Sling Orange
ESPN, CNN, TNT and TBS lead more than 30 channels. This TNT is the American channel, not the UK’s TNT Sports.
Short answer: no. Sling TV has no British service, and Sling says so plainly: “Sling TV, a live TV streaming service, is only available in the United States.” On 9 October 2026 the Sling app was not in Apple’s UK App Store; it was listed in the U.S. store only. To reach Sling from Britain you need a connection that Sling reads as American, and Sling still decides whether to accept it.
Much of the American sport people want is already on British screens, legally and at British hours. Sky Sports promises more than 170 live NFL games this season, Channel 5 shows two Sunday games free-to-air, and DAZN carries NFL Game Pass. The NBA is on Sky Sports and Prime Video, and the NHL on Premier Sports. MLB is on TNT Sports, the British successor to BT Sport and a different channel from the American TNT in Sling Orange. What Britain lacks is Fox News, which left UK television in August 2017.
The first check takes about ten minutes and needs no Sling plan: a laptop, the USip residential U.S. IP, sling.com in a private Chrome or Safari window, and one Freestream channel, or one channel in a plan you already hold.

Start with what is already on British screens. On 9 October 2026 we read the broadcasters’ and the leagues’ own pages, plus a few dated trade and news reports, and lined them up against Sling’s plans. Every row names its source, because these rights move between seasons.
| What you want | Where it is in the UK (checked 9 October 2026) | Compared with Sling |
|---|---|---|
| The NFL, Sunday to Monday night | Sky Sports and NOW: “more than 170 live NFL games” in 2026/27, with NFL RedZone and Super Bowl LXI (Sky, 7 September 2026). Channel 5: two Sunday evening games free-to-air on 5 and 5ACTION, plus the Super Bowl, under a multi-year deal made in August 2025 (NFL). DAZN: NFL Game Pass, which DAZN’s UK site offers for every game of the season. | NFL Network is in Sling Select and listed under Sling Blue; ESPN is in Orange and Essentials. Local FOX, NBC and ABC stations come only “in select markets”, and blackouts apply. |
| The NFL in London, October 2026 | Commanders–Colts on 4 October and Jaguars–Eagles on 11 October at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, then Jaguars–Texans at Wembley on 18 October, each at 2:30 p.m. UK time (DAZN’s schedule). Sky Sports shows all three. | No need to look past Sky. In New York these games start at 9:30 a.m. |
| The NBA, from 20 October 2026 | Sky Sports and Prime Video since 2025–26, under 11-year deals (RXTV, 25 July 2024). Amazon put 86 regular-season games on Prime Video in the UK in 2025–26. A game in Manchester on 17 January 2027 (NBA.com). | ESPN, in Orange and Essentials, is one of three U.S. national partners, with NBC/Peacock and Prime Video. ABC and NBC come as local stations in select markets. |
| MLB, through the 2026 postseason | TNT Sports, the British channel group that replaced BT Sport in July 2023, holds MLB rights in the UK (TechRadar, 25 March 2026), and trade press reported in November 2025 that Sky Sports would show most of NBC’s new MLB package in the UK and Ireland from 2026 (Barrett Media). MLB dropped the two London games it had planned for 2026 (AP, 16 September 2025). | Sling Orange carries TBS and ESPN. MLB’s U.S. deals decide which games they show. |
| The NHL, 2026–27 | Premier Sports, with multi-year rights to every game since 2024, and NHL.TV through DAZN since July 2025. ITV4 and ITVX showed a weekly game for the rest of 2025–26 (Sportcal, 19 January 2026); we could not confirm ITV for 2026–27. | Sling Orange carries ESPN and the American TNT. U.S. listings show which games each has. |
| College football | DAZN, which TechRadar (updated 22 September 2026) says holds the UK rights this season and pledges 25 games a week. | ESPN in Orange and Essentials, FS1 in Select (Kiplinger), and local stations in select markets. |
| U.S. news channels | On Sky, CNN is on 506, CNBC on 505 and Bloomberg on 502 (RXTV’s channel list, reviewed 26 June 2026). Fox News left UK television on 29 August 2017, when 21st Century Fox said it was no longer in its commercial interest (NPR). | Fox News is in Sling Blue and Sling Select. CNN is in Sling Orange. |
Read across the rows and a pattern appears. Most of the American game already reaches Britain, with British studios, British start times and, on Channel 5, no subscription at all. Sling adds something else: the U.S. broadcasts as Americans see them, Fox News, and channels such as TBS, USA, Bravo, FX and Disney Channel. Whether that is worth a U.S. connection depends on which of them you miss.
One name trips people up. TNT Sports in the UK is the brand that replaced BT Sport on 18 July 2023 (SVG Europe). The TNT in Sling Orange is an American cable channel. Same three letters, different channels, different schedules.
Rights change every season, sometimes during one. These listings date from 9 October 2026, and your own Sky, Virgin Media, NOW or DAZN guide has the final word. USip has no part in any of these deals.

