The Showtime app closed
Showtime’s help site announced that “The SHOWTIME streaming service is being discontinued” and that “SHOWTIME programming is now available through Paramount+”. Standalone users kept access until 30 April 2024.
Short answer: Showtime shut its own streaming service in 2024, and in the U.S. its series and films now play inside Paramount+. Paramount+ does not operate in Qatar. Of the 28 countries on its “Paramount+ Regions” page, none is in the Gulf (checked 9 October 2026). Neither Paramount+ app, U.S. or international, appeared in the Qatari App Store that day either.
Some Showtime-made drama has reached Qatar by another road. In October 2024 Paramount signed a multiyear deal giving beIN exclusive rights in the Middle East and North Africa to a range of its programmes, Showtime titles included, with Arabic subtitles and a Paramount+ branded area inside beIN’s TOD streaming service. Whether that area still carries Showtime series in October 2026 we could not confirm: TOD’s own pages would not open for us.
If it is the U.S. catalogue you are after, read the section on Qatari law first; we found no official statement either way on private VPN use. The check itself is short: one laptop, a residential US IP from USip, a private browser window on paramountplus.com, and a single Showtime episode.

In the Middle East and North Africa, Paramount licenses a range of its programmes to beIN Media Group; Paramount+ itself does not operate here. Below is what that deal covered when it was announced, what has been said since, and where our checks on 9 October 2026 ran out.
| What | In Qatar | Compared with Showtime in the U.S. |
|---|---|---|
| beIN pay TV and TOD | Exclusive regional rights to a range of Paramount programmes, for pay TV and streaming, subtitled in Arabic, under a multiyear deal announced on 22 October 2024 (World Screen) | Showtime is a section of Paramount+, in English, on U.S. dates |
| A Paramount+ area inside TOD | Part of the same deal. In February 2025 Paramount spoke of its “resounding success” (Señal News). What it holds in October 2026 we could not check | Paramount+ itself, with two plans and “all of SHOWTIME®” on Premium |
| Billions and Ray Donovan | Both named among the titles in the October 2024 announcement | Both are Showtime series in the U.S. |
| Dexter: Resurrection | We could not confirm a Qatari home for it on 9 October 2026 | On the Showtime page of Paramount+; season 2 returns on 30 October 2026, “only on the Premium Plan” |
| Older Dexter series | A search on 9 October 2026 turned up a TOD page titled “Watch Dexter: New Blood” and an OSN+ cast page (its Saudi edition) linking to the original Dexter. Neither told us what a viewer in Qatar can watch today | Not compared: we did not look these up on Paramount+ |
The October 2024 announcement described “a multiyear volume deal” covering “exclusive rights to content for pay TV, SVOD and catch-up SVOD subtitled in Arabic for the MENA region”, with titles from Paramount+, Showtime, CBS Studios, Republic Pictures and Paramount Pictures (World Screen, 22 October 2024). It also promised “a Paramount+ branded destination for beIN’s OTT platform TOD in the Middle East and North Africa”.
Four months later, announcing a similar arrangement for Turkey, Paramount’s Dan Cohen spoke of “the resounding success of the Paramount+ branded destination on TOD in MENA” (Señal News, 26 February 2025). That is the most recent first-hand word on it that we found.
beIN’s own page about TOD, read on 9 October 2026, calls it “a subscription-based OTT platform by the beIN Media Group”, launched in January 2022 and available across the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey. It does not mention Paramount+. TOD’s own title pages would not load for us, so we cannot list what its Paramount+ area holds today.
Deals change, and so do owners: Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery became one company, Skydance, on 6 October 2026. We found no announcement about the beIN arrangement since then, and we do not guess. Look in the TOD app, or ask beIN, before deciding anything.

