Pluto channels sit inside 10 here. Pluto TV’s own app and U.S. line-up do not.

How to Watch Pluto TV in Australia

Short answer: Pluto TV runs no service of its own in Australia, and when we checked on 6 October 2026 its app was not in the Australian App Store. What Australia does have is a set of Pluto-branded channels from a local broadcaster: since 31 August 2023 they have been part of Network 10’s streaming service, which is now simply called 10.

Those channels are not the U.S. Pluto TV service. They were chosen for Australian viewers, they play only in the 10 app and at 10.com.au/live, and 10 says they work only from inside Australia. The American service is bigger — its welcome page says “Watch 250+ channels of free TV and 1000s of on-demand movies and TV shows.” — and it carries the U.S. line-up. Paramount+, Samsung TV Plus, LG Channels, Tubi and the broadcasters’ own free players already cover some of the same ground here.

If it is the American line-up you want, the first check takes about ten minutes and no account: a laptop, a residential U.S. IP, and pluto.tv in a private browser window. Know Pluto TV’s rule before you start: “Since we can’t determine the exact purpose or use for a VPN or proxy, we need to block any use of them.” It can refuse any address, ours included.

Pluto on 10 and Pluto TV in the U.S. are two different things

Two things carry the Pluto name in Australia, and only one of them is actually here. 10’s Pluto channels are an Australian product with an Australian line-up; Pluto TV’s U.S. service is separate and larger. We read both sides on 6 October 2026.

ACMA’s 2025 survey shows how ordinary free streaming already is here. In a given week, 44% of Australian adults used free-to-air catch-up and streaming services, and over six months 20% had used a free ad-supported channel service: Samsung TV Plus most of all (10%), then Tubi (8%) and Plex (4%). FAST, short for free ad-supported streaming television, is the industry’s name for the kind of service Pluto TV is.

So the first question is not about addresses at all. If the show or channel you want is on one of these services, watch it there: the schedule is Australian, nothing of ours is involved, and no rule of Pluto TV’s comes into it. A U.S. address adds something only when what you want is the American line-up itself.

When the channels arrived in 2023, Pluto TV’s international general manager, Olivier Jollet, called them “our first step to engage with Australian audiences”. We found no later announcement of a standalone Australian Pluto TV app.

Line-ups change. The channels Paramount ANZ named at launch in August 2023 — SOUTH PARK, MTV REALITY, MTV THE SHORES, NICK CLASSICS, NICK TOONS, I LOVE LUCY, HAPPY DAYS and DYNASTY among them — are a dated snapshot, not today’s list. Open Live TV in the 10 app to see what is there now. 10 also notes that, because of digital content rights, not everything shown live comes back as catch-up.

Pluto TV’s own wording, quoted

What Pluto TV and 10 each say about where they can be watched

Both help centres are short and direct. Here are their own words, with what each line means for someone watching from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Perth.

Pluto TV · the message

A screen that asks you to switch off a VPN

Pluto TV’s help article says the screen means “we’ve detected that your device is connected to a VPN, proxy service, or other software that may reroute your internet traffic outside your current region”. Its advice: “Please disable these services on your device to stream videos.”

Pluto TV · the reason

Every VPN or proxy it detects is blocked

“Since we can’t determine the exact purpose or use for a VPN or proxy, we need to block any use of them.” Pluto TV does not weigh why you use one. If it identifies a connection as a VPN or proxy, it refuses it, whoever supplies the address.

Pluto TV · devices

Apps for devices “available in your region”

Pluto TV’s device list carries that condition, plus a separate list headed “Available only in the United States”: Google Chromecast, Comcast and Cox X1 boxes, Hisense Vidaa + App, PlayStation 4 and 5, Sony TVs, TiVo, and Vizio SmartCast and WatchFree+.

10 · the border

10’s Pluto channels are for Australia only

“Please be aware that 10 offers fast channels powered by PlutoTV, and it is exclusively accessible within Australia.” And for anyone overseas: “Regrettably, attempting to access 10 outside of Australia may result in an error message.” 10 writes PlutoTV as one word.

