The standalone service is gone
Showtime’s help site puts it plainly: “The SHOWTIME streaming service is being discontinued”. People who used it on its own kept access “until they are discontinued on April 30, 2024”.
Short answer: Showtime no longer runs a streaming service of its own. In the U.S. its series and films sit inside Paramount+, and Paramount+ has no Swedish edition: its “Paramount+ Regions” page names 28 countries, and Sweden is not one of them (checked 9 October 2026). On the same day neither Paramount+ app, the American one or the international one, was listed in the Swedish App Store.
Here, Showtime-made drama mostly arrives through SkyShowtime, the Comcast and Paramount service that opened in Sweden in September 2022. It began the first season of Dexter: Resurrection in September 2025, and the second is due there on 31 October 2026, a day after its American return. SkyShowtime’s owners announced a strategic review on 14 September 2026; the exact wording is further down.
If it is the American catalogue you want, start small: a laptop browser, a residential US IP from USip, paramountplus.com in a private window and one Showtime episode. Ten minutes shows what Paramount+ does with the connection. That decision is Paramount+’s to make, not USip’s.

Showtime supplies half of SkyShowtime’s name, and every newer Showtime series we could trace in Sweden streams there. A few older ones went elsewhere. This is what we could trace to a dated source on 9 October 2026, and what we could not.
| Series or service | In Sweden | Compared with Showtime in the U.S. |
|---|---|---|
| Dexter: Resurrection | SkyShowtime. Season 1 from 12 September 2025, the date SkyShowtime announced in June 2025; season 2 due on Saturday 31 October 2026 (MovieZine, 24 September 2026) | Listed on the Showtime page of Paramount+; Paramount says season 2 returns there on Friday 30 October 2026 “only on the Premium Plan” |
| Yellowjackets | SkyShowtime. All three earlier seasons were there in October 2025 (MovieZine); SkyShowtime announced the fourth and final season on 16 June 2026, with no Swedish date we could find | A Showtime series in the U.S.; we did not look it up on Paramount+ |
| SkyShowtime’s on-demand channels | Rolled out in Sweden first, from 9 December 2025; Dexter is one of the franchises SkyShowtime named | Paramount+ groups the brand in a Showtime section instead |
| Homeland and Shameless | Netflix: all eight seasons of Homeland (MovieZine, 22 November 2025) and all eleven of Shameless (MovieZine, 24 August 2025) | Both first ran on Showtime in the U.S. |
| SVT Play, TV4 Play, Viaplay, HBO Max | We could not confirm any Showtime-made series on these on 9 October 2026 | Search a title in each app, because licences move between services |
SkyShowtime describes itself today as “A joint venture of Comcast and Paramount, a Skydance Corporation” and names Showtime among the brands it draws on (SkyShowtime, 16 June 2026). Its first season of Dexter: Resurrection began on 12 September 2025. For the second, the Swedish date sits one day after the American one: Paramount gives Friday 30 October 2026 for the U.S., and MovieZine’s October listing for SkyShowtime in Sweden gives Saturday 31 October.
Sweden was also first in line for a new SkyShowtime feature. On 9 December 2025 it announced on-demand channels that “will showcase iconic franchises such as Dexter, Star Trek and Yellowstone”, adding that they were “Set to start rolling out in Sweden from today” and in its other markets the following year.
Before you look further afield, check what you already have. Telia’s TV package pages, read for USip on 6 October 2026, list SkyShowtime among the streaming services some packages include, so a Telia TV customer may already have it.
One caution. On 14 September 2026 SkyShowtime’s board wrote that its shareholders were “commencing a review of strategic options for the business, which includes the possibility of a wind down”, and that “no decisions have been made” (The Desk, 14 September 2026). That is everything that has been said publicly that we could find, and we make no forecast from it.
Same series, different versions. SkyShowtime shows what it has licensed for Sweden, on Swedish dates, and its catalogue can change. Paramount+ in the U.S. is a separate service with its own catalogue and plans. Look a title up in the SkyShowtime app before anything else; that check takes a minute.