Three dates explain what “Showtime” means now, and why a guide to Showtime is really a guide to Paramount+.
Showtime’s help site announced that “The SHOWTIME streaming service is being discontinued” and that “SHOWTIME programming is now available through Paramount+”. Standalone users kept access until 30 April 2024.
The plan’s old name was dropped that day (TheWrap), and it survives only on the U.S. cable channel. Paramount describes Premium as “Watch hit originals, movies and all of SHOWTIME® ad free”. Paramount+ Essential offers “Access SHOWTIME® Originals”, footnoted “Series may not include all episodes”.
Paramount’s takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery was completed that day, and the combined group is called Skydance (Forbes). The footer of Paramount+’s U.S. site now reads “Paramount+ © 2026 Skydance”. HBO Max, Pluto TV, the Showtime cable channel and Paramount+ itself all belong to it.
Paramount’s own pitch for the Showtime part is “Access SHOWTIME® originals and movies when you sign up for the Premium plan.” Its newest example is the second season of Dexter: Resurrection, which Paramount says returns on Friday 30 October 2026 “only on the Premium Plan”.
For a viewer in Qatar, all of this sits behind one fact: Paramount+ does not operate here, so the Showtime section you would be reaching is the U.S. one, in English, on American dates.

Qatar stays on UTC+3 all year. New York and Los Angeles change their clocks, so the gap to Doha changes with them: seven and ten hours until 31 October 2026, eight and eleven from 1 November 2026 to 13 March 2027, then seven and ten again.
| U.S. time | Doha, until 31 Oct 2026 and from 14 Mar 2027 | Doha, 1 Nov 2026 to 13 Mar 2027 |
|---|---|---|
| Midnight in New York, 9 p.m. in Los Angeles | 7 a.m. | 8 a.m. |
| 3 a.m. in New York, midnight in Los Angeles | 10 a.m. | 11 a.m. |
| Noon in New York, 9 a.m. in Los Angeles | 7 p.m. | 8 p.m. |
| 3 p.m. in New York, noon in Los Angeles | 10 p.m. | 11 p.m. |
| 8 p.m. in New York, 5 p.m. in Los Angeles | 3 a.m., next day | 4 a.m., next day |
| 8 p.m. in Los Angeles, 11 p.m. in New York | 6 a.m., next day | 7 a.m., next day |
The second season of Dexter: Resurrection returns on Friday 30 October 2026, the last weekend before the American change. Friday opens the weekend in Qatar, and a Friday on New York time runs from 7 a.m. on Friday to 7 a.m. on Saturday in Doha.
On Sunday 1 November the U.S. leaves summer time, and every American hour then lands one hour later on a Doha clock until 14 March 2027. Premium’s live CBS feed follows the same rule: CBS prime time at 8 p.m. in New York is 3 a.m. in Doha in October and 4 a.m. from November.
Conversions made through Python’s zoneinfo with the IANA time-zone database, version 2026c, for the zones Asia/Qatar, America/New_York and America/Los_Angeles. The hour at which a new episode appears is Paramount+’s choice; the table only converts clocks.

Home and mobile internet in Qatar comes from two operators, Ooredoo and Vodafone Qatar. Whichever you use, and wherever you connect, a website sees a Qatari public address.
| Where you connect | Whose network | Country Paramount+ reads |
|---|---|---|
| At home, on fibre | Ooredoo or Vodafone Qatar | Qatar |
| On a phone, over 4G or 5G | Ooredoo or Vodafone Qatar | Qatar |
| A laptop on a phone’s hotspot | The phone’s operator | Qatar |
| Hotel, compound, office or campus Wi-Fi | The venue’s connection, sometimes with filters of its own | Qatar |
| A laptop with USip connected | Your Qatari line underneath, USip’s U.S. address on top | The U.S., on a home connection, which Paramount+ can still refuse |
Vodafone Qatar’s own figure is the only current one we can give: 2.1 million mobile customers, in its first-half 2026 results of 28 July 2026. The CRA, Qatar’s telecoms regulator, publishes market reports, but the newest one our search found did not load on 9 October 2026, so this page quotes no market shares.
IPv6 deserves a look. A fibre line can carry two kinds of public address, the familiar IPv4 and the newer IPv6, and an address checker lists both when both exist. The USip connection has to cover the IPv6 side too; otherwise that line still names Ooredoo or Vodafone and your Qatari connection stays visible. If it does, turn IPv6 off on the laptop for the check.
A hotel or an employer can restrict what runs on its Wi-Fi. If the USip connection will not start on such a network, the venue is the likely cause rather than Paramount+; move the laptop to your phone’s hotspot for one attempt to find out.

