Your home’s TV may already carry TLC. Philo’s American feed is another matter.

How to Watch Philo in Sweden

Short answer: Philo is not sold in Sweden. From a Swedish connection its website and apps stop at one message — “Philo is only available in the US” — because Philo streams to the United States and its territories and nowhere else. That rule comes before everything, and it covers even Philo’s free channels.

Before you change anything, check what your home already gets. TLC is in the basic TV line-up for addresses on a Tele2 group agreement; Discovery Channel, ID, HISTORY, MTV and Nickelodeon are in Tele2’s bigger group package and on Allente’s 2026 lists for dish and broadband. Those are the versions on Swedish TV — six of the eighteen networks Philo calls popular. The other twelve, from A&E and AMC to Hallmark and WE tv, are on no Swedish list we read.

What Philo adds is the American versions, live on American clocks: 8 p.m. in New York is 2 a.m. in Stockholm. Below: Philo’s own rules, what a Telia or Tele2 line shows it, what a residential U.S. IP can and cannot change, and a ten-minute test that needs no account.

Which of Philo’s networks your Swedish TV may already carry

Philo’s pricing page names eighteen “popular channels”. Six of them turn up on Swedish channel lists in 2026 — and where they turn up says a lot about Swedish TV. We checked the lists the operators publish themselves: Allente’s for TV by satellite dish (valid from 1 June 2026) and by broadband (valid from 1 August 2026), and Tele2’s line-ups for addresses with a group agreement, read on 6 October 2026.

Philo’s networkThe Swedish listingWhere you would find it
TLC“TLC HD”, channel 23 at AllenteIn the basic line-up (Grundutbud) and Tv Bas for addresses on a Tele2 group agreement, and in Tele2’s Tv Silver; on Allente’s dish and broadband lists
Discovery Channel“Discovery Channel HD”, channel 42Allente, dish and broadband; Tele2’s Tv Silver group package
Investigation Discovery“ID Investigation Discovery”, channel 49Allente, dish and broadband; listed simply as “ID” in Tele2’s Tv Silver
HISTORY“HISTORY HD” on 44 and “HISTORY 2 HD” on 51Allente — on the dish list as internet-delivered channels for a connected Allente 1 or OnePlace box; “The HISTORY Channel” and “H2” in Tele2’s Tv Silver
MTV“MTV”, channel 30Allente, dish and broadband; Tele2’s Tv Silver
Nickelodeon“Nickelodeon” on 74, with “Nick Jr.” on 71 and “Nicktoons” on 77Allente, dish and broadband; all three in Tele2’s Tv Silver

The pattern is the Swedish part. These networks live in the long channel lists — the line-up that comes with an address on a group agreement, and Allente’s lists for the dish and for broadband. The packages Telia and Tele2 sell directly to households look different. Telia’s package pages name nine Swedish channels — SVT1, SVT2, TV3, TV4, Kanal 5, TV6, Sjuan, TV8 and Kanal 9 — and fill the rest with streaming services such as TV4 Play Plus, Viaplay, HBO Max, SkyShowtime, BritBox and Nordisk Film+. Tele2’s Tv & Streaming pages advertise 21 channels and a choice of streaming services. Neither names the six networks above.

HISTORY also reaches Sweden a third way. Tele2 describes TV4 Play Plus as including “Historia och faktaserier från HISTORY Play” — history and factual series from HISTORY Play — so some of HISTORY’s programmes reach Swedish screens inside a Swedish app.

The other twelve — A&E, AMC, BET, Hallmark, HGTV, IFC, Lifetime, LMN, OWN, TV One, VH1 and WE tv — are on none of the lists we read. That is a statement about channels, not programmes: single shows are licensed title by title and may turn up on other services. It means only that there is no Swedish channel by that name to switch on.