10 · where

The 10 app and 10.com.au, not the TV guide

“Please be aware that Pluto fast channels are exclusively accessible through the 10 app and webpage.” They sit under Live TV. Search your television’s own guide and they are missing, as 10 says: “If you’re trying to find these channels via the Broadcast TV guide, you’ll notice they are not available there.”

Pluto TV · error 3304

An ad blocker can stop the stream

Pluto TV’s list of error codes, dated 17 September 2026, says of 3304: “This error typically refers to a connectivity or ad blocker issue”. Its fix is to turn the ad blocker off. A free service funded by adverts expects to show them.

Set side by side, the two help centres draw the same kind of line from opposite ends. 10 keeps its Pluto channels inside Australia. Pluto TV’s American service, for its part, offers apps for devices in its own region and blocks the VPNs and proxies it detects. Neither help centre mentions any exception to its own border.

What that means in practice: watch 10’s Pluto channels on your normal Australian connection, with nothing else switched on. Only Pluto TV’s American service needs a U.S. address, and even then Pluto TV has the last word.

Free with adverts, account optional

Pluto TV in the U.S.: free, carried by adverts, and no account needed to watch

Pluto TV is not like most American streaming services. There is nothing to set up before you press play, and nothing to renew or cancel afterwards. Its welcome page puts it in four words: “Drop in. It’s free.”

What you want to doWithout an accountWith a free account
Watch live channelsYes, from more than 250 channels by Pluto TV’s countYes
Watch films and series on demandYes: “Explore 1000s of on-demand movies to full seasons of binge-worthy shows.”Yes
Keep a Watch ListYes, on that device only: “no free account is needed to use it”Yes
A personalised experience and a kid-friendly spaceNoYes, by Pluto TV’s welcome page
Closed captionsYes, on every device, by Pluto TV’s features pageYes

The free account is an extra, and Pluto TV describes it that way: “Sign up to enjoy a personalized experience, a kid-friendly space, the latest updates and more.” Its sign-up form asks for your name, date of birth, gender and a ZIP code, which is the American postcode.

You do not need any of that to watch, so our advice from Australia is simple: skip the account. Never fill in a form with details that are not yours. If you later want the extras, that is between you and Pluto TV, and it has nothing to do with the connection.

Opposite seasons, four clock changes a year

Sydney runs 14 to 16 hours ahead of New York, depending on the season

Pluto TV’s live channels run on an American schedule; its on-demand films and series do not. Australia and the United States change their clocks in opposite seasons, so the gap between Sydney and New York moves between 14 and 16 hours over the year.

2026Sydney ahead of New YorkSydney ahead of Los Angeles8 p.m. in New York is, in Sydney7 p.m. in Sydney is, in New York
1 January – 7 March16 hours19 hoursNoon the next day3 a.m. the same day
8 March – 4 April15 hours18 hours11 a.m. the next day4 a.m. the same day
5 April – 3 October14 hours17 hours10 a.m. the next day5 a.m. the same day
4 October – 31 October15 hours18 hours11 a.m. the next day4 a.m. the same day
1 November – 31 December16 hours19 hoursNoon the next day3 a.m. the same day

Both sides move. The U.S. put its clocks forward on 8 March 2026 and puts them back on 1 November. New South Wales, Victoria, the ACT, Tasmania and South Australia ended daylight saving on 5 April and started it again on 4 October. That is why the gap changes four times a year in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Hobart and Adelaide.

Queensland, the Northern Territory and Western Australia keep one clock all year, so only the American change counts there. 8 p.m. in New York is 10 a.m. in Brisbane while the U.S. is on summer time (8 March to 1 November 2026) and 11 a.m. the rest of the year; in Perth it is 8 a.m. or 9 a.m. Los Angeles stays three hours behind New York all year, so West Coast prime time reaches Sydney between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. the next day.

In practice, an Australian evening lines up with the American small hours. At 7 p.m. in Sydney it is between 3 and 5 a.m. in New York and between midnight and 2 a.m. in Los Angeles, so a live channel shows whatever its schedule has for that hour. On-demand titles ignore the clock entirely.

Times computed with the IANA time-zone database (version 2026c) for Australia/Sydney, Australia/Brisbane, Australia/Perth, America/New_York and America/Los_Angeles. Each change takes effect in the early hours of the date shown, local time.

