How to Watch Discovery+ Outside the US

Discovery+ operates in several countries, but an account does not automatically carry the same catalogue or subscription terms everywhere. A residential US IP changes the network location Discovery+ sees; it does not create a US account, move app-store billing or add programmes that are not included with the active plan.

Where Discovery+ Works — and Why the Answer Changes by Country

Discovery+ is not simply a US-only service. It has separate products and catalogues in multiple markets, and its current travel policy treats North America differently from travel farther abroad.

US or Canadian subscriber travelling in North America

Discovery+ says subscribers from the US or Canada can sign in while travelling within North America. The listed area includes Canada, the United States, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.

What can still change: content and features may vary by country, even when the sign-in works.

Travelling outside North America

The official guidance says a separate Discovery+ subscription is needed in the destination country. It currently lists Austria, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy and the United Kingdom as available markets outside North America.

What this means: a US IP does not convert a local plan into a US subscription or transfer billing between markets.

Canada changed in 2026: Warner Bros. Discovery’s Canadian service closed on February 17, 2026, and a new Discovery+ service is provided by Rogers Sports & Media. Confirm which Canadian account and app you actually use before troubleshooting.

What Discovery+ Costs in the US

The US service lists two monthly plans. Both include the same Discovery+ catalogue on supported devices; the main differences are advertising and offline mobile downloads.

US plan Monthly price Advertising Downloads
Discovery+ $5.99 Limited ads Not listed
Discovery+ (Ad-Free) $9.99 No standard ads Offline mobile downloads
Important: prices exclude applicable taxes. A promotion or subscription billed by Apple, Google, Amazon, Roku, Spectrum or another provider can have different renewal and cancellation rules. These are Discovery+ prices, not USip VPN prices.

Account, billing and travel are separate layers

What Follows You Abroad — and What Stays Tied to the Market

Start by identifying who bills the subscription. The same Discovery+ email address does not prove that the direct website, an app store and a TV or broadband provider will recognise the same entitlement.

Direct Discovery+ subscription

Use the email and password attached to discoveryplus.com. The account’s home market, current plan and travel rules still govern access; the IP address does not rewrite them.

App-store or device billing

Apple, Google, Amazon, Roku, Samsung or Vizio may own the renewal. The store country and active purchase can remain different from the network country seen by Discovery+.

TV, mobile or broadband provider

Provider access can require activation before the Discovery+ login works. Confirm the provider entitlement first, then test the network in a clean browser.
Discovery+ and Max are separate subscriptions. A Discovery+ plan does not automatically provide Max access, and a US IP cannot combine the two services or move an entitlement between them.
A controlled browser-first workflow

Test Discovery+ Outside the US in Four Steps

Use one ordinary on-demand episode and change one layer at a time. This distinguishes a network-location problem from subscription, catalogue, app-store and device problems.

01

Close Discovery+ first

Close every Discovery+ browser tab and app before changing the connection. Do not restore a session that already contains the previous country.

Result: a clean starting state.

02

Connect to a residential US IP

Start USip, choose the US connection and confirm that a public IP checker reports the United States before opening Discovery+.

Result: the network layer is ready.

03

Open a private browser window

Go to Discovery+ in a private or incognito window and sign in with the exact account that owns the subscription or provider activation.

Result: old cookies and cached region state are excluded.

04

Play a normal included episode

Test one on-demand episode before a premiere, live feed or TV app. Keep the same US IP active through sign-in and playback.

Result: playback proves the basic route.

Keep the first test narrow: do not change the payment profile, app-store country, plan or final device until a standard browser title has been tested.
Change only the network layer

What a Residential US IP Can — and Cannot — Change

A residential endpoint presents a public address associated with a normal household connection. It can improve the network-location test, but it does not control Discovery+ accounts, billing or programme licences.

It can help with

  • Replacing a non-US public IP with a residential US connection
  • Keeping one consistent US network identity through sign-in and playback
  • Separating a location error from a plan, provider or title-rights error
  • Testing the browser before configuring a television or streaming player

It cannot provide

  • A Discovery+ account, US subscription or accepted payment method
  • A different Apple, Google, Amazon, Roku or smart-TV store country
  • Access to every US programme, language track, premiere or live feed
  • A guarantee that Discovery+ will accept or continue every session

Discovery+ Setup by Device — with Windows, Mac, iOS and Android Videos

Discovery+ supports computers, phones, tablets, TVs, streaming players and Xbox. Prove the account and network in a private desktop browser first; then configure the device you actually want to use.

