Advertising instead of a plan
Tubi’s help centre puts it in one line: “Tubi is free, but it’s supported by advertising.” There is no plan to pick and no trial to start.
Short answer: Tubi has no Swedish service. Its help page on watching from abroad opens with “If you’re located outside the United States, you can watch Tubi on the following devices:” and then names Canada, Australia, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Panama and the United Kingdom. Sweden is not on that list, and no other Nordic country is either. When we looked on 11 October 2026, the Tubi app was not in the Swedish App Store.
Free, legal viewing in Sweden comes from other services. SVT Play and UR Play carry the public broadcasters’ programmes; TV4 Play has a free selection with ads, opened with a free account; and Pluto TV has run a Swedish edition, free with ads, since 18 May 2022. SVT plans to make signing in compulsory in its app, with no date set yet; svtplay.se stays open without an account.
If it is the American Tubi you want, keep the first check small. On a laptop, connect the residential U.S. IP from USip, open tubitv.com in a private browser window and watch one free title as a guest. Whether Tubi accepts that connection is its own decision, and it can turn down any connection, USip’s included.

Sweden has free television of its own, from the public broadcasters and from services that carry ads. Below is what each service’s own pages, or a dated report, said when we looked on 11 October 2026.
| Service | What it is | How to watch, and any sign-in |
|---|---|---|
| SVT Play | Sveriges Television’s player, with SVT’s channels and programmes from Sweden’s public broadcaster | In a browser at svtplay.se or in the SVT Play app. No sign-in yet. SVT says its app will require an SVT account in stages, with no date set, while svtplay.se will not |
| UR Play | The player of UR, the educational broadcaster that belongs to Sweden’s public service group with SVT and SR | UR says its programmes are freely available to watch and can be streamed at any time on UR Play. We could not confirm whether an account is ever needed |
| TV4 Play, free selection | TV4’s player. TV4 wrote in August 2025 that programmes and news are free with ads there; the live TV4 channel itself is not part of that | TV4’s own App Store description asks you to log in with a free account to reach its classic free selection |
| Pluto TV | Paramount’s free streaming service with ads. It opened in Sweden on 18 May 2022 with more than 70 local channels, and Paramount said Viafree would be phased out as a separate service | At pluto.tv in a browser, or in the app. Paramount said at launch that no registration was required; the app was listed in the Swedish App Store on 11 October 2026 |
| Samsung TV Plus | Samsung’s free channels with ads, built into its own smart TVs | On Samsung smart TVs from 2017 onwards. Samsung’s Swedish newsroom said in November 2023 that it offered over 100 channels in Sweden; we found no newer count |
Of these, Pluto TV is closest to Tubi in format: live channels and on-demand titles, free with ads. But Paramount called its Swedish channels “locally curated”, so expect a Swedish line-up, not the American one.
TV4 changed most recently. In August 2025 it said the channel would leave the terrestrial network at the turn of the year, ending free viewing through an aerial. Its programmes and news stay free with ads on TV4 Play.
Catalogues and sign-in rules change; each row reflects the service’s own page or a dated report, checked on 11 October 2026. None of these is Tubi, and a film you know from Tubi may or may not appear on one of them.

