ESPN in the Netherlands: Dutch Coverage and US Access
ESPN is available in the Netherlands through local TV providers, with Dutch football and selected American sports. US ESPN Select and Unlimited are separate offers, so the useful comparison is the event and package you need.
This guide explains the difference and how to configure the USip residential US IP service when testing access with your US ESPN account.

Short Answer
Can you watch ESPN in the Netherlands? Yes. Dutch ESPN carries local competitions and selected US sports; Ziggo lists NFL, NHL, MLB, NBA and college sport among its coverage. US ESPN Select and Unlimited have separate packages and account requirements. Check your chosen event on Dutch ESPN before assuming it requires a US subscription. Ziggo: Dutch ESPN channels and sports lists both Dutch competitions and American sports. Avoid treating a whole league as available exclusively through one country’s ESPN service.
Check Your ESPN Subscription and Activation
For Dutch ESPN, use your TV provider’s current instructions and channel package. For the American service, confirm the US plan or provider entitlement attached to your account.

ESPN Select or Unlimited: Which Plan Do You Need?
ESPN Select provides access to ESPN+ content. ESPN Unlimited adds the broader ESPN network offering. Check the event’s required service before choosing either plan.

Use a Residential US IP for the American Service
USip residential US IP service routes VPN traffic through real US home broadband. Your assigned public IP is used by one USip customer at a time, with one simultaneous VPN connection. The US location is assigned automatically; USip does not offer a fixed IP or a city selector.
Use OpenVPN Connect and your USip profile on Windows, Mac, Android or iPhone/iPad. TVs, streaming boxes and consoles use Smart DNS, configured on the device or router after registering your home network’s public IP.
USip provides the connection; your ESPN account and content subscription are separate. Try the device and programme you intend to use during the USip trial. A successful connection does not guarantee every title, live event or app will play.
How to Check and Set Up ESPN from the Netherlands
- Find the event on both schedules. Check Dutch ESPN first, then the US ESPN listing. Note the required channel or plan and confirm that your account includes it.
- Prepare your USip connection. Start the USip trial and obtain your service credentials and profile. Streaming subscriptions are purchased separately.
- Connect the device you will use. On a computer or phone, use OpenVPN Connect and verify the VPN public IP. For TVs and streaming devices, follow the Smart DNS guide, including home-IP registration.
- Open the US ESPN service and check your chosen programme. Sign in to your own account. Compare the catalogue before and after connecting, then try the actual title, channel or live event you want. Record its name and any error message.

For a television, streaming box or console, use the Smart DNS guide. Register the public IP of the network where the device will be used, then enter USip DNS on the device or router. An IP lookup may still show your usual country with this setup.
Install a ESPN app supported in your device’s store, or use its supported web player. Changing a network address does not automatically change an app-store account or activate a streaming subscription.

Can I watch NFL on Dutch ESPN?
Dutch ESPN does carry selected NFL coverage; Ziggo’s current listing also names NFL RedZone. Check the specific fixture, channel and package. It is incorrect to assume Dutch ESPN has no American sport. Ziggo: Dutch ESPN channels and sports.
Can I use this guide to watch Dutch ESPN while abroad?