Every IP address says two things about you: a country, and the kind of network it belongs to. Any website can look up both.
| Route | Country and network shown | Drawback | Sensible use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ooredoo or Vodafone, as it is | Qatar, on a Qatari operator | Paramount+ does not operate in Qatar | TOD, OSN+ and everything else offered locally |
| A free VPN app | Often the U.S., on a server crowded with other users | Shared and unpredictable, with no sign of a household | Nothing you would want to rely on |
| A VPN server in a data centre | The U.S., on a hosting company’s network | The country matches; the network does not look like a home | Privacy on public Wi-Fi |
| USip residential U.S. IP | The U.S., on a consumer internet provider | Paramount+ still decides whether to accept it | A steady starting point for the check below |
Once one episode has played for a minute in a fresh private window, stop adjusting the connection.
If a problem remains after the address checks out, the account, the plan or the device is the place to look.
An ordinary home address is still not an approved one. Paramount+ has not endorsed USip, and nothing on this page should be read as saying it has.

Run this once on a laptop before you touch a phone or a television. It gives a clear answer to a single question: does Paramount+ accept the connection?
Set up the connection with the Windows guide or the Mac guide and start it. Open an IP address checker: the IPv4 address has to be in the U.S. If the checker lists an IPv6 address as well, that line must not show Ooredoo or Vodafone; if it does, your Qatari connection is still in use alongside the U.S. one.
Open a new private window and sign in at paramountplus.com with your existing Paramount+ account. The private window starts without cookies from earlier visits made from Qatar. USip does not supply Paramount+ accounts.
Go to the Showtime section, start any episode and give it a full minute. Look at which plan the account is on as well: Paramount gives Premium “all of SHOWTIME®”, and some new seasons, such as the second season of Dexter: Resurrection, are Premium-only.
An episode that plays means the connection side is done for now. If a message mentions your location, a VPN or a proxy, copy it exactly. Reconnect once, open another private window and try a single time more. If the message repeats, send its wording to USip support; ten more attempts would only blur the picture.
One good minute settles the address, and only the address. The plan, the catalogue and the decision to play stay with Paramount+. For USip’s own dated records, see USip’s published checks; none of them is a promise about a connection in Qatar.

USip recorded these four videos in September 2021, while Showtime still ran its own app and streaming site. Follow them for the connection. At the end, open Paramount+, at paramountplus.com or in its app, instead of the Showtime service they show.

Import your USip profile into OpenVPN Connect, connect, and check the address before any browser tab is open. The video finishes on Showtime’s former streaming site; the equivalent step today is paramountplus.com in a private window. Windows needs no app store for this, which makes it the cleanest place to start from Qatar.
Step by step: the Windows setup guide.

The connection steps in the Mac video still apply. Two settings can spoil the result: iCloud Private Relay, which routes Safari’s traffic through Apple’s relays, so switch it off while you check; and an IPv6 address from your Ooredoo or Vodafone line, so read both lines of the address checker. Then go to paramountplus.com, not to the old Showtime site the video ends on.
Step by step: the Mac setup guide.

To reach the old Showtime app (closed on 30 April 2024), the video moves the Google Play country to the U.S. Do not repeat that step. Google’s own help page, read on 9 October 2026, says “To set up a new country or region, you must be in that location”, and that you “must wait at least 90 days” between changes.
What still applies is the order: OpenVPN Connect first, Paramount+ second. Keep OpenVPN Connect out of battery optimisation too, or Android may close it in the background and the result will look like a refusal. We could not check the Qatari Play Store for a Paramount+ app.
Step by step: the Android setup guide.

Neither Paramount+ app had a listing in the Qatari App Store on 9 October 2026. In the video, the App Store country is switched so that the Showtime app, now gone, can be installed. Apple publishes its own conditions for changing the country or region of an Apple Account; read them on Apple’s support page before you consider it, and only once the laptop check has given a clear answer. The OpenVPN Connect steps themselves still apply.
Step by step: the iOS setup guide.
A television, streaming stick or games console cannot run OpenVPN Connect. For those, USip uses Smart DNS. First register your home’s public IP address with USip; then put the DNS details into the device’s network settings, or once into your router. If Ooredoo or Vodafone gives your home a new public address, register that one too.
Your beIN box and the TOD and OSN+ apps have nothing to do with any of this and keep working on your Qatari line. Whether your television’s own app store offers Paramount+ in Qatar we did not check, so settle the connection on a laptop first.