Tubi has not published a reason for leaving any country off its list. These are the facts we could pin to a source, and the point where each one stops.
| What we checked | What we found | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Tubi’s list of places outside the U.S. | Ten places, from Canada to the United Kingdom. No Nordic country and no EU member is among them | Tubi Help Center, read 11 October 2026 |
| The Swedish App Store | No Tubi app. It was listed in the U.S., UK, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand, Mexican and Puerto Rican stores, and absent from the Danish, Norwegian and Finnish ones | Apple’s App Store, our own look on 11 October 2026 |
| Tubi in the EU | Two reports say Tubi became unavailable in the European Union in 2018, when the GDPR privacy rules took effect. We found no statement from Tubi itself | Cord Busters, 2 December 2023, updated 2 July 2024; Presse-citron, 15 July 2024, citing Variety |
| A Swedish service since then | None that we could find. Presse-citron wrote in 2024 that the UK launch would not at once be followed by other European launches | Tubi’s list, as above; Presse-citron, 15 July 2024 |
| How Tubi licenses titles | Territory by territory. Its August 2026 deals with NBCUniversal and Sony cover more than 450 library titles for Australia, Canada and the UK | Tubi press release, 26 August 2026 |
| Tubi UK and Tubi in the U.S. | Tubi UK opened in July 2024 with over 20,000 titles and reached over 75,000 by July 2026; Tubi puts its library at nearly 400,000. Two separate collections | Tubi press releases of 2 July 2024, 22 July 2026 and 23 September 2026 |
Taken together, these point one way: Tubi runs separate services in separate places, each with its own licensed library, and none of them is Swedish. The GDPR explanation for 2018 comes from two reports, not from Tubi, and we do not know whether it still applies.
That also marks the limit of a U.S. address. It does not turn Tubi into a Swedish service, and it does not bring the UK library to Sweden. It changes the address Tubi sees; everything after that is Tubi’s decision.

If your idea of Tubi comes from an American friend, a U.S. trip or an old article, here is where it stands now, in six points. Each comes from Tubi’s or Fox’s own help pages and press releases.
Tubi’s help centre puts it in one line: “Tubi is free, but it’s supported by advertising.” There is no plan to pick and no trial to start.
Tubi tells newcomers they can carry on as guests or register one account; nobody needs several. Kids Mode works without signing in too, the same help article says.
For people who register, Tubi says: “Tubi Accounts are for individuals who meet local age requirements, such as 13 or older in the United States.” Some live events have needed an account: Tubi said a free one was required for Super Bowl LIX, streamed live in the U.S. on 9 February 2025.
Fox Corporation announced on 17 March 2020 that it would acquire Tubi. Tubi now calls itself part of Tubi Media Group, a division of Fox Corporation, and was founded in San Francisco in 2014.
On 6 August 2026 Tubi reported 110 million monthly active users, up 14% on a year earlier. By Nielsen’s count it had 2.3% of all U.S. TV viewing in April 2026.
In August 2026 Tubi counted more than 375,000 movies and TV episodes, including over 400 Tubi Originals and 25,000 creator episodes; in September it said nearly 400,000. In October 2022 it reported over 200 live sports, entertainment and news channels.
Live sport is the newest strand. Tubi’s release of 23 September 2026 calls the NFL Channel “the NFL's 24/7 free, always-on channel” and says Tubi will stream FOX Sports’ Dallas Cowboys vs Philadelphia Eagles game on Thursday 26 November 2026 at 4:30 p.m. ET, 22:30 in Stockholm. The release does not say whether the game can be watched outside the U.S.

Tubi’s live channels and events keep U.S. hours. For most of the year New York runs six hours behind Stockholm; the gap drops to five hours in two short spells, a week in late October and a fortnight in March.
| In the U.S. | Stockholm, usual six-hour gap | Stockholm, five-hour weeks (25–31 Oct 2026, 14–27 Mar 2027) |
|---|---|---|
| 8 p.m. Eastern: U.S. prime time | 02:00, the next day | 01:00, the next day |
| 8 p.m. Pacific: West Coast prime time | 05:00, the next day | 04:00, the next day |
| 2 p.m. Eastern: a U.S. afternoon | 20:00, the same day | 19:00, the same day |
| Midnight Eastern: a new U.S. day begins | 06:00 | 05:00 |
| 4:30 p.m. Eastern, Thursday 26 November 2026: the Thanksgiving game | 22:30 on the Thursday | Outside the gap weeks |
Sweden changes its clocks on 25 October 2026 and 28 March 2027, the U.S. on 1 November 2026 and 14 March 2027. In the weeks between, U.S. programmes start an hour earlier on a Stockholm clock. The Thanksgiving game falls after both autumn changes, so 22:30 holds. Run the four-step check on a Swedish afternoon rather than at 02:00, so any problem shows up early.
Worked out on 11 October 2026 with Python’s zoneinfo (tz database 2026c). The times translate the clock only; what Tubi shows, and where, is up to Tubi.

