How to Watch Sling TV in the UAE

Short answer: Sling TV does not operate in the UAE. The page Sling shows to visitors from abroad puts it in one sentence: “Sling TV, a live TV streaming service, is only available in the United States.” When we searched the UAE App Store on 9 October 2026, the Sling app was not there either. A residential US IP from USip lets Sling see an ordinary American home address in place of your UAE one; acceptance remains Sling’s call. First, though, read what UAE law says: Article 10 of the 2021 cybercrime decree-law is about IP addresses, and we quote it instead of guessing.

For American sport, the licensed options here come first. beIN SPORTS and its streaming service TOD hold NBA rights across the Middle East and North Africa, under a renewal reported in November 2025 that covers everything from the regular season to the Finals. DAZN’s NFL Game Pass streams every NFL game live in more than 200 markets outside the U.S. and China, and Gulf News listed beIN MENA for Super Bowl LX in February 2026. For the NHL, MLB and college sport we could not confirm a UAE home; the table below shows what we found.

The first check needs one laptop and about ten minutes: switch on the residential U.S. IP, load sling.com in a private Chrome or Safari window, and start a channel on Sling Freestream, Sling’s free tier, or a channel in a plan you already hold. If the picture runs steadily for a minute, the connection is settled; what Sling does after that is up to Sling.

U.S. sport and news in the UAE, 2026–27: who shows what

The U.S. sport and news that Sling is best known for, and where each one stood for viewers in the UAE on 9 October 2026, including the places where our checks ran out.

What you wantWhere it is in the UAE (checked 9 October 2026)Compared with Sling in the U.S.
The NFL, 2026 seasonDAZN’s NFL Game Pass: every game live, with NFL RedZone and NFL Network, in more than 200 markets outside the U.S. and China (Advanced Television, 8 September 2026). Gulf News also listed beIN MENA for Super Bowl LX in February 2026.ESPN is in Sling Orange and Sling Essentials; NFL Network is in Sling Select and on Sling Blue’s list. Games on Fox and NBC depend on local stations, which Sling offers only in select markets.
The NBA, 2026–27beIN SPORTS and its streaming service TOD, under a renewal reported on 21 November 2025: regular season, play-offs, Conference Finals and the Finals, in Arabic, English and French (Qatar Tribune). From 2025–26 the U.S. national games moved to ESPN and ABC, NBC and Peacock, and Prime Video, and TNT’s NBA deal ended. Sling carries ESPN, in Orange and Essentials.
NBA games in Abu DhabiPreseason games in Abu Dhabi four years running, the latest at Etihad Arena on Yas Island on 2 and 4 October 2025, Knicks against 76ers (NBA). ESPN reported in July 2026 that there would be no NBA preseason games in the Middle East this year (Reuters).Nothing to compare: these were live events in Abu Dhabi, which the NBA said would air live in the UAE.
The NHL, 2026–27NHL.TV through DAZN, which took it to nearly 200 countries from the 2025–26 season (Sports Video Group, 30 July 2025). The report named no countries, so we could not confirm the UAE.Not compared: we did not check which NHL games Sling’s channels carry this season.
MLB and U.S. college sportWe could not confirm a UAE rights holder for either. The newest MLB deal for this region that we found, beIN’s, covered the 2020 and 2021 seasons. Not compared: we did not check Sling’s baseball or college schedules.
U.S. news channelsIn 2018 Gulf News reported that CNN International would leave OSN and stay on the TV packages of e& (then Etisalat) and du. Neither operator’s channel list would open for us on 9 October 2026, so today’s line-ups are unconfirmed. For Fox News we found no UAE source.CNN, the American channel, is in Sling Orange; Fox News is in Sling Blue and Sling Select.

beIN is the name that keeps coming up. It has held NBA rights in this region since 2008, and the November 2025 renewal keeps the league on its channels and on TOD, with coverage in Arabic, English and French. According to the NBA, its games have been on UAE television since the 1987–88 season. For American football, DAZN’s NFL Game Pass covers the most ground in one place: live games, RedZone and NFL Network. Since we found no DAZN page naming the UAE, look in DAZN’s own app before counting on it.

