In Denmark, Showtime’s series come through SkyShowtime, including inside TV 2 Play

How to Watch Showtime in Denmark

Short answer: Denmark has no Showtime service, and since 30 April 2024 there has been no standalone Showtime service anywhere; its series stream inside Paramount+ now. Paramount+ does not serve Denmark either. Its “Paramount+ Regions” page names 28 countries without Denmark, and on 9 October 2026 neither of its apps could be found in the Danish App Store.

The Danish route to Showtime-made drama is SkyShowtime, which took over from Paramount+ in the Nordics on 20 September 2022. TV 2 Play offers it as an add-on, and TV 2’s own title pages put Dexter: Resurrection and Yellowjackets behind the label “Kræver SkyShowtime”. YouSee Play and Norlys offer SkyShowtime too. In September 2026 SkyShowtime’s owners began a review of the business; their wording is quoted below, without guesses.

For anything that exists only in the U.S. catalogue, the first check is small: one laptop, the USip residential U.S. IP, paramountplus.com in a private window, your own Paramount+ account and a single Showtime episode played for a minute. Paramount+ alone decides whether to accept that connection, and it can refuse any, ours too, so the check exists to find out rather than to promise.

Where Danish viewers find Showtime-made series

Showtime has no Danish storefront. Its series reach Denmark through SkyShowtime, which you can take on its own or add through a Danish TV provider; TV 2 Play shows most clearly how that works.

Series or serviceIn DenmarkSet against U.S. Showtime
Dexter: ResurrectionOn TV 2 Play with the SkyShowtime add-on. The page lists season 1 as eight episodes dated 12 September to 24 October 2025 and announces “Ny sæson 31. oktober”Listed on Paramount+’s own Showtime page in the U.S.
YellowjacketsThree seasons on TV 2 Play, marked “Kræver SkyShowtime”. SkyShowtime named it among its “SHOWTIME® originals” when it launched in 2022Part of Paramount+ in the U.S.
Dexter, the original seriesNamed on TV 2 Play’s SkyShowtime page. Viaplay has a Dexter page too, but we could not confirm that it streams there nowPresented by Paramount+ as a Showtime original
SkyShowtimeIn Denmark since 20 September 2022, when it replaced Paramount+ in the Nordics. Offered directly and through TV 2 Play, YouSee Play and NorlysA European selection picked title by title, not the whole U.S. catalogue
Paramount+Absent from the “Paramount+ Regions” page; on 9 October 2026 the Danish App Store had no Paramount+ app of either kindWhere the full U.S. catalogue sits; Premium is described as “all of SHOWTIME®”
DR, HBO Max and ViaplayWe could not confirm a Showtime-made series streaming on their Danish servicesNothing we could source

TV 2’s help pages tell the history in one phrase: SkyShowtime is “det nye hjem for mange af Paramount+-favoritterne”, the new home for many Paramount+ favourites, and TV 2’s list of the studios it brings together includes Showtime (help article updated 21 September 2026). For a TV 2 Play customer that means an add-on to the existing subscription, watched in the same TV 2 Play app.

Catalogues move. A title on TV 2 Play this week can be gone next month, and SkyShowtime decides market by market what it shows and when. Search TV 2 Play, YouSee Play or Norlys before setting up anything American: a Showtime series already in your Danish package needs no U.S. connection at all.

One development to keep in view. In a letter disclosed on 14 September 2026, SkyShowtime’s board said the shareholders were “commencing a review of strategic options for the business, which includes the possibility of a wind down”, adding that “no decisions have been made” (The Desk, 14 September 2026; advanced-television, 15 September 2026). We quote it as written and do not speculate about what it means for Danish viewers.

From a separate app to a Paramount+ plan

Where Showtime itself stands in October 2026

Many Danish viewers know Showtime through its series rather than its app. For anyone who did use the app, here is what changed, in Paramount’s and Showtime’s own wording.

Closed

No more standalone service

Showtime’s help centre said “The SHOWTIME streaming service is being discontinued”, and standalone accounts ran “until they are discontinued on April 30, 2024”. Its pointer ever since: “SHOWTIME programming is now available through Paramount+”.

Renamed

Premium is the new name

On 23 June 2025 the “Paramount+ with Showtime” plan took the name Paramount+ Premium (TheWrap). The longer name now survives only on the American cable and satellite channel.

Two plans

Premium and Essential

Premium: “Watch hit originals, movies and all of SHOWTIME® ad free”. Essential: “Access SHOWTIME® Originals”, footnoted “Series may not include all episodes”. The plan an account is on decides how much Showtime it shows.

