Some NFL games are free-to-air in Ireland. Sling TV is U.S.-only.

How to Watch Sling TV in Ireland

Short answer: Sling TV has no Irish version. The page Sling shows visitors from outside the U.S. puts it plainly: “Sling TV, a live TV streaming service, is only available in the United States.” On 9 October 2026 the Sling app was in Apple’s U.S. App Store but not the Irish one. A residential US IP from USip changes the address Sling sees. Whether Sling accepts that address is Sling’s call, not ours.

Much of what Irish viewers want from Sling is already here, legally and on Irish hours. For the 2026 NFL season the league names Virgin Media Television (at least 22 free-to-air games a season), Sky Sports (more than half of all games) and DAZN’s NFL Game Pass (every game, some blackouts). Sky Sports and Prime Video share the NBA, and Sky’s Irish line-up carries CNN International.

What Sling adds is the U.S. channels themselves — ESPN, CNN, Fox News, NFL Network. The first check takes ten minutes and no Sling plan: a laptop, the USip connection, sling.com in a private window in Chrome or Safari, and one channel on Freestream, Sling’s free tier, or one channel in a plan you already have. Below: Irish rights holders for 2026–27, Dublin start times, how Irish lines look to Sling, and what to do if Sling says no.

We read the leagues’, broadcasters’ and streaming services’ own pages on 9 October 2026 and set them beside Sling’s line-up. Irish rights and U.S. rights are separate deals, which is why the two right-hand columns rarely name the same company.

MLBTrade press reported in November 2025 that Sky Sports would take most of NBC’s new baseball package for the UK and Ireland from 2026. We could not confirm the rest of the Irish picture from a first-party page. From 2026 ESPN has a midweek MLB package of its own, and NBC’s Sunday night games reach Sling only where it offers a local NBC station.
U.S. news channelsSky’s Irish line-up has CNN International on 506, CNBC on 504 and Bloomberg on 505, according to RXTV’s list reviewed on 8 June 2026. Fox News is not on that list.Sling Orange has CNN, the U.S. channel rather than CNN International. Sling Blue and Sling Select have Fox News.

Ireland is best served for the NFL. The league says Virgin Media’s new deal more than doubles its 2025 output, with 18 Sunday-evening games on free-to-air television, while Sky Sports shows more than half of all games and DAZN streams every game, blackouts aside. The NFL’s footnote on DAZN deserves a read: “Some blackout restrictions apply in the United Kingdom and Ireland.”

Sling is something else: U.S. channels as Americans receive them — ESPN, CNN, Fox News, NFL Network — with local U.S. stations in select markets. That matters if you follow a team through its U.S. coverage, or want the U.S. CNN rather than CNN International. It does not hand you every game, because blackouts and local-market rules belong to Sling and the leagues.

Rights are sold season by season, and several of these deals are new. Check the guide on your own Sky, Virgin Media or DAZN account before deciding, since channel numbers from a June list can move. Nothing on this page promises a particular game on Sling.

Sling TV in October 2026

Sling’s line-up now: more than Orange and Blue

Plenty of older guides still describe Sling as Orange and Blue. Sling’s compare page, read on 9 October 2026, lists more than that, and none of it is offered as an Irish service.

ESPN · CNN · TNT · TBS

Sling Orange

Sling lists it with 30+ channels. The plan to look at if you want ESPN and CNN side by side.

Fox News · USA · Bravo

Sling Blue

Listed with 40+ channels. Orange and Blue also come together as one plan of 50+ channels.

Since 9 April 2026

Sling Essentials

ESPN, Disney Channel, Freeform and Grit. EchoStar, which owns Sling, announced the nationwide launch on 9 April 2026.

Since August 2025

Sling Select

Fox News, NFL Network, FX and National Geographic. The compare page also offers Essentials and Select together.

Sling Freestream

In Sling’s words, a way to “watch shows, movies, and news for free”. It needs no plan, which is why the check on this page starts there.

