The U.S. and U.S. territories only
Starz’s Google Play listing limits its online services to the U.S. and certain U.S. territories, through participating partners. There is no Swedish edition to sign up for.
Short answer: Starz has no Swedish service. Its Google Play listing, read on 10 October 2026, says: “STARZ online services are only accessible through participating partners in the U.S. and certain U.S. territories”. That day the STARZ app was not in the Swedish App Store either. Starz did once run a service here, launched as STARZPLAY and renamed Lionsgate+ in September 2022, but Lionsgate said in November 2022 that it would withdraw it from the Nordics, with the exit due by the end of March 2023. We could not find the exact last day in Sweden. Today the Lionsgate+ name belongs to Lionsgate’s own add-on channel inside Amazon Prime Video, which is not a Starz service.
The series are still on Swedish screens, on other services. In January 2026 MovieZine reported every earlier season of Outlander on Viaplay, with the final one due there on 7 March 2026, along with the first season of Outlander: Blood of My Blood. It also listed Spartacus: House of Ashur on Prime Video from 6 December 2025, and P-Valley reached Netflix in December 2024. For the Power spin-offs and BMF we could not confirm a Swedish home, although TheWrap reported in July 2026 that all four Power series are coming to Netflix internationally from November.
If you want Starz’s own American service, start small: a laptop browser, the residential U.S. IP from USip, starz.com in a private window and one episode in a Starz subscription you already have. Starz decides whether to accept that connection, and it can refuse any connection, USip’s included.

Starz series reach Sweden through other services, title by title, each with its own Swedish date. This is what we could trace to a dated report or a service’s own announcement, checked on 10 October 2026.
| Series | In Sweden, as reported (checked 10 October 2026) | Compared with Starz in the U.S. |
|---|---|---|
| Outlander, seasons 1–7 | Viaplay: every earlier season, MovieZine wrote on 23 January 2026 | Starz’s own series, eight seasons in all |
| Outlander, season 8 (the last) | Viaplay, from Saturday 7 March 2026, ten episodes (MovieZine, 23 January 2026) | Starz from Friday 6 March 2026 (TV Insider); on the STARZ app at midnight Eastern Time, Parade reported, which was 06:00 in Stockholm |
| Outlander: Blood of My Blood, season 1 | Viaplay, from Saturday 8 November 2025 (MovieZine, 3 November 2025) | A Starz series, now in its second season in the U.S. |
| Outlander: Blood of My Blood, season 2 | We could not confirm a Swedish date. On 2 June 2026 MovieZine wrote that it was not yet known whether the season would come to Viaplay in Sweden, and we found nothing later. | Starz from Friday 18 September 2026 (BroadwayWorld) |
| Spartacus: House of Ashur | Prime Video, from Saturday 6 December 2025 (MovieZine, 5 December 2025) | Starz from 9 p.m. Eastern Time on Friday 5 December 2025, with episodes on the STARZ app the next day (TechRadar) |
| P-Valley | Netflix: seasons 1 and 2 from 1 December 2024 (What’s on Netflix, 20 March 2025), on licences the site called short. We could not confirm they are still there. | A Starz original. Its third and final season, nine episodes long, is due on Starz from Friday 4 December 2026, opening with two episodes (TVLine, 10 September 2026). |
| Power, Power Book II: Ghost, Power Book III: Raising Kanan and Power Book IV: Force | Not on Netflix yet. TheWrap reported on 27 July 2026 that all four are coming to Netflix internationally from November 2026, in a deal that leaves out only the U.S. and Canada. Sweden is not among the exclusions, but we found no Swedish date. | Starz stays the American home of the Power universe, TheWrap says, and the original Power joins Netflix in the U.S. from November as well. The upcoming Power: Origins and Power: Legacy are not part of the deal. |
| BMF | We could not confirm a Swedish home | A Starz original |
So start with Viaplay, which was Starz’s Nordic partner in the STARZPLAY years and, by MovieZine’s January 2026 report, the Swedish home of all of Outlander. MovieZine dated two Swedish premières a day after the American ones: the final season of Outlander (6 and 7 March 2026) and Spartacus: House of Ashur (5 and 6 December 2025). For BMF we found no dated source naming a Swedish home, so the table says so rather than guessing.
Catalogues change. Each row records what a dated source said, checked on 10 October 2026, so search the title in Viaplay, Netflix and Prime Video first. Lionsgate’s own page lists Sweden for Lionsgate+, an add-on channel inside Amazon Prime Video, and one listing site placed Power Book II: Ghost on it that day. We could not confirm with Lionsgate or Amazon what the channel carries in Sweden, so it is not in the table.