Abu Dhabi staged NBA preseason games four years in a row, from 2022 to 2025, with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi as the league’s partner. This October breaks the run: on 30 July 2026 ESPN reported that the NBA would play no preseason games in the Middle East this year, and Reuters noted that nothing official had been announced.

Because these services are licensed for the region, they are the straightforward route in the UAE. Consider a residential US IP only for what they leave out, and only once you have read the section on UAE law.

Sports rights change from season to season, and channel packages change between them. Each entry above was checked on 9 October 2026 against the source named in it; the broadcaster’s own app is the place to confirm before you sign up.

The plans now, a free tier, and the end of the passes

Older guides, USip’s own earlier Sling page among them, name only Orange and Blue. Sling’s compare page, read on 9 October 2026, lists more, and the short-term passes of 2025 have since vanished.

Plan

Sling Orange

ESPN, CNN, TNT and TBS lead a line-up that Sling counts as “30+ channels”.

Plan

Sling Blue

Fox News, USA and Bravo head a list of 40+ channels.

Both together

Sling Orange & Blue

Orange and Blue combined, which Sling puts at 50+ channels.

Since 9 April 2026

Sling Essentials

ESPN, Disney Channel, Freeform and Grit. EchoStar announced the nationwide launch on 9 April 2026.

Since August 2025

Sling Select

Fox News, NFL Network, FX and National Geographic lead it. Kiplinger reported the launch on 22 August 2025.

Free

Sling Freestream

Sling’s free, advertising-supported tier, running since 9 February 2023. Sling’s help page puts it plainly: “Sling Freestream is like the name says, FREE.”

The compare page also pairs Essentials with Select, as it pairs Orange with Blue. International packages, which Sling describes as covering more than 20 languages, sit alongside these. Local stations work differently. The compare page says just this: “Local channels in select markets like ABC, NBC, FOX, and more.” The stations offered depend on the U.S. address Sling sees, and USip assigns that address, so you do not choose the city or state, nor the local stations that come with it. The Day Pass and the other short-term passes launched in August 2025 were gone by October 2026; Cord Cutters News quoted the notice on Sling’s site, “Sling Passes are no longer available”. The owner is EchoStar: “Sling TV L.L.C. is an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of EchoStar Corporation.”

Gulf Standard Time, all year

The UAE keeps one clock; America moves its own on 1 November

Clocks in the UAE sit at UTC+4 the whole year. The American side moves: New York is eight hours behind the UAE until 31 October 2026, nine hours behind between 1 November 2026 and 13 March 2027, and eight again after that. Los Angeles is always three hours further back.

The UAE weekend softens this only a little. Saturday and Sunday have been the official weekend for the federal government since its new working week began on 1 January 2022, and federal staff work until midday on Fridays. With that pattern, the 1:00 p.m. Sunday games arrive on Sunday evening, while it is still the weekend; the 4:25 p.m. games start after midnight, on Monday; and Sunday and Monday night games begin before dawn on working days.

Thursday night games begin before dawn on Friday, the federal half-day. For the biggest game of all, Gulf News gave UAE readers a kick-off of 3:30 a.m. on Monday 9 February 2026 for Super Bowl LX.

All seven emirates share one time zone, so the table holds for Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah alike. Times worked out with Python’s zoneinfo module on tz database release 2026c (zones Asia/Dubai, America/Los_Angeles, America/New_York). Leagues and broadcasters set start times; the table only translates them.

UAE law, quoted rather than summarised

VPNs, IP addresses and UAE law: what the official texts say

Is a VPN allowed in the UAE? We looked for an official text that answers that for a private person watching a foreign streaming service, and found none. Below are the texts that come closest, quoted as they stood on 9 October 2026. We are not lawyers, and none of this is legal advice.

Federal Decree-Law No. 34 of 2021

Article 10 and someone else’s IP address

This is the UAE’s cybercrime law, in force since 2 January 2022. In the official English translation, Article 10 concerns anyone who gets round the protocol (IP) address of an information network “by using an address belonging to another person” or “by any other means”, “with the intent to commit a crime or to prevent its detection”. It sets “temporary imprisonment and a fine” of 500,000 to 2,000,000 dirhams, or one of the two.