Sling’s line-up has moved a long way since the summer of 2025. Here it is as sling.com’s compare page showed it on 9 October 2026, with launch dates from EchoStar, which owns Sling, and from Kiplinger.
ESPN, CNN, TNT and TBS lead more than 30 channels. This TNT is the American channel, not the UK’s TNT Sports.
Fox News, USA and Bravo among more than 40 channels. The compare page also names NFL Network under Blue.
The two combined, more than 50 channels: the way to have ESPN and CNN alongside Fox News in one plan.
ESPN, Disney Channel, Freeform and Grit, with GSN, MeTV and others alongside, in EchoStar’s list.
Fox News, NFL Network, FX and National Geographic. Kiplinger reported a limit of three devices at once.
Sling’s free tier, running since February 2023. Its entry on the compare page reads “watch shows, movies, and news for free”.
The short-term passes are history. Sling launched a Day Pass, a Weekend Pass and a Week Pass in August 2025, Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery sued, and by 5 October 2026 Sling’s site told visitors the passes were no longer available (Cord Cutters News).
Local stations need a careful reading. Sling’s compare page says: “Local channels in select markets like ABC, NBC, FOX, and more.” USip assigns the U.S. address and you do not get to name its city, so you cannot steer which local stations Sling offers, if any. As for ownership, in EchoStar’s words: “Sling TV L.L.C. is an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of EchoStar Corporation.”

For most of the season London is five hours later than New York, and eight hours later than Los Angeles. Twice the gap shrinks by an hour, because Britain and the U.S. change their clocks on different Sundays: 25 to 31 October 2026, and 14 to 27 March 2027.
| U.S. start (Eastern time) | London, most weeks | London, late Oct 2026 and mid-Mar 2027 |
|---|---|---|
| Sunday 1:00 p.m. (early NFL games) | 6:00 p.m. Sunday | 5:00 p.m. Sunday |
| Sunday 4:25 p.m. (late NFL games) | 9:25 p.m. Sunday | 8:25 p.m. Sunday |
| Sunday 8:20 p.m. (Sunday Night Football) | 1:20 a.m. Monday | 12:20 a.m. Monday |
| Monday 8:15 p.m. (Monday Night Football) | 1:15 a.m. Tuesday | 12:15 a.m. Tuesday |
| A 7:30 p.m. weeknight start (common for the NBA and NHL) | 12:30 a.m. the next day | 11:30 p.m. the same day |
| 10:30 p.m. Eastern, 7:30 p.m. Pacific (West Coast games) | 3:30 a.m. the next day | 2:30 a.m. the next day |
Sky promises a first-pick game every Sunday at 6pm and 9pm, and Channel 5 puts its free games in the same two slots. They match the 1:00 p.m. and late-afternoon Eastern kick-offs.
Britain’s clocks go back that morning, America’s a week later. Early games start at 5 p.m., late ones at 8:25 p.m., and Monday Night Football at 12:15 a.m. on Tuesday 27 October.
Once the U.S. clocks go back on 1 November 2026, the five-hour gap holds all winter, through the NFL playoffs and the Super Bowl.
From 14 to 27 March 2027 the U.S. is on summer time and Britain is not, so NBA and NHL games start an hour earlier in London than they did in February.
The three 2026 London games start at 2:30 p.m. UK time, 9:30 a.m. in New York. For once the American audience gets the awkward hour.
Bring the USip connection up before Sling opens and leave it alone until you close Sling. A connection that drops or changes during a game usually means a stopped stream, and 1 a.m. is a poor hour to sort it out.