Ownership moved again this month. Paramount’s takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery was completed on 6 October 2026, and the merged company is called Skydance (Forbes); paramountplus.com now signs off with “Paramount+ © 2026 Skydance”. No date has been set for combining any of its streaming services, and we will not guess at one.

Two consequences follow for Denmark. Showtime and SkyShowtime are not the same thing: one is a U.S. brand inside Paramount+, the other a European service that carries some of its series. And Paramount+ itself is still absent here. The “Paramount+ Regions” page lists Australia, seven European countries, Canada, Mexico, the U.S. and seventeen Latin American countries; Denmark does not appear on it (checked 9 October 2026).

A residential U.S. IP does not alter any of that. It gives paramountplus.com a U.S. household address to look at; the account, the plan and the decision to stream stay with Paramount+.

Copenhagen and the two U.S. coasts

Danish time for U.S. Showtime, October 2026 to March 2027

Denmark keeps Central European Time. Through autumn and winter New York is six hours behind Copenhagen and Los Angeles nine, except in the weeks when only one side has changed its clocks.

U.S. timeCopenhagen, normal weeksCopenhagen in the short-gap weeks (25 Oct–1 Nov 2026, 14–28 Mar 2027)

9 p.m. Eastern3 a.m.2 a.m.
Midnight Pacific9 a.m.8 a.m.
9 a.m. Eastern3 p.m.2 p.m.
2 p.m. Eastern (11 a.m. Pacific)8 p.m.7 p.m.

Four Sundays move the gap. Denmark goes back an hour on 25 October 2026 and the U.S. on 1 November; in spring the U.S. moves forward on 14 March 2027 and Denmark on 28 March. Between each pair, American times arrive in Denmark sixty minutes sooner than usual.

The autumn week has a Danish twist this year. TV 2 Play’s page for Dexter: Resurrection announces “Ny sæson 31. oktober”, and 31 October 2026 is a Saturday that falls inside it.

Most U.S. evening television lands in the Danish small hours, so on-demand viewing suits a Danish evening better than anything live: by 8 p.m. in Copenhagen it is only 2 p.m. in New York.

Calculated from the IANA tz data, release 2026c, for Europe/Copenhagen, America/New_York and America/Los_Angeles. The Faroe Islands and Greenland keep their own clocks, so these figures are for Denmark itself.

Digitaliseringsstyrelsen’s telecom statistics

YouSee, Norlys, Telenor, 3: what a Danish connection shows Paramount+

Paramount+ looks at the public address your request arrives from, and every Danish provider hands out Danish addresses. The networks differ in technology, not in the country they reveal.

ConnectionIn Denmark (Digitaliseringsstyrelsen, second half of 2024)What Paramount+ reads
Fibre53.9% of broadband subscriptionsA Danish address from your provider
Cable TV networks29.3% of broadband subscriptionsA Danish address
Copper (xDSL)8.2% of broadband subscriptionsA Danish address
Mobile data8,866,531 mobile broadband subscriptions, counting add-on and data-only onesA Danish address from the operator’s pool
Work, campus or shared-building Wi-FiRun by an employer, a university or a housing associationA Danish address, sometimes on a network that limits connection types

As for who runs those networks, Digitaliseringsstyrelsen’s 2025 provider list names the TDC group (with Nuuday, whose brands include YouSee and Eesy, and Hiper), the Norlys group (including Norlys Mobil, which was Telia Mobil Danmark until it was renamed on 5 May 2025), Telenor, and Hi3G, the company behind the 3 brand. From 2025 the statistics appear once a year, and the newest written summary, for the second half of 2024 and published on 7 July 2025, gives the technology mix rather than market shares, so we quote no shares here.

Then there is IPv6. If your line gives your devices an IPv6 address as well as the usual IPv4 one, a site can reach you by either. When the USip connection carries IPv4 and the IPv6 line of an address checker still names YouSee, Norlys or another Danish provider, Paramount+ may see Denmark. Read both lines before you press play.

A satellite dish brings television channels, not internet access, so a satellite package never changes what a website sees. Your broadband or mobile line is what counts.

Which U.S. address, if any

Four kinds of connection, and what Paramount+ makes of each

An address checker can show “United States” for very different reasons. What counts for a streaming service is whose address it is, and how many other people are using it.

