Sweden, Denmark and Norway got Pluto TV in 2022. Finland got channels inside Ruutu.

How to Watch Pluto TV in Finland

Short answer: Pluto TV has no app or website of its own for Finland. Paramount’s Nordic launch on 18 May 2022 named three countries — Sweden, Denmark and Norway — and Finland was not one of them. When we looked on 6 October 2026, the Finnish App Store did not list the Pluto TV app either.

What Finland did get came a year later, in another form. On 15 June 2023 Sanoma announced a Pluto TV branded zone inside Ruutu, its own streaming service, with “over 35 new channels exclusive on Ruutu”, free to watch with ad breaks. Those channels belong to Ruutu and were picked for Finland; they are not the U.S. Pluto TV service. We could not confirm that the section is still there in October 2026, so open Ruutu’s Kanavat (channels) section before anything else.

If it is the American service you are after, its welcome page sums it up in one line: “Watch 250+ channels of free TV and 1000s of on-demand movies and TV shows.” Checking it from Finland takes a laptop, a residential U.S. IP and pluto.tv in a private window — and no account. Know Pluto TV’s rule before you begin: “Since we can’t determine the exact purpose or use for a VPN or proxy, we need to block any use of them.” It can turn any address away, ours included.

What Finland already has: Pluto channels in Ruutu, Paramount series on SkyShowtime

Finland sits in an odd spot. Pluto TV launched in three Nordic neighbours and not here, yet the Pluto name still reached Finnish screens — through Sanoma’s Ruutu. Below is what we could source on 6 and 7 October 2026, each item with its date.

ServiceWhat the source says, and whenWhat it means for you
Pluto TV section in RuutuAnnounced by Sanoma on 15 June 2023 and “launched jointly by Paramount Global and Sanoma in Finland”. More than 35 channels at launch, in Ruutu’s Kanavat section, free with ad breaks and a Ruutu login. The 2023 line-up included CSI: Miami, South Park, Frasier, Beverly Hills 90210, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Paw Patrol (Ryhmä Hau) and SpongeBob, plus Finnish channels such as Syke. The nearest thing to Pluto TV made for Finland — but a Ruutu product, not the U.S. service. Not confirmed for October 2026: look at the Kanavat section yourself.
Ruutu itselfSanoma’s streaming service. At the 2023 launch it counted more than forty free streaming channels in all, Nelonen, Jim, Liv and Hero among them.Finnish television, plus the Pluto section if it is still running.
SkyShowtimeTechRadar’s Finnish edition, 5 September 2022: launching in Finland on 20 September 2022 as the replacement for Paramount+, with programmes from Paramount Pictures, Showtime and Nickelodeon next to Sky, NBCUniversal, Peacock and DreamWorks Animation. Titles named then included Halo, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, South Park and Frasier.Where Paramount+ programmes went in Finland in 2022. Not free: it needs a subscription. We did not check its October 2026 catalogue.
Paramount+Replaced here by SkyShowtime in September 2022, according to the same report. We found no separate Finnish Paramount+ on 6 October 2026, and no Paramount statement either way.
Yle AreenaYleisradio’s own app. Its App Store description opens “Yle Areena on Suomen monipuolisin suoratoistopalvelu.” — Finland’s most versatile streaming service, in Yle’s words — and lists live Yle channels, series, films and podcasts.Public-service television, with no connection to Paramount or Pluto TV.
MTV KatsomoThe app of MTV Oy, a Finnish broadcaster. Log in and you can watch “monia ohjelmia maksutta” (many programmes free); MTV Katsomo+ adds more entertainment and sport.Despite the name, not Paramount’s MTV. The letters are shared; the companies are not.
Samsung TV Plus, LG Channels, Rakuten TV, Plex, TubiNot confirmed. We found no first-party page showing which of them offer free channels in Finland.Look at the apps on your own television rather than at lists online.

Jesper Dahl, Pluto TV’s general manager for the Nordics, described the deal at the time: “We are very happy to launch Pluto TV in Finland with a branded section on the Ruutu platform.” What Finland never received is the standalone service its neighbours have — the app, the website and a Pluto TV line-up of its own. We have found nothing first-party that explains why, and we will not guess.