If your picture of Showtime comes from an old app or an old article, these six points bring it up to date. Each comes from Paramount’s own pages or from dated reporting.
Showtime’s help site puts it plainly: “The SHOWTIME streaming service is being discontinued”. People who used it on its own kept access “until they are discontinued on April 30, 2024”.
The same page says “SHOWTIME programming is now available through Paramount+”. On paramountplus.com, the American site, a Showtime page lists “Dexter®: Resurrection” among its titles (read 9 October 2026).
On 23 June 2025 the plan called Paramount+ with Showtime was renamed Paramount+ Premium (TheWrap). The old name lives on only as the name of the U.S. cable channel.
Paramount sums up Premium as “Watch hit originals, movies and all of SHOWTIME® ad free”, with live CBS and downloads besides. Its other line reads: “Access SHOWTIME® originals and movies when you sign up for the Premium plan.”
Paramount+ Essential lists “Access SHOWTIME® Originals”, footnoted “Series may not include all episodes”. Paramount says the second season of Dexter: Resurrection is “only on the Premium Plan”.
That day Paramount completed its takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery, and the combined company is called Skydance (Forbes). It owns Paramount+, HBO Max, Pluto TV and the Showtime channel, and through Paramount it is one of SkyShowtime’s two owners.
For a viewer in Sweden, that leaves two different things called Showtime. One is the selection SkyShowtime has licensed for Sweden, on Swedish dates. The other is the Showtime section of Paramount+ in the U.S., on American dates, inside a service that Paramount+ offers only in the regions it lists. A residential US IP concerns only the second, and only the connection side of it.

New episodes on Paramount+ arrive on U.S. dates, and Premium’s live CBS feed runs on U.S. clocks. Stockholm is normally six hours ahead of New York and nine ahead of Los Angeles. For one week this autumn and two weeks next spring the gap is an hour smaller.
| New York | Los Angeles | Stockholm, most weeks | Stockholm, 25–31 Oct 2026 and 14–27 Mar 2027 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Midnight | 9 p.m., the evening before | 6 a.m. | 5 a.m. |
| 6 a.m. | 3 a.m. | Noon | 11 a.m. |
| Noon | 9 a.m. | 6 p.m. | 5 p.m. |
| 3 p.m. | Noon | 9 p.m. | 8 p.m. |
| 8 p.m. | 5 p.m. | 2 a.m., next day | 1 a.m., next day |
| 9 p.m. | 6 p.m. | 3 a.m., next day | 2 a.m., next day |
The week that matters this autumn is 25–31 October. European clocks go back on Sunday 25 October; American clocks follow on Sunday 1 November. In between, Stockholm is five hours ahead of New York rather than six. Paramount’s date for the second season of Dexter: Resurrection, Friday 30 October, falls inside that week, and SkyShowtime’s Swedish date is the Saturday after.
Spring runs the other way. The U.S. moves its clocks forward on 14 March 2027 and Europe follows on 28 March, so from 14 to 27 March the five-hour gap returns for a fortnight.
A U.S. date is not a Swedish date. Paramount+ chooses the hour at which a new episode appears, and whatever hour it picks, the Swedish calendar is already six hours further on. A late American evening is early the next morning here: watching CBS prime time live on Premium, at 8 p.m. in New York, means 2 a.m. in Sweden.
Times computed with Python’s zoneinfo and the IANA time-zone database (version 2026c) for Europe/Stockholm, America/New_York and America/Los_Angeles. They translate the clock only; Paramount+ decides what appears and when.

Paramount+ reads the public IP address a request comes from, and on any Swedish network, fixed or mobile, that address is Swedish. PTS, the Swedish telecoms regulator, counts who supplies those lines. Its report Svensk telekommarknad 2025, published on 25 May 2026, gives the position at the end of 2025.
| Operator | Share of fixed broadband | Share of mobile |
|---|---|---|
| Telia | 29.2% | 30.3% |
| Tele2, including Com Hem | 23.4% | 25.8% |
| Telenor | 14.3% | 20.5% |
| Tre (Hi3G) | Not named in the fixed list | 19.1% |
| Bredband2 | 12.1% | Not named in the mobile list |
| Bahnhof | 8.5% | Not named in the mobile list |
| Allente, Sappa and the rest | 12.5% between them | 4.3% for all others |
PTS counted just over 4.3 million fixed broadband connections at the end of 2025, about 3.6 million of them over fibre. It also notes that once Telia’s acquisition of Bredband2 is complete, Telia will hold 41.3% of fixed broadband.
None of those names changes the answer Paramount+ gets. A Bahnhof fibre line in Uppsala, a Tele2 cable connection in a Malmö flat and Tre’s 5G in a summer cottage all present Swedish addresses, and no router setting alters that. What can change is the route one device takes, which is the job of a residential US IP.
Look out for IPv6. Some lines give each device a newer IPv6 address alongside the familiar IPv4 one, and an address checker then lists both. A U.S. result on the IPv4 line proves nothing about the IPv6 one: if that line still shows a Swedish provider, Paramount+ can see your Swedish connection through it. Make sure the USip connection covers IPv6 as well, or turn IPv6 off on that device while you check.
Flats are a special case for televisions. On a municipal city network (stadsnät) the media converter is the network’s equipment, and Telia’s setup guide gives port instructions for it network by network; on a group agreement (gruppavtal) the connection comes with the building. Either way the router may not be yours to configure, so a TV gets its Smart DNS details on the set itself. And Smart DNS knows your home by its public address: if you switch city-network provider or the address changes, register the new one.