ConnectionWhose address it isWhat a result tells you
Your YouSee, Norlys, Telenor or 3 lineYour Danish provider’sDenmark is not a Paramount+ region, so the U.S. service is not expected to open; a refusal says nothing new
A free VPN appA server’s, shared with crowds of strangersHardly anything: the address has a history you know nothing about
A data-centre VPNA hosting company’sThe country looks right, but the address is plainly not a household
USip residential U.S. IPA U.S. household internet provider’s, used by youA clear reading of one question: does Paramount+ accept this address today

Within reach

  • A U.S. household address in place of your Danish one, for the devices you connect
  • The same address for the whole session, so an account does not appear to jump around
  • A result you can act on: a minute of playback means the network side has done its part

Everything else belongs to Paramount+, and to you.

Out of reach

  • Paramount+’s decision to accept or refuse a connection, ours included
  • A Paramount+ account, or the plan it is on
  • Which country your Apple or Google store account belongs to
  • What TV 2 Play or SkyShowtime carries in Denmark

Ten minutes at a laptop

Checking Showtime from Denmark in four steps

Do the steps in order and change one thing at a time; that way a failure points at a single cause. A laptop browser shows the most and hides the least, so start there.

1

Read the address checker twice

With the USip connection running on the laptop, set up through the Windows or Mac guide, open an address checker. The IPv4 result has to be in the United States. If an IPv6 result appears, it must not belong to YouSee, Norlys, Telenor, 3 or any other Danish provider; fix that before going on.

2

A private window, your own account

Open a new private window so that no cookie from an earlier Danish visit comes along, then load paramountplus.com and log in with your existing Paramount+ account. USip cannot provide one.

3

One episode, one minute, one glance at the plan

Find the Showtime section and let any episode run for a full minute. Note the plan on the account as well: Premium includes “all of SHOWTIME®”, whereas Essential’s Showtime titles carry the warning “Series may not include all episodes”.

4

Write down the outcome

A minute of playback means the network side is fine for now. A message about location, a VPN or a proxy means: record the exact words, reconnect once and try one last time, and if the message repeats, email that wording to USip support. Repeating the attempt over and over teaches nothing.

Paramount+ makes its own decision about every connection, and a residential U.S. IP is no exception: it may be turned away like any other. Today’s result is not a promise for next month.

USip keeps its own record on a separate page, USip’s published checks, which we neither quote nor summarise here. USip’s Paramount+ guide covers the rest of Paramount+.

One device at a time

Showtime on Danish laptops, phones and televisions

Each device adds its own settings and its own store, and none of them changes what Paramount+ checks. USip filmed the four videos in September 2021, while Showtime still ran a separate app and website: the connection steps hold, but everything after them now happens in the Paramount+ app or at paramountplus.com.

Windows
Windows

Windows: the plainest place to start

On Windows there is no store between you and the answer. Add the USip profile to OpenVPN Connect, connect, check the address lines and go to paramountplus.com in a private window. The 2021 video finishes on the old Showtime site; the same steps today take you to Paramount+, where Showtime is a section of the service.

If the same computer also runs TV 2 Play or DRTV, end the U.S. connection before you return to them; both are made for viewers in Denmark.

Step by step: the Windows setup guide.

macOS
macOS

Mac: Private Relay and IPv6 first

Before connecting, turn off iCloud Private Relay, which changes how Safari reaches websites, and look at the IPv6 setting in the network panel. Then connect, read both address lines and open paramountplus.com in a private window.

The 2021 video shows Showtime’s own website, which no longer exists. Follow it as far as the connection and stop there.

Step by step: the Mac setup guide.

Android
Android

Android: skip the store switch

The 2021 video moves the Play Store to another country to install the Showtime app, which closed in 2024. Do not copy that step: Google Play Help says “To set up a new country or region, you must be in that location”, and that you “must wait at least 90 days” between changes.

Check in the phone’s browser instead, with the USip connection on. If the phone is on mobile data rather than Wi-Fi, read the IPv6 line there too, because it can differ from your home line.

Step by step: the Android setup guide.

iPhone and iPad
iPhone and iPad

iPhone and iPad: Apple’s rules on store country

The Danish App Store follows a Danish Apple Account, and on 9 October 2026 neither Paramount+ app was listed in it. In the 2021 video the account is moved to another store to install the old Showtime app. Apple attaches its own conditions to that kind of change, set out on its support page in the sources, and they can affect subscriptions you already have.

Use Safari at paramountplus.com first. A minute of playback there tells you what you need to know without any change to your account.

Step by step: the iOS setup guide.

A television, a streaming stick or a games console has no way to run OpenVPN Connect, so USip relies on Smart DNS for those. USip first needs your home’s public IP address on record; after that, the DNS details go into the device’s network settings, or once into the router, and any new public address your provider hands out has to be put on record again. The Smart DNS guide walks through it.