Whatever the connection, a British line presents a British address to the sites you visit, and that address is the main clue a site has to where you are. Fibre or 5G, the brand on the router changes how fast pages load, not where Sling thinks you are. The figures are Ofcom’s: its Telecommunications Market Data Update for Q1 2026 (published 23 July 2026) and its Connected Nations UK report 2025 (published 19 November 2025, with figures for July 2025).
| How you connect | What Ofcom reports | What Sling sees |
|---|---|---|
| Home broadband: full fibre, part-fibre or copper | 29.4 million fixed broadband lines at the end of Q1 2026. By July 2025 full fibre was available to 78% of homes. | A UK address, whichever provider runs the line. |
| Cable broadband | “Cable broadband in the UK is provided by Virgin Media O2”, on networks that deliver gigabit speeds. | A UK address. |
| Mobile data, 4G and 5G | 90.6 million active mobile subscriptions at the end of Q1 2026, excluding machine-to-machine. Ofcom reports coverage for BT/EE, Virgin Media O2 and VodafoneThree, formed when Vodafone and Three UK merged. | A UK address, including for a laptop tethered to the phone. |
| Satellite broadband | Starlink, “the only LEO operator offering satellite broadband coverage across the UK”, with take-up of over 110,000. | A UK address. The signal comes from space; the line is still British. |
| Office, campus, hotel or café Wi-Fi | Set up by the organisation that runs it. | A UK address, and often a firewall that refuses tunnels. |
Speed is rarely the weak point: Ofcom found gigabit-capable broadband available to 87% of homes by July 2025. With Sling the route matters more than the line, because your traffic crosses the Atlantic to a U.S. address and back. Measure speed with the USip connection on. Ofcom’s quarterly update gives national totals without a split by provider, so the table names networks rather than shares.
Some British connections give a device two addresses: an IPv4 one and a newer IPv6 one. If a device keeps using its British IPv6 address while the USip connection runs, a website can still see your UK provider. Step 1 of the check below shows both; neither should name a UK provider.

Seeing “United States” on an address checker settles less than it seems. Sling chooses which connections to serve and may turn any of them away, USip’s among them. The four options below differ in how the address looks to Sling and in how much a result tells you.
| Option | What Sling sees | The catch | Sensible use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your own UK line | A British address from your broadband or mobile provider | Sling is a U.S.-only service, so this address is outside its market | Sky, Channel 5, DAZN, TNT Sports, Premier Sports and Prime Video |
| Free VPN apps | A few server addresses used by many people at the same moment | Busy, changeable addresses that look nothing like a household | Not this |
| Commercial data-centre VPN | A hosting firm’s address block, rented out to servers | Right country, but plainly a data centre rather than a home | Security on public Wi-Fi when travelling |
| USip residential US IP | An everyday household address from a U.S. internet provider | Sling may still turn it down; it can refuse any connection | A stable U.S. household address, so the result means something |
When one Freestream channel holds a picture in a fresh private window, the connection side is answered for that session.
Two failed attempts are enough. After that, keep Sling’s wording and stop.

Do this on a laptop before you go near a phone, a television or an app store. A browser shows everything in one place, and Sling lists Chrome and Safari among the browsers it supports.
Install USip on the laptop (the Windows guide and the Mac guide cover it), connect in OpenVPN Connect and load an IP address checker. Look for two things. The IPv4 line should show a U.S. location. If there is an IPv6 line as well, it should show no British provider, so no BT, Sky, Virgin Media, TalkTalk, EE, Vodafone, Three or O2. A British name there means some traffic is still going out through your own line.
Use Chrome or Safari, the two browsers on Sling’s list. A private window opens without cookies, so nothing from an earlier visit on your British line travels with you. Close other Sling tabs first.
Pick one Freestream channel. If you already hold a Sling plan, sign in instead and start one channel in it. Let it run for sixty seconds: a picture that holds that long tells you more than one that appears and drops.
A steady picture means Sling accepted the address for now. A notice that mentions where you are, a VPN or a proxy means it did not. Copy that notice word for word, reconnect once and give it one more go in a fresh private window. Should the same notice come back, send the exact wording to USip support; repeated retries only muddy the picture.
Keep the wording of any message and the time you saw it; both help support more than a description. USip lists its own dated checks for several services on a separate page, USip’s published checks. They come from other days and other lines, so the result on your own line is the one that counts, and Sling can refuse any connection whatever happened elsewhere.

USip’s four Sling videos were recorded in September 2021. They show Sling’s 2021 screens, from before Essentials, Select and Freestream existed, and the phone videos switch the App Store or Google Play country. The USip connection steps still apply; the store-switch and sign-up parts are out of date, so leave them out.

Install OpenVPN Connect, import the USip profile and connect before Chrome is even open, then go to sling.com in a private window. No app store is involved, which is why a laptop is the right place to begin from Britain.
The video’s connection steps match what you do today. Sling’s pages in it date from 2021, so expect different plan names and menus, and skip the sign-up part of the recording.
Step by step: the Windows setup guide.

Mac users follow the same sequence. Bring up OpenVPN Connect with the USip profile, then open sling.com privately in Safari or Chrome, the two browsers Sling names.
A British IPv6 address sitting next to the U.S. IPv4 one would spoil the check, so look at both lines before reading anything into Sling’s reply. Stay in one browser from start to finish.
Step by step: the Mac setup guide.