One residential U.S. IP — an ordinary consumer address on a U.S. ISP, not a server range. USip and Paramount+ are separate services: the plans include the connection only — not a Paramount+ subscription, an app-store region or the rights to any title.
Separate services: these prices are for the USip residential U.S. IP service only. Showtime streams inside Paramount+, a separate service; a Paramount+ subscription and access to any particular series or film are not part of a USip plan.
In the App Store check of 9 October 2026, the U.S. Paramount+ app appeared in the U.S. store alone, and the international app only in the UK, Irish and Australian ones. Neither appeared in Qatar. That reflects the store, not your connection, and it is why this guide starts in a browser.
Neither app (ids 530168168 and 1340650234) was listed for Qatar on 9 October 2026. Switching an Apple Account to another country or region is possible only on the conditions Apple publishes; it is an account decision, separate from any check of the connection.
Google Play could not be checked country by country, so we make no claim about Paramount+ in the Qatari Play Store. Google’s own rule: a Play country can only be set from inside that country, and after that the next change has to wait at least 90 days.
A laptop browser reaches paramountplus.com without any app store, so the store question does not arise. That is why this page starts there and leaves phones and televisions until later.

People in Qatar often ask whether a VPN is legal. We looked for an official answer that covers private, consumer use and did not find one. Here is exactly what we did find, as of 9 October 2026.
In the unofficial English translation on the UN’s SHERLOC database, Article 3 punishes anyone who “intentionally and illegally” gains access “in any way” to a website, information system or network. Article 13 covers using an information network to violate copyright. Both carry up to three years in prison, a fine, or both. The translation never mentions VPNs or proxies.
Under Article 21, service providers must “Take the necessary steps to block Internet links when so is ordered by the judicial authorities”. We found no official public list of what is blocked, or why.
Qatar’s National Cyber Security Agency hosts Security Guidelines for VPN Services (version 1.0, March 2020). Its scope is “Any organization or individual that uses VPN to access enterprise systems”, so it deals with company remote access, not with consumers or streaming.
We found no statement from the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA), the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology or the National Cyber Security Agency on whether a private person may use a VPN, or a residential IP service, to reach a foreign streaming service. That leaves the question open. We can point you to no official text that allows it, and none that forbids it by name; a law’s silence is not permission.
Two further points. The binding version of Law No. 14 is the Arabic original; the English text quoted here is an unofficial translation by the law firm Squire Patton Boggs, dated 18 September 2014. And a U.S. address changes only what a website sees; it does not change what Qatari law says about content.
Whatever Qatari law says, Paramount+ makes its own decision about each connection, and it may turn down USip’s.
What to check yourself: the Arabic text of the law, which is the binding one; the IT rules of your employer or university, if you are on their network or using their laptop; and the conditions attached to your Ooredoo or Vodafone line. Where the answer matters to you, a lawyer licensed in Qatar is the right person to ask. This page is not legal advice, and we are not lawyers.
Answered from Paramount’s and beIN’s own pages, the 2024 deal reports, the published text of Qatar’s cybercrime law and the IANA time-zone database. Anything we could not confirm is marked as such.
Not as a service of its own, and not through Paramount+ either. Showtime ended its standalone streaming on 30 April 2024, and its programmes now stream inside Paramount+, whose “Paramount+ Regions” page names no Gulf country (read 9 October 2026). Some Showtime-made series reached Qatar through beIN, which took regional rights to a range of Paramount programmes in October 2024; the TOD app shows what it carries now.
No. The 28 countries on the “Paramount+ Regions” page are in Australia, Europe and the Americas, and Qatar is not one of them (read 9 October 2026). That day the Qatari App Store had no listing for either Paramount+ app. The nearest thing locally is the Paramount+ branded area that beIN agreed to create inside TOD in 2024; we could not confirm what it holds today.
