The German sports picture moved twice in 2026, so it is worth being precise rather than repeating an old article. UFC is exclusively on DAZN in Germany and Austria through 2027. What a residential U.S. IP does change is the location Paramount+ reads. On a German line that is a two-part question rather than one, because DS-Lite means your IPv6 address is public and individually German even when your IPv4 is a shared carrier address. Paramount+ arrived in Germany, Austria and Switzerland in December 2022 and is sold here three separate ways. That is unusual — most streaming services have one front door in this market — and it is why the first step on this page costs nothing. A meaningful number of German households are already entitled to Paramount+ through a bill they are paying for something else.

Read the middle column and the right column together before you decide anything. If the thing you want is UFC, it is on DAZN and a US address will not put it on Paramount+ Deutschland — it will let a US Paramount+ account behave normally. Those are different sentences and the difference is the whole point.
Almost every guide to reaching American streaming from Germany skips this, and it is the one part that is genuinely German. Dual-Stack Lite is the standard configuration on a large share of German cable and fibre. On such a line your router receives a public IPv6 prefix of its own, but no public IPv4 at all — its IPv4 address comes from the carrier’s private range, and all IPv4 traffic is tunnelled to a provider gateway (the AFTR) and translated there onto an address shared with a large number of other households.
The consequence is a split identity. To a website you are simultaneously a carrier-owned German IPv4 that belongs to nobody in particular, and a German IPv6 address that belongs to you specifically. Which one Paramount+ reads depends on which protocol your browser used to reach it — and if your tunnel carries IPv4 only, it reads the half you did not change.
An IPv4/IPv6 mismatch is one possible cause of conflicting location results. Check both address families on the device you use, then compare the account, app and exact error rather than assuming every German failure has this cause.
A FRITZ!Box shows the connection type in Internet › Online-Monitor and will say “DS-Lite” outright when it is in use. Other routers use the term “DS-Lite” or name an “AFTR” address. That is the fastest answer and it costs nothing.
That block is reserved for exactly this — carrier-grade address sharing. If your router’s WAN IPv4 starts anywhere from 100.64 to 100.127, you do not have a public IPv4 address and no amount of port forwarding will give you one.
On an ordinary dual-stack line the two match. On DS-Lite they do not: the router holds a private address while websites report the carrier’s shared public one. A mismatch is the confirmation.
Once you know you are on DS-Lite, the test in the next section has a step most guides do not: confirm the connection carries IPv6 as well as IPv4, or disable IPv6 for the duration of the test. Either is fine. Leaving it unchecked is not.

One thing this section is not saying: that Germany is short of addresses. It is not. Germany holds about 1.47 public IPv4 addresses per person, one of the larger national allocations anywhere, and roughly 63% of German users are IPv6-capable — which is precisely why carriers here felt able to move IPv4 behind a shared gateway in the first place. DS-Lite is a design decision that IPv6 readiness made cheap, not a shortage forcing anyone’s hand.
Paramount+ reads the public address your request arrives from, and every consumer connection in Germany supplies a German one. Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Cologne, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Düsseldorf, Leipzig, Dortmund, Essen, Bremen, Dresden, Hanover and Nuremberg all answer the same way. The city is not the variable.
What does vary — and it is the variable that decides how your test behaves — is which operator serves your building, and therefore whether you have an address of your own or a slice of a shared one.
Connection type and public-IP options vary by provider, tariff and line. Check your router status and the operator's current instructions; an old support answer does not establish every customer's current configuration.
Same German verdict, faster line, and this is where DS-Lite is most often the default rather than the exception. Excellent connections that happen to give you the least individual address on the market.
A German address, effectively certainly shared, and on many mobile networks IPv6-only with IPv4 supplied by translation. If a test behaves differently on mobile than on your fixed line, that is why — not Paramount+ changing its mind.
A managed office, hotel or campus network may restrict connections. Compare the same account and device on a network you control if possible. A failure on one network is a clue, not proof that the account and app are otherwise correct.
So the country half of the question has the same answer everywhere in Germany, and the interesting half is the one above it — which German address, and whether there are two of them. That is what the next section is about.

The second row is the German-specific one and it is worth a second read. On a dual-stack line an IPv4-only tunnel is merely incomplete. On DS-Lite it is actively misleading, because the address that leaks is the one that is individually yours.
The point of an ordered test is that a failure names its own cause. Run the steps in this sequence and a failure tells you whether the network, the browser, the account or the licence stopped you. Run them in any other order and you get one word — “no” — with four possible meanings.

Try an on-demand title included in your plan and record the device and result. A private browser session can help isolate stored state. Then test your intended event separately; success with one episode is not a live-sport guarantee.
Record the exact message and the stage where it appears. A spinning player can involve the app, device, connection or entitlement. A payment decline can involve the issuer or merchant. The error text helps narrow the investigation but does not establish one universal cause.
If an ordinary title plays but your intended event does not, compare the event's plan requirements, rights, device support and exact error. One successful title does not rule out every connection or app issue.
A computer browser can make the public IP and error easier to inspect. Test TVs and streaming boxes separately because their app, account and network settings can differ. A browser result is a useful comparison, not proof that every device will work.

Apple serves the Paramount+ app by Apple Account country, so a German account shows you the German app. Changing that country affects subscriptions, store credit, rentals and family sharing well beyond this experiment. If you already subscribe to Paramount+ Deutschland through Apple, that subscription is billed and entitled separately from a US one.

Google Play serves apps by account country, so a German Google account will not offer the US build whatever the network says. Separately, exempt the VPN client from battery optimisation — a tunnel that Android kills mid-episode is indistinguishable from a block, and you will spend an hour debugging the wrong thing.

Poor playback can involve local Wi-Fi, throughput to the streaming service, congestion, the app or device. Test the connection while it is in use and change one variable at a time.
Bring up the intended connection before opening Paramount+. If an earlier attempt failed, compare a fresh browser session while keeping the account and title constant. Stored browser state is one possible factor, not a proven explanation for every refusal.