So read the table from the top. If the shows you miss are CSI: Miami, Star Trek: The Next Generation or South Park, Ruutu’s Pluto section carried channels for all three at launch — local, at Finnish hours, with no change of address. If you want what Ruutu never carried, such as the American channel grid and U.S. news, that is the U.S. service, and the rest of this guide is about reaching it. Nickelodeon or MTV channels may also be in your TV package; we did not check operators’ lists.

Every row is a snapshot with a date. Channels arrive and leave in Ruutu, SkyShowtime and Pluto TV alike, so trust what the app in front of you shows over any list, ours included.

Pluto TV’s own wording, quoted

Six things Pluto TV says about itself, read from Finland

Pluto TV’s help centre is short and plain. Here are its sentences, copied on 6 October 2026, with what each means for a reader in Finland.

The message

“Please disable these services on your device to stream videos.”

Pluto TV shows this when it believes your device is connected to “a VPN, proxy service, or other software” that may send traffic outside your region. It is a verdict on the connection, not on you or any account.

The reason

It blocks every VPN or proxy it detects

“Since we can’t determine the exact purpose or use for a VPN or proxy, we need to block any use of them.” There is no sorting of good uses from bad ones. Once Pluto TV spots a VPN or proxy, the answer is no, whoever supplies the connection.

The region rule

Apps for devices “available in your region”

Pluto TV’s device page lists its platforms with that condition, and keeps a separate list for the United States only, with Chromecast, PlayStation 4 and 5, Sony TVs, TiVo and Vizio on it. Pluto TV runs no service of its own for Finland.

Free to watch

“Drop in. It’s free.”

So says Pluto TV’s welcome page. The U.S. service runs on adverts, and pressing play needs no account.

Accounts

Optional, and only for extras

“Sign up to enjoy a personalized experience, a kid-friendly space, the latest updates and more.” Nothing in that list is needed to watch, which is why the check further down never asks you to sign up.

Browsers

The web player needs no store

Pluto TV’s device page lists current web browsers — Safari, Edge, Chrome and Firefox — and a desktop app for Windows 11. With no Pluto TV app in the Finnish App Store, the browser is the route that leaves the store question out entirely.

Put the six together and the order becomes clear: the connection first, because Pluto TV judges it before anything else, and an account last, if at all. A residential U.S. IP is an ordinary household address rather than a server range, but Pluto TV decides what it accepts, and it can refuse ours.

The American service, side by side with Ruutu’s

What the U.S. Pluto TV service gives you, and what it asks

The U.S. service and Ruutu’s Pluto section share a logo and not much else. Here is the American side in Pluto TV’s own words, next to what Sanoma said about the Ruutu section in June 2023.

QuestionU.S. Pluto TV, in its own wordsRuutu’s Pluto section (Sanoma, June 2023)
Is it free?“Drop in. It’s free.” Adverts keep it running.“All content can be viewed completely free of charge.” With ad breaks.
How much is there?“Watch 250+ channels of free TV and 1000s of on-demand movies and TV shows.”Over 35 channels at launch, inside a Ruutu offer of more than forty free channels in all.
Live channels?“Watch 100s of free channels - with local & national news, live sports, fan-favorite shows, movies and more.”Channels built around single shows, children’s favourites and Finnish series.
On demand?“Explore 1000s of on-demand movies to full seasons of binge-worthy shows.”The release described channels; Ruutu’s catch-up programmes are a separate part of the service.
Do I need an account? No. Signing up is optional and adds extras such as a personalised experience and a kid-friendly space.Yes. The Finnish release says watching “edellyttää ainoastaan kirjautumisen Ruutuun” — needs only a Ruutu login.
What does signing up ask for?Name, date of birth, gender and a ZIP code, which is a U.S. postcode.A Ruutu login, on Ruutu’s terms.

