No Qatari HBO Max has ever existed, and no Middle Eastern country appears on HBO Max’s list. In the highest-income country in this set, the prestige drama turns up in an unexpected way: attached to a phone plan.
HBO Max is not listed as a direct service in Qatar. HBO programmes are available through the regional OSN+ service, which documents direct card subscriptions as well as benefits through selected Ooredoo plans. These are OSN+ routes, not a US HBO Max subscription; check the exact title and season before paying.

Everywhere else in this set the question is what HBO costs. Here the more useful question is what it comes attached to.
OSN, the Dubai-based operator, holds HBO content for the region, and describes it on its own help centre this way:
“Exclusive HBO, and Paramount+ content.” — OSN+ Help — what differentiates OSN
OSN's Qatar-specific Ooredoo help article describes one operator benefit. Its separate card-payment instructions also provide a direct subscription route:
“Visit ooredoo.qa to get complimentary access to OSN+ subscription with selected Ooredoo plans” — OSN+ Help — subscribing via Ooredoo Qatar
Vodafone Qatar does the same thing on the television side, including OSNtv in its GigaHome Fibre plan “with No Additional Costs” — up to 170 channels bundled into a broadband subscription.
So in one of the wealthiest countries on earth, HBO’s output often is not a purchase decision at all. It is a line item in a telecoms package, alongside the data allowance.
How HBO content is actually sold in Qatar, per the operators
| Route into HBO content in Qatar | What the operator says |
|---|---|
| Ooredoo mobile plans | “Complimentary access to OSN+ subscription with selected Ooredoo plans” — OSN does not list which plans |
| Vodafone Qatar GigaHome Fibre | OSNtv included “with No Additional Costs”, up to 170 channels |
| Buying OSN+ directly in Qatar | Direct credit or debit card signup is documented; a standalone QAR price has not been verified here. |
OSN+ documents direct card signup. Check the final price, currency and renewal terms in the official checkout. This guide has not verified a standalone Qatari-riyal price; a reseller's gift-card price is not evidence of OSN+'s own charge.
One number OSN did publish is about attention rather than money. When House of the Dragon returned in June 2026, OSN reported that 42% of all active OSN+ subscribers watched the first episode within a day, with viewing of the earlier seasons up 167% in the fortnight before. That figure is regional, not Qatari — but it is the kind of engagement number HBO Max rarely discloses for its own markets.
“The biggest streaming moments no longer begin when the first episode drops. They begin weeks earlier.” — Teresa Rio, VP Marketing, OSN+ and Anghami, June 2026

HBO Max publishes its own country list. Qatar’s absence is not a Qatari story — it is a regional one.
HBO Max’s own availability list, read on 24 September 2026
| Region | On HBO Max’s list? | Note |
|---|---|---|
| United States and its territories | Yes | The U.S. library, U.S. release dates and the live-sports slate |
| Europe and Central Asia | Yes | Around 45 countries, including Türkiye and Kazakhstan |
| Latin America and the Caribbean | Yes | Effectively all of it |
| Asia-Pacific | Yes | Australia to Nepal, India since April 2026, Japan from 1 October |
| The Gulf and the wider Middle East | No | Not Qatar, and not one of its neighbours either |
Qatar has the highest income per head of any country in this family of guides, a near-universal smartphone base and a population that watches a great deal of imported television. On any commercial reading it is an obvious market. It is not on the list, and neither is any country near it.
The reason is structural rather than commercial. The regional rights sit with OSN under a multi-year exclusive arrangement, and in March 2025 Warner Bros. Discovery bought roughly a third of OSN Streaming for $57 million. Launching HBO Max here would mean competing with a business its own parent part-owns.

What the American service costs, and what Qatar cannot buy at any price from anybody.
Prices checked against HBO Max’s own plan page on 24 September 2026. They are the same everywhere in the United States.
US HBO Max, from HBO Max’s own plan page
| Plan | Monthly | Yearly | Streams | Quality | Downloads | Live sports |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basic with Ads | $10.99 | $109.99 | 2 | 1080p | None | No |
| Standard | $18.49 | $184.99 | 2 | 1080p | 30 | Yes |
| Premium | $22.99 | $229.99 | 4 (2 for sports) | 4K, Dolby Atmos where available | 100 | Yes |
“Prices don’t include applicable taxes.” — HBO Max Help — plans and prices
“Live Sports on HBO Max is included with the Standard and Premium plans.” — HBO Max Help — sports
That sports line is the part that does not travel and the part most people are actually after. In HBO Max’s own words:
“With Sports on HBO Max, you can stream live games, matches, and events in 2026, including: MLB, NASCAR, NCAA Big 12 and Big East, NCAA College Football Playoffs, NCAA March Madness®, NHL, Roland-Garros, T100, Unrivaled, WEC, Cycling, Players Era Festival, U.S. Men’s and Women’s National Soccer Team matches, and The Match.” — HBO Max Help — sports on HBO Max
None of that is sold in Qatar by anyone, at any price. It is a United States product with United States rights behind it.