The first thing Tubi learns about a visitor is the public IP address the request arrives from, and every Swedish provider hands out Swedish ones. PTS, the Swedish Post and Telecom Authority, counts who supplies the lines. Its newest yearly report, Svensk telekommarknad 2025, came out on 25 May 2026 and describes the market on 31 December 2025.
| Provider | Fixed broadband, share | Mobile, share |
|---|---|---|
| Telia | 29.2% | 30.3% |
| Tele2, with Com Hem counted in | 23.4% | 25.8% |
| Telenor | 14.3% | 20.5% |
| Tre (Hi3G) | Not listed separately | 19.1% |
| Bredband2 | 12.1% | Not listed separately |
| Bahnhof | 8.5% | Not listed separately |
| Allente and Sappa | 1.8% and 1.2% | Not listed separately |
| Everyone else | 9.5% | 4.3% |
Behind those shares sit a little more than 4.3 million fixed connections, roughly 3.6 million of them fibre, at the end of 2025. PTS also records that Bredband2’s shareholders accepted Telia’s offer in 2026, and that Telia will then hold 41.3% of fixed broadband.
The provider’s name makes no difference to Tubi. A Bahnhof fibre line in Luleå, a Telenor connection in Västerås and Tre’s mobile broadband in Kiruna all present a Swedish address, and neither a router setting nor a phone hotspot makes it American. Changing what Tubi sees means routing one device’s traffic another way, which is the job of a residential U.S. IP.
Read the IPv6 line too. Where a provider issues IPv6, a device can hold an IPv6 address beside its IPv4 one, and a website may use either. An American IPv4 address next to a Swedish IPv6 address leaves your Swedish provider in view, which is why step 1 of the check looks at both.
In a block of flats the fibre may come via a city network (stadsnät) or a deal made by the housing association, so the router may belong to someone else. In that case, enter USip’s Smart DNS details on the television itself.

An address checker that says “United States” can sit on top of very different set-ups. Besides the country, a service can see what kind of network an address belongs to: a household internet provider, or a hosting company.
| Connection | What Tubi receives | Sensible for | The catch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your Swedish line at home | An address from Telia, Tele2, Telenor, Tre, Bahnhof or whichever Swedish provider you use | SVT Play, UR Play, TV4 Play, Pluto TV and other Swedish viewing | Sweden is not on Tubi’s list of places |
| A free VPN app | A server address shared by many strangers at the same time | Very little that tells you anything about Tubi | Crowded and unpredictable, and nothing like a home line |
| A data-centre VPN | An address from a hosting firm’s range | Privacy on hotel, café or train Wi-Fi | The country shows as U.S., yet the network belongs to a hosting business, which a service can recognise |
| USip residential U.S. IP | A single home address from a U.S. internet provider, assigned by USip | A first check on tubitv.com that gives a readable answer | Tubi may still say no |
One address, and nothing on top of it.
If the address reads American and the title still will not play, that is Tubi’s answer for now: follow step 4 of the check.
Put plainly: Tubi alone decides which connections it lets through. An ordinary home address is not the same as an approved one, and this page promises nothing.

