Starz’s own line
The Google Play listing for the STARZ app states: “STARZ online services are only accessible through participating partners in the U.S. and certain U.S. territories”. Everything else on this page works within that rule.
Short answer: there has been no Starz service in Italy since March 2023. Starz is American, and its Google Play listing puts it in one line: “STARZ online services are only accessible through participating partners in the U.S. and certain U.S. territories”. On 10 October 2026 the STARZ app was listed in the U.S. App Store and not in the Italian one. Starz’s own Italian service — STARZPLAY, renamed Lionsgate+ in September 2022 — closed on 31 March 2023, the day after Italian subscriptions were cancelled automatically.
Most of what people in Italy want from Starz is on Italian screens, legally, through other companies. Outlander’s eighth and final season came to Sky Serie and NOW on 14 March 2026, eight days after its U.S. premiere, and the prequel Outlander: Blood of My Blood is on Sky and NOW too, with season two due in January. Spartacus: House of Ashur went to MGM+, an add-on channel in Prime Video that was named in 2023 as the new home of Lionsgate+ titles such as Power Book II: Ghost. For P-Valley we could not confirm an Italian home.
If you already hold a Starz subscription — as an American living in Italy, say — begin with a ten-minute check on a laptop, not a new sign-up. Connect the USip residential U.S. IP, open starz.com in a private window, sign in and play one episode for a minute. A U.S. address changes where Starz sees you connecting from; it does not oblige Starz to accept you, and Starz can refuse any connection, USip’s included.

No Italian service is called Starz. The series reach Italy through Sky, NOW and MGM+, each under arrangements of its own. The table lists what we could source, with the date of each source, next to how Starz itself handles the same series in the U.S.
| Series | Where it is in Italy (checked 10 October 2026) | Compared with Starz in the U.S. |
|---|---|---|
| Outlander, the eighth and final season | Sky Serie and NOW from Saturday 14 March 2026, with one episode a week on NOW and the episodes on demand on Sky (Sky TG24, 3 March 2026; GreenMe, 6 March 2026). | Premiered on Starz on Friday 6 March 2026 (TV Insider), so Italy started eight days later. |
| Outlander, seasons one to seven | We could not confirm which Italian service carries all seven on 10 October 2026. The Italian reports on the final season that we read do not say. | A Starz original series; the final season is its eighth. |
| Outlander: Blood of My Blood | Season one: exclusive to Sky and streaming on NOW from 15 September 2025 (Cinefilos, 14 September 2025). Season two: in January on Sky and NOW, according to Sorrisi e Canzoni TV (11 September 2026). We could not confirm the day. | Season two has been on Starz since Friday 18 September 2026 (BroadwayWorld), so Italian viewers wait until the new year. |
| Spartacus: House of Ashur | MGM+ from Saturday 6 December 2025: two episodes to start, then a new one every Saturday (Sorrisi e Canzoni TV, 29 September 2025). | A Starz original in the U.S. In Italy it went to MGM+, while the original Spartacus had been shown by Sky. |
| Power, Power Book II: Ghost, Raising Kanan and Force | Former Lionsgate+ titles such as Power Book II: Ghost were due on the MGM channel in Prime Video from 8 April 2023 (Mondo Mobile Web, 31 March 2023), and in October 2023 Smartworld listed Power and Power Book IV: Force in MGM+’s Italian catalogue. TheWrap reported on 27 July 2026 that all four series are coming to Netflix internationally, in a non-exclusive deal with Lionsgate Television that begins in November 2026, so it has not started yet. The only places it names as excluded are the U.S. and Canada; we found no Italian date, and could not confirm which seasons are here now. | On Starz, Raising Kanan has reached its final season and Force has ended. TheWrap reports that Starz “will remain the home for the Power universe in America”; from November the original Power is due on Netflix there too, and the new spin-offs Power: Origins and Power: Legacy are not part of the deal. |
| BMF | In MGM+’s Italian catalogue in October 2023 (Smartworld). We could not confirm that it is still there. | Ended on Starz in 2025. |
| P-Valley | Part of the Italian Lionsgate+ catalogue in October 2022 (Money.it). We could not confirm an Italian home on 10 October 2026. | Its third and final season, nine episodes, is due to start on Starz with two episodes on Friday 4 December 2026 (TVLine, 10 September 2026). |
Two homes explain most of the table. The Outlander franchise sits with Sky, with NOW as the streaming route. Titles from the former Lionsgate+ library went to MGM+, an add-on channel in Amazon’s Prime Video that in 2023 was also offered through Mediaset Infinity (Smartworld, 21 October 2023). Neither MGM+ nor Sky is Starz, and each keeps its own Italian schedule. A Lionsgate+ add-on channel also appears in Prime Video: Lionsgate, a separate company, lists Italy for it in 2026, and we could not confirm which Starz series, if any, it carries.
The delay compared with the U.S. varies: eight days for Outlander’s last season, about four months for the second season of Blood of My Blood. If you can wait, the Italian services are the simple, legal route. Starz itself matters mainly to people who already hold a U.S. subscription, and to anyone after a title we could not place here.
Catalogues and channel names change. Every row above was checked on 10 October 2026 against the dated source named in it. Before you plan an evening around a series, open Sky’s, NOW’s or Prime Video’s own page for it.