Same name, different channel. Philo streams the American networks; the Swedish listings are channels distributed in Sweden, so do not assume they show the same programme at the same time — compare the guides for the show you care about. Lists also change: Telia’s TV customers lost Discovery Channel, TLC and Kanal 5 in a contract dispute in April 2015 (The Local), and nine Discovery Networks Sweden channels again in June 2017 (SVT).

Philo’s own words, applied to Sweden

Philo’s rules put the location first — even for free channels

Philo never mentions Sweden, and it does not need to. Its help centre and its terms are written around one country, and three passages answer most of the questions a Swedish reader has.

Where Philo plays

The U.S. and its territories, nowhere else

The help centre: “Philo is only available when accessed from inside the US or its territories.” It goes on: “If you attempt to sign in to Philo from anywhere else in the world, you’ll see an error message and be prevented from watching Philo.” On screen, that error is titled “Philo is only available in the US”.

The free tier

No account, but still a location

Philo’s free channels ask for nothing — “No sign-up needed”, says Philo — and its FAQ adds “No, you can start watching instantly without an account.” They still sit behind the one check Philo applies to everything: where the request comes from.

The terms

A U.S. licence and a U.S. trial

The terms, effective 3 August 2026, license the service “solely in the United States of America and its territories and commonwealths”. On trials they say: “A Trial Offer is offered to new Philo subscribers only in the 50 United States (and its territories)”.

Read in order, those lines settle the sequence for anyone in Sweden: the location comes first. Essential and Bundle+ can only be started from inside the U.S.; the free channels need no account at all, which makes them the cleanest way to see what Philo reads; and nothing sold in Sweden turns into a Philo account.

We quote the licence clause here, and again further down next to what a residential U.S. IP does. A residential U.S. IP changes the location Philo reads, and Philo’s terms are written for the U.S. only. Weigh that before you decide anything.

Who the American feed is actually for

Who in Sweden wants Philo — and who can stop here

Philo is a bundle of American cable networks with a large free tier. In Sweden that narrows the reader down quickly, and for some readers the honest answer is that they need nothing from us.

Already covered

You want TLC, Discovery, ID, HISTORY, MTV or Nickelodeon

If the version on Swedish TV is enough, look at your own line-up first. On a Tele2 group agreement or an Allente package it may already be there, with no U.S. address involved.

No Swedish channel

You follow Hallmark, Lifetime, A&E, BET or WE tv

These are among the twelve Philo networks with no Swedish channel on the lists we read. For a fan of one of them, Philo’s American feed is one way to watch the channel itself, live.

Americans in Sweden

You moved here and miss American live TV

The networks you had at home, on their own schedule. Because Essential and Bundle+ are started from inside the U.S., this suits someone who already holds an account, or who will be in the States to open one.

Back from the U.S.

You studied or worked there

Some people who lived in the States come home attached to one network or one format. The free channels are the low-stakes way to find out whether that habit survives a six-hour time difference.

Free channels only

You are curious, not committed

Philo’s free tier — more than 150 channels by its own count, with names such as Tiny House Nation, Bon Appetit and AMC Thrillers — asks for no account. It is the place to start, and the cleanest test of a connection, because nothing else is involved.

Probably not you

You want American series, not channels

Streaming services sold in Sweden — HBO Max, SkyShowtime, Viaplay, Netflix and Disney+ among them, several inside Telia’s and Tele2’s packages — carry their own catalogues. Search those first; it takes a minute.

Antenna socket, dish, broadband box — none of them carries Philo

How TV reaches a Swedish home, and where Philo would fit

Swedish TV comes into the home in several ways, and the first three below each come with the provider’s own box. Philo arrives another way — as an app or a web page over the internet — and it checks where you are before it shows anything.

