How to Watch Hulu in Indonesia
Short answer: U.S. Hulu is sold only in the United States. The Hulu you may have met in Indonesia is a tile inside Disney+ — the service called Disney+ Hotstar until 9 October 2025 — and it holds what Disney has licensed for Indonesia, not the American catalogue.
For U.S. Hulu itself, normally an account someone opened while living in the States, two conditions have to hold at once: a U.S. Hulu account whose plan includes the title, and a connection Hulu treats as an American home. USip supplies the connection. Nothing else.
The Indonesian twist is that the connection side is moving. IPv6, the newer internet address system, reached about a quarter of Indonesian users by mid-2026, up from 15% a year earlier, after a government push. A setup that worked last year can quietly fail this year. This page shows how to check — from Jakarta to Jayapura.

Indonesian coverage put the rename and the arrival of Hulu on the same day. The tile comes with the Disney+ subscription and carries what Disney licenses for Indonesia.
September 2026
A new Disney+ app
Disney has been moving Southeast Asian subscribers to its global app; GadgetMatch gave 3 September 2026 as the date of Indonesia’s switch. If your app suddenly looks different, that is why. The Hulu tile is still there.
Disney’s Indonesian site lists Hulu next to Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic. On 29 September 2026 it showed Standard at Rp65,000 a month (Rp450,000 a year) and Premium at Rp119,000 (Rp799,000 a year), with the tile included in both. What it does not bring is the American library: coverage of the launch was explicit that the tile would not include everything available on Hulu in the United States.

Hulu’s terms, and who they leave room for
Hulu’s help centre and Subscriber Agreement are short and unambiguous. They are worth reading in Hulu’s words rather than anyone’s summary, ours included.
Territory
One country and its territories
The service is “only available in the United States and certain of its territories,” and “The videos on Hulu are only available in the U.S.” Eligibility is drawn the same way: “Only residents of the countries and territories where we offer the Services … are eligible to subscribe.”
Travel
U.S. soil, and nowhere else
On-demand subscribers “are able to stream anywhere in the U.S. — including Puerto Rico and U.S. military bases.” For Live TV, subscribers are “not able to stream in U.S. territories, on U.S. military bases, or internationally.” Indonesia sits outside both allowances.
Location
No disguising it
You “may not access the Services from locations where we do not have rights,” and the agreement asks subscribers not to use “any technology or technique to obscure or disguise your location.” A residential U.S. IP changes the location Hulu reads, so this is the clause to weigh.
In practice nobody in Indonesia can open a Hulu account from scratch, and nothing sold here converts into one. The people this page is for already have a U.S. account: Indonesians who studied or worked in the States and kept it, Americans posted to Jakarta or living in Bali, families who split the year between the two countries.
We put the disguise clause on the page on purpose. It is better to decide with Hulu’s terms in front of you than to find them afterwards.

The change most guides have not caught up with
IPv6 is switching on across Indonesia — re-check what worked before
IPv6 is the newer internet address system. For years few Indonesian connections used it. That is changing fast, and it changes how a U.S. connection can leak.

Check both address lines every time
An address checker shows IPv4 and, where your line has it, IPv6. Both must read United States, or the IPv6 line must be empty, before Hulu opens.
Treat anything new as a new test
A new phone, a replaced router or an operator update can switch IPv6 on without telling you. The first test after any change is a fresh test, not a repeat.
Close the second route
Use a connection that also carries IPv6, or switch IPv6 off on that one device while testing — then look at both lines again.
Do not lean on an old result
A setup that passed in 2025 on an IPv4-only line proves little about the same line in 2026. The address plan underneath it has changed.
The figures are the Internet Society’s, published in June 2026. APNIC’s own blog put Indonesia at 18.4% in early 2026, and the Internet Society’s country report says 24%: different measurement windows give different numbers. Hulu reads the public address your request comes from. Every consumer network in Indonesia hands out an Indonesian one, and the arithmetic says most of them have to share it.

Twelve people to an address only works if addresses are shared, and Telkomsel has said as much: IPv6, in its network director’s words, has reduced its reliance on carrier-grade NAT, the technique that puts many customers behind one public IPv4 address. For Hulu that matters because its help page lists an address “block listed because of previous anonymous proxy use” among the causes of its location error — and a shared address carries everyone’s history, not just yours.
One more Indonesian oddity: in the Internet Society’s 2026 figures, average mobile speeds beat average fixed-line speeds. Testing over mobile data, or with a laptop tethered to a phone, is fine — as long as both address lines are checked on that connection.

Choosing a U.S. connection that gives a readable answer
A checker that says United States is only half the job. Hulu’s help page names the kind of address it distrusts — “a VPN or VPS” — which is why a cheap endpoint can fail with the right flag on it.