On the Danish side, TV 2 says SkyShowtime runs in the TV 2 Play app on phones, tablets, smart TVs, Apple TV, Android TV and computers. Whether a Paramount+ app is offered in your television’s own store is something we have not checked for Denmark.

Danish App Store, checked 9 October 2026

Paramount+ apps, app stores and a Danish account

A store shows the apps offered for your account’s country, and your connection does not change that. This is where things stood on 9 October 2026.

1

Apple: the U.S. Paramount+ app

Found in the American App Store alone, and not in the Danish one.

2

Apple: the international Paramount+ app

Listed in the UK, Ireland and Australia, and absent from the Danish App Store as well.

3

Google Play: not checked

We could not look country by country on Google Play, so we say nothing either way about Denmark.

4

Moving an Apple Account

Apple publishes its own conditions for changing an account’s country or region. Read them on its support page before you decide anything.

5

Moving a Google Play country

Google Play Help: “To set up a new country or region, you must be in that location”, and once it is set you “must wait at least 90 days” to change it.

6

Why the web player comes first

paramountplus.com in a browser needs neither a store nor an account country, so it isolates the one thing a U.S. address can change.

TV 2 Play, YouSee Play and SkyShowtime are services for viewers in Denmark. Use them with the U.S. connection switched off, and keep the U.S. address for the Paramount+ tab.

Danish rules, from ministry and agency pages

VPNs and Danish law after the December 2025 draft

Denmark had a public debate about VPNs in December 2025. Here is what the government’s own pages show, and where our knowledge ends.

DateWhat happenedWhere it is written
10 December 2025The Culture Ministry sent out for consultation a draft changing the copyright and broadcasting acts, including a “teknologineutralt forbud mod online pirateri”, a technology-neutral ban on online piracyHøringsportalen
15 December 2025The Culture Minister removed the section on VPN, saying “Jeg går ikke ind for at ulovliggøre VPN, og det har jeg heller aldrig foreslået” — he does not support making VPNs illegal and never proposed itKulturministeriet
9 January to 9 March 2026The consultation closed on 9 January and the page was archived on 9 March; it says the draft will be merged into another copyright proposalHøringsportalen
9 October 2026We found no newer Danish proposal on VPN useOur search of the ministry, Folketing and consultation sites

We have not found a Danish law that bans VPN software as such. We are not lawyers. If the question matters for your work or your situation, ask a Danish lawyer, and look at kum.dk and ft.dk for anything newer than this page.

The ministry said it would look at whether the piracy part “kan justeres og sendes i høring igen på et senere tidspunkt”, that is, whether it could be adjusted and sent for consultation again later. That leaves room for a revised proposal; none had appeared when we looked.

Elsewhere, Danish safety advice treats VPNs as a tool: sikkerdigital.dk, the site that also carries the Danish state’s minimum IT-security requirements, tells people on public Wi-Fi to use a VPN program for a secure connection. And what Danish providers block is particular websites. Digitaliseringsstyrelsen’s report on the open internet of 26 June 2026 describes blocking by court order or at the request of the national police and Save the Children, plus an industry code of conduct under which members block services the courts have found illegal. None of it is aimed at VPN software.

Whether Paramount+ streams to a given connection is for Paramount+ alone to decide, and a residential U.S. IP can be refused like any other. That choice is a company’s, made separately from Danish law, and we never describe it as a legal verdict.

Questions from Danish viewers

Showtime in Denmark — FAQ

Answered from Paramount’s, Showtime’s, SkyShowtime’s and TV 2’s own pages, the Danish government’s documents and Digitaliseringsstyrelsen’s statistics. Where a source was missing, the answer admits it.

Is Showtime available in Denmark?

Not under its own name. Showtime stopped running a separate app on 30 April 2024 and now streams inside Paramount+, which the “Paramount+ Regions” page does not offer in Denmark (read 9 October 2026). Several Showtime-made series do reach Danish viewers through SkyShowtime: TV 2 Play marks Dexter: Resurrection and Yellowjackets “Kræver SkyShowtime”, its SkyShowtime page names the original Dexter, and YouSee Play and Norlys carry SkyShowtime as well.

Is Paramount+ available in Denmark?

No. Denmark is not on the “Paramount+ Regions” page, which lists 28 countries (read 9 October 2026), and neither Paramount+ app appeared in the Danish App Store on that date. There was once a Paramount+ offer here: SkyShowtime replaced it in the Nordics on 20 September 2022, and TV 2 now calls SkyShowtime “det nye hjem for mange af Paramount+-favoritterne”, the new home for many Paramount+ favourites.

