How to Watch Starz in Spain

Short answer: not as a Spanish service. Starz is a U.S. service, and its own Google Play listing says so in one line: “STARZ online services are only accessible through participating partners in the U.S. and certain U.S. territories”. On 10 October 2026 the STARZ app was not in the Spanish App Store. Starz did once have a service here — STARZPLAY, renamed Lionsgate+ in 2022 — but it stopped on 30 March 2023, according to the Spanish comparison site Rastreator. Today’s Lionsgate+ channel in Prime Video, which Lionsgate lists for Spain, belongs to Lionsgate, not Starz. A residential U.S. IP changes the address Starz sees; it does not oblige Starz to accept it.

Much of what people in Spain look for from Starz is already on Spanish screens, legally. Movistar Plus+ says it is the only platform in Spain with every episode of Outlander, the final season included, and it also has the prequel, Outlander: Blood of My Blood, whose second season started there on Saturday 19 September 2026. Spartacus: House of Ashur was on Amazon’s MGM+ channel in Spain in December 2025. For the Power series, P-Valley and BMF we could not confirm a Spanish home in October 2026, though TheWrap reports that four Power series are due on Netflix internationally from November, with only the U.S. and Canada named as excluded.

If you still want Starz itself — the U.S. app, the U.S. catalogue, the U.S. release day — begin with a ten-minute check on a laptop rather than a new sign-up. Connect the USip residential U.S. IP, open starz.com in a private browser window and play one episode from a Starz subscription you already have. One episode that keeps going for a minute, or the precise wording of a message, will tell you more than any review.

Before anything else: what Spain already shows

Where Outlander, Power and the other Starz series are in Spain

In the U.S. these are Starz series, but abroad each one is licensed separately, country by country, and often by the studio that makes it rather than by Starz. The table sets the Spanish home of each series, from the services’ own notes and dated reports read on 10 October 2026, against Starz’s own schedule.

TheWrap reported on 27 July 2026 that Power, Ghost, Raising Kanan and Force are coming to Netflix internationally under a non-exclusive deal starting in November. The only countries it names as excluded are the U.S. and Canada, so Spain is not among them; the four series are not on Netflix yet, and we found no Spanish date.Raising Kanan’s fifth season is its last, and Force has ended. TheWrap says Starz remains the U.S. home of the Power universe, the original Power will also be on Netflix there from November, and the coming Power: Origins and Power: Legacy are outside the deal.

The pattern is easy to follow once you see it. Outlander is a Sony Pictures Television production, and in Spain it is shown by Movistar Plus+, which describes itself as the home of the series. The series that Lionsgate+ used to carry here — the Power series among them — moved to Amazon’s MGM+ International channel in 2023. Neither home is Starz, and neither gives you Starz’s U.S. app.

So for most people in Spain, Movistar Plus+ or Prime Video comes first. A residential U.S. IP is for Starz’s own U.S. service, and it comes with no promise that Starz will accept it.

Catalogues change, and Spanish licensing deals rarely make the news. Everything in this table was checked on 10 October 2026; before you decide anything, look the series up on Movistar Plus+ or in the Prime Video app.

STARZPLAY and Lionsgate+ in Spain, 2019–2026

What happened to STARZPLAY and Lionsgate+ in Spain

Starz did run a service of its own in Spain for a few years. Here is its short history and what has become of the name, from Spanish trade press, Lionsgate’s own page and the other reports we could find, with each date as it was published.

10 October 2026Lionsgate’s own page names Spain among the 18 countries where Lionsgate+ is available, as an add-on channel inside Amazon Prime Video.Lionsgate, read 10 October 2026

Before it closed, Lionsgate+ was available on its own and through Amazon, Rakuten TV and phone companies such as Vodafone, Orange and Yoigo (Rastreator). What its subscribers were told is thinly documented. Rastreator says the service cancelled every subscription when it stopped. Amazon’s customers were given MGM+ International in the Prime Video app instead, because their old Lionsgate+ channel was folded into it (AVPasión; Variety). We could not find the message Lionsgate sent to Spanish subscribers, so we do not quote one.