Our advice on the U.S. account is short: skip it. You do not need one to watch, and the form wants a ZIP code that someone living in Finland does not have. Never make up details to get through a form. Ruutu is the reverse case: there a login comes first, but the channels were chosen for Finnish viewers.

Ruutu’s column describes the section as Sanoma announced it in June 2023. We could not confirm on 6 or 7 October 2026 that the section, its channels or its login rule are unchanged.

Helsinki runs seven hours ahead of New York — most weeks

U.S. prime time lands at 3 a.m. in Finland

Pluto TV’s live channels follow a timetable; its on-demand library starts whenever you press play. So the clock matters for live channels only — above all for live news and sport, which happen on American time. Both countries move to summer time in 2026, but not on the same weekend.

1

Give on-demand titles your evenings

An on-demand title has no start time, so it fits a Finnish evening as well as an American one. Keep live channels for the hours when the U.S. is awake.

2

American mornings are Finnish afternoons

9 a.m. in New York is 4 p.m. in Helsinki, and noon there is 7 p.m. here. For a live U.S. channel at a civilised hour, that is the window.

3

Prime time arrives before dawn

8 p.m. Eastern is 3 a.m. in Finland, and 8 p.m. on the West Coast is 6 a.m. — breakfast time in Helsinki.

4

Mind the two short spells

The U.S. moves its clocks on 8 March and 1 November 2026, Finland on 29 March and 25 October. Between those dates the gap shrinks to six hours from New York and nine from Los Angeles.

5

Connect before Pluto TV opens

Start the USip connection first and open Pluto TV second. If a Pluto TV page was already open on your Finnish line, close it and begin again in a fresh window.

6

Keep one address all evening

Hopping between connections mid-session makes your location seem to jump from country to country. Pick one, stay on it until you finish, and switch only between sessions.

Our own arithmetic, from the IANA time-zone database (release 2026c) for Europe/Helsinki, America/New_York and America/Los_Angeles. Finland keeps Eastern European Time in winter and moves to summer time from 29 March to 25 October 2026.

Elisa, DNA, Telia — one answer for all three

What a Finnish connection looks like to Pluto TV

Every line you can buy in Finland hands your device a Finnish public address, and websites treat that address as their best guess at your location. Switching provider changes speed and hardware; it does not change that guess.

How you connectWho provides it (Traficom’s June 2024 figures, via S&P)What Pluto TV sees
A phone on 4G or 5GThree mobile networks: Elisa, with 38% of the mobile subscriber market, ahead of DNA and TeliaA Finnish address, on any of the three
Fibre, cable or copper broadband at homeDNA is first, Elisa second with 27% of fixed services, Telia third; smaller providers make the fixed market more fragmentedA Finnish address
A 4G or 5G router at homeOne of the same three mobile networksA Finnish address — the router does not change the country
Office, university or hotel Wi-FiWhoever runs the building’s networkUsually a Finnish address, on a network whose filters may block a connection like USip’s

The shares are Traficom’s, for June 2024, as S&P Global Ratings quoted them in its April 2025 report on Elisa; the fixed-broadband ranking is S&P’s reading of the same market. They are the newest operator figures we could read with a date attached. For Pluto TV they make no difference at all: a DNA fibre line in Espoo and an Elisa phone in Rovaniemi look the same from the U.S. — Finnish.

A failed check on office, campus or hotel Wi-Fi proves little. Repeat it once over mobile data on your phone before deciding anything; shared networks often filter traffic.

A country on a checker is only half the story

Four kinds of connection, and what Pluto TV makes of each

An address checker is easy to satisfy. Pluto TV is harder: it looks for VPNs and proxies and blocks the ones it finds. So the kind of address matters as much as the country printed next to it.