An address checker that says “United States” is the easy part. An IP address also shows which network it belongs to, a home internet provider or a hosting company, and services such as Paramount+ can see that too.
| Option | What Paramount+ sees | The catch | Fits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your Swedish line | Your provider’s Swedish address | Paramount+ does not serve Sweden | SkyShowtime, SVT Play, TV4 Play and the rest of Swedish streaming |
| A free VPN app | A server shared by large numbers of strangers | Busy, unstable and nothing like a household | Very little; it says nothing reliable about Paramount+ |
| A commercial VPN in a data centre | An address registered to a hosting firm | The flag says U.S.; the network says server | Keeping traffic private on public Wi-Fi |
| USip residential U.S. IP | A single consumer address on a U.S. internet provider | It changes only the address, and Paramount+ may still say no | A stable U.S. starting point for the four-step check |
If one Showtime episode plays in a fresh private window, the address side is done.
If something still fails once the address checks out, look at the account, the plan or the device, not at another server.
We would rather say this plainly than leave it to the small print: Paramount+ decides which connections it accepts, and it can refuse any of them, USip’s included. A residential address is the most ordinary kind of U.S. connection there is, but it is not a promise of anything.

Do this once, carefully, before you involve a phone or a television. It answers one question, whether Paramount+ accepts this connection, and keeps everything else out of the way.
Set up the USip connection with the Windows guide or the Mac guide, connect, then open any IP address checker. The IPv4 line must say United States. If an IPv6 line appears, it must not name Telia, Tele2, Telenor, Tre, Bahnhof or any other Swedish provider; if it does, your Swedish connection is still visible.
A private window carries no cookies from earlier visits made on your Swedish line. Go to paramountplus.com and sign in with the Paramount+ account you already use. USip does not provide Paramount+ accounts, and nothing in this check creates one.
Find the Showtime section, pick any episode and let it run for a full minute. While you are there, look at which plan the account shows: Paramount describes Premium as the plan with “all of SHOWTIME®”, while Essential’s Showtime originals carry the note “Series may not include all episodes”.
If the episode plays, the connection side is settled. If Paramount+ shows a message about your location, a VPN or a proxy, write it down word for word. Reconnect once, open a new private window and try one more time. If the message comes back, send its exact wording to USip support rather than trying ten more times.
A good minute settles the address and nothing more: the plan, the catalogue and every decision to play stay with Paramount+. USip lists its own dated checks on a separate page, USip’s published checks. What matters for you is what happens on your own line in Sweden.

USip recorded the four videos below in September 2021, when Showtime still had its own app and website. The connection steps in them still hold. What has changed is the destination: Showtime now opens inside Paramount+, at paramountplus.com or in the Paramount+ app.

Install OpenVPN Connect, import your USip profile and connect before you open a browser. The 2021 video then plays Showtime through its old streaming service, discontinued in 2024; today you open paramountplus.com instead, in a private window (Ctrl+Shift+N in Chrome or Edge, Ctrl+Shift+P in Firefox). If the laptop belongs to an employer and already runs a company VPN, borrow a personal one for this: with two tunnels running it is impossible to know which one Paramount+ saw.
Step by step: the Windows setup guide.

The Mac video shows the same connection steps and ends on Showtime’s old streaming site; go to paramountplus.com instead. Before you start, switch iCloud Private Relay off if it is on, because it sends Safari’s traffic through Apple’s relays. If your Swedish line gives the Mac an IPv6 address, read both lines of the address checker, as in step 1 of the check.
Step by step: the Mac setup guide.

In the 2021 video the Google Play country is switched to the U.S. to install the Showtime app, which closed on 30 April 2024. That step is now out of date. Google Play Help (read 9 October 2026) says “To set up a new country or region, you must be in that location”, and that once a country is set you “must wait at least 90 days” before changing it. Leave your Play country as Sweden.
The connection part still applies: start OpenVPN Connect first and Paramount+ second, and exempt OpenVPN Connect from battery optimisation so Android does not quietly close it. Whether a Paramount+ app is offered to a Swedish Play account we could not check.
Step by step: the Android setup guide.