For a few years Starz offered its own streaming service in Italy. These are the dates as the Italian and trade press reported them at the time, followed by what Lionsgate’s own page shows today.
| When | What happened | Reported by |
|---|---|---|
| August 2018 | Lionsgate said it had struck agreements to launch STARZPLAY as branded channels in Italy, France and Spain. | Digital TV Europe, 10 August 2018 |
| 4 November 2020 | Amazon opened Prime Video Channels in Italy, and STARZPLAY was among the first channels on offer. | Cinefilos, 4 November 2020 |
| 29 September 2022 | STARZPLAY became Lionsgate+ in 35 countries across Europe, Asia and Latin America. In Italy it was available through its own app and website and as a channel in Prime Video, Apple TV and Rakuten TV. | Money.it, 3 October 2022 |
| 3–4 November 2022 | Lionsgate announced it would stop offering Lionsgate+ in Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Nordics, the Benelux and Japan. | StreamTV Insider, 4 November 2022 |
| 9 February 2023 | Lionsgate said the restructuring would be complete by 31 March 2023. | Mondo Mobile Web, 31 March 2023 |
| 30 March 2023 | Italian subscriptions were cancelled automatically, and the Lionsgate+ channel in Mediaset Infinity closed the same day. | Mondo Mobile Web, 31 March 2023 |
| 31 March 2023 | Lionsgate+ was no longer available in Italy. | Mondo Mobile Web, 31 March 2023 |
| From 8 April 2023 | Lionsgate titles such as Power Book II: Ghost and The Great were due on the MGM channel in Prime Video. | Mondo Mobile Web, 31 March 2023 |
| 10 October 2026 | Lionsgate’s own page names Italy as one of 18 countries for Lionsgate+, now an add-on channel in Amazon Prime Video run by Lionsgate, which has been separate from Starz since 7 May 2025. | Lionsgate, read 10 October 2026 |
The message to Italian subscribers was short. In March 2023 the notice on the Italian site read: “Ci spiace informarti che stiamo interrompendo il servizio di streaming LIONSGATE+ in Italia.” Roughly: we are sorry to tell you that we are discontinuing the LIONSGATE+ streaming service in Italy. Each subscription, it added, would be cancelled automatically on 30 March 2023.
Starz’s own service closed in 2023 and no Italian Starz replaced it, so old advice about subscribing to STARZPLAY is out of date. The Lionsgate+ name has come back in a different form: in 2026 Lionsgate, a separate company from Starz since 7 May 2025, lists Italy for its Lionsgate+ add-on channel inside Amazon Prime Video. We could not confirm which Starz series, if any, that channel carries. Lionsgate’s page does not name Power, P-Valley, Outlander or Spartacus, and it warns: “The content availability may vary by location.” A separate regional service in the Middle East and North Africa traded as STARZPLAY in 2025; this guide does not cover it.