Starz reached Swedish viewers in two ways: inside Viaplay, under a deal announced in November 2020, and as a service of its own from February 2022. Each step below has a date and a source, and the gaps are marked.
| When | What happened | Source |
|---|---|---|
| November 2020 | Viaplay and Starz announced a long-term agreement to make STARZPLAY content available to Viaplay viewers across the Nordic region. | Viaplay Group press release, 25 February 2022 |
| February 2022 | STARZPLAY came to Sweden as a service of its own. MovieZine, writing that September, gave only the month. | MovieZine, 29 September 2022 |
| 29 September 2022 | Lionsgate+ replaced STARZPLAY in Sweden, offered as an app. Viaplay stayed on as Starz’s Nordic launch partner under the new name. | MovieZine and digitalt.tv, both 29 September 2022 |
| 3–4 November 2022 | Lionsgate said it planned to “stop offering Lionsgate+ in Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Nordics, the Benelux and Japan”. It gave no date. | StreamTV Insider, 4 November 2022 |
| 17 February 2023 | The service was set to leave the Nordics by the end of the first quarter of 2023. | Señal News, 17 February 2023 |
| The last day in Sweden | We could not find it, nor the notice Swedish subscribers received. | Our searches, 10 October 2026 |
| 10 October 2026 | Lionsgate’s own page names Sweden as one of 18 countries with Lionsgate+, offered as an add-on channel in Amazon Prime Video. | Lionsgate, read 10 October 2026 |
Viaplay’s deal for Starz’s content came more than a year before Starz’s own standalone service reached Sweden. When STARZPLAY was renamed in September 2022, MovieZine noted that everything on Lionsgate+ also appeared on Viaplay, and named Gaslit, with Julia Roberts, and the new Dangerous Liaisons as examples.
Five weeks after the rename, Lionsgate announced the Nordic exit. We looked for the message Swedish subscribers received and for the exact closing day, found neither, and so report the plan as it stood in February 2023 and nothing more. No single service took over the library; the Starz series now on Swedish services are in the table above.
The Lionsgate+ name is still used in Sweden, but no longer for a Starz service. On 10 October 2026 Lionsgate’s own page included Sweden among the countries where Lionsgate+ can be added as a channel inside Amazon Prime Video. That channel is Lionsgate’s, and Lionsgate has been separate from Starz since 7 May 2025. The page itself notes: “The content availability may vary by location.” We could not confirm which Starz series, if any, it carries in Sweden.

Old guides and old app listings are still around. These six points come from Starz’s own pages, read on 10 October 2026, and from the press release on its split from Lionsgate.
Starz’s Google Play listing limits its online services to the U.S. and certain U.S. territories, through participating partners. There is no Swedish edition to sign up for.
That day Starz completed its separation from Lionsgate and began trading on Nasdaq as STRZ. It put its audience at about 20 million subscribers in the U.S. and Canada at the end of 2024.
Americans watch on starz.com or in the STARZ app, sign in through a TV provider, or add Starz as a Prime Video Channel. That version plays in the Prime Video app; Amazon Channels sign-ins do not work in the STARZ app.
Starz’s help centre puts it in one line: “You can stream on up to 4 different devices at once.” Going past that, it adds, causes an error in the app.
The Google Play description lists offline viewing, via downloads, among the app’s features. So downloads depend on having the app, which is a store question; see the app-store section.
Starz Help: “STARZ provides a live stream on our website.” It keeps U.S. hours, so American evening programmes fall in the Swedish night.
For someone in Sweden, Starz therefore means two separate things: Starz series licensed to Swedish services, on Swedish dates, and Starz’s own U.S. service, with its own app, catalogue and rules on where it is offered. A U.S. address from USip matters only for the second, and even there it settles a single question: the address Starz sees.