OptionWhat Pluto TV seesThe catchGood for
Your own Finnish lineAn address from Elisa, DNA, Telia or a smaller Finnish providerOutside the U.S. in every app and on every deviceRuutu, Yle Areena, MTV Katsomo
A free VPN appServer addresses that crowds of users shareExactly the traffic Pluto TV says it blocksNothing you would want to rely on
A commercial VPN on data-centre serversA hosting company’s block of addressesThe country fits, the type does not: no household lives in a data centrePrivacy on café and airport Wi-Fi
USip: one residential U.S. IPA home connection on an American internet providerOnly the network side changes, and Pluto TV keeps the right to refuseA single, unchanging U.S. address, so the result means something

What changes with a residential U.S. IP

  • The address Pluto TV reads: an American household connection where your Elisa, DNA or Telia address was
  • Steadiness: one address from the first channel to the last, with no hopping between servers
  • A readable answer: with no account in the way, a refusal can only be about the address

When a live channel and an on-demand title both run in a fresh private window, the address question is answered.

What stays exactly as it was

  • Pluto TV’s rule on VPNs and proxies, and its right to refuse any address, USip’s included
  • The country set on your Apple Account or Google account — and with it, your app store
  • The channels and titles Pluto TV offers on any given day
  • Finnish law, and the rules of any work or school network you use
  • Ruutu’s Pluto section, which is made for viewers in Finland — watch it on your normal Finnish connection

After a successful check, leave the network alone. Anything still wrong is about the app store, the device or the line-up.

Ten minutes, a laptop, no account

Checking Pluto TV from Finland in four steps

Pluto TV needs no account, so this check measures the address and nothing else — no profile, no password, no app store.

1

Bring the connection up and read an address checker

Use a Windows or Mac laptop; the Windows guide and the Mac guide cover the OpenVPN Connect setup. Connect, then open any IP address checker. The IPv4 result has to be a U.S. address. Some connections also carry IPv6, the newer address format; if a second, IPv6 result shows up, it must not name Elisa, DNA, Telia or another Finnish provider. If it does, your own line is still visible beside the U.S. one.

2

Open pluto.tv in a fresh private window

A private window opens without cookies, so nothing from an earlier visit on your Finnish line comes with you. Use Ctrl+Shift+N in Chrome or Edge, Ctrl+Shift+P in Firefox, Shift+Command+N in Safari. Switch the ad blocker off for this window and do not sign in: the check is cleanest with no account in it.

3

Play a live channel, then an on-demand title

Give each one a full minute. The live channel shows whether a stream starts at all; the on-demand title shows which catalogue you are being offered. Note what appears each time — a picture, or a message.

4

Read the result in Pluto TV’s words

Pictures on both mean Pluto TV accepted the address. The message asking you to disable VPN and proxy services means it took the connection for a VPN or proxy, and its help centre is plain that it blocks “any use of them”. Before another go, repeat step 1 and open a new private window: one more attempt, not ten.

If both play, the address side is done, and anything after that is about devices and app stores. If the VPN message appears, write it down exactly as shown — that one line is more useful than any number of retries.

USip’s test log has two Pluto TV entries, and neither was run from Finland. From Denmark on 17 September 2026 (Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Gen 4, Windows 11 25H2, OpenVPN Connect 3.7, Chrome 152), the Pluto TV Star Trek channel played for 15 minutes, with the U.S. catalogue shown. From Sweden on 7 September 2026 (Google Pixel 8, Android 16, OpenVPN Connect 3.6, Pluto TV app 5.48), CSI: Miami season 1, episode 1 (on demand) played for 12 minutes, again with the U.S. catalogue. They record those days and those countries — not what your line will do.

Laptop first, phone second, television last

Device by device: a laptop proves it, the rest follow

Settle the address on a laptop first, with the checker and the player side by side, then move to a phone, and leave the television for last. The four videos below were recorded in September 2022: the USip connection steps still apply, but Pluto TV’s screens — and Apple’s and Google’s country settings — have changed since.

Windows
Windows

A Windows laptop, in the browser

Pluto TV’s device page lists current web browsers, Edge, Chrome and Firefox among them, plus a desktop app for Windows 11. The video opens pluto.tv in a browser, and that is still the simplest route from Finland: no app store, no account, nothing between you and the result except the connection. Load the USip profile into OpenVPN Connect, switch it on, and confirm a U.S. address on a checker before opening Pluto TV.

