Short answer: Sling says no. The page it shows to visitors outside the U.S. carries one sentence: “Sling TV, a live TV streaming service, is only available in the United States.” Sling runs no service for any other country, and on 9 October 2026 its app was listed in the U.S. App Store only, out of the nine national stores we looked at.
Sling has also changed a lot since most guides were written. In October 2026 the line-up is Sling Orange, Sling Blue, Orange & Blue together, Sling Essentials (nationwide since 9 April 2026), Sling Select (since August 2025) and the free Sling Freestream. The short-term passes of 2025 are gone.
A residential US IP from USip gives your laptop, phone or TV an ordinary consumer address on a U.S. internet provider, so sling.com sees a U.S. household connection instead of your foreign one. That is all it changes. Sling still decides which connections it accepts and can refuse any of them, USip’s included. Plans, local stations, blackouts and sign-up rules stay Sling’s, and USip assigns the U.S. address, so you do not choose the city.
The first check takes about ten minutes on a laptop: connect USip, open sling.com in a private window in Chrome or Safari, and start one Freestream channel, or one channel in a Sling plan you already have.
Advice about Sling goes out of date fast. These are the changes since 2023 that matter to anyone outside the U.S., each with its date and its source, named here and linked at the foot of the page.

Put together, those dates explain why so much of what is online about Sling no longer fits. A guide that knows only Orange and Blue was written before Select and Essentials existed. A post that recommends a Day Pass describes something Sling no longer offers. A page that puts NBA games on TNT describes the 2024–25 season or earlier.
For basketball, the new deals change which Sling channel matters. TNT is still in Sling Orange, but its NBA coverage ended with the 2024–25 season. Of the NBA’s new national partners, ESPN is in Sling Orange and Sling Essentials, ABC and NBC appear only where Sling offers local channels, and Peacock and Prime Video are separate services.
Did the lawsuits end the passes? Sling has not said. Cord Cutters News offers that link as its own reading, and we leave it there.

Local stations are a separate question. Next to the plans, Sling’s compare page carries the line “Local channels in select markets like ABC, NBC, FOX, and more.” Which local stations appear depends on the U.S. address Sling sees, and USip assigns that address. You do not pick a city, so you do not pick a set of local channels either.
Two more things the table cannot show. The plan decides the channels: a U.S. address changes nothing about which plan an account is on or what it includes. And the table is a snapshot of 9 October 2026. Sling has changed its line-up several times since August 2025 and can do so again, so sling.com is the authority on any given day.

Sling Help sums it up in a single line: “Sling Freestream is like the name says, FREE.” That makes Freestream the natural place to begin a first check from abroad.
Sling launched Freestream as a free service funded by advertising. At launch Sling counted more than 400 live channels and 41,000 on-demand titles; today’s numbers are whatever Sling’s own guide shows.
Freestream needs no Sling plan. If a Freestream channel will not start, the plan cannot be the reason, so what is left to look at is the connection, the browser and Sling’s view of the address.
Freestream is part of Sling TV, on the same website and in the same app. It is not a separate international edition: from an address abroad, Sling shows the same one-sentence page as for everything else.
A Freestream result answers one narrow question: does Sling accept this connection, on this device, today? If it plays, the network side is in order for now. If you already have a Sling plan, the same private window can then show whether that plan’s channels play as well.

Every website reads the public address your connection comes from. From abroad, that address points to your own country, and sling.com answers with its one-sentence page. A residential US IP changes the address. It does not change who decides.
In short: the network side, and nothing beyond it.

Put plainly: Sling can refuse any connection, one through USip included, and it does not have to say why. We do not promise access, and nothing on this page means Sling approves of USip. No connection can promise a result, because the answer is Sling’s. What differs is the kind of address Sling reads, and how easy that address is to recognise for what it is.

Two details matter more than the label on the app. The first is IPv6. Many home and mobile lines carry a newer IPv6 address next to the usual IPv4 one, and if the IPv6 line still names your own provider, a website can still see an address in your own country through it. The second is history. Cookies and saved settings from earlier visits travel with the browser, which is why the check below starts in a fresh private window.

A laptop shows you more than a TV can: you can read the address, see Sling’s answer and change one thing at a time. Do the four steps in order.
Install OpenVPN Connect with your USip profile, following the Windows guide or the Mac guide, and connect. Open any IP address checker. The IPv4 line must say United States. If there is an IPv6 line, it must not name the company that provides your home or mobile internet.
Use Chrome or Safari, the two browsers on Sling’s list of supported devices. A private window starts without cookies from earlier visits, so Sling sees only today’s connection. Close any other Sling tabs first.
Start one Freestream channel, which needs no Sling plan. If you already have a Sling plan, sign in and start one channel in it instead. Let it run for a full minute: a stream that stops after a few seconds is a result too.
If the channel keeps playing, the network side works on this laptop today. If Sling shows a message about your location, a VPN or a proxy, write it down word for word. Reconnect USip once and try one more time. If the same message comes back, send its exact wording to USip support rather than trying again and again.
USip keeps a dated log of its own checks on a separate page, USip’s published checks. They were made on other days, from other places; what counts for you is what these four steps show on your own laptop.