Telstra, TPG, Optus, Aussie Broadband: the same answer

What an Australian connection tells Pluto TV

An ordinary home or mobile service in Australia gives your device an Australian public address, and that address is the first thing a website reads when it decides where you are. Your provider changes your speed and your router, not that answer.

How you connectWho supplies itWhat Pluto TV is likely to see
NBN broadband at home8.84 million NBN home services in March 2026: Telstra 35.6%, TPG 17.5%, Optus 12.3%, Vocus 10.0%, Aussie Broadband 9.1%, Superloop 8.0%, others 7.5% (ACCC counts)An Australian address
Mobile data and hotspotsAustralia’s three national mobile networks: Telstra, Optus and TPG Telecom, which runs the Vodafone brandAn Australian address, on a phone and a mobile router alike
Office, university and hotel Wi-FiEmployers, universities and hotelsAn Australian address, often behind the owner’s own rules on tunnels
Any of the above with USip connectedOne residential U.S. address, from a U.S. internet providerA U.S. household connection, which Pluto TV can still refuse

Speed is rarely the weak point. In the same ACCC report, about 3.76 million of those 8.84 million services, or 42.5%, sat on speed tiers of 100 Mbps or more. Pluto TV’s own troubleshooting advice values a steady connection over a fast one, and from Australia the stretch that matters is the long route across the Pacific. Measure speed with the U.S. connection running, not without it.

The other direction matters just as much. 10’s Pluto channels need your Australian address. With the U.S. connection on, 10 is likely to read you as being outside Australia, where it warns of an error message, so switch USip off before you open 10 and back on for pluto.tv.

The shares are our arithmetic from the ACCC’s service counts for the March quarter of 2026, published on 7 July 2026, the newest report we found. They are wholesale counts, so some retail brands sit inside those totals instead of appearing by name. The report covers the NBN only; for mobile we name the networks, not their shares.

The kind of address matters, not only its country

Four ways to reach pluto.tv from Australia, side by side

Plenty of tools can make an address checker say United States. Pluto TV’s VPN article shows what it makes of most of them. What differs is the kind of address behind the country name, and how many strangers share it with you.

USip residential U.S. IPOne ordinary consumer address on a U.S. internet providerChanges the address and nothing else; Pluto TV can still refuse itOne steady U.S. address and a result you can read

What the U.S. address changes

  • The public address Pluto TV reads: a U.S. household line in place of an Australian one
  • Consistency: the same address from the first channel to the last title
  • Clarity: one fixed answer to the address question, so a refusal is easier to read

If a live channel and an on-demand title both play in a clean private window, the address side is done.

What stays exactly as it was

  • Pluto TV’s rule on VPNs and proxies, and its freedom to refuse any address, USip’s included
  • The country on your Apple Account or Google account, and so the app store you see
  • Which channels Pluto TV carries on any given day
  • Australian law, and 10’s rule that its Pluto channels are for viewers in Australia

For 10, the right connection is your ordinary Australian line, with the U.S. connection switched off.

One laptop, one private window, about ten minutes

Checking pluto.tv from Australia in four steps

This check needs no account, no app store and nothing installed except the connection. Because Pluto TV is free, whatever appears on screen is about the address and nothing else.

1

Connect the laptop and read an address checker

Start on a Windows or Mac laptop on your home line; the Windows guide and the Mac guide cover the setup. With USip connected, open any address checker. The IPv4 line must show a U.S. address. If an IPv6 line appears as well, it must not name Telstra, TPG, Optus, Aussie Broadband or whoever supplies your line; if it does, part of your traffic still leaves through Australia.

2

Open pluto.tv in a fresh private window

A private window starts without old cookies, so nothing from an earlier visit decides the outcome: Ctrl+Shift+N in Chrome and Edge, Ctrl+Shift+P in Firefox. Turn the ad blocker off for this site, since Pluto TV links error 3304 to ad blockers. Do not sign in or create an account; none is needed to watch.

3

Play a live channel, then an on-demand title

Give each one a full minute. The live channel shows whether a stream starts at all; the on-demand title shows whether the library opens to you too. Note what you get each time: a picture, an advert or a message.