Ended

Day, Weekend and Week passes

Sling launched them in August 2025 and later swapped the Weekend Pass for a 3-Day Pass. By October 2026 they were no longer offered.

Sling belongs to EchoStar, whose own wording is: “Sling TV L.L.C. is an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of EchoStar Corporation.” Local stations come with a condition printed on the compare page: “Local channels in select markets like ABC, NBC, FOX, and more.” Which ones Sling attaches depends on the U.S. address it sees. USip assigns that address, so there is no steering it towards Boston, Pittsburgh or anywhere else; whatever local stations Sling links to it, if any, are the ones you get.

Advice that still circulates about Sling — Orange and Blue only, the day passes it dropped, switching app stores — is out of date. The Sling TV hub keeps the full timeline; this guide stays with what matters from Ireland.

Dublin time

When U.S. games start in Dublin, autumn 2026 to spring 2027

For most of the season Dublin is five hours ahead of New York and eight ahead of Los Angeles. The two sides change their clocks on different Sundays, so for three weeks the gap to New York shrinks to four hours: 25–31 October 2026 and 14–27 March 2027. Times worked out with Python’s zoneinfo module and the 2026c time-zone database.

1

The Sunday pair

The early and late Sunday windows land at 6:00 p.m. and 9:25 p.m. in Dublin for most of the season, the friendliest U.S. hours an Irish viewer gets. Virgin Media’s Sunday 9 p.m. games sit in that late window.

2

Night games become next-day games

Sunday-night and Monday-night kick-offs come after 1 a.m. in Dublin in every week but one, 25–31 October. Most people in Ireland catch those the following day rather than live.

3

The October week

From 25 to 31 October 2026 Ireland is back on winter time while the U.S. is not. Everything in the table arrives an hour earlier, so Sunday night’s game starts at 12:20 a.m.

4

The March fortnight

From 14 to 27 March 2027 the U.S. has moved its clocks forward and Ireland has not. A 7:30 p.m. weeknight start becomes 11:30 p.m. in Dublin, a rare chance to see basketball or hockey before midnight.

5

West Coast evenings

A 7:00 p.m. start in Los Angeles is 3:00 a.m. in Dublin for most of the season, and 2:00 a.m. in the odd weeks. Pacific-time games are for the very keen.

6

Connect before you sit down

Start the USip connection before opening Sling, and keep it running until you close the tab. A connection that drops halfway changes the address Sling sees, and that can end a stream mid-game.

These times are arithmetic, not fixtures. Check each game’s own listing before you set an alarm.

Irish broadband and mobile, as Sling sees them

ComReg’s Quarterly Key Data Report for Q2 2026 (Information Notice 26/59, dated 3 September 2026) was the regulator’s newest when we checked on 9 October 2026. Whichever of these providers you use, the public address on your connection is outside the U.S.

How you connectMain providers (ComReg, Q2 2026)What Sling sees without USip
Home broadband: fibre, cable, copper, fixed wireless1,789,356 lines in all. eir 28.3%, Vodafone 20.7%, Virgin Media 19.4% and Sky Ireland 15.6%, then Pure Telecom 2.5% and Digiweb 2.2%.An Irish address belonging to that provider.
Satellite broadband38,181 satellite lines. Starlink alone holds 2.1% of all fixed broadband lines.Still an address outside the U.S.
Mobile: 4G and 5GVodafone 31.8%, Three 27.7%, eir 24.9% and Tesco Mobile 8.1%, with Lyca and Virgin Mobile on 2.5% each.An Irish mobile address, on the phone and on a hotspot alike.
Work, college or hotel Wi-FiWhoever runs the network. An address outside the U.S., on a network that may not allow connections like USip’s.