TDRA, 31 July 2016

The only TDRA statement on VPNs we found

Published when the regulator was still the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, it said “there are no regulations which prevent the use of VPN technology by companies, institutions and banks”, and that business users “can be held accountable” for misuse. It does not mention private viewers, and the 2012 law it relied on was later repealed by Article 73 of the 2021 decree-law.

TDRA policy, 19 April 2017

What internet providers are told to block

TDRA’s Internet Access Management policy “applies to all Licensees who provide Internet Services to Users in the UAE”. First on its list of prohibited content is content “that allows or helps users to have access to prohibited content”, “including the proxy servers and Virtual Private Networks Services (VPNs)” whose main use is exactly that.

Taken together, these texts do not settle the matter for a private viewer. The decree-law’s English text never mentions VPNs or virtual private networks, and TDRA’s FAQ page, read on 9 October 2026, has no question about them. We found no official statement either allowing or forbidding a private person in the UAE to watch a foreign streaming service through a residential IP address in another country. That gap is not the same as permission.

Two points need saying plainly. The English wording is a translation, and the UAE Legislation portal states that the Arabic text prevails. And a residential US IP is, by design, an address other than your own UAE one. Article 10 describes the act broadly, down to “or by any other means”, and we cannot say that using such an address falls outside that description; what the article adds is the intent it names. How a UAE court would view watching a U.S. streaming service, under Article 10 or under another law such as copyright, we are not in a position to judge, and we have not analysed those other laws.

Things only you can check: the Arabic original of Federal Decree-Law No. 34 of 2021, which is the text that prevails; any IT policy that comes with a work laptop or an office network; and the conditions of your e& or du contract. For an answer about your own situation, speak to a lawyer admitted in the UAE. Separately from the law, acceptance stays with Sling, which can turn any connection away.

This section reports what we found and where our search stopped. It does not say that using a VPN or a residential US IP is allowed in the UAE, and it does not say that it is forbidden.

UAE connections

e&, du and what Sling TV sees from a UAE line

Fixed and mobile internet in the UAE is supplied by two licensed operators, e& (formerly Etisalat) and du; the government portal also names Virgin Mobile among telecoms providers. Whichever of them carries your traffic, websites see an address registered in the UAE.

Where you connectWhose networkWhat Sling reads
Home fibree& or duA UAE address on a UAE operator
Phone on 4G or 5Ge&, du or Virgin MobileA UAE address on a UAE operator
Laptop tethered to your phoneYour phone’s operatorThe phone’s UAE address
Hotel, office, compound or campus Wi-FiThe venue’s network, which may filter traffic in its own wayA UAE address
Laptop with USip switched onYour UAE line carrying USip’s U.S. addressA U.S. home connection, which Sling may still refuse

The newest regulator figures we could find are TDRA’s for June 2026, released in September: 4,915,872 broadband subscriptions at the end of that month, as Al Khaleej reported on 24 September 2026; TDRA’s spreadsheet itself would not open for us. The operators publish their own counts. du reported 9.3 million mobile and 744,000 fixed customers for the second quarter of 2026 in its results of 22 July 2026, and e& more than 16.5 million subscribers in the UAE, mobile and fixed together (The National, 30 July 2026). We have not checked that the two count in the same way, so read these as rough sizes, not market shares.

IPv6 is the usual catch. A fibre connection may have a second, newer kind of public address, IPv6, next to the familiar IPv4, and IP lookup sites list both. If the IPv6 entry still points to e& or du while USip is on, your UAE connection stays visible beside the U.S. one; switching IPv6 off on the laptop before the check, or asking USip support how to handle it, deals with that.

Hotels, offices and residential compounds can run their own networks with their own rules. If OpenVPN Connect will not connect on one of them, suspect the network before Sling, and make a single attempt over your phone’s hotspot to see which it is. On an employer’s laptop or network, the employer’s IT rules come first.

Four routes compared

What Sling TV is likely to see from each kind of connection

An IP address tells any website roughly where you are and what sort of network you are on. This is how the four usual routes look from Sling’s side.