Tubi lets guests watch, so this check needs no account and no sign-up. Run it once on a laptop, before a phone or a television is involved.
Install OpenVPN Connect with USip’s profile, using the Windows guide or the Mac guide, and connect. Then load an IP address checker. You want an American IPv4 address. Look for an IPv6 line as well: if one is shown and it belongs to a Swedish provider such as Telia, Tele2 or Bahnhof, Tubi can still see Sweden. Fix that first: the connection must cover IPv6 too, or IPv6 must be off on the laptop for the check.
Start a new private window, so no cookies from your Swedish visits come along, and go to tubitv.com. Close SVT Play, TV4 Play and any other streaming tabs first; one service at a time keeps the answer clean.
Pick any film or episode and leave it running for around a minute, ads and all. No account is involved. Tubi’s help centre, answering a newcomer’s question about accounts, says: “No. You can still continue watching as a guest or register a single Tubi Account.”
Playback that carries on means the address part is done, for that evening. If Tubi shows an error or says something about your location, note its exact words. Reconnect USip once, open a new private window and make one more attempt. Same words again? Send them to USip support and leave it at that; further tries add nothing.
One minute of playback answers the address question for that evening only. Accepting or refusing the connection is Tubi’s call alone, every time. USip keeps dated records of its own on a separate page, USip’s published checks; this guide does not quote or summarise them.

USip recorded these four videos in November 2022. Their connection steps still apply: OpenVPN Connect, the USip profile, connect. Tubi’s screens have changed, and the phone videos include an app-store country switch that is out of date; leave that part out.

The video brings the connection up and only then opens Tubi in a browser, still the right order. Once the checker shows an American IPv4 address, open a private window: Ctrl+Shift+N does it in Chrome and Edge, Ctrl+Shift+P in Firefox. A work laptop that runs its employer’s VPN is a poor choice, because two tunnels make any result unreadable.
Step by step: the Windows setup guide.

The Mac video uses the same connection steps and finishes on Tubi’s website. If iCloud Private Relay is switched on, turn it off for the check: it routes Safari through Apple’s relays, not through USip. Where your Swedish line hands the Mac an IPv6 address too, look at that line in the address checker as well.
Step by step: the Mac setup guide.

The Android video also moves the phone’s Google Play country to the U.S.; that part is out of date, so skip it. Google’s help page sets the rules: “To set up a new country or region, you must be in that location”, and you “must wait at least 90 days” before changing again.
Google Play was outside our store check, so we say nothing either way about Tubi there. Open tubitv.com in Chrome first, and keep Android’s battery saver away from OpenVPN Connect.
Step by step: the Android setup guide.

Apple’s Swedish store had no Tubi app when we looked on 11 October 2026. In the video the Apple Account is switched to the U.S. store; that part is out of date. Apple lists its own conditions for a country or region change on its support page, in our sources; they affect the whole account, not one app. Follow the USip steps, then open tubitv.com in Safari.
Step by step: the iOS setup guide.
A television, a streaming stick or a games console has no OpenVPN Connect app, so it takes the other route: Smart DNS. You give USip your home’s public IP address, then put the DNS details into the device itself, or once into the router so that every device at home uses them. Should your provider ever give the home a new public address, register that one with USip instead.
Smart DNS changes what Tubi sees from the television, but it cannot put the Tubi app on a TV whose app store lacks it, and we could not confirm Swedish TV app stores one by one.

One residential U.S. IP — an ordinary consumer address on a U.S. ISP, not a server range. USip and Tubi are separate services: the plans include the connection only — not a Tubi account, an app-store region or the rights to any channel, series or film.
Separate services: these prices are for the USip residential U.S. IP service only. Tubi is a separate service, free with ads; a Tubi account and access to any particular channel, series or film are not part of a USip plan.
Which apps you can install depends on the country your Apple, Google or TV account is set to, and each store’s own rules decide when that country can change. A U.S. address from USip does not change it.
When we looked on 11 October 2026, the Tubi app was not in the Swedish App Store. Apple listed it in the U.S., UK, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand, Mexican and Puerto Rican stores, and not in the Danish, Norwegian or Finnish ones.
Apple’s support page sets out what must be true before an account can change country or region, and a change affects every app and service on it. We never make that switch part of a check.
Our store check covered Apple only, so we make no claim about Tubi on Google Play. Google’s help page sets two conditions for a Play country change: being in that country, and at least 90 days between changes.
Tubi’s U.S. device list runs from Roku and Fire TV to Android TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, Samsung, LG, Vizio, PlayStation and Xbox. Which of their Swedish app stores carry Tubi, we could not confirm.
Pluto TV’s app was in the Swedish App Store on 11 October 2026, as you would expect for a service with a Swedish edition. The difference from Tubi lies with the service, not with your phone.
This page will not send you to a fake address, someone else’s U.S. ZIP code or an unofficial app store. When a store or a form wants American details that are not yours, that is the place to stop.
So the laptop browser goes first: tubitv.com sits outside every app store, so the country your Apple or Google account is set to does not come into it. The phone and the television wait until the laptop has answered.