Where can I watch Dexter: Resurrection in Denmark?

On SkyShowtime, including as an add-on to TV 2 Play. TV 2 Play’s page for the series, read on 9 October 2026, is marked “Kræver SkyShowtime”, lists season 1 as eight episodes dated 12 September to 24 October 2025, and announces “Ny sæson 31. oktober”, a new season on 31 October. In the U.S. the series is on Paramount+’s Showtime page. Dates and catalogues can change, so check the app on the day.

Can I get SkyShowtime through TV 2 Play?

Yes. TV 2 Play offers SkyShowtime as an add-on to a TV 2 Play subscription, and TV 2’s help article, updated on 21 September 2026, says you can watch it in the TV 2 Play app on a phone, tablet, smart TV, Apple TV, Android TV or computer. The same article names Showtime among the studios SkyShowtime brings together. YouSee Play and Norlys also offer SkyShowtime.

What happened to the old Showtime app?

Showtime shut it. Its help site announced “The SHOWTIME streaming service is being discontinued”, and standalone accounts carried on “until they are discontinued on April 30, 2024”; since then the message has been “SHOWTIME programming is now available through Paramount+”. USip’s own videos date from September 2021, so they still show the separate app. The connection steps in them are still right; the destination is now paramountplus.com.

Which Paramount+ plan includes Showtime?

Paramount+ Premium, in full: the U.S. site promises “Watch hit originals, movies and all of SHOWTIME® ad free”. Essential carries some Showtime as well, “Access SHOWTIME® Originals”, footnoted “Series may not include all episodes”. Until 23 June 2025 Premium went by “Paramount+ with Showtime”; today only the American cable and satellite channel uses that name.

Is SkyShowtime closing in Denmark?

No closure has been announced. What SkyShowtime’s board wrote on 14 September 2026 is that the shareholders were “commencing a review of strategic options for the business, which includes the possibility of a wind down”, and that “no decisions have been made” (The Desk, 14 September 2026; advanced-television, 15 September 2026). We quote that and stop there: we have no forecast for Danish viewers.

Is it illegal to use a VPN in Denmark?

We have not found a Danish law that bans VPN software as such. A draft sent for consultation on 10 December 2025 mentioned VPN use in its section on online piracy; on 15 December the Culture Minister removed that section, saying “Jeg går ikke ind for at ulovliggøre VPN, og det har jeg heller aldrig foreslået”, that he does not support making VPNs illegal. We are not lawyers, so check kum.dk for anything newer.

Does USip include a Paramount+ subscription?

No, the two are separate. USip supplies one residential U.S. IP, an ordinary household address on a U.S. internet provider, and the set-up to use it. It does not provide Paramount+ accounts, plans or the rights to any series, and it does not decide what Paramount+ accepts; Paramount+ does. You use your own Paramount+ account, and your SkyShowtime or TV 2 Play subscription in Denmark stays exactly as it is.

Can I watch Showtime on my TV in Denmark?

The SkyShowtime part, yes: TV 2 lists smart TVs, Apple TV and Android TV among the devices for SkyShowtime in the TV 2 Play app. For the U.S. catalogue, televisions, sticks and consoles have no way to run OpenVPN Connect; USip relies on Smart DNS for them, recognising your home by its registered public IP address. Whether a Paramount+ app is offered in your television’s store is something we have not checked for Denmark. Do the laptop check first.

What time do U.S. Showtime premieres reach Denmark?

Copenhagen is six hours ahead of New York and nine ahead of Los Angeles. A 9 p.m. Eastern premiere arrives at 3 a.m. Danish time, and an episode posted at midnight Pacific is waiting at 9 a.m. In the week that starts on 25 October 2026 and the fortnight that starts on 14 March 2027, each comes an hour earlier, because the two sides switch between summer and winter time on different weekends.

Paramount+ still sees Denmark although the checker shows a U.S. address. What now?

Look at three things, one at a time. First the IPv6 line of the address checker: if it names YouSee, Norlys, Telenor or 3, Denmark can still show through. Then old cookies, which a fresh private window leaves behind. Then the connection itself: reconnect a single time and make one further attempt. Should the message return, note its wording exactly and email it to USip support.

Is the Paramount+ app in the Danish App Store?

No. When we looked on 9 October 2026, the Danish App Store had neither the American Paramount+ app nor the international one. Apple attaches its own conditions to switching an account’s store country, and Google Play Help says you “must wait at least 90 days” between country changes. A laptop browser at paramountplus.com avoids the store question altogether, which is why we start there.