RouteWhat Sling is likely to seeThe catchSensible use
Your e& or du line, unchangedA UAE address on a UAE operatorSling shows its U.S.-only pagebeIN, TOD, DAZN and the other services licensed in the UAE
A free VPN appOften a U.S. address on a crowded shared serverMany people share one address, and results change from day to dayNot a sound basis for anything
A VPN server in a data centreA U.S. address on a hosting company’s networkRight country, but the address belongs to a hosting company, which any service can look upPrivacy when you use public Wi-Fi
USip residential US IPA U.S. address on a consumer internet providerSling still decides, and the U.S. city is not yours to chooseThe ten-minute check below

What a residential US IP changes

  • Where Sling places you: in the U.S., on a household internet line
  • The kind of network Sling sees: a consumer provider, not a data centre
  • How clear the answer is: a refusal is no longer about a UAE address

When a channel has run steadily for one minute, stop changing settings.

What it does not change

  • Sling’s freedom to turn down any connection, USip’s among them
  • The U.S. city and state, which USip assigns, so you don’t choose your local stations
  • Blackouts, Sling’s plans and which games a plan includes
  • Which country your Apple or Google account belongs to
  • What UAE law says, and how it applies to you

Sling has not approved USip in any way, and this page does not suggest otherwise.

The first check

Four steps on a laptop, about ten minutes in all

Do this once on a laptop before setting up a phone or a TV. It answers one question only: will Sling accept the connection?

1

Connect, then look up your address

Load your USip profile into OpenVPN Connect as the Windows setup guide or Mac setup guide describes, and connect. Then check your address on any IP lookup site: the IPv4 line must show the U.S. If it lists an IPv6 address too, that one must not name e& or du; if it does, your UAE line is still visible.

2

Load sling.com in a new private window

Chrome or Safari, the two browsers on Sling’s supported-devices list, are the ones to use. A private window opened just now carries none of the cookies left by earlier visits from your UAE address. USip does not supply Sling accounts.

3

Start one channel and give it a minute

Open a channel on Sling Freestream, the free tier, or, if you already hold a Sling plan, sign in and start one channel from it. Let it run a full minute before you decide anything.

4

Read the result

A steady minute of picture means the connection side is done. A message that mentions where you are, a VPN or a proxy is different: copy its exact words. Disconnect, reconnect once, and make one more attempt in a new private window. If those words appear again, hand them to USip support rather than retrying over and over.

A good minute proves the address and nothing more: plans, channels and the decision to play stay with Sling. USip keeps a dated log on a separate page, USip’s published checks, and nothing in it predicts how your own UAE connection will fare.

Laptop first, phone second, television last

Sling TV on a laptop, phone or TV in the UAE

The four videos below date from September 2021, when USip recorded them. Their USip connection steps still apply. The Sling screens are the 2021 ones, though, and the two phone videos switch the App Store or Google Play country; leave that part out, along with the Sling sign-up scenes, which are out of date.

Windows
Windows

Windows: the browser comes first

The video’s connection part still holds: bring the USip profile into OpenVPN Connect and connect. Confirm the address, then load sling.com in Chrome. Everything Sling-related on screen, from plans to sign-up pages, is the 2021 version; today’s first step is a Freestream channel, or one channel in a plan you already hold. Windows involves no app store here, so it is the simplest place to begin.

Step by step: the Windows setup guide.

macOS
macOS

macOS: read both address lines

The OpenVPN Connect steps in the Mac video still hold. Before opening Sling in Safari or Chrome, read both lines of the address lookup, because an IPv6 address from e& or du would put your UAE line back in view. Skip the video’s sign-up scenes; Sling’s plans and pages have changed since 2021.

Step by step: the Mac setup guide.

Android
Android

Android: keep your Play country

In the video, Google Play is moved to the American store so that the Sling app can be installed. Skip that part. Google’s rules, as we read them on 9 October 2026: “To set up a new country or region, you must be in that location”, and you “must wait at least 90 days” between one change and the next. We did not check the UAE Play Store for Sling. The OpenVPN Connect part still applies; exempt the app from battery optimisation so Android does not shut it in the background.

Step by step: the Android setup guide.

iPhone and iPad
iPhone and iPad

iPhone and iPad: no UAE listing

On 9 October 2026 the Sling app had no listing in the UAE App Store. The video installs it by switching the App Store country, which is a change to your Apple Account; Apple sets the conditions for that on its own support page. Look at those only after the laptop check has produced a clear result. The video’s OpenVPN Connect part is still current.