In USip’s Android recording, the phone’s Play Store is moved to another country so that the Sling app can be installed. Google’s help page now says “To set up a new country or region, you must be in that location”. It also says you “must wait at least 90 days” before changing again. For someone living in Britain that part is out of date.
Where the app is already installed, the order is simple: OpenVPN Connect on, then Sling. Where it is not, the laptop is the better place to start.
Step by step: the Android setup guide.

In the iPhone recording the App Store is switched to the U.S. Apple attaches its own conditions to changing an Apple Account’s country or region, and the change applies to the whole account, so read Apple’s page first. On 9 October 2026 the UK App Store did not list the Sling app.
Already have Sling on the device from a past U.S. account? Bring OpenVPN Connect up before you tap the Sling icon. The 2021 sign-up screens in the video are out of date.
Step by step: the iOS setup guide.
A television, streaming stick or games console has no room for OpenVPN Connect, so for those USip offers Smart DNS instead. First tell USip your home’s public IP address; then type the DNS details into the device’s network settings, or set them once on the router so every device behind it uses them. Should your provider give your home a new public address, register that one too. The Smart DNS guide walks through it.
Sling’s device list names Roku, Amazon Fire, Apple TV, Android TV and Google TV, Chromecast, Samsung, LG, Vizio and Xbox Series X|S. Sky Q, Sky Glass, Sky Stream and Virgin Media’s boxes are not on it, and we have not checked what British smart-TV app stores offer. Set up the television only after the laptop check has worked.

One residential U.S. IP — an ordinary consumer address on a U.S. ISP, not a server range. USip and Sling TV are separate services: the plans include the connection only — not a Sling TV subscription, an app-store region or the rights to any channel or game.
Separate services: these prices are for the USip residential U.S. IP service only. Sling TV is a separate service; a Sling TV subscription and access to any particular channel, game or event are not part of a USip plan.
On 9 October 2026 the Sling app (“Sling: Live TV, Sports & News”) was in Apple’s U.S. App Store only, not in the UK store. Google Play’s listings were not looked up country by country, so this page says nothing either way about them.
Checked on 9 October 2026: listed for the U.S. storefront, and not for the UK, Canada, Germany, Australia, the UAE, Ireland, the Netherlands or Switzerland.
Apple decides which storefront you see from the country or region on your Apple Account. Its help page sets out what a change involves, Family Sharing among it, and says some content might not carry over.
Google Play Help ties a new Play country to being physically there, and allows a change only once every 90 days. The Play Store scene in the 2021 Android video does not fit a reader in Britain.
sling.com in Chrome or Safari involves no store at all. It is the quickest way to learn whether Sling takes the address, before any account setting comes into it.
Samsung, LG, Roku and Fire TV run their own stores. We have not checked which list Sling in the UK, so we make no claim.
Some older guides told readers to enter an invented U.S. ZIP code or install apps from unofficial stores. USip does not recommend either.
Two different things are being checked. Apple and Google check the country on your account. Sling checks the address of your connection. USip affects only Sling’s side of that.

People often ask one question when they mean two. Is VPN software lawful in Britain? And will Sling accept a particular connection? For the first, here is what we found, including what Parliament heard in July 2026. The second is Sling’s decision, every time.
We have not found a UK law that bans VPN software as such. Nothing here is legal advice, and we are not lawyers; a solicitor can answer for your own circumstances.
In a written statement on children’s safety online, the Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology said: “VPNs have legitimate privacy and security uses and we will therefore not age-gate or ban them.”
It also said the government had asked for research into what online services can do to detect and prevent VPN use on their platforms, as part of its work on children’s safety, not streaming.
An employer, a university or a hotel can set its own rules for its network and equipment. Read them before you run VPN software there.
Put together: no British rule against the software that we could find, and a government that told Parliament in July 2026 it will not ban it. Sling’s choices are a separate matter: it chooses the connections it serves and may refuse any, a residential U.S. IP included. How much each counts is your decision.

