Sling TV in Mainland China: Error 11-601 and Local TV Options

01What error 11-601 tells you

Sling identifies 11-601 as a location error. A screen offering Sling Orange, Blue or an add-on does not establish that any package will play where you are. If you are physically in mainland China, upgrading from one package to another will not bring the country inside Sling’s service area. The provider’s troubleshooting instructions for people wrongly located while inside the United States apply to a different situation.

02Find the Asia edition of a live channel

For a Mandarin news or current-affairs programme, open the official CCTV-4 Asia feed and schedule. Look for 中文国际（亚） or 亚洲版. CCTV also labels Europe and Americas feeds. The edition matters when a relative in the United States sends a start time: the same Mandarin show can appear in a different time slot. The Asia schedule lists programmes such as 中国新闻 and 今日亚洲 and marks past and current items.

If a hotel guide provides only a channel number, first find the programme name in CCTV’s schedule. Then compare the programme currently on screen. This is more reliable than assuming the channel in two different hotels uses the same number.

03Missed the programme? Open its episode archive

For the current-affairs series 海峡两岸, CCTV publishes a dated episode list. 完整视频 means a full programme, while 精彩片段 means selected clips. Match the date and displayed duration to the edition you want. That lets you go directly to a specific broadcast without subscribing to a U.S. bundle. Other CCTV programmes have their own archives, which can differ in how far back they go.

04What “International” means on a Sling bill

Sling’s description of International explains that it gathers programming from around the world for households in the United States. The name describes the origins and languages of the programmes. It does not create a worldwide streaming entitlement. For an American affiliate instead of a Mandarin channel, Sling’s local-channel guide also requires checking the actual market and package.

If a family member manages the subscription at home, ask them to identify the channel and exact show. A local broadcast may solve the programme request. It will not reproduce Sling’s recording, guide or advertising feed, and paying USip will not activate any of those features.