Computers and phones use the OpenVPN Connect app with a USip profile; TVs, sticks and consoles use Smart DNS. USip recorded the four videos below in September 2021. The USip connection steps in them still apply. The Sling screens are from 2021, and the parts about signing up and switching app-store countries are out of date, so leave those parts out.

If the computer also runs a work VPN, switch that off first or use another computer. With two tunnels running, there is no way to know which address Sling is reading.

The USip steps in the Mac video still hold. Its Sling screens do not: the plans and pages shown are from 2021, and the sign-up part should be skipped.
Before the check, switch off iCloud Private Relay if you use it, so Safari has only one route out, and read the IPv6 line on the address checker. Chrome is fine too; Sling lists both browsers.

The Android video changes the Google Play country to reach the Sling app. That part is out of date, and it is not something we advise. Google Play Help says “To set up a new country or region, you must be in that location”, and that you “must wait at least 90 days” between changes.
We did not check Google Play country by country, so we cannot say whether the Sling app appears in yours. The USip connection steps in the video still apply. If the Sling app is already on the phone, connect USip before you open it.

On 9 October 2026 the Sling app was listed in the U.S. App Store only, out of the nine stores we looked at. The iPhone video switches the App Store country to reach it; that step is out of date, and we do not suggest copying it.
Apple publishes its own conditions for changing an Apple Account’s country or region, and they apply to the whole account, not to one app. Read them before changing anything. The USip connection steps in the video still apply.

TVs, sticks and games consoles cannot run OpenVPN Connect, so they use Smart DNS. You register your home’s public IP address with USip, then enter the DNS details in the device’s network settings, or once on your router. If your internet provider changes that public address, register the new one.
Sling’s list of supported devices includes Roku, Amazon Fire, Apple TV, Android TV and Google TV, Chromecast, Samsung, LG and Vizio TVs, and Xbox Series X|S. The Sling app also has to be offered in the TV’s own app store, which depends on the maker and the country, and we did not check those stores. Leave the TV until a laptop has played a channel.

Why the gaps move: Europe puts its clocks back on 25 October 2026 and forward on 28 March 2027. New York and Toronto change on 1 November 2026 and 14 March 2027. Sydney moved to daylight time on 4 October 2026 and moves back on 4 April 2027. Dubai does not change its clocks at all. Toronto keeps the same time as New York all year, so no conversion is needed there.
Watch the day as well as the hour. A Sunday-night start in New York is the early hours of Monday in Europe and Monday lunchtime in Sydney, and in Sydney even the Sunday-afternoon slots fall on Monday morning.
We converted these times with Python’s zoneinfo module, which uses the IANA time-zone database, for New York, Toronto, London, Dublin, Berlin, Amsterdam, Zurich, Dubai and Sydney. They are clock arithmetic only: the real start of any game is set by the league and the broadcaster, and listed in Sling’s guide.

Change one thing at a time and keep notes. Each problem below points to one part of the chain: Sling’s answer, the address, the browser, the rules or the device.
This is Sling’s answer about the connection. Write the message down word for word, or take a screenshot. Reconnect USip once and try one more time in a new private window. If the message returns, send the exact wording to USip support. Ten more attempts will not change it.
Many lines carry an IPv6 address next to the IPv4 one. If the address checker shows your own provider on the IPv6 line, Sling may see that address too. Ask USip support how to handle IPv6 on your device or router, then read both lines again.
Cookies and saved settings from an earlier visit, perhaps one made without USip, travel with the browser. Close every Sling tab, open a fresh private window and start again before you change anything else.
Sling’s list of supported devices names two browsers: Chrome and Safari. If you use another one, switch before drawing any conclusion. Browser extensions that change your connection can also get in the way, so start with them switched off.
Blackouts and local-market rules are Sling’s and the leagues’, and they apply to the U.S. address Sling sees. USip assigns that address and you do not choose its city, so a game blacked out for it stays blacked out for you. That is a rights question, not a connection fault.
A USip plan includes one simultaneous connection. Run the check on one device, and switch OpenVPN Connect off on your other devices first.

A USip plan gives you one residential U.S. IP address, used through the OpenVPN Connect app on computers and phones or through Smart DNS on TVs and consoles. Sling accounts, plans, channels and the rights to every game belong to Sling, which also has the last word on which connections get in.

Not in any of the eight countries our guides cover. On 9 October 2026 we looked up the Sling app (“Sling: Live TV, Sports & News”) in nine national App Stores. It was listed in the U.S. store only, and not in Canada, the UK, Germany, Australia, the UAE, Ireland, the Netherlands or Switzerland. We did not check Google Play country by country. A laptop browser needs no app store, which is why the check starts there.

Whether Sling accepts a connection is a separate question, and the answer to that one is always Sling’s.