Two things on an Irish line can spoil a check before Sling is even involved. The first is IPv6, the newer address system that some lines hand out next to the older IPv4. If the USip connection carries IPv4 only, a browser may still reach some sites over IPv6 through your Irish provider, and a site answering that way sees your Irish address. An address checker shows it: the provider’s name turns up on the IPv6 line.

The second is a network that isn’t yours. Office, college and hotel networks set their own rules, and a failure on one of them describes that network, not Sling. Repeat the check once on mobile data before drawing any conclusion.

Speed is seldom the problem. ComReg counted 82.6% of fixed lines sold at 100 Mbps or more, 72.8% at 500 Mbps or more and 27.3% at a gigabit or more. Through a U.S. address, the route across the Atlantic matters more than your own line, so measure speed with USip connected.

ComReg’s mobile shares leave out mobile broadband (394,453 connections) and machine-to-machine connections (4,481,995), as the regulator presents them. We list the named providers only.

Not every U.S. address is alike

Four ways to connect from Ireland, and what Sling makes of each

An address checker that says “United States” is only the start. The kind of address matters as much as its country, and no option below can promise that Sling will play.

USip residential US IPAn ordinary consumer address on a U.S. internet provider, assigned by USipSling can still refuse it, and the U.S. city comes with the addressOne steady U.S. address for a check whose result you can read

What a residential US IP changes

  • The public address Sling reads: a U.S. household line in place of your Irish one
  • Consistency: one U.S. address from the address check to the last minute of a game
  • Clarity: if Freestream won’t play, the message is about the connection, not about a plan or an account

If a Freestream channel plays in a clean private window, the location side is settled for that session.

What it cannot change

  • Sling’s own decision: it accepts or turns away connections as it sees fit, USip’s included
  • The U.S. city, which USip assigns, and so the local stations Sling attaches to it
  • Sling’s plans, channels, blackouts and sign-up rules, and the leagues’ local-market rules
  • The country on your Apple Account or Google account, and so the app store you see

If Sling still says no after one careful retry, that answer is Sling’s, and USip support is the next stop.

Ten minutes, one laptop, no Sling plan

The ten-minute check from Ireland

Run this before thinking about plans, phones or televisions. Freestream needs no Sling plan, so whatever happens tells you about the connection and nothing else.

1

Connect the laptop and read both address lines

On a Windows PC or a Mac, set USip up with the Windows guide or the Mac guide, connect in OpenVPN Connect, then open any IP address checker. The IPv4 address has to be in the U.S. If the checker also shows an IPv6 address, that line should carry no Irish provider’s name; if it says eir, Virgin Media or another Irish network, part of your traffic is still going out through your own line.

2

Open sling.com in a fresh private window

Use Chrome or Safari, the two browsers on Sling’s supported-devices list. A private window brings no cookies from an earlier visit made on your Irish address. Don’t sign in to anything yet.

3

Play one Freestream channel for a minute

Pick any Freestream channel and let it run for a full minute, adverts included. If you already hold a Sling plan, sign in instead and start one channel the plan includes, such as ESPN on Orange or Essentials, for the same minute.

4

Read the result, and stop after one retry

A picture means Sling accepted the address for now. A message about your location, a VPN or a proxy means it did not. Copy that message word for word, reconnect USip once and try one more fresh private window. If the message comes back, send its exact wording to USip support; ten more attempts would tell you nothing new.

Sling alone decides whether a connection is acceptable, and it can turn any connection away — USip’s among them. We cannot promise that Sling will play for you, on any line. USip keeps its own record on a separate page, USip’s published checks; we do not repeat or summarise it here.

Prove it on a laptop, then move to the phone

Sling TV on each device, from Ireland

Sling’s supported-devices list, read on 9 October 2026, names Roku, Amazon Fire, Apple TV, Android TV and Google TV, Chromecast, Samsung, LG, Vizio, Xbox Series X|S, iPhone and iPad, Android phones, and the Chrome and Safari browsers. USip recorded the four videos below in September 2021. Their USip connection steps still hold, but the Sling screens are from 2021, and the phone videos switch the App Store or Google Play country. That part and the sign-up part are out of date, so skip them.