4

Read the outcome in Pluto TV’s own words

If both play, Pluto TV has accepted the address for now. If the VPN or proxy message appears, Pluto TV has identified the connection as one of those, and its rule is to block them all. Go back to step 1, close the private window, open a new one and try once more: once, not ten times. More attempts add nothing the second one did not tell you.

USip’s test log has two Pluto TV entries, and neither was run from Australia. From Denmark on 17 September 2026, a Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Gen 4 (Windows 11 25H2, OpenVPN Connect 3.7, Chrome 152) played the Pluto TV Star Trek channel for 15 minutes with the U.S. catalogue showing. From Sweden on 7 September 2026, a Google Pixel 8 (Android 16, OpenVPN Connect 3.6, Pluto TV app 5.48) played CSI: Miami season 1, episode 1 on demand for 12 minutes, also with the U.S. catalogue.

Both results belong to their own dates and places; from Australia, your own check is the evidence that counts. The full entries are in the USip test log.

Laptop first, phone second, television last

Pluto TV on each device in Australia

Prove the address on a laptop, where you can see everything at once, and only then try a phone or a television. The four videos were recorded in September 2022: the USip connection steps in them still apply, while Pluto TV’s screens and Apple’s and Google’s store rules have changed since.

Windows
Windows

Windows: a browser and nothing else

The Windows video opens pluto.tv in a browser, and that is still the simplest route from Australia. No app store is involved, so only the connection and the browser can go wrong. Install OpenVPN Connect, import your USip profile, connect, and read the address checker before Pluto TV is even open. Pluto TV’s troubleshooting page recommends Chrome or Firefox on a computer. Use your own laptop rather than a work one: an employer’s network or a second tunnel makes any result hard to read.

Step by step: the Windows setup guide.

macOS
macOS

macOS: the same browser route

The Mac video follows the same path, OpenVPN Connect first and pluto.tv in a browser second, and it still holds. If Safari and Chrome disagree, run the address checker in each: a browser that shows an Australian line is not using the U.S. connection. A private window is Shift+Command+N in Safari and Chrome, or Shift+Command+P in Firefox.

Step by step: the Mac setup guide.

Android
Android

Android: leave out the store step

The Android video changes the phone’s Google Play country, and that step no longer fits from Australia: Google now requires you to be in a country to make it your Play country, with at least 90 days between changes. We could not check whether Google Play offers the Pluto TV app here. If the app is already on your phone, connect OpenVPN Connect first and open Pluto TV second.

The one logged Android result came from Sweden on 7 September 2026, where Pluto TV runs its own service, so it says nothing about what an Australian phone will show.

Step by step: the Android setup guide.

iPhone and iPad
iPhone and iPad

iPhone and iPad: read Apple’s conditions, not the video

The iPhone video changes the App Store country, and that is the part to skip. Pluto TV’s app was not in the Australian App Store on 6 October 2026, and an Australian Apple Account sees the Australian store wherever the connection points. Moving the account is Apple’s process, with Apple’s own conditions, set out under App stores below. Decide it separately, after a laptop has given you a clear answer.

Step by step: the iOS setup guide.

A television, streaming stick or games console cannot run OpenVPN Connect, so USip sets these up with Smart DNS: register your home’s public IP address with USip, then enter the DNS details in the device’s network settings or once on the router. If your provider changes that public address, register the new one. The Smart DNS guide has the steps. A change on the router reaches every device in the house, so open 10 on the TV afterwards and check that your Australian channels still play.

Pluto TV offers its TV apps, for Samsung, LG, Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV, Roku and others, only for devices “available in your region”, and we could not check what a TV’s own store offers in Australia. Its U.S.-only hardware, such as Chromecast, PlayStation and Vizio, matters only if you own one. Samsung and LG smart TVs sold here already carry Samsung TV Plus or LG Channels.

App stores follow your account, not your connection

The Pluto TV app and Australian app stores

Apps come from stores, and stores follow the country on your account. Here is what we could and could not check on 6 October 2026, and what Apple and Google themselves require.

App Store · Australia

Not listed when we checked

We looked on 6 October 2026. The stores that list it are the U.S., the UK, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Norway and Denmark, all places where Pluto TV runs its own service. Australia and New Zealand were both without it.