Starz is a U.S. pay TV network with a streaming service of its own. Knowing how it works at home makes it easier to judge from Italy.
The Google Play listing for the STARZ app states: “STARZ online services are only accessible through participating partners in the U.S. and certain U.S. territories”. Everything else on this page works within that rule.
Starz completed its split from Lionsgate and trades on Nasdaq as STRZ. It reported about 20 million subscribers in the U.S. and Canada at the end of 2024.
Americans subscribe in the STARZ app or on starz.com, get Starz as part of a TV provider package, or add it as a channel in Prime Video. Sign-ins from the Amazon channel do not work in the STARZ app (Starz Help).
Starz Help: “You can stream on up to 4 different devices at once.” Starting a fifth stream at the same moment brings up an error in the app.
Starz’s help centre says it offers a live stream on its website, and the Google Play listing mentions watching offline through downloads, which needs the app.
Starz’s help centre covers signing in on Apple TV, Android TV, Roku, Samsung TV and Xbox, and the STARZ app also runs on Amazon Fire TV and Kindle devices.
Seen from Italy, the point is simple: there is no Italian Starz to join, and its app and website are made for customers in the U.S. A residential U.S. IP matters only for that U.S. service, which in practice means people who already hold a Starz subscription there.

In the U.S., new episodes usually arrive in the STARZ app at midnight Eastern Time on the release day (Parade, on Outlander’s final season). Some series air first on the Starz channel in the evening and reach the app the next day (TechRadar, on Spartacus: House of Ashur). Italy is normally six hours ahead of New York.
| Period | Midnight Eastern on a Friday is, in Rome | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Until Saturday 24 October 2026 | Friday 06:00 | Both countries on summer time |
| 25 to 31 October 2026 | Friday 05:00 | Italy goes back to winter time on Sunday 25 October, a week before the U.S. |
| 1 November 2026 to 13 March 2027 | Friday 06:00 | The U.S. returns to standard time on Sunday 1 November |
| 14 to 27 March 2027 | Friday 05:00 | The U.S. puts its clocks forward on Sunday 14 March; Italy waits until Sunday 28 March |
| From 28 March 2027 | Friday 06:00 | Both countries on summer time again |
We worked these times out from the official time-zone rules for New York and Rome. For most of the year a midnight release in New York is a breakfast-time release in Rome, not a late-night one. A programme on the Starz channel at 9 p.m. Eastern, on the other hand, is on at 03:00 the next morning in Rome, or 02:00 in the five-hour weeks.
All of this applies to Starz itself. Sky, NOW and MGM+ keep their own Italian schedules: Outlander’s final season began here on a Saturday, eight days after Starz, and the Italian episodes of House of Ashur came out on Saturdays too.
Every Italian line comes with an Italian address, and any website can look up the network behind it. These are the market figures in AGCOM’s Osservatorio sulle comunicazioni n. 2/2026, for the end of March 2026: the newest edition we found on 10 October 2026, as reported by Mondo Mobile Web on 31 July 2026.
TIM held 32.6%, Fastweb and Vodafone, counted together, 28.7% and WindTre 14.7%. Sky Wifi had 4.7%, Eolo 3.6%, Iliad 2.8% and Tiscali 2.6%; smaller operators shared the remaining 10.5%.
Some 7.39 million of roughly 20.45 million fixed lines were fibre to the home at the end of March 2026.
Machine-to-machine SIMs are left out; with them the total was 111.3 million. Fastweb and Vodafone had 25.2%, WindTre 23.6%, TIM 22.3%, Iliad 16.1%, PosteMobile 5.6% and CoopVoce 3%.
An address lookup returns the country and the network’s name, whether that is TIM, Fastweb, WindTre, Iliad or a smaller company. For a service limited to the U.S., that alone places you outside it.
One technical detail matters more than your provider’s name: IPv6. If your line has an IPv6 address as well as the usual IPv4 one, and the USip connection carries only the IPv4 traffic, your browser can still reach some websites over IPv6 directly from your Italian line. Those websites then see your Italian provider, not a U.S. address. That is why the first step of the check below asks you to read both results of an address checker.
Mobile data works the same way: an Italian SIM gives your phone an Italian address. Connect USip on the phone first and only then open anything from Starz, never the other way round.
What Starz is likely to see in each case, in plain words. None of it is a promise: Starz decides which connections it accepts.
| Connection | What Starz is likely to see | What that means |
|---|---|---|
| Your Italian line: TIM, Fastweb, Vodafone, WindTre, Iliad or another | An Italian address on an Italian network. | Starz is likely to treat you as outside the U.S., whatever account you hold. |
| A free VPN app | Usually an address in a data centre, shared by many users at the same moment. | Shared hosting addresses are easy for a streaming service to recognise, and it can turn them away. |
| A commercial VPN with data-centre servers | An address from a hosting company’s range, in whichever country you set. | Address databases mark such ranges as data centres, and a service that licenses programmes by country can refuse them. |
| USip residential U.S. IP | One consumer address on a U.S. internet provider, assigned by USip. | An ordinary U.S. home address. Starz can still refuse it, and USip cannot overrule Starz. |
A single U.S. home address for one connection: nothing more is on offer.
When Starz turns an address away, the decision is Starz’s, and we say so plainly.