Windows
Windows

Windows: Chrome does the whole job

On a PC, Sling runs in Chrome, so no app store is involved and the only moving parts are the connection, the address and the browser’s cookies. Install OpenVPN Connect, import your USip profile, connect, and check the address before sling.com is even open.

Use a personal machine: a work laptop running its employer’s own VPN puts two tunnels on one computer, and the result means nothing. In the video, follow the connection steps only.

Step by step: the Windows setup guide.

macOS
macOS

macOS: Safari or Chrome, and two settings to look at

Both browsers on Sling’s list run on a Mac. iCloud Private Relay, if it is switched on, can route Safari’s traffic through Apple’s relays, so turn it off for the check or use Chrome.

Then read both lines of the address checker, because a Mac on an Irish fibre line may hold an IPv6 address from your provider next to the U.S. one. The video’s connection steps still apply; its Sling screens do not.

Step by step: the Mac setup guide.

Android
Android

Android: leave out the video’s Play Store step

The Android video changes the phone’s Google Play country to reach the Sling app. Google’s help page now says that to set up a new country or region “you must be in that location”, and that you “must wait at least 90 days” between changes. From Ireland, leave that part out.

If the Sling app is already on the phone, start OpenVPN Connect first and open Sling second. Exempt OpenVPN Connect from battery saving, or a dropped connection will look like a refusal from Sling.

Step by step: the Android setup guide.

iPhone and iPad
iPhone and iPad

iPhone and iPad: no Sling app in the Irish App Store

On 9 October 2026 the Sling app was listed in Apple’s U.S. App Store and not in the Irish one. The iPhone video switches the App Store country, and that part is out of date. Apple’s own page on changing an Apple Account’s country or region sets out its conditions; the change affects the whole account, not one app.

Settle the connection on a laptop first. If the app is already on your iPhone or iPad, connect in OpenVPN Connect before opening Sling, every time.

Step by step: the iOS setup guide.

Televisions, streaming sticks and consoles cannot run OpenVPN Connect, so USip sets them up with Smart DNS. You register your home’s public IP address with USip, then enter the DNS details in the device’s network settings or once on the router. If eir, Virgin Media or another provider later changes that public address, register the new one. The Smart DNS guide has the steps.

A Sling app on a Roku, Fire TV, Samsung or LG set comes from that device’s own store, which follows the device account’s country, and we have not checked those Irish stores. Sky’s and Virgin Media’s own boxes are not on Sling’s supported list.

App stores follow the account, not the connection

Irish app stores and the Sling app

On 9 October 2026 the Sling app was listed in Apple’s U.S. App Store and in none of the eight other national storefronts checked, Ireland’s included. Google Play was not checked country by country, so we make no claim about it.

Apple, Ireland

No listing in the Irish App Store

“Sling: Live TV, Sports & News” (app ID 945077360) is a U.S. App Store listing. The Irish storefront showed no listing for it on 9 October 2026.

Apple Account

The country sits on your account

Which App Store you see depends on your Apple Account’s country or region, not on the network. Apple’s support page on changing it lists the conditions, and the change touches everything on the account.

Google Play

Ninety days, and you must be there

Google’s help page says that to set up a new country or region “you must be in that location”, and that once it is set you have to wait at least 90 days before changing it again.

The browser

Why sling.com comes first

Chrome and Safari are on Sling’s supported list. A browser involves no store and no account country, so it answers the first question — will Sling accept this address? — on its own.

Televisions

Roku, Fire TV and smart-TV stores

These stores follow the device account’s country too. We have not checked their Irish catalogues for Sling, so we make no claim either way.

What we won’t suggest

No invented details

No made-up addresses, borrowed U.S. ZIP codes or unofficial app stores. Apple and Google set the rules for their stores, and this guide keeps to them.