Google Play

Not checked

We could not see Google Play country by country. It shows the store for your Google account’s country, so if the app is missing on an Australian phone, the account setting is the reason, not the connection.

Apple’s conditions

Moving an Apple Account is a big step

Apple’s page, dated 5 October 2026, asks you to spend any remaining balance, end memberships that block the change and wait for them to run out, then redownload your apps. Some content may not be available in the new country.

Google’s conditions

You must be in the country

Google sets up a new Play country only for someone who is in that country, then makes you wait at least 90 days before the next change. From Sydney, that rules out the store switch shown in USip’s 2022 Android video.

The web player

pluto.tv needs no store at all

Pluto TV plays in a desktop browser with no download, so the laptop check involves neither Apple nor Google. That is why every check on this page starts there.

Australian rules and Pluto TV’s, side by side

VPN software, Australian law and Pluto TV’s own rule

Two questions often get mixed up. One is whether Australian law allows VPN software. The other is what Pluto TV allows on its service. Australian government pages answer the first; only Pluto TV can answer the second.

eSafety Commissioner

“Using a VPN is legal in Australia.”

That line comes from Be Connected, an eSafety Commissioner learning site, in its module on what a VPN can do for you. It is about the software, not every use of it, and the same tip reminds travellers to follow the local laws of other countries.

Australian Cyber Security Centre

Advised on public Wi-Fi

The government’s cyber-security agency goes further: if you use public Wi-Fi hotspots often, it advises installing a reputable VPN on your device (page last updated April 2023). Official advice treats a VPN as an ordinary security tool.

Pluto TV

Every VPN or proxy it detects is blocked

Pluto TV’s rule applies here as everywhere: switch these services off, or be blocked when it detects them. A residential U.S. IP is a different kind of address from a VPN server, but it still changes where you appear to be, and Pluto TV can still refuse it.

10

Its Pluto channels stay inside Australia

10 draws the opposite border: its Pluto channels are “exclusively accessible within Australia”. Watching them at home on your normal line raises no question at all.

We are not lawyers, and this is not legal advice. We have not found an Australian law that bans VPN software as such, and two government sources treat it as lawful and useful. What you reach through one is a separate matter: copyright, a service’s own rules and an employer’s or university’s network policy each have their own say. If one of those matters in your situation, ask someone qualified in Australia.

Questions from Australia, answered from the pages we read

Pluto TV in Australia — FAQ

Answered from Pluto TV’s and 10’s own pages, ACCC and ACMA figures and government guidance. Where we could not check something, the answer says so.

Is Pluto TV available in Australia?

In one form only. Pluto TV runs no service of its own here, and its app was not in the Australian App Store when we checked on 6 October 2026. What Australia has is a set of Pluto-branded channels inside 10, launched on 31 August 2023. In 10’s words: “Please be aware that 10 offers fast channels powered by PlutoTV, and it is exclusively accessible within Australia.” The U.S. service, with its American line-up, is separate.

Are the Pluto TV channels on 10 the same as Pluto TV in the U.S.?

No. 10’s channels were picked for Australia: more than 50 at launch, in 14 categories by July 2025, playing only in the 10 app and at 10.com.au/live. Pluto TV’s U.S. service counts more than 250 channels plus an on-demand library, chosen for American viewers. Some names may turn up in both, but they are separate line-ups, offered in separate places.

Is Pluto TV free in Australia?

Yes, in both forms, with adverts. 10 describes its Pluto channels as “available for free, all backed by ad-supported streaming”, and Pluto TV’s U.S. welcome page begins “Drop in. It’s free.” USip is a separate service that supplies a residential U.S. IP connection; it does not include Pluto TV, and Pluto TV does not include it.

Do I need an account to watch Pluto TV?

Not for the U.S. service. Pluto TV offers a free account as an extra (“Sign up to enjoy a personalized experience, a kid-friendly space, the latest updates and more.”), and its Watch List works without one, on the device where you made it. The sign-up form asks for a U.S. ZIP code among other details. You do not need an account to watch, so from Australia the simplest choice is to skip it.

Where are the Pluto channels in the 10 app?