A caution first: we are not lawyers and nothing here is legal advice. What follows is what official Swedish sources said on 11 October 2026, and the point where they stop.
Nothing we found in Swedish law forbids VPN software as such. What you watch, download or share is still covered by the ordinary rules, copyright among them, on any kind of connection.
On 30 September 2025 the Government Offices published Åtgärder mot illegal ip-tv (SOU 2025:100). It proposed making clear that private individuals commit an offence, punishable by a fine, when they use the kind of illegal IPTV services common today, and that the changes take effect by 1 July 2026.
The passages we read mention VPNs as something people use to stay hidden or to get round blocking; we found no proposal in the inquiry to ban VPN software. It also notes that Swedish courts can already order blocking (blockeringsförelägganden), a tool used against infringing services.
The government’s film-policy proposition of 18 June 2026 (prop. 2025/26:287) has a section whose heading says that measures against illegal IPTV need to be analysed and investigated. We found nothing, by 11 October 2026, that turns the inquiry’s proposal into law.
The inquiry deals with illegal IPTV, meaning unlicensed services. Tubi is a free, licensed U.S. service, and we draw no wider conclusion than that. Separately from the law, Tubi alone decides which connections it accepts. For a firm answer about your own circumstances, ask a Swedish lawyer; at work or at university, the network’s own IT rules come on top.
Each answer is written to be read on its own. Sources: Tubi’s help centre and press releases, SVT, TV4, Paramount, PTS and the Government Offices, read on 11 October 2026. If we could not find out, the answer says that.
No. Tubi’s help page about watching outside the United States names ten places: Canada, Australia, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Panama and the United Kingdom. Sweden is not one of them, and when we looked on 11 October 2026 the Tubi app was not in the Swedish App Store. Free, legal options here include SVT Play, UR Play, TV4 Play’s free selection and Pluto TV.
Tubi has not said why. On 11 October 2026 the app was listed in the U.S., UK, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand, Mexican and Puerto Rican stores, and not in the Swedish, Danish, Norwegian or Finnish ones. That fits Tubi’s own list of places outside the U.S., which names no Nordic country. A U.S. address from USip does not change your Apple Account’s store.
Two reports, from Cord Busters and from Presse-citron citing Variety, say Tubi became unavailable in the European Union in 2018, when the GDPR privacy rules took effect. Sweden is an EU member, so if they are right, Tubi has not been available here since then. We found no statement from Tubi itself. Tubi has since opened in the UK, in July 2024, but not in Sweden.
Yes, in the places it serves. Tubi’s help centre says: “Tubi is free, but it’s supported by advertising.” There is no plan and no trial. Free does not mean available, though: Sweden is not on Tubi’s list of places. USip is a separate service that supplies a residential U.S. IP connection, and its plans include no Tubi account.
Not to start watching. Tubi’s help centre says: “No. You can still continue watching as a guest or register a single Tubi Account.” Accounts are for people who meet local age requirements, which Tubi gives as 13 or older in the United States. Some live events have needed one: Tubi said a free account was required for Super Bowl LIX, streamed live in the U.S. on 9 February 2025. USip does not create Tubi accounts.
Only Tubi can answer that. With USip, your laptop reaches Tubi through one ordinary U.S. household connection instead of from Telia, Tele2 or another Swedish line. Tubi may accept that connection or refuse it, as it may refuse any connection, and USip makes no promise. To find out without signing up for anything, run the four-step check above.