New episodes usually reach the STARZ app at midnight Eastern Time on the U.S. release day, and sometimes the day after, when a series has its première on the Starz channel in the evening. Stockholm is normally six hours ahead of New York.
| In the U.S. (Eastern Time) | Stockholm, most weeks | Stockholm, 25–31 October 2026 and 14–27 March 2027 |
|---|---|---|
| Midnight at the start of a Friday: the usual app release (Parade, on Outlander) | Friday 06:00 | Friday 05:00 |
| 9 p.m. on a Friday: a channel première (TechRadar, on Spartacus: House of Ashur) | Saturday 03:00; the app follows on the U.S. Saturday | Saturday 02:00 |
| 8 p.m. on the live stream | 02:00 the next day | 01:00 the next day |
Swedish clocks go back an hour at 03:00 while the U.S. keeps summer time for a week, so a midnight release in New York appears at 05:00 in Stockholm.
American clocks go back too, and the six-hour gap returns for the winter: 06:00 for a midnight release, 03:00 for a 9 p.m. première.
The U.S. moves to summer time on 14 March and Sweden on 28 March, so for two weeks Friday releases arrive at 05:00 again.
Swedish services choose their own dates. MovieZine listed Viaplay’s Outlander finale and Prime Video’s Spartacus: House of Ashur for the Saturday after each American Friday.
Starz began the second season on Friday 18 September 2026. An episode released at midnight Eastern on Friday 30 October would land at 05:00 Swedish time, not 06:00.
American evenings fall between about 02:00 and 05:00 here. Do the four-step check by day, so a problem shows up long before you want to watch.
Worked out on 10 October 2026 from the IANA time zone data (release 2026c), using Python, for Europe/Stockholm and America/New_York. These figures convert the clock only; Starz decides when an episode appears.

Every Swedish connection, from fibre in a Stockholm flat to 5G at a summer cottage, shows websites a public address registered in Sweden, and that address is the first thing Starz reads. PTS, the Swedish Post and Telecom Authority, publishes who supplies those lines.
| Kind of line | Main providers, with PTS market shares for 2025 | What Starz sees |
|---|---|---|
| Fixed broadband over fibre, cable or DSL | Telia 29.2%, Tele2 with Com Hem 23.4%, Telenor 14.3%, Bredband2 12.1%, Bahnhof 8.5%, Allente 1.8%, Sappa 1.2%, other operators 9.5% | A Swedish IPv4 address, often with a Swedish IPv6 address beside it |
| Mobile on 4G or 5G | Telia 30.3%, Tele2 25.8%, Telenor 20.5%, Tre (Hi3G) 19.1%, all others 4.3% | A Swedish address on the phone, and on any laptop sharing its hotspot |
| Work, school, hotel or café Wi-Fi | Whoever runs the network | A Swedish address; some of these networks do not let OpenVPN Connect through |
The shares come from PTS’s report Svensk telekommarknad 2025, published on 25 May 2026, the newest full-year edition we found. At the end of 2025 Sweden had a little over 4.3 million fixed broadband connections, about 3.6 million of them on fibre, and PTS adds that Telia’s share of fixed broadband would rise to 41.3% once its takeover of Bredband2 is complete.
None of those names changes what Starz sees. A Telia fibre line in Umeå and Tre’s 5G on the train to Göteborg both show a Swedish address, and no router setting makes it American. Changing it takes a different route for that device, which is what a residential US IP provides.
IPv6 deserves a second look. Many Swedish lines give a device an IPv6 address next to the IPv4 one. If the U.S. connection carries only IPv4, a website can still reach you over IPv6 and see Telia, Tele2 or Bahnhof behind it. So step 1 of the check reads both lines, and the remedy is a connection that covers IPv6 as well, or IPv6 switched off on that device for the check.
In many blocks of flats the fibre comes through a city network (stadsnät) or the housing association’s agreement, and the router may not be yours to change. A television can still take Smart DNS details in its own settings; if your public address changes, register the new one with USip.