The name has since returned in a different form, as the last row of the table shows. That Lionsgate+ channel is Lionsgate’s: Lionsgate and Starz have been separate companies since 7 May 2025, so it is not a Starz service. Lionsgate adds a caution of its own: “The content availability may vary by location.” We could not confirm which Starz series, if any, it carries in Spain.

Outlander is missing from the Spanish STARZPLAY line-up we found (Señal News, November 2020). In Spain it has been a Movistar Plus+ series instead: the operator’s own notes cover the later seasons one by one, then the final season in 2026, and they name Sony Pictures Television as the producer.

If the STARZPLAY name turns up in your searches, note that in 2025 it belonged to a separate service in the Middle East and North Africa, which has nothing to do with Spain.

Starz in October 2026

What Starz is now: a U.S. service on its own since May 2025

Starz no longer belongs to Lionsgate, and its own streaming service is now for the U.S. only. Six facts from Starz’s own pages describe what is left.

U.S. only

Partners in the U.S. and its territories

Starz’s Google Play listing limits its online services to participating partners in the U.S. and certain U.S. territories. There is no Spanish version, and no European one since 2024.

Since 7 May 2025

Independent of Lionsgate

Starz completed its separation from Lionsgate on 7 May 2025 and trades on Nasdaq as STRZ. It reported about 20 million subscribers in the U.S. and Canada at the end of 2024.

Direct

The STARZ app and starz.com

In the U.S., viewers without a TV package can create an account in the app and start watching; people who get Starz through a U.S. TV provider sign in with that provider (Google Play listing).

Through Amazon

Prime Video Channels

Starz is also an add-on channel in Prime Video. Those subscribers watch in the Prime Video app, and Starz’s help centre says their Amazon sign-in does not work in the STARZ app.

Four screens

Up to four streams at once

Starz Help: “You can stream on up to 4 different devices at once.” Starz also limits how many devices one account can register, and asks you to remove one when you reach that limit.

Downloads and live

Offline viewing and a live stream

The app offers offline viewing through downloads, according to its Google Play listing, and Starz’s help centre says Starz provides a live stream on its website.

For someone in Spain, Starz therefore comes in two forms: the U.S. service, which is what a residential U.S. IP is about, and the Starz series licensed to Spanish services — Outlander on Movistar Plus+, above all — which need nothing from USip.

Madrid and Canary Islands time

When new Starz episodes appear in Spain

In the U.S., new Starz episodes usually reach the STARZ app at midnight Eastern Time on the release day, sometimes the next day. Madrid is six hours ahead of New York for most of the year and the Canary Islands five, but the two countries change their clocks on different Sundays, so twice a year the gap shrinks by an hour. These times come from the official time-zone rules.

From 28 March 2027Friday 06:00Friday 05:00

Outlander shows how it works. Parade reported that the final season reached the STARZ app at midnight ET on Friday 6 March 2026, which was 06:00 that Friday in Madrid. Some series reach the app a day later instead, after an evening premiere on the Starz channel; TechRadar described this for Spartacus: House of Ashur on 2 January 2026. Madrid time also applies in the Balearic Islands, Ceuta and Melilla.

1

Friday, early morning

For most of the year a midnight release in New York lands at 06:00 on Friday in Madrid — before breakfast rather than late on Thursday night.

2

An hour earlier in the Canaries

Las Palmas and Santa Cruz de Tenerife run one hour behind Madrid all year, so every time in the table is an hour earlier there.

3

Mark 25 to 31 October 2026

Spain turns its clocks back on 25 October and the U.S. on 1 November. In between, U.S. releases arrive an hour earlier: 05:00 in Madrid, 04:00 in the Canaries.

4

And 14 to 27 March 2027

In spring the U.S. moves first, on 14 March, and Spain follows on 28 March. For those two weeks the gap is an hour smaller again.

5

Sometimes a day later

If an episode is not in the app at 06:00 on Friday, look again on Saturday morning before you suspect the connection: some series reach the app the day after their channel premiere.

6

Movistar Plus+ keeps Saturdays

Movistar Plus+ started Outlander’s final season and the prequel’s second season on Saturdays, hours after the U.S. — with no U.S. address involved.

Your Spanish connection

Movistar, Vodafone, MasOrange or Digi: what Starz sees from a Spanish line

Whoever runs your fibre or your mobile, the address it gives you is Spanish, and any website can look that up. The figures below are the CNMC’s, Spain’s national markets and competition regulator, from its monthly telecoms data for July 2026, published on 23 September 2026.