Neither Paramount+ app was listed in the Swedish App Store when it was checked on 9 October 2026. The video changes the App Store country to reach the Showtime app, which has since closed. Moving an Apple Account to another country or region comes with conditions that Apple sets out on its own support page; read them before you consider it, and only after the laptop check. The OpenVPN Connect steps are the same as ever.
Step by step: the iOS setup guide.
Televisions, streaming sticks and games consoles cannot run OpenVPN Connect, so USip connects them through Smart DNS. Register your home’s public IP address with USip, then enter the DNS details in the device’s network settings, or once on your router. If your provider changes that public address, register the new one.
Operator boxes such as the Telia Play Hub or Tele2’s Tv Hub are built for Swedish TV. Whether a television or stick offers a Paramount+ app in Sweden depends on its own app store, which we did not check, so prove the connection on a laptop before you spend an evening on the TV.

One residential U.S. IP — an ordinary consumer address on a U.S. ISP, not a server range. USip and Paramount+ are separate services: the plans include the connection only — not a Paramount+ subscription, an app-store region or the rights to any title.
Separate services: these prices are for the USip residential U.S. IP service only. Showtime streams inside Paramount+, a separate service; a Paramount+ subscription and access to any particular series or film are not part of a USip plan.
When the App Store was checked on 9 October 2026, the U.S. Paramount+ app was listed only in the U.S. store and the international one only in the UK, Irish and Australian stores. Neither was listed in Sweden. That is a fact about the stores, not about your connection.
Neither app (App Store ids 530168168 and 1340650234) was listed for Sweden on 9 October 2026. Changing an Apple Account’s country or region is possible only under conditions Apple publishes itself. Treat it as a separate decision about your account, not as a step in a check.
We could not check Google Play country by country, so we say nothing either way about Paramount+ in the Swedish Play Store. Google’s rule is that you must be in a country to make it your Play country, and must then wait at least 90 days before changing it again.
paramountplus.com runs in a laptop browser with no store involved. That is why every step on this page starts there, and why phones and televisions come later.