An address checker can say “United States” for set-ups with little in common. What matters is the kind of address that reaches Starz: one from a household internet provider, or one from a hosting company. Streaming services can look at that as well as at the country.
| Connection | What Starz receives | Good for | Keep in mind |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your own Swedish line | A Swedish address from Telia, Tele2, Telenor, Tre, Bahnhof or another provider | Viaplay, Netflix, Prime Video and the rest of Swedish streaming | Starz describes its online services as U.S.-only |
| A free VPN app | A server address that many strangers use at the same time | Very little that says anything about Starz | Crowded, often slow and nothing like a household |
| A data-centre VPN | An address registered to a hosting company | Privacy on public Wi-Fi | The location reads U.S., but the owner is a server business |
| USip residential U.S. IP | One ordinary consumer address on a U.S. internet provider | A first check on starz.com whose result you can read | Starz can still refuse it |
It supplies an address, and nothing beyond that.
If the address checks out and something still fails, look at the account or the device rather than at another server.

Use a laptop the first time: it shows the address and the player side by side. Each step removes one possible cause, so by the fourth the result means something.
Set up USip in OpenVPN Connect with the Windows guide or the Mac guide, connect, then open any IP address checker. Look for the United States on the IPv4 line. If an IPv6 line appears too, it must not name Telia, Tele2, Telenor, Tre, Bahnhof or any other Swedish provider; if it does, your Swedish line is still showing.
A private window starts without cookies from earlier visits over your Swedish line. Go to starz.com, and close other streaming tabs so that nothing else muddies the result.
With a Starz subscription you already have, sign in where you took it out: starz.com for a direct Starz account, or the Prime Video app or website for the Amazon channel, since Amazon Channels sign-ins do not work in the STARZ app. Let one episode run for a full minute. Without a subscription, only check that starz.com opens its U.S. home page.
If the episode keeps playing, the address side is settled for now. If an error or a message about your location appears, write it down word for word. Disconnect and reconnect USip, then make a single fresh attempt in a new private window. If the same wording comes back, send it to USip support instead of trying again and again.
A good minute settles the address on that evening and promises nothing for the next. Starz decides which connections it accepts and can turn any of them away, USip’s included. For USip’s own dated records, see USip’s published checks; we do not quote or summarise them in this guide.

USip recorded these four videos in September 2021. Their USip part still holds: install OpenVPN Connect, import the USip profile, connect. The rest has aged: the Starz screens are from 2021, every video shows a sign-up that no longer applies, and the phone videos switch the App Store or Google Play country, a step to leave out.

Follow the video until OpenVPN Connect shows the USip connection as active. Then ignore the 2021 Starz website and the old sign-up, and open starz.com in a private window (Ctrl+Shift+N in Chrome or Edge, Ctrl+Shift+P in Firefox). Avoid a work laptop that already runs a company VPN: with two tunnels you cannot know which one Starz saw.
Step by step: the Windows setup guide.

The connection half of the Mac video is unchanged. Turn off iCloud Private Relay if you use it, since Safari’s traffic would otherwise travel via Apple’s relays instead of USip, and read both lines of the address checker, since Swedish fibre often gives a Mac an IPv6 address. Skip the 2021 Starz pages and sign-up in the video.
Step by step: the Mac setup guide.

Set up OpenVPN Connect as shown, but leave out the part where the phone’s Google Play country becomes the U.S. Google Play Help says “To set up a new country or region, you must be in that location”, and that after a change you “must wait at least 90 days”. We did not check Google Play country by country, so we make no claim about the STARZ app there. Start with starz.com in Chrome, and exempt OpenVPN Connect from battery optimisation so Android does not close it mid-episode.
Step by step: the Android setup guide.

The STARZ app was not in the Swedish App Store on 10 October 2026. The video moves the Apple Account to the U.S. store and shows an old sign-up; both parts are out of date. Apple sets its own conditions for changing an account’s country or region, on the support page in our sources, and they apply to the whole account. Keep the OpenVPN Connect steps and begin with starz.com in Safari.
Step by step: the iOS setup guide.
Televisions, streaming sticks and games consoles cannot run OpenVPN Connect, so USip connects them with Smart DNS. USip first needs your home’s public IP address on record; the DNS details then go into the device’s network settings, or into the router once for the whole household. When your provider hands your home a new public address, register that one instead.
Starz’s help centre names Apple TV, Android TV, Roku, Samsung TV, Xbox and Amazon Fire TV. Whether their Swedish app stores offer the STARZ app we did not check. All four videos date from September 2021, so their Starz screens, store switch and sign-up steps are out of date.

