium at $10.99 and Annual Premium at $109.99, effective 11 February 2026 for new subscribers. Downloads are a Premium-tier feature; the ad-supported plan does not include them.

Does AMC+ say anything about what card I can use?

Not that we could find. AMC's terms ask for “a valid credit, debit, or other payment method that is accepted by or through the applicable Ecommerce Website” and say nothing about the country your card was issued in. We are not going to turn silence into a rule in either direction.

How many devices can stream at once?

AMC does not publish a number. Its terms say only that an account “your applicable AMC streaming service account is for personal, non-commercial use only and may be limited by simultaneous stream and device usage”. Several third-party sites state specific figures; none of them is AMC, so we are not repeating them.

Is AMC+ coming to the UK?

We have no source saying so. AMC expanded into several markets in 2022 and has not announced a new one since. Anyone telling you a UK launch date is guessing.

What does AMC say about VPNs and proxies?

AMC's Streaming Services Terms of Use (section 26) limit viewing to supported territories and prohibit hiding or masking your location with any technology. A USip connection does not change those terms.

What exactly does amcplus.com show a British visitor?

We do not know, and we are not going to invent it. We have not tested from a British address, and AMC publishes no such wording. Several sites quote an error message; none of them sources it. The Acorn TV help centre documents a “Not Available in Your Region” message for that service, which is the closest primary evidence that exists.

Does USip include an AMC+ subscription?

No. USip supplies the connection only. AMC+, Shudder, Acorn TV and any platform-billed add-on are separate services with their own subscriptions, their own terms and their own billing.

Where each quote on this page comes from

Sources for every claim above

Every quotation and territory list above is from one of these. Where we could not confirm something — UK pricing for Shudder or Acorn TV, and the exact wording amcplus.com shows a British visitor — we left it out rather than rounding it into a claim.

One decision, with the facts in front of you

If Shudder or Acorn TV covers it, stop here

Britain is the market where the honest answer is most often a local one. Shudder and Acorn TV are sold here by AMC, on ordinary UK subscriptions, and between them they hold a great deal of what people come to this page looking for. Checking costs nothing and it ends the question for a lot of readers.

If what you want is AMC+ itself — the bundle as sold in the United States — no British subscription assembles it, and a residential U.S. IP presents the network location that AMC+'s storefront reads. What it does not do is create an account, move a subscription bought through Amazon, Apple or Roku, or change which app store your device is signed in to. Decide with all four layers in view.

Facts checked 13 September 2026. AMC+ is a third-party service and is not affiliated with USip. Availability, catalogues, prices and platform agreements change — follow AMC+ terms, the billing-platform agreement, content licences and applicable law.