Run it once, on a laptop, before committing to anything. It answers the only question USip can help with: does Starz accept the address you have been given?
Start OpenVPN Connect with your USip profile. Once it shows that you are connected, open any IP address checker. The IPv4 result should be in the U.S. Look for an IPv6 result as well: if it names TIM, Fastweb, Vodafone, WindTre, Iliad or another Italian company, deal with that first, and USip support can help.
A private window starts without the cookies stored during earlier visits from your Italian address, so nothing from those visits is carried over.
With a Starz subscription you already have, sign in where you took it out: starz.com for a direct account, the Prime Video app for the Amazon channel. Let one episode run for a full minute. Without a subscription, only check that starz.com opens its U.S. home page, and do not sign up just for this.
An episode that keeps playing settles the connection side for now. If Starz shows an error or a message about your location instead, copy its wording exactly, reconnect once and try one more time. If the same message returns, send that wording to USip support; ten more attempts will not change the answer.
USip keeps its own dated record of checks on a separate page, USip’s published checks. This guide does not summarise it. A result on one date says nothing certain about the next, because Starz can change what it accepts at any time.

USip recorded the four videos below in September 2021. Their USip connection steps still apply. The Starz screens in them date from 2021, the phone videos switch the App Store or Google Play country, and all four show an old Starz sign-up. Those parts are out of date, so leave them out.

The connection part of the video still holds: install OpenVPN Connect, import your USip profile and connect. Then follow the four steps above in your usual browser, and skip the video’s Starz sign-up section, which shows 2021 pages and advice we no longer give.
Step by step: the Windows setup guide.

The video’s steps for OpenVPN Connect and your USip profile have not changed, and Starz then runs in Safari or Chrome. Treat the 2021 Starz screens as an illustration only, and ignore the sign-up steps.
Step by step: the Mac setup guide.

OpenVPN Connect and your USip profile work as the video shows. Its Google Play country switch is another matter. Google Play Help puts two conditions on a change: “To set up a new country or region, you must be in that location”, and you then “must wait at least 90 days” before changing again. Start on a laptop instead.
Step by step: the Android setup guide.

OpenVPN Connect and your USip profile behave as the video shows. On 10 October 2026 the STARZ app was in the U.S. App Store only, not in the Italian one, so the video’s App Store country change is out of date; leave it out. Apple’s support page sets out its own conditions for moving an Apple Account to another country or region.
Step by step: the iOS setup guide.
A television, a streaming stick or a games console cannot run OpenVPN Connect. For those, USip offers Smart DNS: tell USip the public IP address of your home connection, then type the DNS details into the device’s network settings, or into the router once so that everything behind it uses them. Should your provider give your home a new public address, register that one instead. The Smart DNS guide has the details.
Starz’s help centre covers signing in on Apple TV, Android TV, Roku, Samsung TV and Xbox, and the STARZ app also runs on Amazon Fire TV. A television bought in Italy uses Italian app stores, though, and we have not checked whether they list the STARZ app.