Under Live TV, in the 10 app or at 10.com.au/live. 10 says the first four channels there are its on-air ones, 10, 10 Comedy, 10 Drama and Nickelodeon, and its Pluto channels are spread across 14 categories. They are not in your TV’s broadcast guide. Paramount ANZ announced on 30 June 2025 that 10 Play would become simply 10, so older articles still use the old name.

Can I watch 10’s Pluto channels when I travel overseas?

Probably not. 10’s help centre says: “Regrettably, attempting to access 10 outside of Australia may result in an error message.” Its Pluto channels are for viewers in Australia. USip supplies U.S. addresses, not Australian ones, so it cannot help with that. At home the U.S. connection works against you here too: with it on, 10 is likely to read you as being outside Australia, so switch it off before you open 10.

Why does Pluto TV tell me to disable my VPN?

Because it has identified your connection as a VPN, a proxy or similar software. Its help article says the message means “we’ve detected that your device is connected to a VPN, proxy service, or other software that may reroute your internet traffic outside your current region”, and it blocks every one it detects. A residential U.S. IP is a different kind of address, but Pluto TV can still treat it that way and refuse it.

Can I download the Pluto TV app in Australia?

Not from the Australian App Store: it was not listed there on 6 October 2026, while the U.S., UK and Canadian stores had it. We could not check Google Play by country. Store listings follow your account’s country, not your connection, and changing that country is Apple’s or Google’s process, under their conditions; Google requires you to be in the new country. In a laptop browser, pluto.tv needs no app at all.

Can I watch Pluto TV on my Samsung or LG TV in Australia?

Your TV already has its maker’s free channel service, Samsung TV Plus or LG Channels, and 10’s Pluto channels are in the 10 app. For the U.S. service, Pluto TV offers apps only for devices “available in your region”, and we could not check what Samsung’s or LG’s Australian stores show. A TV cannot run OpenVPN Connect either, so USip uses Smart DNS there; start with a laptop.

Is it legal to use a VPN in Australia?

The eSafety Commissioner’s Be Connected guide says: “Using a VPN is legal in Australia.” The Australian Cyber Security Centre even advises one for people who use public Wi-Fi often. That covers the software, not every use of it, and it does not change Pluto TV’s rule, which blocks the VPNs and proxies it detects. We are not lawyers; if your situation is unusual, ask someone qualified.

What time is U.S. prime time in Sydney?

Between 4 October and 31 October 2026, 8 p.m. in New York is 11 a.m. the next day in Sydney, and 8 p.m. in Los Angeles is 2 p.m. From 1 November the gap grows by an hour, so New York’s 8 p.m. arrives at noon. Brisbane is an hour behind Sydney over the summer and Perth three hours. Pluto TV’s on-demand titles are not tied to any of this.

Does USip include Pluto TV or a Pluto TV account?

No. USip and Pluto TV are separate services. USip provides one residential U.S. IP address for your connection. Pluto TV is free with adverts, needs no account to watch, and decides for itself what it shows and to whom. It can refuse any address, USip’s included, and nothing USip offers changes 10’s rule that its Pluto channels are for Australia.

Where to go next

The Pluto TV hub, and the guides for seven other countries

Pluto TV’s rules, error messages and the order of checks are covered in full on the hub. The other seven guides apply them to Ireland, Singapore, the Netherlands, Israel, Qatar, Belgium and Finland, none of which has a local Pluto TV service.

Pluto TV in seven other countries

Look in the 10 app first, then check the American side

For anyone in Australia, the order is simple. Start with what is already here: 10’s Pluto channels on your normal connection, Nickelodeon on free-to-air, Paramount+, Samsung TV Plus, LG Channels, Tubi and the broadcasters’ free players. If what you want is there, you need nothing from us.

If it is Pluto TV’s American line-up you are after, one laptop, one private window and a minute each of a live channel and an on-demand title will show where you stand, with no account and no app store involved. Pluto TV blocks the VPNs and proxies it detects and can refuse any address, ours included. A residential U.S. IP changes the address it reads, and nothing else.

USip supplies the residential U.S. IP connection only. Pluto TV’s channels and decisions belong to Pluto TV, and 10’s Pluto channels belong to 10, for viewers in Australia.