What the residential U.S. IP does

Four steps, one variable at a time
How to test U.S. Hulu from Indonesia
Each step rules one cause out. Do them in order, and a failure at the last step can only mean one thing.
Confirm the account before you touch the connection
Log in to your U.S. Hulu account page and make sure the plan is active and includes the title — Hulu With Ads, Hulu Premium, a bundle or Live TV. While you are at it, search the Hulu tile in your Indonesian Disney+. If the account could not play the title in America, nothing done in Indonesia will make it play.
Use a laptop, on the connection you really use
Set up with the Windows or Mac guide. If your household lives on mobile data, tether the laptop to the phone so that you test the network you actually depend on. The Android and iOS guides come after a laptop has passed, and a television, which runs on USip’s Smart DNS rather than the app, after that.
Check IPv4 and IPv6 — this year, not last year
An address checker must show a U.S. address on the IPv4 line, and a U.S. address or nothing on the IPv6 line. If the IPv6 line names Telkomsel, Telkom, Indosat or XL, deal with that first, even if the same setup was clean a year ago. Then open hulu.com in a private window.
Let one episode run, then sort any error into its pile
Pick a standard on-demand episode from your plan and give it a full minute. If it fails, sort what you see: Hulu’s location error, P-EDU101, sends you back to step three; an app that Google Play or the App Store will not offer or install is a store-country question; a title missing from search is a licence question.
If a plain episode plays but one title will not, the connection has done its job. The rest is the plan or the licence, and neither responds to a different server.

Laptop to prove it, phone to live with it
Hulu on each device, set up from Indonesia
Devices change what you can see, not what Hulu checks. Two things are different in Indonesia: the ministry has asked makers to ship phones and routers with IPv6 switched on, and mobile connections here are faster on average than fixed ones. Prove the setup on a laptop anyway, then move to the phone. The videos below date from December 2022; the connection steps hold, and Hulu’s screens have moved on since.
Windows
Hulu on Windows, with one eye on IPv6
A Windows browser test depends on three things only — the connection, the public address and the cookies — because no app store is involved. Import the USip OpenVPN profile, connect, and read both lines of an address checker: a quarter of Indonesian users now have IPv6, and Windows uses it whenever it can. With both lines clear, open hulu.com in a private window (Ctrl+Shift+N in Chrome or Edge, Ctrl+Shift+P in Firefox).

macOS
Hulu on macOS, and the side doors Apple adds
A Mac has two routes that can skip the connection you just made. iCloud Private Relay, if your Mac offers it and it is on, carries Safari through Apple’s relays — switch it off before testing. And if your router or phone hotspot gives the Mac an IPv6 address, Safari will use it first. When Chrome works and Safari does not, look at those two before anything else.

Android
Hulu on Android, and the Indonesian Play Store
Google Play lists apps by the Google account’s country. An Indonesian account shows Disney+, with its Hulu tile, but not the U.S. Hulu app. Changing the account’s country has knock-on effects on purchases and subscriptions, so decide it separately. Two local points: since the ministry’s 2024 circular, a new phone may arrive with IPv6 already on; and the connection app needs an exemption from battery optimisation, or Android may shut it mid-episode.

iPhone and iPad
Hulu on iPhone and iPad, and the Apple Account region
Apple decides which apps you see by Apple Account country. An Indonesian account shows Disney+ and not U.S. Hulu, whichever address you connect from. Moving the account to another country touches subscriptions and Family Sharing, and Apple sets its own conditions. When the Hulu app is installed, keep Location Services off for it on the first run, and check both address lines in Safari before opening it.

Smart TVs, streaming sticks and consoles have no way to run the OpenVPN Connect app; they work through USip’s Smart DNS. The order is: register your home’s public IP address with USip, then type the DNS addresses into the device’s network settings, or into the router once to cover the whole home. Indonesia keeps three time zones, and none of them uses daylight saving. The United States does, so the gap moves by an hour twice a year — in 2026, on 8 March and 1 November.

Hulu says Live TV subscribers are “not able to stream in U.S. territories, on U.S. military bases, or internationally.” Plan around on-demand episodes, which appear once Hulu has added them after broadcast.

Bring the connection up and read both address lines first. A page opened a moment earlier over your Indonesian line leaves a location decision in a cookie that outlasts the fix.
Clear hulu.com data between attempts
If you retry, clear the site data for hulu.com or open a new private window. Otherwise you are re-reading the first answer, not testing a new one.
Keep one address for the whole sitting
Changing servers halfway through makes the account look as if it is jumping between American cities. Pick one and stay on it until you stop watching.
Download at home before the commute or the flight
Hulu Premium allows downloads in the phone and tablet apps, for titles whose rights permit it. Start them at home with the U.S. connection up, and the episode plays offline wherever the signal drops.
Schedules aside, the routine is the same in all three zones: connect, check both lines, then open Hulu.