One residential U.S. IP — an ordinary consumer address on a U.S. ISP, not a server range. USip and Starz are separate services: the plans include the connection only — not a Starz subscription, an app-store region or the rights to any series or film.
Separate services: these prices are for the USip residential U.S. IP service only. Starz is a separate service; a Starz subscription and access to any particular series or film are not part of a USip plan.
App stores follow the country of your Apple, Google or TV account, not the address of your connection. A U.S. address from USip leaves that country as it is.
When Apple’s stores were searched country by country on 10 October 2026, the STARZ app appeared in the U.S. store only. It was missing from the Swedish store, as from the British, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch and Brazilian ones.
Apple publishes the conditions for moving an Apple Account to another country or region. They concern everything on the account, not one app, and we do not suggest a move as part of a check.
We could not check the Swedish Play Store, so we make no claim either way. Google’s rule: you must be in a country to make it your Play country, then wait at least 90 days before changing again.
Starz names Apple TV, Android TV, Roku, Samsung TV, Xbox and Amazon Fire TV. We did not check which Swedish stores list the app. Where a set has it, USip connects it through Smart DNS.
Starz’s help centre says its Prime Video channel plays in the Prime Video app, and that Amazon Channels sign-ins do not work in the STARZ app. A Swedish Prime Video account is a separate matter, and we make no claim about it.
We do not suggest made-up addresses, borrowed U.S. ZIP codes or third-party app stores. If a store or a sign-up form asks for American details you do not have, stop there.
That is why the check begins in a laptop browser: starz.com involves no app store and no account country, and phones and televisions can follow once the laptop has given an answer.

We are not lawyers, and this is not legal advice. Below is what official Swedish sources and Swedish news reports said when we looked on 10 October 2026, and where our knowledge stops.
We have not found a Swedish law that bans VPN software in itself. Other rules still cover what you watch, download or share, whichever connection carries it.
A government inquiry, Åtgärder mot illegal ip-tv (SOU 2025:100), proposed fines for people who use illegal IPTV services, to start on 1 July 2026, TV4 reported. The Ministry of Culture sent it out for comment from 22 October 2025 to 22 January 2026. The reports we read describe a measure against illegal IPTV, not a ban on VPN software.
In a Riksdag debate on 16 February 2026 the Minister for Culture said it was not yet possible to say which proposals the government might bring forward. On 4 June 2026 TV4 reported that the government parties and their support party still disagreed. By 10 October 2026 we had found no proposition, the government’s formal proposal to the Riksdag, built on the inquiry.
Starz is a lawful U.S. service, and the inquiry is about unlawful ones. Separately from any law, Starz decides which connections it accepts and can refuse any of them, USip’s included. If the answer matters to you, ask a Swedish lawyer; on an employer’s or a university’s network, its IT rules apply too.