How TV comes inWhat the provider saysWhere Philo stands
Through the wall, with the addressTele2’s TV for addresses on a group agreement uses “en vanlig digitalbox som du kopplar in via antennuttaget” — an ordinary digital box in the antenna socket — or its Tv Hub MiniPhilo never comes through the antenna socket; it needs a device on the internet
By satellite dishAllente’s “Kanallista – tv via parabol” applies to boxes such as OnePlace, Allente 1 and HD-box SmartNot via the dish either; a device on your broadband is what Philo needs
Over broadband, with the operator’s boxTelia supplies its own box, the Telia Play Hub; Tele2’s Tv Hub 2 arrives with Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, SVT Play, YouTube and TV4 Play pre-installedNeither box is named on Philo’s device list
Through the TV’s own platform or a streaming devicePhilo names the platforms it supportsSamsung and LG TVs from 2018, Android TV 7.0 or later, Apple TV on OS 18 or later, Chromecast from the 2nd generation, Fire TV, Roku and Vizio

So the useful question in a Swedish home is not which channel number Philo would sit on. It is which device on your broadband can run Philo, and which address that device shows.

Nothing here touches your Swedish TV. The operator’s box keeps doing what it does on your Swedish line; Philo would be a separate service on a separate device.

Stockholm is six hours ahead of New York for most of the year

A Swedish evening, an American afternoon: Philo on Stockholm time

Philo is live television on U.S. clocks. Sweden is on Central European Time, with summer time from the last Sunday in March to the last Sunday in October; the U.S. moves its clocks on other Sundays. The times below come from the IANA time-zone database.

U.S. broadcastStockholm, most of the yearStockholm, 25–31 Oct 2026 and 14–27 Mar 2027
8 p.m. Eastern — New York prime time2 a.m., the next day1 a.m., the next day
11 p.m. Eastern — late night5 a.m.4 a.m.
8 p.m. Pacific — Los Angeles prime time5 a.m.4 a.m.
2 p.m. Eastern — U.S. afternoon8 p.m., the same day7 p.m.
1

Live at a Swedish evening means American daytime

Switch Philo on at 8 p.m. in Stockholm and the live channels are showing what airs at 2 p.m. in New York and 11 a.m. in Los Angeles. Prime time is still six hours away.

2

The DVR is the Swedish viewer’s main tool

Essential comes with a “1-year unlimited DVR”. Let the 2 a.m. broadcast record and watch it at a sensible Swedish hour — the realistic way to follow American evenings from here.

3

A free account records too, within limits

Philo gives free accounts a “30-day DVR (on select titles)”, and the DVR arrives only once the free account exists. With no account at all, there is nothing to record into.

4

Recordings still need a U.S. location

A recording is still Philo, and Philo is only available from inside the U.S. Playing one back from Sweden meets the same location check as a live channel.

5

Twice a year the gap is five hours

Europe and the U.S. change their clocks on different Sundays. In 2026 Europe leaves summer time on 25 October and the U.S. on 1 November; in 2027 the U.S. starts on 14 March and Europe on 28 March. In those weeks everything arrives an hour earlier in Stockholm.

6

Read American dates as Swedish ones

A U.S. listing for Tuesday at 8 p.m. Eastern means early Wednesday in Sweden. An evening finale “on the 14th” reaches Stockholm on the 15th — worth knowing before you open Swedish social media.

This table only translates the clock. What Philo’s networks show, and when, is decided in the U.S.

Philo’s plans since 10 March 2026, in U.S. dollars

What a Philo account involves, and where it can be opened

Philo introduced its current plans on 10 March 2026. What follows is Philo’s own description, with U.S. prices in U.S. dollars. None of it is something USip sells or includes.

TierWhat Philo says it includesWhat it takes
FreeMore than 150 free channels by Philo’s count; with a free account, a “30-day DVR (on select titles)”, saved shows, up to ten profiles and three screens at onceNothing to start — “No sign-up needed” — except a U.S. location
EssentialUS$25 a month: 70+ live channels, a “1-year unlimited DVR” and three streams at onceAn account started from inside the U.S.; new customers get a 7-day free trial, which the terms limit to the 50 states and the territories
Bundle+US$33 a month: “Everything in Essential, plus AMC+, as well as access to HBO Max (Basic with Ads), and discovery+ apps”The same account — and “No free trial is available for the Bundle+ package.”