They did under a deal announced on 22 October 2024, which gave beIN exclusive rights in the Middle East and North Africa to titles from Paramount+, Showtime, CBS Studios and others, subtitled in Arabic. Billions and Ray Donovan, both Showtime series, were named. In February 2025 Paramount called the Paramount+ area on TOD a success. What it carries in October 2026 we could not check, because TOD’s pages would not open for us.
No. In the words of Showtime’s help site, “The SHOWTIME streaming service is being discontinued”; standalone access ended on 30 April 2024. Its programming now sits in Paramount+, which has no Qatari service. Any guide or video that still shows a Showtime app was made before that, including USip’s own recordings from September 2021, whose connection steps still apply but whose final screens are out of date.
Paramount+ Premium, which Paramount describes with the words “all of SHOWTIME®”. Under the other plan, Paramount+ Essential, the Showtime line reads “Access SHOWTIME® Originals”, footnoted “Series may not include all episodes”. New seasons can be Premium-only: Paramount says Dexter: Resurrection returns on 30 October 2026 “only on the Premium Plan”. Until 23 June 2025, when it was renamed, Premium was called Paramount+ with Showtime.
We could not find an official answer. Qatar’s Cybercrime Prevention Law (Law No. 14 of 2014) does not name VPNs in the English translation we read, but Article 3 punishes access to a website or network “intentionally and illegally” and “in any way”, and Article 13 covers copyright violations over a network. The only official VPN document we found, a 2020 security guideline, covers company systems. Check the Arabic text and ask a lawyer licensed in Qatar.
No. What USip provides is a single residential U.S. IP address, reached with the OpenVPN Connect app or through Smart DNS. A Paramount+ account, its plan and every Showtime title are Paramount+’s, and Paramount+ alone decides whether to accept a connection. USip has nothing to do with beIN, TOD or OSN+ either; those keep working on your Ooredoo or Vodafone line as before.
For whatever beIN carries, use its own box or the TOD app. For the U.S. Paramount+, televisions, streaming sticks and consoles have no way to run OpenVPN Connect, so USip connects them with Smart DNS: your home’s public IP address is registered with USip, and the DNS details go on the device or the router. Whether your TV’s app store offers Paramount+ in Qatar we did not check, so settle the connection on a laptop first.
On U.S. dates, and Doha is ahead. Until 31 October 2026 the gap is seven hours to New York and ten to Los Angeles: 8 p.m. on the East Coast is 3 a.m. in Doha. From 1 November 2026 to 13 March 2027 the gap grows by an hour, because the U.S. leaves summer time and Qatar never changes its clocks. Paramount+ decides at what hour a new episode appears.
Not at the 9 October 2026 check: neither the U.S. Paramount+ app nor the international one had a Qatari listing. Google Play could not be checked country by country, so we make no claim about it. Changing the country or region of an Apple Account depends on conditions that Apple itself sets. A laptop browser at paramountplus.com needs no store at all, which is why every check here starts there.
Because your public IP address is registered to a Qatari operator, and any website can look that up. Fibre or 5G, Ooredoo or Vodafone, the result is the same, and no router setting changes it. When a checker gives a U.S. IPv4 address next to an IPv6 address from Ooredoo or Vodafone, your Qatari route is still open; fix that before trying Paramount+ again.
Copy the message exactly as it appears. Reconnect once, open a fresh private window and try a single time more. If the same message returns, send its exact wording to USip support and stop there; a string of retries leaves the answer as it was and makes the cause harder to find. Paramount+ can refuse any connection, including USip’s, and this page does not promise otherwise.
3-day free trial · 14-day money-back · Paramount+ subscription not included
The hub covers Showtime’s move into Paramount+ in full. Israel and Singapore are the other two guides outside Europe; each country page has its own local route, its own operators and its own clock.
The main pages behind this guide, each read on 9 October 2026. The law is quoted from an unofficial English translation; the Arabic original is the official text. Vodafone Qatar’s figure comes from its first-half 2026 results of 28 July 2026.
For Showtime in Qatar, start with what may already be here: the Paramount titles beIN licensed in 2024, in TOD or on beIN’s channels, at Doha hours and with Arabic subtitles. Look in the TOD app; we could not.
For the U.S. catalogue, read the section on Qatari law and make your own decision. Then run the ten-minute check on a laptop, with a residential US IP and your existing Paramount+ account. Paramount+ decides whether to play; USip supplies the address.
USip supplies the residential U.S. IP connection only. Questions of Qatari law, beIN and TOD, app-store countries, and Paramount+ accounts and plans all sit outside it.