That is why the order on this page is fixed: a laptop browser first, a phone app later, a television last, and account settings only after you have read Apple’s or Google’s own conditions — if at all.

Irish law, stated carefully

VPN software in Ireland: what we found, and what we can’t settle

Two questions are easy to blur: whether VPN software is allowed in Ireland, and whether Sling accepts a particular connection. We can report what we found on the first. The second is Sling’s decision alone.

Irish law

No ban on VPN software that we could find

We have not found an Irish law that bans VPN software as such. We are not lawyers, and this is not legal advice; if your situation turns on it, ask a solicitor.

Irish State advice

The NCSC recommends VPNs to small firms

The National Cyber Security Centre, part of the Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration, tells small businesses: “Use a Virtual Private Network (VPN) whenever outside the office to prevent being exposed to a MitM again.” That is security advice, not a ruling on streaming.

Sling’s side

Lawful is not the same as accepted

Sling decides which connections it serves and can refuse any of them, a residential US IP from USip included. Software being lawful in Ireland does not oblige Sling to accept it.

Rules that are not law can still apply to you. An employer, a college or a hotel can limit what runs on its network or its equipment, so check before installing OpenVPN Connect on a work laptop or using it on a campus network.

What we are not able to judge is how any of this applies to your own circumstances. If it matters — a contract, a job, a dispute — take advice from someone qualified in Irish law, not from a streaming guide.

What people in Ireland ask

Sling TV in Ireland — FAQ

Answers drawn from Sling’s, the leagues’ and the broadcasters’ own pages, ComReg’s figures and the NCSC, all checked on 9 October 2026. Where we could not confirm something, we say so.

Is Sling TV available in Ireland?

No. Sling TV has no Irish version, and the page Sling shows outside the U.S. reads: “Sling TV, a live TV streaming service, is only available in the United States.” When we checked on 9 October 2026, the Sling app was in Apple’s U.S. App Store and not in the Irish one. What a person in Ireland can do is reach Sling through a U.S. address, and Sling then decides whether to accept that address.

Can I watch Sling TV in Ireland?

Only through a U.S. address, and only if Sling accepts it; you can find out in about ten minutes. A residential US IP from USip gives your connection an ordinary U.S. consumer address, so Sling sees a U.S. household rather than an Irish one. Sling still decides which connections it accepts and can refuse any, USip’s included, so we do not promise access. Start with one Freestream channel in a private browser window on a laptop.

Where can I watch the NFL in Ireland in 2026?

The NFL’s own page for the UK and Ireland names three outlets. Virgin Media Television shows at least 22 games a season on its free-to-air channels and Virgin Media Play, including 18 Sunday 9 p.m. games, three play-off games and the Super Bowl, in a deal running to 2028. Sky Sports shows more than half of all games, and DAZN’s NFL Game Pass carries every game, with some blackouts in Ireland.

Is there an NFL game in Dublin in 2026?

No. The NFL’s games in Europe in 2026 are in London, Paris, Madrid and Munich. Croke Park hosted a regular-season game on 28 September 2025, the Pittsburgh Steelers against the Minnesota Vikings, and The Irish Times reported in February 2026 that the league would not schedule a Dublin game this year. Games in Europe are shown in Ireland by the Irish rights holders.

Where can I watch the NBA in Ireland?

Under deals that began in 2025–26, Sky Sports shows 100 regular-season games a season here and Prime Video adds prime-time games. For 2026–27 the NBA says Prime Video streams its Paris game on 14 January and its first regular-season game in Manchester on 17 January. In the U.S. the national games are on ABC and ESPN, NBC and Peacock, and Prime Video; Sling carries ESPN in Orange and Essentials.

Is Sling Freestream available in Ireland?