Sign-up is done by email: Philo sends a link, and the account is confirmed from it. Account holders must be 18 (19 in Alabama and Nebraska, 21 in Mississippi), and the terms allow profiles for “members of your household living at the same address”.

Notice what is not in that picture: anywhere outside the U.S. The plans are sold there, the trial is limited to it, and the licence covers the U.S. and its territories. A residential U.S. IP does not open an account; it changes the address Philo reads when you try, and Philo decides the rest.

Add-ons — AMC+, discovery+, Hallmark+, HBO Max, MGM+, STARZ and others — sit on top of a plan at their own U.S. prices. HBO Max is also sold in Sweden, inside Telia’s and Tele2’s packages; that is the Swedish service, not the U.S. HBO Max access that Bundle+ includes.

Fibre, coax, a city network or 5G — one answer

What a Swedish broadband line shows Philo

Philo reads the public address your request comes from. Every Swedish line hands out a Swedish one, however it reaches you — so a flat in Gothenburg and a house in Norrland get the same answer.

ConnectionHow the provider describes itWhat Philo reads
FibreTelia sells fibre broadband from 100 to 1,000 Mbit/s; Tele2 sells broadband via fibre, with Villafiber for housesA Swedish address
Fibre through a city networkTelia’s guide to “bredband via stadsnät” has its own steps for networks such as Affärsverken, Halmstad, Pite Energi, Umenet and Utsikt, with port instructions for each network’s media converterA Swedish address from your broadband provider
FiberKoax and FiberLANTele2’s router guides name these two connection typesA Swedish address
5G and mobile broadbandTelia sells broadband via 5G and mobile broadband; Tele2 sells mobile broadbandA Swedish address from the mobile network

The practical rule: no Swedish line will look American to Philo, and nothing in your Swedish router changes that. What can change is the route one device takes — which is what a residential U.S. IP is for.

Two Swedish details matter later, for the television. At an address on a group agreement, or on a city network, the router or the media converter may belong to someone else — so the TV gets its settings on the device itself. And USip’s Smart DNS, which televisions use, recognises your home by its public address: change provider on a city network, or have your provider change the address, and you register the new one with USip.

If your line gives devices an IPv6 address as well as the familiar IPv4 one, an address checker shows both. A U.S. result on the IPv4 line says nothing about the IPv6 line; if that one still names a Swedish provider, the Swedish route is open. Make sure the connection covers IPv6 too, or switch IPv6 off on that device for the test.

A U.S. flag is not the same as a U.S. household

Which kind of U.S. connection makes sense from Sweden

Philo’s help page puts the VPN question first in its troubleshooting: the first fix it offers for its location error is “If you are using a VPN on your device, disconnect from it and try again”. That tells you where Philo stands — and why the kind of address matters as much as the country on it.

OptionWhat Philo seesThe catchGood for
Your Swedish lineA Telia, Tele2 or other Swedish addressThe location error, every timeSwedish TV and everything else Swedish
A free VPNServer addresses shared by a crowd of other usersCrowded and inconsistent — and Philo’s own first fix is to switch VPNs offNothing you want to measure
A data-centre VPNAn address from a hosting company’s rangeThe right country on the wrong kind of addressPrivacy on café or hotel Wi-Fi
USip residential U.S. IPAn ordinary home address on a U.S. internet providerIt changes the address only, and Philo can still refuse itOne steady American starting point for a readable test

What a residential U.S. IP changes

  • The address Philo reads — a U.S. household line instead of a Swedish one
  • Consistency — one U.S. address from the free-channel test to the last recording
  • Clarity — a location refusal stops looking like an account problem

When a free channel plays in a clean private window, the address side is done.

