Peacock streams in the United States and five U.S. territories, and its terms say a U.S. account may not be used from anywhere else. A residential U.S. IP changes the location Peacock reads — not the account, the plan, the payment method or the terms.
Peacock publishes a one-line answer, and the honest first step is to read it: “Peacock is currently available to stream within the United States and certain U.S. territories (American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands).” That is the whole list. There is no Peacock UK, Peacock Canada or Peacock Australia, and Peacock says nothing about travelling because its terms do not allow it.
From anywhere else, peacocktv.com does not show a catalogue, a sign-up page or an error code. It shows a page titled “Unavailable In Your Region” with two lines — “For US customers: Your device must physically be located in the US to stream” and “For other international audiences: Peacock is not yet available in your territory.” Even the help articles redirect to it.
The location check is the first decision, but not the only one. An old browser cookie can carry a previous region, an app can keep cached account state, and a television can use a different network path from the computer you tested — which is why the test below isolates one layer at a time.
The Peacock areas inside Sky and NOW in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland closed on 9 January 2024. Nothing has replaced them.

HBO Max lets a U.S. account travel to any country where it is sold. Peacock does not: its terms say “You may not access or use the Peacock Service if you are outside of the United States (including its territories and possessions).” Here is what that means row by row.

Peacock does not name a VPN error the way HBO Max does. It does three things instead, and each one tells you which layer failed.
peacocktv.com, loaded from outside the United States, shows one page: “For US customers: Your device must physically be located in the US to stream. For other international audiences: Peacock is not yet available in your territory.” This is a location verdict, not a login problem — and the help pages redirect to it too.
VPN-testing sites report error OVP_00012 — “Something went wrong. Sorry, there was a playback error” — when Peacock rejects an address. Peacock’s terms explain the rest: content can be “unavailable due to your location, blackouts, or other restrictions,” and the store that serves the app has its own country.
The same terms ask you not to “conceal your identity or location, including in an attempt to circumvent … geographic Content restrictions.” Read it twice: Peacock is saying, in its own voice, that it verifies location and that concealing it is the thing it looks for.
Six things that look alike from the outside and are fixed in different places.
Confirm the public IP is US, close Peacock completely and retry in a new private window.
If this fixes it, the cause was network or session state.
Reconnect once to obtain a fresh residential endpoint, then clear Peacock cookies before testing again.
Repeated failure can mean Peacock rejected that connection.
Check the store account country, app cache and device route. A working browser already proves the network layer.
Do not keep changing IPs when only one device fails.

Recommended order: prove playback on Windows or Mac, then move to a phone, tablet or TV. If the browser works and the app does not, stop changing the connection — the remaining difference is the app session, store account or device path.
Windows is the clearest first test because it avoids a mobile app-store layer.

In 22 European countries Peacock titles are sold under the SkyShowtime name. Canada, Australia and everywhere else get Peacock’s “not yet available in your territory” page. NBCUniversal’s 2026 deal with YouTube puts Peacock inside YouTube Premium in the U.S. from 2027; it does not take Peacock abroad.

The service is for people who “reside in the United States,” and “You may not access or use the Peacock Service if you are outside of the United States (including its territories and possessions).” Peacock’s household rule lets you watch away from home on a device tied to your household — inside the U.S. A residential U.S. IP presents the U.S. location the account is written for, which is exactly what the same terms ask you not to do by concealing your location.

Peacock does not publish a VPN policy in those words. Its terms say you “may not provide fictitious information or conceal your identity or location, including in an attempt to circumvent limits associated with Promotions or geographic Content restrictions,” and VPN-testing sites report that a detected VPN gets error OVP_00012 — “Something went wrong. Sorry, there was a playback error.” What a streaming service checks for is the hosting-company address ranges VPNs use. A residential IP is a consumer address, not a hosting range — which is why it is different, and not why it is guaranteed.
No. A VPN gives you an address in a hosting company’s range, which is the kind of address a location check is built to catch. A residential U.S. IP is an ordinary address on a U.S. consumer ISP, the same kind a household has. Both present a location; only one looks like a household. Neither is exempt from Peacock’s terms, which ask you not to conceal your location.
No. It changes the location Peacock reads. Every title still depends on your plan — Select has no sports, films or originals at all — on your billing route, on the rights for that title, and, for live games, on the blackouts Peacock applies by location. Peacock can also block any address it chooses. If a plain on-demand title in your plan plays and one live game does not, the game is a rights question, not a network one.
Premium ($12.99 a month) and Premium Plus ($19.99). Both carry Peacock’s live sports — Sunday Night Football and the exclusive NFL games, NBA games, the Premier League, MLB, the Olympics, golf and the rest of the lineup. Select ($8.99) carries none of it: Peacock lists “Sports & Live Events” among the things Select does not include. Only Premium Plus adds your local NBC station live, and that station “will change if your location changes.”

Peacock does not run a free trial in 2026; the trials that exist come through partners — an Instacart+ trial that includes Peacock Premium, a 7-day trial of Premium Plus as a Prime Video add-on — and Walmart+ and some Xfinity plans include Premium as a benefit. USip’s own 3-day trial is a different thing — it covers the connection, not Peacock.
Peacock decides what it accepts. Its terms are written for people who “reside in the United States,” and a U.S. ZIP code drives the local NBC station and the regional-sports rules. A residential U.S. IP changes none of that: it is a network address, not a payment method, a billing country or an account. This page covers the location; the account is your own matter.
Only if the TV’s connection reads a U.S. location — usually a router that carries the U.S. connection — and the Peacock app is available in the device’s store region. Prove the account in a computer browser first; a TV adds store region, cached data and router location on top of everything the browser already tested, and Premium Plus’s local NBC station follows the location the device shares.
Because the TV is not using the same location. Store region, a saved app state, a different DNS path or a router that still reads your real country will each produce a different verdict from the browser test. Fix the device’s network first, then the app. Changing the IP again will not fix a device-specific failure.
It closed. Peacock launched as an area inside Sky and NOW in November 2021 and shut down in every Sky territory on 9 January 2024; some titles moved to Sky’s own channels and to Hayu, others left. Nothing about that gives a Sky or NOW customer a Peacock account, and nothing gives a Peacock account a Sky login.