Fixed broadband, July 2026

More than 20 million lines

For the first time, Spain had more than 20 million fixed broadband lines in July 2026. Fibre to the home made up 18.3 million of them.

Who runs them

Four groups, 94.4% of fixed lines

Movistar, Vodafone and MasOrange held 79.8% of fixed broadband lines between them. With Digi added, the share rose to 94.4%.

Mobile, July 2026

63.61 million lines

Movistar, Vodafone and MasOrange had 85.4% of mobile lines, and 98.2% with Digi included. Smaller brands share what is left.

What Starz sees

A Spanish address, and whose it is

An address lookup shows the country and the name of the network. To Starz, every Spanish line, fibre or mobile, is a connection from outside the U.S. — which is exactly what it is.

More important than your provider’s name is whether your line also has an IPv6 address. If it does, and the USip connection carries only your IPv4 traffic, the browser can still reach a website over IPv6, straight from your Spanish line. The website then sees your Spanish provider instead of a U.S. address. That is why the first step of the check below asks you to read both lines of an address checker, not only the first.

On a phone the same applies to mobile data: with Movistar, Vodafone, Orange, Yoigo, Digi or a smaller brand, the address is Spanish. Connect USip on the phone first and only then open anything from Starz.

Four ways to reach starz.com from Spain

From a Spanish line, a VPN app or a residential U.S. IP: what Starz is likely to see

In plain terms, this is what Starz is likely to see in each case. None of it is a promise: Starz decides which connections it accepts, and it can refuse any of them.

ConnectionWhat Starz is likely to seeWhat that means for you
Your Spanish line (Movistar, Vodafone, Orange, Digi or another provider)A Spanish address on a Spanish network. The U.S.-only rule applies, whatever Starz account you hold.
A free VPN appUsually a data-centre address shared by many people at the same moment.Easy for any service to spot. INCIBE, Spain’s national cybersecurity institute, warns that many free VPNs make their money by collecting and selling their users’ data.
A commercial VPN with data-centre serversAn address from a hosting company’s range, in whatever country you set.Lookup databases list those ranges as hosting, and a streaming service licensed country by country may refuse them.
USip residential U.S. IPOne U.S. consumer address on a U.S. internet provider, assigned by USip.It looks like an ordinary U.S. household. Starz can still refuse it, and USip cannot overrule that.

What the residential U.S. IP does

  • Gives Starz a U.S. consumer address in place of your Spanish one
  • Runs in the OpenVPN Connect app with your USip profile on Windows, macOS, Android, iPhone and iPad
  • Reaches TVs, sticks and consoles through Smart DNS, set on the device or once on the router
  • Lets you check starz.com in a browser before you commit to anything else

One U.S. address and one connection at a time — nothing more is included.

What it does not do

  • Let you pick a U.S. city, state or server — USip assigns the address, not you
  • Make Starz accept the connection; Starz can refuse any connection, USip’s included
  • Include a Starz subscription, or change what Starz shows or refuses
  • Put the STARZ app into the Spanish App Store

If Starz says no, that is Starz’s decision, and we will not dress it up as anything else.

Ten minutes, one laptop, nothing new to sign up for

The ten-minute check from Spain

Do this once, on a laptop, before you change anything else. It answers the one question USip can help with: does Starz accept the address you have been given?

1

Connect USip and look at two lines

Open OpenVPN Connect, start your USip profile, then visit any IP address checker. The IPv4 result must be in the U.S. If the checker also shows an IPv6 address, that one must not belong to Movistar, Vodafone, Orange, Digi or another Spanish network; if it does, ask USip support to help you fix it before going further.

2

Open starz.com in a new private window

A private window carries no cookies from earlier visits made from your Spanish address. Type starz.com yourself rather than following an old bookmark, and see which home page loads.

3

Sign in where you subscribed, then play one episode

With a Starz subscription you already have, sign in where you took it out: starz.com for a direct account, the Prime Video app for the Amazon channel. Play one episode for a full minute. Without a subscription, stop here and only note whether starz.com opens its U.S. home page.