We are not lawyers, and this is not legal advice. Here is what official Swedish sources say, as far as we could find on 9 October 2026, and where they stop.
We have not found a Swedish law that bans VPN software as such.
The nearest official text is about something else: illegal IPTV. A government inquiry, Åtgärder mot illegal ip-tv (SOU 2025:100), handed over in September 2025, proposed that people who use illegal IPTV services could be fined, and suggested the changes take effect on 1 July 2026. It discusses VPNs as a way of hiding which services a user connects to; its proposals are aimed at unlawful services, not at VPN software. We found no government proposal to parliament (proposition) based on it when we searched on 9 October 2026, so we cannot say whether any of it has become law.
Paramount+ is a lawful service, and the inquiry is about unlawful ones. Separately from Swedish law, Paramount+ decides which connections it accepts and can refuse any of them, USip’s included.
If it matters to your situation, ask a Swedish lawyer. If you use an employer’s or a university’s network or laptop, its IT rules apply as well, whatever the law says.
Answered from Paramount’s and SkyShowtime’s own pages, PTS data, Swedish news reports and the IANA time-zone database. Where we do not know, we say so.
Not as a service of its own. Showtime’s standalone streaming service closed on 30 April 2024, and in the U.S. its programmes now stream inside Paramount+, which has no Swedish edition: Sweden is not on the “Paramount+ Regions” page (checked 9 October 2026). Some Showtime-made series reach Sweden through SkyShowtime instead, among them Dexter: Resurrection and Yellowjackets. SkyShowtime picks its own Swedish catalogue and dates, so check a title in its app.
No. Paramount+ lists 28 countries on its “Paramount+ Regions” page: Australia, seven in Europe, Canada, Mexico, the U.S. and 17 in Latin America. Sweden is not one of them (checked 9 October 2026), and on the same day neither Paramount+ app was listed in the Swedish App Store. Paramount+ series reach Sweden through SkyShowtime, which Paramount co-owns with Comcast.
On SkyShowtime. SkyShowtime announced season 1 for 12 September 2025, and MovieZine reported on 24 September 2026 that season 2 premieres there on 31 October 2026. In the U.S., Paramount says season 2 returns to Paramount+ on Friday 30 October “only on the Premium Plan”. Dates and catalogues can change, especially while SkyShowtime’s owners review its future, so check the app nearer the time.
Yes. Showtime’s help site says “The SHOWTIME streaming service is being discontinued”, and standalone users kept access “until they are discontinued on April 30, 2024”. Since then, “SHOWTIME programming is now available through Paramount+”. Any guide, video or app listing that still points to a Showtime app is older than that change, and that includes USip’s own videos from September 2021.
Paramount+ Premium, in full. Paramount’s U.S. plan page describes it as “Watch hit originals, movies and all of SHOWTIME® ad free”. Paramount+ Essential lists “Access SHOWTIME® Originals”, with the footnote “Series may not include all episodes”, and Paramount says season 2 of Dexter: Resurrection is “only on the Premium Plan”. Premium is the plan that was called Paramount+ with Showtime until it was renamed on 23 June 2025.
No decision has been announced. On 14 September 2026 SkyShowtime’s board wrote that its shareholders were “commencing a review of strategic options for the business, which includes the possibility of a wind down”, and that “no decisions have been made” (The Desk). That is all we could find said in public, and we make no forecast. In the meantime SkyShowtime’s October 2026 line-up for Sweden includes Dexter: Resurrection (MovieZine, 24 September 2026).
Both first ran on Showtime in the U.S., but in Sweden they turned up on Netflix: MovieZine reported all eight seasons of Homeland there on 22 November 2025, and all eleven seasons of Shameless on 24 August 2025. We did not check Netflix’s Swedish catalogue ourselves on 9 October 2026, and licences move, so search the title in the app first.
No. USip supplies one residential U.S. IP address, used through the OpenVPN Connect app or Smart DNS, and nothing more. A Paramount+ account, its plan and access to any Showtime title belong to Paramount+, which decides which connections it accepts. USip has no link to SkyShowtime either; a SkyShowtime account keeps working on your Swedish line as before.
For SkyShowtime, use its own app on your television if the TV offers one. For the U.S. Paramount+, a television, stick or console cannot run OpenVPN Connect, so USip uses Smart DNS: register your home’s public IP address with USip, then enter the DNS details on the device or the router. Whether the TV’s app store offers Paramount+ in Sweden we did not check, so prove the connection on a laptop first.
We have not found a Swedish law that bans VPN software as such, but we are not lawyers and this is not legal advice. A 2025 government inquiry, SOU 2025:100, proposed fines for people who use illegal IPTV services; it concerns unlawful services, not VPN software, and we could not confirm that it has become law. Paramount+ decides separately which connections it accepts.
On a U.S. date, and Stockholm runs ahead of it. For most of the year Stockholm is six hours ahead of New York and nine ahead of Los Angeles, so 8 p.m. in New York is 2 a.m. here. The gap narrows to five hours from 25 to 31 October 2026 and from 14 to 27 March 2027, the weeks when only one side of the Atlantic has changed its clocks.
Because the address it sees belongs to a Swedish provider. Every public IP address is registered to a network, and Telia, Tele2, Telenor, Tre and Bahnhof all hand out addresses registered in Sweden. Router settings do not change that. If a checker shows a U.S. IPv4 address but a Swedish IPv6 one, the Swedish route is still open; close it before you try again.
Copy the message exactly as it appears. Reconnect once, open a new private window and try one more time. If the same message returns, send the wording to USip support and stop there. Ten more attempts will not change Paramount+’s answer, and they make the result harder to read. Paramount+ can refuse any connection, and we will not pretend otherwise.

The hub explains Showtime’s move into Paramount+ in full. Norway and Denmark share SkyShowtime and Stockholm’s clock, so their guides are the closest to this one; the other countries have local routes of their own.
The main pages behind this guide, each read on 9 October 2026. Swedish news reports, mostly MovieZine, are named and dated in the text where they are used.
If the Showtime series you want is Dexter: Resurrection or Yellowjackets, look in SkyShowtime before anything else: it is where both have streamed in Sweden, on Swedish dates, with nothing to set up. Keep an eye on its owners’ review, which had reached no decision when we wrote this.
If you want the U.S. Paramount+ catalogue, run the ten-minute check on a laptop with a residential US IP and the Paramount+ account you already use. A clean result settles the address. The plan, the catalogue and the decision to play remain with Paramount+.
USip supplies the residential U.S. IP connection only. Paramount+ accounts and plans, SkyShowtime, app-store countries and questions of Swedish law are outside it.