There is nothing to include. Tubi is free with ads and lets guests watch, and USip has no link to Tubi or its accounts. What USip provides is a single residential U.S. IP address, used through OpenVPN Connect on a computer or phone, or through Smart DNS on a television. SVT, TV4 and Pluto TV are just as separate from USip.
No. Tubi opened in the UK in July 2024 with over 20,000 titles, and in July 2026 said it had tripled the UK offering to over 75,000 movies and TV episodes. Tubi put its library at nearly 400,000 in September 2026. Tubi licenses titles country by country, as its August 2026 deals for Australia, Canada and the UK show, so the two are different collections. Sweden has neither.
Try the laptop first, and turn to the TV only once the laptop has shown that Tubi accepts the connection. A TV has no OpenVPN Connect app, so USip reaches it through Smart DNS: your home’s public IP address is registered with USip and the DNS details go into the TV or the router. That changes what Tubi sees, but it does not add the Tubi app to a TV whose Swedish app store lacks it; we could not confirm Swedish TV stores.
For most of the year, 8 p.m. Eastern is 02:00 the next morning in Stockholm, and 8 p.m. Pacific is 05:00. From 25 to 31 October 2026 and from 14 to 27 March 2027 both come an hour earlier: those are the weeks when Sweden has changed its clocks and the U.S. has not, or the other way round. A Swedish evening at 20:00 matches 2 p.m. in New York.
We cannot say. Tubi’s release of 23 September 2026 says it will stream FOX Sports’ Dallas Cowboys vs Philadelphia Eagles game on Thursday 26 November 2026 at 4:30 p.m. ET, which is 22:30 in Stockholm. The release does not say whether the game can be watched outside the U.S., and Sweden is not on Tubi’s list of places. Treat any promise that it will play here with caution.
As far as we found, no Swedish law bans VPN software itself. We are not lawyers, though, and this is not legal advice. The live debate is about illegal IPTV: a 2025 inquiry, SOU 2025:100, proposed making its use an offence for private individuals, and in June 2026 the government said such measures needed more analysis. Tubi is a free, licensed service, and it decides on its own which connections to accept.
In the app, at some point. SVT’s help page says no sign-in is needed yet and that the requirement will come in stages to the SVT Play apps on phones, tablets and TVs; on 9 October 2026 SVT reported that no date had been set. Watching at svtplay.se in a browser will not require an account, SVT says. An SVT account asks for your email address and age, and it is free.
Write the message down exactly as Tubi shows it. Disconnect and reconnect USip once, open a new private window and play the title one more time. If the same words come back, send them to USip support and leave it there; repeated attempts do not change Tubi’s answer and make the cause harder to see. Tubi can refuse any connection, and that is its call.
3-day free trial · 14-day money-back · Tubi itself is free and separate
Tubi’s position outside the U.S. as a whole is on the hub. From Sweden, the Norway and Denmark guides are the closest: the same clock, and Pluto TV reached all three countries on 18 May 2022. Ireland, Denmark and the Netherlands share Sweden’s EU history with Tubi.
Each read on 11 October 2026 unless a date is given. Pages named and dated in the text instead include SVT’s report of 9 October 2026, UR’s own description, TV4’s and Pluto TV’s App Store listings, Presse-citron, the government’s June 2026 proposition, Fox’s 2020 announcement and Tubi’s other releases.
If free television is what you are after, Sweden has it already: SVT Play, UR Play, TV4 Play’s free selection, Pluto TV and, on Samsung sets, Samsung TV Plus. None of them needs a U.S. address.
For Tubi’s American service, spend ten minutes on one laptop. Connect USip, check that both address lines look right, then play one free title as a guest at tubitv.com in a private window. If Tubi answers with an error or a location message, copy it word for word, retry once, and pass the exact wording to USip support.
USip supplies the residential U.S. IP connection only. Tubi’s library, ads, live events and decisions, the app stores, the Swedish services named here and any question of Swedish law are outside it.