A work laptop that runs your employer’s own VPN is the wrong machine for this: with two tunnels at once, no result means anything.

Step by step: the Windows setup guide.

macOS
macOS

A Mac, and two settings worth a look

On a Mac the route is the same: pluto.tv in Safari, Chrome or Firefox once the connection is up. Two settings can steer traffic around it. iCloud Private Relay, if you have it on, sends Safari’s requests through Apple’s own relays, so pause it for the check. And if your provider gives the Mac an IPv6 address, look at both results on the address checker, because browsers tend to prefer IPv6.

A quick way to spot either problem: if Chrome plays a channel while Safari shows the VPN message, start with Private Relay and IPv6.

Step by step: the Mac setup guide.

Android
Android

Android, and a Play Store step that has aged

The Android video changes the Play Store country to reach the Pluto TV app. For anyone in Finland that step is out of date: Google’s help page says that to set up a new country “you must be in that location”, and that afterwards “you must wait at least 90 days before you can change it”. We could not check whether Google Play shows Pluto TV to a Finnish account, so we make no claim either way.

What still holds is the order: laptop first, then phone. With the app installed, bring OpenVPN Connect up before Pluto TV opens, and keep Android’s battery saver away from OpenVPN Connect — when the system closes the connection, the result looks just like a refusal. USip’s one Android log entry comes from Sweden, a country where Pluto TV runs its own service — not from Finland.

Step by step: the Android setup guide.

iPhone and iPad
iPhone and iPad

iPhone and iPad, and the Apple Account country

Which App Store an iPhone opens depends on the country of its Apple Account, and on 6 October 2026 the Finnish one had no Pluto TV app. The video moves the account to another country. Before you copy that, read Apple’s own article on changing country: it asks you to spend any remaining Apple Account balance, end memberships that would block the move and check Family Sharing, and it warns: “Some types of content might not be available in your new country or region.”

In USip’s September 2022 recording, the app showed “Not in Service Area” until the U.S. connection was on. If you do end up with the app, connect first and open Pluto TV second, every time.

Step by step: the iOS setup guide.

Televisions, streaming sticks and consoles have no way to run OpenVPN Connect. For them USip uses Smart DNS: register your home’s public IP address with USip, then type the DNS details into the device’s network settings, or once into the router. If Elisa, DNA, Telia or whoever supplies your line later hands you a different public address, register the new one in its place. The Smart DNS guide has the steps.

Pluto TV’s list of devices for the United States only — Chromecast, PlayStation 4 and 5, Sony TVs, TiVo, Vizio and some U.S. cable boxes among them — matters only if you own one of those. For Samsung and LG sets, see the app-store section below. Leave the television until a laptop has played a channel.

No Pluto TV app in the Finnish App Store

App stores in Finland, and why the browser comes first

An app store follows the country on your account, not your network — the rule behind most of what people in Finland run into with Pluto TV.

App Store, Finland

Not listed on 6 October 2026

On that day the Pluto TV app appeared in the U.S., Swedish, Norwegian and Danish App Stores, among others, and not in the Finnish one. A U.S. address does not change which storefront an iPhone shows.

Apple’s rule

The storefront follows your Apple Account

Moving an Apple Account to another country is Apple’s process, on Apple’s conditions, and some content may not come with you. Decide it on its own, after the laptop check, never as part of it.

Google Play

Country changes need presence and patience

Google asks you to be in a country to make it your Play country, then to wait at least 90 days before changing again. We could not check Google Play country by country, so we cannot say what a Finnish account sees.

Smart TVs

Samsung and LG are on Pluto TV’s list

Pluto TV names Samsung (Tizen, 2017 or newer) and LG (webOS) among its platforms “available in your region”. Whether their Finnish TV stores carry it, we could not check — look on your own set first.

Ruutu

The Pluto section lives inside another app

Sanoma put the Finnish Pluto channels inside Ruutu, in its Kanavat section, rather than in an app of their own. That is why searching a Finnish store for Pluto TV tells you little about whether those channels exist.