One residential U.S. IP — an ordinary consumer address on a U.S. ISP, not a server range. USip and Starz are separate services: the plans include the connection only — not a Starz subscription, an app-store region or the rights to any series or film.
Separate services: these prices are for the USip residential U.S. IP service only. Starz is a separate service; a Starz subscription and access to any particular series or film are not part of a USip plan.
On 10 October 2026 the STARZ app from Starz Entertainment was listed in Apple’s U.S. App Store and not in the Italian one. That is the reason this guide begins in a browser, which needs nothing from any store.
Apple runs its App Store country by country, and an Apple Account set to Italy sees the Italian store, where the STARZ app was missing on the day we looked. Apple’s support page sets out the conditions for moving an account to another country or region; read them there.
Google Play Help says a new country can only be set up while you are in it, followed by a wait of at least 90 days before the next change. We did not look up the STARZ app in the Italian Play Store or in the app stores on Italian televisions.
The 2021 videos switch store countries. We no longer show that, and we do not suggest invented addresses, borrowed U.S. ZIP codes, store vouchers or unofficial app stores.
We are not lawyers, and nothing here is legal advice. This is what official Italian sources say, and where they stop.
We have not found an Italian law that bans VPN software as such. Italy’s national cybersecurity agency, the Agenzia per la cybersicurezza nazionale (ACN), treats VPNs as a safety measure: in nine tips it published on 7 February 2023, it tells people to avoid unsecured public Wi-Fi and, where they can, to use a reliable VPN.
What Italy polices is piracy. Under Law 93 of 14 July 2023, the communications regulator AGCOM runs a platform called Piracy Shield. Rights holders report pirate sources through it, and Italian internet providers then have 30 minutes to block them. The first blocks, from Friday 2 February 2024, hit domain names and IP addresses spreading pirated league football matches (AGCOM press release, 5 February 2024). AGCOM’s own page says use of the platform has since been extended to all audiovisual content broadcast live.
The same AGCOM page lists VPN providers, and providers of public DNS services, wherever they are based, among the parties its measures can be addressed to, and it states that its rules contain no orders aimed at end users. The 2023 law does provide sanctions for people who download pirated content, AGCOM noted in 2024. All of this concerns pirate streams. Nothing we found in AGCOM’s pages is aimed at a licensed U.S. service that you subscribe to.
Sky, NOW and MGM+ show Starz series in Italy under Italian arrangements. Watching there is the straightforward choice, with no question about where you are.
Whether Starz accepts a connection from Italy is Starz’s decision alone. We do not interpret it for you, and a U.S. address does not change where you actually live.
Laws, and the way they are applied, change. For advice on your own situation, ask a lawyer or an Italian consumer association.
Short answers that stand on their own, checked on 10 October 2026.
Not as a service you can join from an Italian address. Starz’s Google Play listing says: “STARZ online services are only accessible through participating partners in the U.S. and certain U.S. territories”. On 10 October 2026 the STARZ app was not in the Italian App Store. Starz’s own Italian service, STARZPLAY (renamed Lionsgate+ in 2022), closed on 31 March 2023. The Lionsgate+ add-on that Lionsgate lists for Italy in Prime Video in 2026 is a separate company’s channel, not Starz. Outlander is on Sky and NOW; Spartacus: House of Ashur is on MGM+.
STARZPLAY, Starz’s own service abroad, was among the first channels in Prime Video Channels when that opened in Italy on 4 November 2020. It was renamed Lionsgate+ on 29 September 2022, and after Lionsgate announced its exit, Italian subscriptions were cancelled automatically on 30 March 2023; the service ended on 31 March 2023. Titles such as Power Book II: Ghost were due on the MGM channel in Prime Video from 8 April 2023. In 2026 Lionsgate, a separate company, lists Italy for its own Lionsgate+ add-on in Prime Video.
The eighth and final season has been on Sky Serie and NOW since Saturday 14 March 2026, eight days after its U.S. premiere on Starz, with one episode a week on NOW (Sky TG24; GreenMe). We could not confirm which service carries seasons one to seven on 10 October 2026. The prequel, Outlander: Blood of My Blood, is on Sky and NOW as well.
In January, on Sky and streaming on NOW, according to Sorrisi e Canzoni TV on 11 September 2026; we could not confirm the exact day. In the U.S. the season has been on Starz since Friday 18 September 2026. Season one came to Sky and NOW on 15 September 2025.