Answers drawn from Sling, the British broadcasters and leagues, Apple, Google, Ofcom and Parliament, as of 9 October 2026. When something could not be confirmed, the answer says so.
No. Sling has no UK service, and its own site says: “Sling TV, a live TV streaming service, is only available in the United States.” The Sling app was not in the UK App Store when we checked on 9 October 2026; Apple listed it in the U.S. store only. To see Sling from Britain you need a connection that Sling reads as American, and Sling decides whether to accept it.
Possibly, but nobody can promise it. A residential U.S. IP gives Sling an ordinary American household address to read instead of your British one. Sling decides which connections it accepts and can refuse any of them, USip’s included. The way to find out is to run this page’s laptop check, which takes about ten minutes: one Freestream channel, or one channel in a plan you already hold, in a private Chrome or Safari window.
On Sky Sports and NOW, which promise “more than 170 live NFL games” in 2026/27, including all three London games and Super Bowl LXI. On Channel 5, free-to-air, with two Sunday evening games a week on 5 and 5ACTION plus the Super Bowl, under a multi-year deal from August 2025. And on DAZN, whose NFL Game Pass covers every game. The 2026 London games fall on 4, 11 and 18 October.
On Sky Sports and Prime Video, which took the UK rights from the 2025–26 season under 11-year deals reported in July 2024. Amazon said 86 regular-season games would be on Prime Video in Britain that season. The 2026–27 season starts on 20 October 2026, and the NBA plays in Manchester on 17 January 2027. We did not find a full UK schedule for 2026–27 from either broadcaster.
Not as a channel on Sky. Fox News went off the air in the UK on 29 August 2017, when 21st Century Fox said carrying it was no longer in its commercial interest, and it was not in the news section of the Sky channel list we read. Sky does carry CNN, CNBC and Bloomberg. In the U.S., Fox News is part of Sling Blue and Sling Select, and Sling decides which connections it accepts.
Freestream is part of Sling, so the same rule applies: Sling says its service is only available in the United States. Freestream is Sling’s free tier with ads, running since February 2023, and it needs no Sling plan. That makes it the simplest first check from Britain: if one Freestream channel holds a picture in a private window on a residential U.S. IP, Sling has accepted the address for that session.
Sling Orange and Sling Essentials. Orange carries ESPN with CNN, TNT and TBS; Essentials, launched nationwide on 9 April 2026, carries ESPN with Disney Channel, Freeform and Grit. Sling Orange & Blue includes ESPN as well, while Sling Blue and Sling Select lead with Fox News. Whether a particular game plays through Sling depends on blackouts and Sling’s own rules, not on USip.
Sling lists Roku, Amazon Fire, Apple TV, Android TV and Google TV, Chromecast, Samsung, LG and Vizio among its devices; Sky and Virgin Media boxes are not on that list. A television has no OpenVPN Connect app, so USip’s route for it is Smart DNS: tell USip your home’s public IP address, then put the DNS details into the TV’s settings, or into the router once. Which UK TV app stores list Sling is something we have not looked into. Get a laptop working first.
We have not found a UK law that bans VPN software as such. On 15 July 2026 the government told Parliament that VPNs “have legitimate privacy and security uses” and that it would not ban them. This is not legal advice; we are not lawyers. Employers, universities and hotels may set rules for their own networks. Whether Sling accepts a connection is a separate question, and Sling decides it.
For most of the season the 1:00 p.m. Eastern games start at 6 p.m. in London and the 4:25 p.m. games at 9:25 p.m. Sunday Night Football begins at 1:20 a.m. and Monday Night Football at 1:15 a.m. From 25 to 31 October 2026 everything starts an hour earlier, because Britain changes its clocks a week before the U.S. The 2026 London games start at 2:30 p.m.
No. USip and Sling TV are separate services. What USip provides is one residential U.S. IP address, used by the devices you connect. It does not come with a Sling account, a Sling plan or the rights to any channel or game, and because USip assigns the address, you do not pick the U.S. city or its local stations. Sling sets its own plans and rules, and it can refuse any connection, USip’s included.

For Sling’s plans and messages in general, go to the hub. For another country’s broadcasters, networks and time zone, pick its guide: Canada, Germany, Australia, the UAE, Ireland, the Netherlands or Switzerland.
We read these pages on 9 October 2026, apart from Apple’s help page, last read on 6 October 2026. Broadcasters change schedules and rights every season, and Ofcom’s figures are for Q1 2026 and July 2025. The trade and news reports named in the text (Kiplinger, Cord Cutters News, TechRadar, AP, Sportcal, NPR, RXTV and SVG Europe) carry their own dates. The time conversions are our own, made with the IANA time-zone database.
For the NFL, the NBA, MLB and the NHL, the UK is well served. Sky, Channel 5, DAZN, Prime Video, TNT Sports and Premier Sports between them cover a great deal, at British hours and with nothing to set up. Look there first.
If what you miss is Sling itself, with Fox News, the American broadcasts and U.S. cable channels, start with a laptop, a private window and one Freestream channel. Sling decides what it accepts and can refuse any connection, so read the result as Sling’s verdict for that evening, nothing more. USip’s part is the residential U.S. IP; the rest belongs to Sling.
USip supplies the residential U.S. IP connection only. Sling TV is run by a separate company, which alone decides its plans, its channels and which connections it serves.