The browser

pluto.tv needs no store at all

On a laptop there is nothing to install: the web player runs in a current browser. That is why every check on this page starts there, and why the phone and the television come later.

Local rules, stated carefully

Is a VPN allowed in Finland? Finnish law next to Pluto TV’s rule

A common question is whether VPN software is legal in Finland. We found no Finnish statute, regulator decision or government page on the point, so here is only what we can stand behind.

Finnish law

No ban on VPN software that we could find

We have not found a Finnish law that bans VPN software as such, and no Finnish authority that addresses using it for streaming. We are not lawyers. If the question matters for you — say, on an employer’s or university’s network, or under a contract — put it to a qualified adviser in Finland.

Pluto TV’s rule

Any VPN or proxy it detects is blocked

Pluto TV writes its rule down: “Since we can’t determine the exact purpose or use for a VPN or proxy, we need to block any use of them.” That applies to you in Finland exactly as anywhere else, whatever the law says. A residential U.S. IP is a different kind of address from a VPN server, but it is still a change of address, and Pluto TV can refuse it.

Two separate questions, then. Whether Finnish law allows the software is one; whether Pluto TV accepts the connection is the other, and only Pluto TV answers that. We cannot settle either for you with certainty, and we would rather say so than pretend. We could not read Pluto TV’s U.S. terms of use, so we do not quote or describe them; its help centre is what we quote, and that is the rule above.

What people in Finland ask, answered from the sources

Pluto TV in Finland — FAQ

Answered from Pluto TV’s, Paramount’s and Sanoma’s own pages, the app stores and Traficom’s figures. Where the honest answer is that we could not confirm something, we say so.

Is Pluto TV available in Finland?

Not as a service of its own. Pluto TV’s Nordic launch on 18 May 2022 covered Sweden, Denmark and Norway, and on 6 October 2026 the Finnish App Store did not list the Pluto TV app. The Pluto name reached Finland another way: in June 2023 Sanoma added a Pluto TV section with more than 35 channels to Ruutu. Those are Ruutu’s channels, chosen for Finland — not the U.S. Pluto TV service.

Are the Pluto TV channels in Ruutu still there?

We could not confirm it. Sanoma announced the section on 15 June 2023, reached from Ruutu’s Kanavat section and free with ad breaks after a Ruutu login. On 6 October 2026 the Ruutu app’s App Store description did not mention Pluto TV, and we found no later announcement adding to the section or ending it. Open Ruutu and look: that answers the question faster than any guide.

Is Ruutu’s Pluto section the same as Pluto TV in the U.S.?

No. Sanoma called it “a Pluto TV branded zone” with “over 35 new channels exclusive on Ruutu”, and its 2023 line-up mixed Paramount shows such as CSI: Miami and South Park with Finnish channels. The U.S. service is much bigger — its welcome page speaks of 250+ channels and thousands of on-demand titles — and it is built for American viewers. One needs a Ruutu login; the other needs no account at all.

Is Pluto TV free in Finland?

Both versions are free to watch, with adverts. Of Ruutu’s Pluto section, Sanoma’s 2023 announcement said: “All content can be viewed completely free of charge.” A Ruutu login is needed, though. The U.S. service sums itself up as “Drop in. It’s free.” and asks for no account. Being free does not make the U.S. service available everywhere: it is built for the United States, and it blocks any VPN or proxy it detects.

Do I need an account to watch Pluto TV?

Not for the U.S. service. Pluto TV’s welcome page presents signing up as a source of extras, such as a personalised experience and a kid-friendly space. The form asks for a name, a date of birth, a gender and a ZIP code, which is a U.S. postcode. Our advice: skip it, and never invent details to get through a form. Ruutu’s Pluto section is different: Sanoma says it needs a Ruutu login.

Why does Pluto TV ask me to disable my VPN?

Because it believes it has found one. Its help centre says the message appears when it detects “a VPN, proxy service, or other software” that may move your traffic outside your region, and explains: “Since we can’t determine the exact purpose or use for a VPN or proxy, we need to block any use of them.” A residential U.S. IP is an ordinary household address, not a server range, but Pluto TV can still refuse it.