4

Read the result and keep the wording

An episode that keeps playing means the connection part is done. If you see an error or a message about your location, copy it down word for word, reconnect once and try one more time. If it comes back, send that exact wording to USip support — ten more attempts will not change it.

For the record, USip keeps its own dated results on a separate page, USip’s published checks, and this guide does not repeat them. Whatever a check shows, it shows for that day only: Starz can change which connections it accepts whenever it chooses.

Computer first, phone second, television last

Watching from Spain: Windows, Mac, Android phone or iPhone

USip recorded the four videos below in September 2021. The USip connection steps in them still apply. The Starz screens are from 2021, the phone videos switch the App Store or Google Play country, and all four show an old sign-up — leave those parts out.

Windows
Windows

Windows: OpenVPN Connect, then a browser

Install OpenVPN Connect, import your USip profile and connect; the video still shows that part correctly. Then run the four-step check above in your usual browser. Starz’s pages in the video date from 2021 and its sign-up section is out of date, so skip it.

Step by step: the Windows setup guide.

macOS
macOS

macOS: the same app, then Safari or Chrome

On a Mac the connection steps in the video are unchanged: OpenVPN Connect, your USip profile, connect. Starz then opens in the browser. Treat the 2021 Starz screens as background only, and ignore the sign-up part, which no longer matches the site.

Step by step: the Mac setup guide.

Android
Android

Android: keep the connection steps, drop the store switch

The video’s OpenVPN Connect and USip profile steps still apply. Its Google Play country change does not: Google’s help page says “To set up a new country or region, you must be in that location”, and that between changes you “must wait at least 90 days”. Run the first check on a computer instead.

Step by step: the Android setup guide.

iPhone and iPad
iPhone and iPad

iPhone and iPad: Apple runs the store

Connect exactly as the video shows: OpenVPN Connect, your profile, connect. On 10 October 2026 the STARZ app was listed in the U.S. App Store but not in the Spanish one. The video’s App Store country change is out of date, so leave it out; moving an Apple Account to another country or region is governed by Apple’s own conditions on its support pages.

Step by step: the iOS setup guide.

TVs, streaming sticks and consoles cannot run OpenVPN Connect, so USip connects them with Smart DNS instead. You register your home’s public IP address with USip, then type the DNS details into the device’s network settings — or once into the router, for everything behind it. If your provider changes that public address, register the new one. The Smart DNS guide walks through it.

Starz names Apple TV, Android TV, Roku, Samsung TV and Xbox among the devices its app runs on, plus Amazon’s Fire TV and Kindle devices. Smart TVs sold in Spain come with Spanish app stores, though, and we have not looked up whether those stores carry the STARZ app.

And because the videos date from September 2021, rely on their USip connection steps only.

App Store, Google Play and TV stores in Spain

Why the STARZ app is missing from Spanish phones

On 10 October 2026 the STARZ app was listed in the U.S. App Store and not in the Spanish one. That is the main reason this guide starts in a browser.

App Store

In the U.S. store, not the Spanish one

Apple runs a separate App Store for each country. An Apple Account set to Spain sees the Spanish store, and the STARZ app was not in it when we looked.

Apple Account

Apple sets the conditions

Moving an Apple Account to another country or region comes with conditions Apple lists on its own support page. Read them there; we do not offer a way round them.

Google Play

You have to be there

Google lets you set up a new Play country only when you are in that country, and then not again for at least 90 days. We did not look up the STARZ app in the Spanish Play Store, so we make no claim either way.

Spanish smart TVs

Another store again

Samsung and other televisions bought in Spain use their own app stores. Smart DNS alters the route your TV’s traffic takes, not the shop it downloads from, and we have not checked those stores.

The browser

Why it comes first

A laptop browser needs nothing from any store. If an episode plays there, you know the connection side is fine before a store question even arises.

What we do not suggest

No invented addresses, no side-loading

The 2021 videos switch store countries; we no longer show that. We do not recommend made-up addresses, borrowed U.S. postcodes or unofficial app stores.

Spanish rules, as far as official sources go

Is a residential U.S. IP legal in Spain?

We are not lawyers, and nothing here is legal advice. This is what official Spanish sources and the court reports we found say — and where they stop.