These are HBO Max’s rules, not this site’s reading of them, and they apply to every subscriber wherever they are.
“If you travel to a country or region where HBO Max is not available, you won’t be able to stream.” — HBO Max Help — where HBO Max is available
“HBO Max is currently available in these countries and regions:” — HBO Max Help — the availability list itself
Two things follow that are worth separating. A subscription does not stop existing when you cross a border — billing, plan and profiles carry on. What changes is what the app will play, and in a country HBO Max does not serve, the answer is nothing.
The availability list is also the thing to check rather than trust second-hand. It is edited as markets launch, and it has lagged: Japan is getting HBO Max on 1 October 2026 inside Prime Video and Hulu, which is the kind of change that reaches the press before it reaches the help centre.

One layer of the stack, described plainly, with the other layers left where they are.
USip sells the network part and nothing else. Every HBO Max rule above still applies in full.
A regional caution applies here as everywhere in the Gulf: Paramount Skydance’s acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery is agreed but not completed and is subject to litigation, and neither Warner Bros. Discovery nor OSN has said what any of it means for OSN+.

Each one is quick, and each one can save a subscription you would have had to cancel.
If you are an Ooredoo mobile customer or on Vodafone GigaHome Fibre, you may already have access to OSN and not know it. That is the cheapest possible answer and it costs nothing to check.
OSN+ supports direct card subscriptions. Check the official checkout for its final price and currency, and ask your operator separately whether your existing plan includes an OSN+ benefit.
OSN+ and US HBO Max have separate subscriptions and rights. Check the exact sporting event with its current regional broadcaster before deciding whether you need a US service.
Connect the residential U.S. address first, open a private desktop window, and play one ordinary on-demand title. One result, one variable.

A residential U.S. IP address. It is the network layer only — the HBO Max subscription is separate and is not included.
No. HBO Max publishes the list of countries and regions it serves, and Qatar is not on it. Nothing has been announced either.
No — it was never there. There has been no Qatari HBO Max to withdraw. That matters because “bring it back” campaigns are arguing for something that never existed.
Yes, and it is worth knowing because it shows how these launches happen. HBO Max reached India on 15 April 2026, and reaches Japan on 1 October 2026 — in both cases not as its own app, but as a hub inside an existing service (JioHotstar; Prime Video and Hulu Japan). Neither market appeared on HBO Max’s own availability page for months afterwards, which is why this page treats that page as a starting point rather than the last word.
No, and this is the error nearly every page on the subject makes. HBO Max passed 100 markets in October 2025 and its own list runs to roughly 140 countries and territories. It is simply not sold in Qatar.
Warner Bros. Discovery. Paramount Skydance agreed to buy it, and that deal had not closed as of 22 September 2026 — Netflix, which was reported as a bidder, withdrew. Nobody has said what any of it means for licences outside the United States, so this page does not guess.
This page will not tell you that, because nobody outside HBO Max can. A residential U.S. IP changes one layer — the address a service reads. Your account country, your plan, the catalogue licence and the app store all sit above it and are untouched.
You might, and it costs nothing to check. OSN’s own Qatari page points at Ooredoo for “complimentary access to OSN+ subscription with selected Ooredoo plans”, and Vodafone Qatar includes OSNtv in its GigaHome Fibre package. Neither publishes which plans qualify, so ask the operator.
OSN+ is the regional route for HBO programmes. You can check direct card signup or selected Ooredoo-plan benefits; a television or mobile bundle is not a general requirement. Confirm the exact programme and season in OSN+.
OSN+ documents direct card signup, but this guide has not verified a standalone QAR price. Check the official checkout for its currency, final price and renewal terms. Ask Ooredoo separately about any included benefit; reseller prices are not OSN+'s own price.
OSN+ is not a US HBO Max sports subscription. Check the exact event and its current regional broadcaster; a difference between subscription packages does not prove the event is unavailable in Qatar.
OSN has committed publicly to releasing HBO titles in the region at the same time as their international premieres, and the June 2026 return of House of the Dragon is consistent with that — OSN published viewing figures for the first episode within days of the U.S. premiere.

Availability, prices and catalogues all move. Every factual claim on this page links to the page it came from.
HBO Max is a third-party service and is not affiliated with USip. HBO Max controls account eligibility, prices, catalogues, supported devices and content rights, and all of them change.
Confirm what your account is actually entitled to. Connect the residential U.S. address before you open HBO Max. Use a clean browser session. Then play one ordinary on-demand title your plan includes — not the newest thing, not a live game. That single result tells you more than an evening of retrying will.

In Qatar, start with the entertainment benefit on your Ooredoo or Vodafone bill. If it supplies OSN+, activate that benefit and search for the episode there. Use the videos below if you already have a separate US HBO Max account and want to check its connection on your own device.
These USip recordings use the earlier Max name. Follow the connection steps, then use your current HBO Max account and billing provider. The older sign-up screens and store settings in the videos may differ today.