Why isn’t Pluto TV in the Finnish App Store?

We do not know, and Pluto TV has not said. What we can report is the check itself: on 6 October 2026 the Pluto TV app was listed in the U.S., Swedish, Norwegian and Danish stores, among others, and not in the Finnish one. Paramount’s 2022 Nordic launch named Sweden, Denmark and Norway only. Pluto TV’s Finnish channels went into Ruutu instead, and Ruutu has its own app.

Is Paramount+ available in Finland?

Not as a separate service, as far as we could find. TechRadar’s Finnish edition reported in September 2022 that SkyShowtime would launch in Finland on 20 September 2022 and replace Paramount+. The same report listed programmes from Paramount Pictures, Showtime and Nickelodeon next to Sky and NBCUniversal, and titles such as Halo and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. SkyShowtime is not free — it needs a subscription — and we did not check its current catalogue.

Is MTV Katsomo connected to Paramount’s MTV?

No. MTV Katsomo is the app of MTV Oy, a Finnish broadcaster; the MTV music channel belongs to Paramount, and the two share nothing but letters. MTV Katsomo says that once you log in you can watch “monia ohjelmia maksutta” — many programmes free — while MTV Katsomo+ adds more entertainment and sport. Neither has anything to do with Pluto TV, which Sanoma describes as “a Paramount Company”.

Can I watch Pluto TV on my Samsung or LG TV in Finland?

Pluto TV lists Samsung (Tizen, 2017 or newer) and LG (webOS) among its platforms, but only for devices “available in your region”, and we could not check whether the Finnish Samsung or LG app stores carry it. A television cannot run OpenVPN Connect; USip connects TVs through Smart DNS, set on the TV or once on the router, after you register your home’s public IP address. Prove the connection on a laptop first.

What time is U.S. prime time in Finland?

Very late, or very early. For most of 2026, 8 p.m. Eastern is 3 a.m. in Helsinki, 11 p.m. Eastern is 6 a.m., and 8 p.m. Pacific is also 6 a.m. From 8 to 28 March and from 25 to 31 October 2026 everything arrives an hour earlier, because only one side has changed its clocks. U.S. daytime suits Finnish evenings better: noon in New York is 7 p.m. here.

Is it legal to use a VPN in Finland?

We know of no Finnish law that bans VPN software as such, and we found no Finnish authority that addresses using one for streaming. We are not lawyers; if the answer matters to you — on an employer’s or university’s network, or under a contract — ask a qualified adviser in Finland. Separately, Pluto TV’s own rule applies wherever you are: it blocks any VPN or proxy it detects.

Does USip include Pluto TV?

No. USip and Pluto TV are separate services. USip’s part is a single residential U.S. IP address that your connection runs through. Pluto TV is free with adverts and needs no account, and its channels, its rules and its decision to accept or refuse an address are its own. Nothing from Ruutu, SkyShowtime or any app store comes with USip either.

The Pluto TV hub, and the guides for seven other countries

The hub sets out Pluto TV’s rules and messages in full. Seven sibling guides apply them to Ireland, Singapore, the Netherlands, Australia, Israel, Qatar and Belgium. Australia is the closest match to Finland: Pluto-branded channels sit inside a local broadcaster’s app there too.

Look in Ruutu first, then try the U.S. service on a laptop

For anyone in Finland the order is simple. If the Pluto channels you want are the ones Ruutu announced in 2023 — CSI: Miami, Star Trek: The Next Generation, South Park — open Ruutu’s Kanavat section first. If the section is still there, it is the local route, at Finnish hours, with no change of address.

If it is the U.S. service you are after, a laptop, a private window and a couple of minutes of viewing will show whether Pluto TV accepts the address — well before app stores, Apple Accounts or televisions matter. Pluto TV may still say no; if it does, you will at least know why.

USip supplies the residential U.S. IP connection only. Pluto TV, Ruutu and SkyShowtime are separate services with their own rules, and Pluto TV can refuse any address.