Short answers that stand on their own, from Starz’s pages, Swedish news reports, PTS and the Government Offices, checked on 10 October 2026. Where we do not know, we say so.
No. Starz’s Google Play listing, read on 10 October 2026, says: “STARZ online services are only accessible through participating partners in the U.S. and certain U.S. territories”. There is no Swedish edition, and that day the STARZ app was missing from the Swedish App Store. Several Starz series reach Sweden through other services instead, among them Outlander on Viaplay and Spartacus: House of Ashur on Prime Video, according to dated Swedish reports.
STARZPLAY came to Sweden as a service of its own in February 2022, after its content had reached Viaplay under a 2020 deal, and was renamed Lionsgate+ on 29 September 2022. On 3–4 November 2022 Lionsgate said it would leave the Nordics and six other markets; in February 2023 Señal News reported the exit was due by the end of March 2023. We could not find the exact last day in Sweden. Today Lionsgate’s own page lists Sweden for Lionsgate+ as an add-on channel inside Amazon Prime Video; that channel is Lionsgate’s, not Starz’s.
On Viaplay. MovieZine reported on 23 January 2026 that Viaplay would begin the eighth and final season on Saturday 7 March 2026, a day after Starz in the U.S., and that every earlier season was already there. The prequel, Outlander: Blood of My Blood, started on Viaplay on 8 November 2025. Licences can move, so search the title in the Viaplay app first.
We could not confirm it. Starz began the second season in the U.S. on Friday 18 September 2026. On 2 June 2026 MovieZine wrote that it was not yet known whether the season would come to Viaplay in Sweden, and by 10 October 2026 we had found no Swedish date. The first season reached Viaplay on 8 November 2025, so watch the Viaplay app.
Not on Netflix yet. TheWrap reported on 27 July 2026 that Power, Power Book II: Ghost, Power Book III: Raising Kanan and Power Book IV: Force are coming to Netflix internationally from November 2026, under a non-exclusive deal with Lionsgate Television. The only countries it leaves out are the U.S. and Canada, so Sweden is not excluded, but we found no Swedish date. The upcoming Power: Origins and Power: Legacy are not part of that deal.
On Prime Video: MovieZine listed it there from Saturday 6 December 2025. In the U.S. Starz showed the first episodes from 9 p.m. Eastern Time on Friday 5 December, 03:00 on Saturday in Stockholm, and TechRadar wrote that episodes reach the STARZ app the next day. Catalogues change, so check the Prime Video app for what it lists now.
No. When Apple’s stores were checked country by country on 10 October 2026, the STARZ app was listed in the U.S. store only. We did not check Google Play country by country, so we make no claim about it. Stores follow your account’s country, and Apple and Google publish their own rules for changing it. A laptop browser and starz.com avoid the question.
That is Starz’s decision, not USip’s. A residential US IP gives your device one ordinary household address on a U.S. internet provider, so Starz sees an American connection instead of a Swedish one. Starz can still refuse any connection, USip’s included, and we promise nothing. The honest way to find out is the four-step check on this page.
No. USip supplies one residential U.S. IP address, used through the OpenVPN Connect app on computers and phones or through Smart DNS on a television, and nothing else. A Starz account and every decision to play a title belong to Starz. USip has no link with Viaplay, Netflix or Prime Video either.
Starz’s help centre says: “You can stream on up to 4 different devices at once.” The same article adds that going beyond that causes an error in the app. The limit belongs to your Starz account and counts every device streaming on it, whatever connection each one uses, so USip has no say in it.
Start with a laptop, and move to the television only once the laptop shows that Starz accepts the connection. TVs, sticks and consoles cannot run OpenVPN Connect, so USip uses Smart DNS: USip records your home’s public IP address, and the DNS details go on the device or the router. Starz names Apple TV, Android TV, Roku, Samsung TV, Xbox and Amazon Fire TV; their Swedish app stores we did not check.
Usually at midnight Eastern Time on the U.S. release day, sometimes a day later. That is 06:00 in Stockholm for most of the year, and 05:00 from 25 to 31 October 2026 and from 14 to 27 March 2027, when only one side of the Atlantic has changed its clocks. A 9 p.m. Eastern première on the Starz channel falls at 03:00 the next morning.
We have not found a Swedish law that bans VPN software as such, but we are not lawyers and this is not legal advice. A government inquiry, SOU 2025:100, proposed fines for people who use illegal IPTV services; by 10 October 2026 we had found no proposition built on it. Starz, a lawful U.S. service, decides separately which connections it accepts.
Note the exact wording, or take a screenshot. Reconnect USip once and make one more attempt in a new private window. If the same words appear, stop and send them to USip support. Further attempts will not change Starz’s answer; they only blur what happened. Starz can refuse any connection, USip’s included, and we will not pretend otherwise.

The hub covers Starz for readers anywhere outside the U.S. From Sweden, the guides for Germany, France, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands share Stockholm’s clock, the UK runs an hour behind, and Brazil four or five hours behind, depending on the time of year.
The main pages behind this guide, each read on 10 October 2026. Other reports are named and dated in the text where we use them.
If the Starz series you want is Outlander, look in Viaplay first: MovieZine reported every season there, with nothing to set up. Spartacus: House of Ashur went to Prime Video in Sweden, and P-Valley to Netflix.
For Starz’s own U.S. service, give it ten minutes on one laptop: connect USip, read both address lines, open starz.com in a private window and play one episode in a subscription you already have. If an error or a location message appears, note the wording, try once more, then send it to USip support.
USip supplies the residential U.S. IP connection only. Starz accounts and catalogues, the Swedish services that show Starz series, the country of your app store and anything to do with Swedish law are matters outside it.