What to know about the Hulu account before you begin
Three of these can stop you before the connection matters at all.
Hulu’s prices
In the U.S., Hulu With Ads is $12.49 a month and Hulu Premium $21.49, the prices since 23 September 2026. Premium is the plan with downloads. Live TV costs more, and Hulu does not allow it abroad.
No trial on the standard plans
Neither Hulu With Ads nor Hulu Premium comes with a free trial. Hulu attaches its trials to the Live TV bundle, for people without Hulu in the past twelve months — the tier that cannot be streamed from Indonesia.
Entitlements go plan by plan, title by title
Add-ons, live channels and 4K are separate. A title outside the plan fails exactly like a location problem until you check the plan.
The app-store country is its own decision
The Hulu app appears by Apple Account and Google Play country, not by address. Changing either affects existing subscriptions — the Indonesian Disney+ one included — so test in a browser first and decide afterwards.
USip supplies the residential U.S. IP connection only. The Hulu account, the plan and the rights to each title are Hulu’s, and Hulu can block any address — its own pages say so.

Indonesian rules, handled with care
VPNs and blocked sites in Indonesia: what this page will not claim
Readers ask whether VPNs are allowed in Indonesia. It is a fair question, and we have not found a primary Indonesian source that answers it plainly — so we will not answer it from secondhand articles.
We know of no Indonesian regulation aimed at VPN software in general. Rules on which sites and apps may be reached are a separate matter and can change quickly. If it matters to you — for work, or on an office or campus network — check with a local source you trust.
Hulu’s side is written down, so we can state it plainly: the Subscriber Agreement asks subscribers not to use “any technology or technique to obscure or disguise your location.” That applies in Indonesia as anywhere else.

Is Hulu available in Indonesia?
The American service is not — Hulu sells it in the United States only. Indonesia has a Hulu tile inside Disney+, added on 9 October 2025 when Disney+ Hotstar became Disney+. It shows Disney’s Indonesian catalogue, not U.S. Hulu.
Is the Hulu in Disney+ Hotstar the same as American Hulu?
No. What used to be the Star shelf now carries the Hulu name in Disney’s international apps, Japan aside, and Indonesia got it on 9 October 2025. The branding travelled; the U.S. licences did not, so the tile does not include everything U.S. Hulu has. Search it for your title first.
Can I sign up for Hulu while living in Indonesia?
No. Hulu’s help centre says “The videos on Hulu are only available in the U.S.” and a new subscriber needs “To be located within the U.S.” A residential U.S. IP changes an address, not an account; this page is for people who already have one.
Can I use my U.S. Hulu account in Indonesia?
Only for what your plan covers, and only on a connection Hulu reads as an American household. On-demand subscribers “are able to stream anywhere in the U.S. — including Puerto Rico and U.S. military bases.” Indonesia is outside that, which is why an active account shows a location error in Jakarta.
Why did Hulu work last year and not now?
If nothing changed on the account, suspect IPv6. Between June 2025 and June 2026 the share of Indonesian users with IPv6 went from about 15% to about 26%. A line that was IPv4-only may now carry an Indonesian IPv6 address alongside your U.S. IPv4 one — and Hulu can see it.
Why does Telkomsel always look Indonesian to Hulu?
Its addresses are Indonesian, and they are shared. Indonesia has about 19.4 million IPv4 addresses for some 229 million people online, and Telkomsel has said IPv6 is reducing its reliance on carrier-grade NAT — the address sharing that bridges that gap.
Is it any different in Bali or Makassar?
Not for Hulu: every Indonesian network hands out an Indonesian address. What changes is the clock. Bali and Makassar are on WITA, an hour ahead of Jakarta, so U.S. evening shows land an hour later in your morning.
The checker says United States. Why does Hulu still refuse?
Three usual causes, in the order worth checking: an Indonesian IPv6 address still visible beside the U.S. one; a location verdict saved in hulu.com cookies from an earlier visit; or an address of the kind Hulu flags — “a VPN or VPS” — or one block listed because of previous anonymous proxy use. Change one thing, then retry.
Does Hulu + Live TV work in Indonesia?
No. Hulu states that Live TV subscribers are “not able to stream in U.S. territories, on U.S. military bases, or internationally.” The on-demand library is the part that can work from here.
What time do new U.S. episodes reach Indonesia?
An 8 p.m. broadcast on the U.S. East Coast is 7 a.m. in Jakarta, 8 a.m. in Bali and 9 a.m. in Jayapura during the U.S. summer, and an hour later in the U.S. winter. The episode is there to stream once Hulu has added it.
My Disney+ app changed in September. Is the Hulu tile gone?
No. Disney has been moving Southeast Asian subscribers to its global Disney+ app, and GadgetMatch gave 3 September 2026 as the date of Indonesia’s switch. The Disney+ listing in the Indonesian App Store still names Hulu among its brands.
Is using a VPN legal in Indonesia?
We know of no Indonesian regulation aimed at VPN software in general, but we have not found a primary source that settles it, and rules on reaching blocked sites and apps are a separate matter that can change. Check locally. Hulu’s terms, which ask subscribers not to disguise their location, apply regardless.
Does USip include Hulu?
No. USip provides a residential U.S. IP connection. The Hulu account, its plan and the rights to every title are Hulu’s.
Is Hulu closing down?
No date has been announced. Disney is folding Hulu into the Disney+ app and said in 2026 that it had no current plan to phase the Hulu app out; Hulu is still sold on its own, at new prices since 23 September 2026. Reports of a shutdown remain unconfirmed.