When Lionsgate+ closed, titles such as Power Book II: Ghost were due on the MGM channel in Prime Video from 8 April 2023 (Mondo Mobile Web), and in October 2023 Smartworld listed Power and Power Book IV: Force in MGM+’s Italian catalogue. TheWrap reported on 27 July 2026 that Power, Ghost, Raising Kanan and Force are coming to Netflix internationally in a deal that begins in November 2026, so it has not started yet. The only places it names as excluded are the U.S. and Canada; we found no Italian date. We could not confirm which seasons are available in Italy today.
On MGM+. Sorrisi e Canzoni TV reported on 29 September 2025 that it would start in Italy on Saturday 6 December 2025 with two episodes, then add a new one every Saturday. MGM+ is an add-on channel in Prime Video and has nothing to do with a Starz account. Sky showed the original Spartacus in Italy; the new series went to MGM+.
No. On 10 October 2026 the STARZ app from Starz Entertainment was listed in Apple’s U.S. App Store and not in the Italian one. Apple sets its own conditions for moving an Apple Account to another country, explained on its support page. We did not check Google Play country by country. A laptop browser needs no app, which is why this guide starts there.
Possibly, and a short check is the honest way to find out. With USip connected on a laptop, make sure an address checker’s IPv6 result does not name your Italian provider, open starz.com in a private window, sign in to the Starz subscription you already have and play one episode for a minute. If a message appears instead, note its exact words, reconnect once, try once more, then contact USip support.
No. USip and Starz are separate services. A USip plan gives you one residential U.S. IP connection, not a Starz subscription, an app-store region or the rights to any series. Whether Starz accepts the connection is Starz’s decision; USip’s part is the address and help with setting it up. USip lists its own dated checks on a separate page, USip’s published checks.
Starz’s help centre says: “You can stream on up to 4 different devices at once.” A fifth stream at the same moment brings up an error in the app. That limit comes with your Starz account, not with USip. On the USip side, a plan includes one connection at a time, so decide which device you will use for Starz before you start.
Possibly, but two questions are separate. The connection: TVs, sticks and consoles cannot run OpenVPN Connect, so USip uses Smart DNS, which means registering your home’s public IP address with USip and entering the DNS details on the device or once on the router. The app: Starz names Apple TV, Android TV, Roku, Samsung TV and Xbox, but a TV bought in Italy uses Italian app stores, which we have not checked.
Usually at midnight Eastern Time on the U.S. release day, sometimes a day later. On a Friday that is 06:00 in Rome for most of the year, but 05:00 from 25 to 31 October 2026 and from 14 to 27 March 2027, when the two countries change their clocks on different Sundays. Sky, NOW and MGM+ keep their own Italian schedules.
We have not found an Italian law that bans VPN software as such, and Italy’s cybersecurity agency, ACN, advises using a reliable VPN on public Wi-Fi. AGCOM’s Piracy Shield rules target pirate streams: VPN and public DNS providers can be asked to help block them, and the rules contain no orders aimed at end users. We are not lawyers, and this is not legal advice.
Yes. MGM+ is a different channel, offered in Italy as an add-on in Prime Video and, in 2023, through Mediaset Infinity too; it was named as the new home of Lionsgate+ titles in 2023 and shows Spartacus: House of Ashur here. Lionsgate+, which Lionsgate lists for Italy in 2026 as an add-on channel in Prime Video, belongs to Lionsgate, a company separate from Starz since 7 May 2025. Neither channel is Starz.

The hub covers Starz from anywhere outside the U.S. Each country guide checks its own local rights, time zone and rules, and Italy’s story, with Sky, NOW and MGM+, is not the same as the others.
The main pages behind this guide, first-party first, each read on 10 October 2026; dates in the labels are publication dates. Other sources are named, with their dates, where they are used.
In Italy most Starz series have a legal home that raises no question about where you are: Outlander and its prequel on Sky and NOW, Spartacus: House of Ashur and titles from the former Lionsgate+ library on MGM+. Start there, and expect Italian dates to trail the U.S. by days or months.
Starz itself is a U.S. service, and its own listing says so. If you already hold a Starz subscription, run the ten-minute check once, on a laptop, and keep the exact wording of any message Starz shows; it is the most useful thing you can send USip support. If Starz refuses the connection, that is its decision to make.
USip supplies the residential U.S. IP connection only. Starz’s service, and its decisions about which connections to accept, are Starz’s; the Italian rights belong to the Italian services named on this page.