What stays exactly as it was

  • Whether you can open a Philo account, and on which plan
  • Philo’s terms, and its freedom to refuse any address
  • Your Swedish TV package, its box and its channel numbers
  • The clock — 2 a.m. in Stockholm stays 2 a.m.

If the free-channel test passes, stop changing the network. Whatever is still wrong belongs to the account, the plan or Philo’s own decisions.

We would rather say this plainly than sell around it. Philo licenses its service “solely in the United States of America and its territories and commonwealths”, and its terms forbid attempts to “circumvent any security, encryption, authentication, digital rights management, or technical features intended to prevent unauthorized use of our Services”. A residential U.S. IP changes the location Philo reads — that is its whole purpose. Read both clauses and decide with them in front of you.

Ten minutes, one laptop, no account

How to test Philo from Sweden without signing up

Philo’s free channels make this test unusually clean. No account, plan or trial is involved, so whatever happens is about the location and nothing else.

1

Use one laptop, and leave the television for later

Make the first attempt in a laptop browser, where the address, the browser’s stored data and Philo’s reply sit side by side. Set the connection up with the Windows guide or the Mac guide. The Android and iOS guides wait for a pass, and the television — set up with USip’s Smart DNS rather than an app — comes last of all.

2

Connect, then check what the world sees

Bring the connection up and open an address checker. The IPv4 line should read United States. If an IPv6 line appears as well, it should show a U.S. address or nothing at all — never Telia, Tele2 or any other Swedish provider. Sort that out before Philo is even open.

3

Open a private window and start a free channel

Go to philo.com in a new private window and start one of the free channels. Philo’s own line for them is “No sign-up needed”, so there is nothing to sign in to — leave accounts for later. Let the channel run for a full minute.

4

Write down exactly what happens

If the channel plays, the address question is answered for now. If Philo shows “Philo is only available in the US”, copy the message as it appears, look for a Swedish IPv6 address and for stored philo.com data, then try once more. A refusal that repeats is an answer too: Philo can turn down any address.

A pass settles the address only. Starting Essential or Bundle+ is a separate step that Philo ties to the U.S., and recording needs at least a free account.

Browser first, phone next, television last

Philo on a Swedish laptop, phone and television

Philo’s device list names platforms, not Swedish operator boxes, so the order matters: a laptop browser first, a phone after it, a television last. The four setup videos were recorded in April 2023, before Philo’s Free, Essential and Bundle+ plans existed. The connection steps in them still apply; Philo’s own screens look different today.

Windows
Windows

Philo on Windows — the cleanest start

Philo supports Windows 10 and 11 in a supported browser, with no app store involved, which is why a Windows laptop goes first. Import your USip OpenVPN profile, connect, and read the address checker before Philo loads. Leave the router your Swedish provider supplied alone for this — Telia’s setup guides cover Asus ZenWiFi models, Tele2’s cover its WiFi Hubs — because the laptop’s own connection is all the test needs. Then open philo.com in a private window: Ctrl+Shift+N in Chrome and Edge, Ctrl+Shift+P in Firefox.

Step by step: the Windows setup guide.

macOS
macOS

Philo on macOS — two settings to look at

Philo lists Macs on macOS Ventura or later, in a supported browser. Two Mac settings can send traffic past the connection you just started. If iCloud Private Relay is on, Safari travels through Apple’s relays instead, so switch it off for the test. And if your Swedish line gives the Mac an IPv6 address, read that line of the checker as well. When one browser plays and the other does not, look at these two settings first.

Step by step: the Mac setup guide.

Android
Android

Philo on Android — phones, not operator boxes

Philo supports Android phones and tablets on Android 7.0 or later, and Fire tablets. Test the phone on the same home Wi-Fi as the laptop, not on mobile data, or you are measuring a different Swedish line. Take the connection app out of battery optimisation: a tunnel Android closes to save power looks just like a refusal. And keep the categories apart — Android TV is on Philo’s list as a platform, while the Telia Play Hub and Tele2’s Tv Hub are not named on it.