Step by step: the iOS setup guide.

Televisions, streaming sticks and games consoles cannot host OpenVPN Connect. USip’s route for them is Smart DNS, which begins with registering your home connection’s public IP address in USip. The DNS details then go into each device, or a single time into the router. Home addresses from e& and du can change; when yours does, add the new one in USip as well. Whether the app stores on UAE televisions carry Sling we did not look into, which is one more reason to get a clear laptop result first.

The Sling app

The Sling app and the UAE app stores

On 9 October 2026 the Sling app, “Sling: Live TV, Sports & News”, was in the U.S. App Store and not in the UAE one. Store listings follow the store’s country, not the address you connect from, so this guide begins in a browser instead.

Apple

No UAE listing

Searching the UAE App Store on 9 October 2026 found no Sling app (id 945077360). Apple decides when an Apple Account may move to another country or region, and lists its conditions on its support site; whether to do that is a decision about your account, not about the connection.

Google

Google Play: not looked at

Our store check covered Apple only, so this page says nothing either way about Sling on Google Play in the UAE. Google’s help page sets two limits: the Play country can be changed only from inside the new country, and a 90-day wait applies between changes.

Browser

Chrome or Safari first

On a laptop, sling.com opens in Chrome or Safari, the two browsers Sling lists, with no store involved at all. Starting there keeps the app-store question out of the first check; phones and TVs can wait for a clear result.

What people in the UAE ask

Sling TV in the UAE — FAQ

Each answer rests on a named source: Sling’s and the NBA’s pages, Gulf and trade press reports, the official decree-law text, TDRA’s own documents, or our own time-zone calculations. Gaps are marked as gaps.

Is Sling TV available in the UAE?

No. Sling’s page for visitors outside America says: “Sling TV, a live TV streaming service, is only available in the United States.” No UAE edition exists, and on 9 October 2026 the Sling app was missing from the UAE App Store. The licensed choices for U.S. sport here are beIN SPORTS with its TOD service for the NBA, and DAZN’s NFL Game Pass for American football. For other leagues we could not confirm a UAE broadcaster.

Can I watch Sling TV in the UAE with a residential US IP?

Possibly, though nobody can promise it. A residential US IP from USip puts an ordinary American home address in front of Sling instead of your UAE one. Acceptance is Sling’s call, and it can turn down any connection, USip’s among them. Read the section on UAE law before anything else. Then try the ten-minute laptop check: one Freestream channel, or one channel in a plan you hold, running for a minute settles the connection side.

Is a VPN legal in the UAE?

We found no official answer for private viewers. Article 10 of Federal Decree-Law No. 34 of 2021 covers using “an address belonging to another person”, or other means, “with the intent to commit a crime or to prevent its detection”, and provides for temporary imprisonment and a large fine, or either of the two. In 2016 TDRA said no regulation prevented VPN use by companies, institutions and banks. Neither text settles the streaming question. We are not lawyers; ask one admitted in the UAE.

Where can I watch the NBA in the UAE?

On beIN SPORTS and its streaming service TOD. beIN has shown the NBA across the Middle East and North Africa since 2008, and a renewal reported on 21 November 2025 covers regular-season games, the play-offs, the Conference Finals and the Finals, in Arabic, English and French. Abu Dhabi hosted NBA preseason games every year from 2022 to 2025, but ESPN reported in July 2026 that the Middle East would have none this year.

Where can I watch the NFL in the UAE?

DAZN offers NFL Game Pass in more than 200 markets outside the U.S. and China, with every game live plus NFL RedZone and NFL Network, Advanced Television reported on 8 September 2026. We found no DAZN page naming the UAE, but Gulf News pointed UAE readers to DAZN, and to beIN MENA, for Super Bowl LX. Look in DAZN’s own app before counting on it.

Is Sling Freestream available in the UAE?

Not as a UAE service. Freestream belongs to Sling, and Sling says it is “only available in the United States”. Within the U.S. it is Sling’s free, advertising-supported tier, running since 9 February 2023, and Sling’s help page says “Sling Freestream is like the name says, FREE.” That makes it the sensible first check with a residential US IP: a refusal then points at the connection rather than at a plan.

Which Sling plan has ESPN?