Not as an Irish service. Freestream is Sling’s free tier, with adverts — in Sling’s words, a way to “watch shows, movies, and news for free” — and it sits behind the same U.S.-only rule as the rest of Sling. Because it needs no plan, it makes the most useful first check from Ireland: if a Freestream channel plays on a laptop with the USip connection, the location side is settled for that session.

Which Sling plan has ESPN?

Two plans list ESPN on Sling’s compare page: Sling Orange, next to CNN, TNT and TBS, and Sling Essentials, launched nationwide on 9 April 2026 with Disney Channel, Freeform and Grit. NFL Network sits in Sling Select, which arrived in August 2025. Plans are Sling’s and change over time, so check the compare page; USip supplies only the connection.

Does USip include a Sling TV subscription?

No. USip and Sling TV are separate services. A USip plan gives you one residential U.S. IP address for your connection and nothing more. The Sling account, any plan, the channels in it and the rights to every game belong to Sling and the rights holders, and Sling can refuse any connection. USip does not sign you up to Sling or run a Sling account for you.

Can I watch Sling TV on my TV in Ireland?

Possibly, but leave it until a laptop works. Televisions, sticks and consoles can’t run OpenVPN Connect, so USip uses Smart DNS: you register your home’s public IP address with USip and enter the DNS details on the device or once on the router. The Sling app has to come from the device’s own store, which follows its account country. Sky’s and Virgin Media’s boxes are not on Sling’s supported list.

Can I choose which U.S. local channels Sling gives me?

No. Sling’s compare page promises only “Local channels in select markets like ABC, NBC, FOX, and more.” Which market applies depends on the U.S. address Sling sees, and USip assigns that address, with no list of cities or states to work through, so the local stations, if Sling offers any, come with it. A Steelers fan in Cork cannot ask for Pittsburgh’s local channels this way.

Is it legal to use a VPN in Ireland?

We have not found an Irish law that bans VPN software as such, and Ireland’s National Cyber Security Centre advises small firms to use a VPN whenever they work outside the office. We are not lawyers, though, and this is not legal advice. Employers, colleges and hotels can set their own rules for their networks. Whether Sling accepts a connection is a separate question, and the answer is Sling’s.

What time do NFL games start in Ireland?

For most of the 2026 season, Sunday’s early games kick off at 6:00 p.m. in Dublin, the late games at 9:25 p.m., Sunday night’s game at 1:20 a.m. on Monday and Monday night’s at 1:15 a.m. on Tuesday. From 25 to 31 October 2026 everything is an hour earlier, because Ireland changes its clocks a week before the U.S. does.

Can I watch CNN or Fox News in Ireland without Sling?

CNN International, CNBC and Bloomberg are on Sky’s Irish line-up, on channels 506, 504 and 505 in RXTV’s list reviewed on 8 June 2026. Fox News is not on that list. CNN International is a different channel from the U.S. CNN. On Sling, CNN is in Sling Orange, and Fox News is in Sling Blue and Sling Select.

The Sling TV hub, and the guides for seven other countries

The hub covers Sling’s plans, the check and the messages once, for every country. The other seven guides look at the same questions from Canada, the UK, Germany, Australia, the UAE, the Netherlands and Switzerland, each with its own rights holders, clocks and networks.

Sling TV in seven other countries

Irish screens first, then one Freestream channel

For most Irish fans of U.S. sport, the first stop is already in the house. Virgin Media Television, Sky Sports and DAZN hold the NFL here for 2026, Sky Sports and Prime Video share the NBA, and Sky’s Irish line-up carries CNN International. If that covers what you watch, you need nothing from Sling or from us.

If what you miss is the U.S. channels themselves — ESPN as Americans see it, the U.S. CNN, Fox News, NFL Network — those live on Sling, and Sling is U.S.-only. A residential US IP gives you a U.S. household address for the ten-minute Freestream check. Sling decides the rest.

USip supplies the residential U.S. IP connection only. Sling TV plans, channels and decisions about any connection are Sling’s, and the Irish rights to every game belong to the broadcasters named above.