Windows

Test Discovery+ on Windows

Import the current USip OpenVPN profile, connect to the residential US endpoint and verify the public country before opening Chrome, Edge or Firefox. Use a private window and start with one episode included in the active plan. If the website opens but playback does not: close old tabs, check that no second VPN or proxy is active, and compare the error with the troubleshooting table below.
Mac

Test Discovery+ on a Mac

Connect with the current USip OpenVPN configuration before launching Safari or a Chromium browser. A new private session prevents the browser from restoring the country stored by an earlier Discovery+ visit. If Chrome works but Safari does not: keep the working US connection and inspect Private Relay, browser extensions, cookies and location permissions instead of changing the subscription.
iPhone and iPad

Use Discovery+ on iOS or iPadOS

The public IP, Apple Account country and Discovery+ subscription are separate decisions. First confirm playback in private Safari; then open the supported Discovery+ app with the same account and connection. If the app is absent or shows another market: review the Apple Account and existing subscription route. A US IP alone does not change App Store availability or move an in-app purchase.
Android and TV devices

Use Discovery+ on Android

Connect to the residential US endpoint, verify the public IP in the browser and only then open Discovery+. Google Play country, an Amazon or Roku purchase and a TV-provider entitlement can remain tied to their original market. For Android TV or another living-room device: establish the browser baseline first, then extend the same working connection through a compatible router and sign in through the correct billing route.
Official device scope: Discovery+ lists current browsers, Android and Apple mobile devices, Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, selected LG, Samsung and Vizio TVs, Xfinity Flex and Xbox. Confirm the latest version requirements before buying hardware.

Discovery+ Errors and What They Usually Mean

Do not rotate through connections at random. Preserve a working browser result and use the wording and timing of the failure to choose the next check.

“Not available in your region” or an immediate location message

Likely layer: public IP, old country cookie, DNS route or a second privacy service. Next check: close Discovery+, verify the US IP, open a private browser and retry one ordinary episode.

Sign-in or activation is rejected

Likely layer: wrong email, provider activation, expired entitlement or a different billing owner. Next check: use Discovery+ account settings to identify who bills the subscription and complete any provider activation.

One show, season or episode is missing

Likely layer: regional catalogue, release window, plan inclusion or a title that moved to another Warner Bros. Discovery service. Next check: compare the exact US listing and test a second title without changing the connection.

Browser playback works but the app or TV fails

Likely layer: app version, app-store country, TV DNS path, firmware or unsupported device. Next check: keep the browser baseline unchanged and troubleshoot only the final device.

Playback starts but buffers or loses quality

Likely layer: Wi-Fi stability, route quality, device load or adaptive-bitrate behaviour. Next check: use wired Ethernet where possible, stop competing downloads and test the same title on one device.

Payment or plan change is declined

Likely layer: billing country, card eligibility, taxes or the company that owns the subscription. Next check: contact the billing provider. Changing the IP does not change the payment profile.

Frequently asked questions

Discovery+ Outside the US: Account, Travel, Price and US IP FAQ

Can I watch Discovery+ outside the United States?
Discovery+ is available in multiple countries, but the service and catalogue are market-specific. A US or Canadian subscriber can stream while travelling within the North American area listed by Discovery+. Outside North America, Discovery+ says a separate local subscription may be needed.
Where can a US Discovery+ subscriber stream while travelling?
The official policy lists Canada, the United States, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. Content and features can still vary by country.
Which countries have Discovery+ outside North America?
Discovery+ currently lists Austria, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy and the United Kingdom. Each market can have its own catalogue, pricing, apps and subscription terms.
Does a residential US IP create a US Discovery+ account?
No. It changes the public network location only. It does not create an account, supply a subscription, change the billing country or move an app-store purchase.
Why is one Discovery+ show missing when other videos play?
That usually points away from the basic network route. Check the US programme listing, season availability, active plan, release window and whether the title moved to another Warner Bros. Discovery service.
How do I find who bills my Discovery+ subscription?
Open the Subscription section in the Discovery+ account. It can identify direct billing, an app store or another provider. Manage renewal and cancellation with the company shown there.
Is provider access the same as a direct Discovery+ subscription?
Not always. Spectrum or another provider may require a one-time activation, while Apple, Google, Amazon, Roku or a TV platform can own the in-app purchase. Use the sign-in route connected to the billing owner.
How much does Discovery+ cost in the US?
The official US help centre lists Discovery+ with limited ads at $5.99 per month and Discovery+ Ad-Free at $9.99 per month, before applicable taxes. Partner prices or promotions may differ.
Does Discovery+ include Max?
No. Discovery+ and Max are separate subscriptions. Some Discovery programming appears on Max, but a Discovery+ subscription does not automatically provide Max access.
Which devices support Discovery+?
Discovery+ lists current desktop browsers, Apple and Android mobile devices, Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, selected smart TVs, Xfinity Flex and Xbox. Check the official device page for current version requirements.
In what order should I connect and open Discovery+?
Close the service, connect to the residential US IP, verify the public country, open a private browser window, sign in and test one included on-demand episode. Move to the final device only after that baseline works.
Is the OpenVPN setup in these videos still relevant?
Yes. Use the current USip OpenVPN profile for the relevant device, connect before opening Discovery+ and keep the same connection active through sign-in and playback.
Start with one included Discovery+ episode in a private browser. That single test separates network location from the subscription route, regional catalogue, app store and final device.