Sling Orange and Sling Essentials. Orange lists ESPN, CNN, TNT and TBS among its “30+ channels”. Essentials, launched nationwide on 9 April 2026, lists ESPN, Disney Channel, Freeform and Grit. Sling Select, launched in August 2025, has Fox News and NFL Network instead. Having a channel in your plan does not mean a given game will be available to you: blackouts and local-market rules belong to Sling and the leagues.

Does USip include a Sling subscription?

No. The only thing USip provides is a residential U.S. IP address, reached on computers and phones through the OpenVPN Connect app, or on televisions through Smart DNS. Your Sling account and whatever plan it holds come from Sling, which alone decides whether a connection is accepted. USip is likewise unconnected to beIN, TOD, DAZN, e& and du, which go on working normally over your UAE line.

Can I watch Sling on my TV in the UAE?

OpenVPN Connect will not run on a television, stick or console, so for those USip relies on Smart DNS. USip needs to know your home connection’s public IP address; the DNS details then go on the TV or the router, and if e& or du changes that address, you update it with USip. We have not looked at whether TV app stores in the UAE carry Sling, so settle a laptop result first.

What time are NFL games in Dubai?

Until 31 October 2026 the UAE is eight hours ahead of New York. Sunday’s 1:00 p.m. games start at 9:00 p.m. in the UAE, the 4:25 p.m. games at 12:25 a.m. on Monday, and Sunday night games at 4:20 a.m. on Monday. Between 1 November 2026 and 13 March 2027 each of those is an hour later, because the U.S. leaves daylight saving time while the UAE keeps its clocks unchanged.

Is the Sling app in the UAE App Store?

No. At our check on 9 October 2026, “Sling: Live TV, Sports & News” appeared in the American App Store and in none of the other eight national stores checked, the UAE’s among them. Google Play is a separate question that we did not examine store by store. Apple alone sets the conditions for taking an Apple Account to another country. None of this matters for the first check, which runs in a laptop browser at sling.com.

Can I watch CNN or Fox News in the UAE?

CNN International, a different channel from the CNN in Sling Orange, was due to stay on the TV packages of e& (then Etisalat) and du after leaving OSN, Gulf News reported in 2018. Neither operator’s channel list would open for us on 9 October 2026, so today’s line-ups are unconfirmed. We found no UAE source for Fox News, which on Sling sits in Blue and Select.

What should I do if Sling says something about my location, a VPN or a proxy?

Note the wording exactly, character for character if you can. Then disconnect and reconnect OpenVPN Connect a single time and make one fresh attempt in a new private window. Should the identical message appear again, stop and send that wording to USip support, who can work from it. Repeated retries add nothing useful and blur what happened. Sling is entitled to turn away any connection, USip’s among them, and nothing here says otherwise.

For Sling as a whole (its plans, the free tier, the passes that came and went, and what to do when Sling shows a message), read the hub. Every country guide has its own broadcasters, networks, law and clock; Australia is the only other guide outside Europe and North America.

Where each quote and number comes from

Where the facts on this page come from

The main pages behind this guide, each read on 9 October 2026. Legal quotations come from the official English translation, and the Arabic text prevails. Also used, and named where they appear: Kiplinger (22 August 2025), NewscastStudio on the NBA’s U.S. deals (24 July 2024), Sling’s Freestream announcement (9 February 2023) and supported-devices page, Gulf News (2 February 2026; 15 September 2018), Reuters via Field Level Media (30 July 2026), Sports Video Group (30 July 2025), du’s first-half results (22 July 2026), The National (30 July 2026), Al Khaleej (24 September 2026) and the UAE Government portal.

Licensed services first, then your own decision

For U.S. sport in the UAE, start with what is sold here: beIN SPORTS and TOD for the NBA, DAZN’s NFL Game Pass for American football, at the hours in the table above. Read the section on UAE law, then decide for yourself about anything beyond that.

If you decide to go further, give the ten-minute laptop check one try with a residential US IP, using a Freestream channel or a plan you already hold. Whether anything plays is Sling’s decision; USip’s part ends at the U.S. address.

USip supplies the residential U.S. IP connection only. UAE law, the local broadcasters, app-store countries and your Sling account are separate matters that lie outside it.