We have not found a Spanish law that bans VPN software as such. INCIBE, Spain’s National Cybersecurity Institute, treats VPNs as an everyday security tool: its guide of 22 October 2025 describes a VPN as a tool that creates a secure, encrypted connection between your device and a remote server, and recommends one on public Wi-Fi. It also warns that many free VPNs live off collecting and selling their users’ data, and advises reading a provider’s privacy policy before trusting it. These are recommendations, not legal rules, and good ones.

Spain does have court-ordered blocking, and it is aimed at piracy. A 2025 court ruling lets LaLiga ask Spanish operators to block IP addresses used for unauthorised streams of its matches, and the blocks have also hit websites that have nothing to do with football. In February 2026 a commercial court in Córdoba ordered two VPN providers, NordVPN and ProtonVPN, to block certain addresses too. On 19 May 2026 the same court refused LaLiga’s request to fine NordVPN, citing a genuine technical dispute, and the main case was still open (Xataka, 22 May 2026).

All of this concerns pirate football streams. Starz is a legitimate U.S. subscription service, and the reports we read say nothing about ordinary people using a VPN or a residential U.S. IP to reach one. We do not stretch them further than that.

What we can say

The Spanish routes are the simple ones

Movistar Plus+ shows Outlander and its prequel in Spain under Spanish rights, and Amazon’s MGM+ channel has carried other former Lionsgate+ series. Watching there raises no question about where you are.

What we cannot say

How Starz reads its own rules

Only Starz decides how its rules apply to a viewer abroad. We do not interpret them on Starz’s behalf, and a U.S. address does not move your home out of Spain.

Laws, and the way courts apply them, change. If you need certainty for your own situation, ask a lawyer or a Spanish consumer organisation.

Questions from Spain

Starz in Spain — FAQ

Short, self-contained answers, checked on 10 October 2026.

Is Starz available in Spain?

No, not as a Spanish service. Starz’s Google Play listing says: “STARZ online services are only accessible through participating partners in the U.S. and certain U.S. territories”. The STARZ app was not in the Spanish App Store on 10 October 2026, and Starz’s former international service, then called Lionsgate+, stopped here on 30 March 2023, according to Rastreator; the Lionsgate+ channel listed for Spain today belongs to Lionsgate. A residential U.S. IP changes where Starz sees you connecting from, but Starz decides which connections it accepts and can refuse any of them, USip’s included. For Outlander, Movistar Plus+ is the Spanish route.

When did STARZPLAY and Lionsgate+ close in Spain?

STARZPLAY reached Spain by 2019 and joined Amazon’s Prime Video Channels when they opened here in November 2020. It was renamed Lionsgate+ at the end of September 2022, and about five weeks later Lionsgate announced it would leave Spain. The service stopped on 30 March 2023 and cancelled all subscriptions, according to Rastreator. Amazon moved its Lionsgate+ channel customers to MGM+ International between 10 April and 9 May 2023. Starz has had no service of its own in Spain since. Lionsgate’s own page now lists Spain for Lionsgate+ as an add-on channel in Prime Video, but that channel is Lionsgate’s, not Starz’s.

Where can I watch Outlander in Spain?

On Movistar Plus+, which says it is the only platform in Spain offering every episode. The eighth and final season arrived there on Saturday 7 March 2026, hours after its U.S. premiere on Starz, with one episode a week until the last on Saturday 16 May 2026. You do not need Starz’s U.S. service or a U.S. address for it. Catalogues change, so check Movistar Plus+ before you plan around it.

Is Outlander: Blood of My Blood available in Spain?

Yes. In Spain the prequel is called Outlander: Sangre de mi sangre, and it is on Movistar Plus+ exclusively. Its second season started there on Saturday 19 September 2026, a day after it began on Starz in the U.S., and Movistar Plus+ said the same day that every season of the original series was on its platform too. We checked on 10 October 2026.

Where are the Power series in Spain?

When Lionsgate+ closed here in 2023, Amazon’s MGM+ International channel took over its Prime Video customers and listed the Power franchise among its series (AVPasión; Variety); we could not confirm which seasons it has in October 2026. Separately, TheWrap reported on 27 July 2026 that Power, Ghost, Raising Kanan and Force will come to Netflix internationally from November under a non-exclusive deal. The report names only the U.S. and Canada as excluded, so Spain is not among them, but the series are not on Netflix yet and we found no Spanish date.