Step by step: the Android setup guide.

iPhone and iPad
iPhone and iPad

Philo on iPhone and iPad — the app comes second

Philo supports iPhone and iPad on iOS 18 or later through its iOS app, so an app store becomes part of the setup in a way it never is on a laptop. Get a pass in a laptop browser first, then add the phone with USip’s iOS guide. Switch iCloud Private Relay off if it is on, and check the address in Safari before opening Philo. If the app is not offered to your Apple Account, treat that as a separate question about the account, and settle it on its own rather than mid-test.

Step by step: the iOS setup guide.

A television, streaming stick or console cannot run the OpenVPN Connect app, so USip sets it up with Smart DNS instead — entered in the device’s own network settings or once on the router; the Smart DNS guide covers both. Smart DNS recognises your home by its public IP address: register it with USip first, and again if your provider changes it. In a Swedish apartment block where the router belongs to the building or the network, set it on the TV itself, and use a platform from Philo’s list rather than the operator’s box.

One residential U.S. IP — an ordinary consumer address on a U.S. ISP, not a server range. USip and Philo are separate services: the plans include the connection only — not a Philo account, a Philo plan or add-on, an app-store region or the rights to any channel.

When Philo says no

Philo’s location error, read from a Swedish connection

Philo shows everyone outside the U.S. the same message: “Philo is only available in the US”. Its help page then offers three fixes in order — disconnect a VPN, reboot the device, contact support. Here is what each one means from Sweden, plus three checks of our own.

1

Philo’s first fix: switch the VPN off

Philo’s advice is “If you are using a VPN on your device, disconnect from it and try again”. Followed literally from Sweden, it returns you to a Swedish address and the same message. It is still useful information: it shows plainly where Philo stands on viewers abroad.

2

Philo’s second fix: restart the device

A restart clears an app or browser that is holding on to an old answer. Do it with the U.S. connection already running, so the first thing Philo sees afterwards is the U.S. address.

3

Philo’s third fix: contact support

Keep support for account and device questions. On location, the help page has already given Philo’s answer, and it is the same one for every country outside the U.S.

4

Our check: the IPv6 line

If your line has IPv6, a checker can show a Swedish IPv6 address beside a U.S. IPv4 one. While it does, a Swedish route is still open, whatever the first line says.

5

Our check: stored site data

An earlier visit from a Swedish address may leave its answer behind in the browser’s data for philo.com. Use a private window, or clear the site’s data, before treating a second attempt as a fresh result.

6

Our check: one address all evening

Hopping between U.S. servers makes one household look as if it is moving around America. Choose one connection before you start and keep it until you are done.

None of this makes Philo certain, and we will not pretend it does. It makes a refusal readable, so you can tell whether the address, the device or Philo’s own decision is the reason.

What people in Sweden ask about Philo

Philo in Sweden — FAQ

Answered from Philo’s help centre and terms, Allente’s, Tele2’s and Telia’s own pages, and the IANA time-zone database. When the honest answer is “that is Philo’s decision”, we say so.

Is Philo available in Sweden?

No. Philo is sold in the United States only, and its help centre puts it this way: “Philo is only available when accessed from inside the US or its territories.” From a Swedish connection, Philo stops at the error “Philo is only available in the US”.

Can I watch Philo’s free channels in Sweden without an account?

Not from a Swedish address. The account is not the obstacle — Philo’s own FAQ says “No, you can start watching instantly without an account.” — but the free channels sit behind the same location check as the rest of Philo.

Can I sign up for Philo from Sweden?

No. Essential and Bundle+ are started from inside the U.S., and Philo’s terms say “A Trial Offer is offered to new Philo subscribers only in the 50 United States (and its territories)”. A residential U.S. IP does not open an account; it changes the address Philo reads when you try.

Are TLC, Discovery and HISTORY on Swedish TV?