Is the STARZ app in the Spanish App Store?

No. On 10 October 2026 the STARZ app was listed in the U.S. App Store only, not in the Spanish one. Moving an Apple Account to another country or region is subject to Apple’s own conditions, set out on its support page. Google Play lets you change country only when you are actually in the new country, and then not again for at least 90 days. That is why this guide starts in a laptop browser, which needs no store.

Can I watch Starz in Spain with a residential US IP?

Perhaps. Starz alone decides whether it accepts the connection, so the fair answer comes from trying once, carefully. On a laptop, start the USip residential U.S. IP and confirm that no IPv6 address names your Spanish provider. Then open starz.com in a private window and play an episode from a Starz subscription you already have. A minute of playback settles the connection question. If a message about your location appears instead, keep its exact wording, reconnect, try a second time and then pass the wording to USip support.

Does USip include a Starz subscription?

No. They are two separate companies and two separate services. What USip provides is one residential U.S. IP address and help with connecting it. A Starz subscription, the series in it and any app-store country are outside the USip plan, and so is the decision about whether Starz accepts the connection — that one belongs to Starz alone.

How many devices can stream Starz at once?

Starz’s help centre says: “You can stream on up to 4 different devices at once.” Going over that number causes an error in the app, and Starz also caps how many devices can be registered to one account, asking you to remove one when you reach the cap. The USip connection has a limit of its own: one connection at a time, so decide which device in Spain uses it.

Can I watch Starz on my TV in Spain?

It depends on two things that have nothing to do with each other. The first is the connection. Televisions, streaming sticks and consoles cannot run OpenVPN Connect, so USip reaches them through Smart DNS: register your home’s public IP address with USip, then enter the DNS settings on the TV or on your router. The second is the app itself. Spanish TV app stores may not offer the STARZ app — we have not checked them — so do the laptop check first.

When do new Starz episodes come out in Spanish time?

Usually at midnight Eastern Time on the release day, which for most of the year is 06:00 in Madrid and 05:00 in the Canary Islands. From 25 to 31 October 2026 and from 14 to 27 March 2027 everything is an hour earlier, because Spain and the U.S. change their clocks on different Sundays. Some series reach the STARZ app a day after their channel premiere. Movistar Plus+ started the latest Outlander seasons on Saturdays.

Is it legal to use a VPN in Spain?

We have not found a Spanish law that bans VPN software as such, and INCIBE, Spain’s National Cybersecurity Institute, recommends a VPN on public Wi-Fi. Courts have ordered internet providers, and in 2026 two VPN providers, to block addresses used for pirate football streams; those orders concern piracy, not people watching a legitimate service. We are not lawyers and this is not legal advice. Whether Starz accepts a connection is a separate question, and Starz’s decision.

Is MGM+ the same as Starz?

No. MGM+ International is Amazon’s channel in Prime Video. In Spain it took over the customers of the Prime Video version of Lionsgate+ in spring 2023, along with series such as Power and Black Mafia Family. It is not Starz and does not give you Starz’s U.S. app or catalogue. Spartacus: House of Ashur was on MGM+ in Spain in December 2025; check the Prime Video app for what it carries now.

Starz’s own international service closed in each of these countries, and each guide traces where the series went there. The hub explains Starz from anywhere outside the U.S.; the country guides add the local rights, local clocks and local rules.

Spanish services first, Starz’s U.S. service for what they lack

For most people in Spain the honest answer needs no U.S. address at all. Outlander, its final season included, and its prequel are on Movistar Plus+, a few hours to a day after the U.S., and Amazon’s MGM+ channel has carried Starz series such as Spartacus: House of Ashur and, since 2023, the Power franchise. Start there.

Starz’s own service matters if you want its U.S. catalogue, its release day or a subscription you already hold — as an American living in Spain, for example. If that is you, do the ten-minute check on a laptop first. Should Starz show a message, note every word of it; that wording is what USip support needs to help.

USip supplies the residential U.S. IP connection only. Starz’s service, catalogue and decisions about connections are Starz’s own, and the Spanish rights belong to the Spanish services that hold them.