Yes, as channels distributed in Sweden. Allente’s 2026 lists have TLC HD on 23, Discovery Channel HD on 42 and HISTORY HD on 44, and Tele2 puts TLC in the basic line-up for addresses on a group agreement. They are separate channels from the American networks Philo streams.

Is Hallmark Channel available in Sweden?

Not as a channel on any Swedish list we read. Hallmark is one of twelve networks Philo calls popular with no Swedish channel by that name on Allente’s or Tele2’s lists — the others are A&E, AMC, BET, HGTV, IFC, Lifetime, LMN, OWN, TV One, VH1 and WE tv.

What time is American prime time in Sweden?

8 p.m. Eastern is 2 a.m. in Stockholm for most of the year, and 8 p.m. Pacific is 5 a.m. Between 25 and 31 October 2026, and between 14 and 27 March 2027, both arrive an hour earlier, because Europe and the U.S. change their clocks on different Sundays.

Can I record Philo shows and watch them at a Swedish hour?

That is the job of Philo’s DVR. Essential includes a “1-year unlimited DVR”, and a free account gets a “30-day DVR (on select titles)”. Playing a recording back is still Philo, though, so it meets the same U.S. location check as a live channel.

Will Philo run on my Telia Play Hub or Tele2 Tv Hub?

Philo’s supported-device list names neither box. It names platforms — Samsung and LG TVs from 2018, Android TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, Fire TV, Roku and Vizio — so plan on one of those for Philo and keep the operator’s box for Swedish TV.

Why does Philo think I’m outside the US on Telia or Tele2?

Because your address is Swedish. Philo reads the public address your request comes from, and every Swedish line — fibre, a city network, Tele2’s FiberKoax, 5G broadband — gives out a Swedish one. No router setting changes that.

Philo told me to disconnect my VPN. What does that mean?

It is the first fix on Philo’s help page for its location error: “If you are using a VPN on your device, disconnect from it and try again”. It tells you Philo’s position — it expects its viewers to be in the U.S. A residential U.S. IP is a different kind of address from a data-centre VPN, but Philo can refuse any address, and we will not promise otherwise.

Is it legal to use a VPN in Sweden?

This page is not legal advice, and we have not read a primary Swedish source that settles the question, so we will not guess. Rules on software, copyright and each service’s own terms are separate matters that can change, so check locally if it matters to you. Philo’s terms, with their U.S.-only licence, apply wherever you are.

Does USip include a Philo subscription?

No. USip provides a residential U.S. IP connection and nothing else. The Philo account, the plan, the channels and every decision to play or refuse are Philo’s.

How much does Philo cost?

In the U.S., since 10 March 2026: the free tier costs nothing, Essential is US$25 a month and Bundle+ US$33 a month, with add-ons on top. Those are Philo’s U.S. prices; USip’s plans are separate and include no Philo plan.

Can I use my US Philo account while visiting Sweden?

Philo’s help page answers that directly: “If you attempt to sign in to Philo from anywhere else in the world, you’ll see an error message and be prevented from watching Philo.” A holiday in Sweden counts as anywhere else in the world.

Where to go next

The Philo hub, and seven more country guides

Philo’s rules, plans and error messages are covered in full on the hub. Norway and Denmark keep Stockholm’s clock, so the 2 a.m. problem is the same there; their channel line-ups and networks are their own.

Look at your Swedish line-up, then test one free channel

Start with what is already in the house. If the TLC, Discovery, ID, HISTORY, MTV or Nickelodeon you want is the version on Swedish TV, the line-up that comes with your address or your Allente package may already carry it. If you want the American feed — or one of the twelve networks with no Swedish channel — the free-channel test takes ten minutes and needs no account.

A pass means the address part is settled; plans, sign-up and recordings are Philo’s side, and Philo ties them to the U.S. A refusal gives you Philo’s exact words, which are worth more than any guess, so write them down before you change a setting.

USip supplies the residential U.S. IP connection only. Philo accounts, plans and channel rights are Philo’s, and Philo can refuse any address.
