Partners in the U.S. and its territories
The Google Play line quoted at the top of this page limits Starz’s online services to partners in the U.S. and certain U.S. territories. There is no German edition to switch to.
Short answer: Starz is not offered in Germany. Its own Google Play listing puts it in one sentence: “STARZ online services are only accessible through participating partners in the U.S. and certain U.S. territories”. The STARZ app is missing from the German App Store as well; we looked on 10 October 2026. Starz did once run a service of its own here — STARZPLAY from 2018, renamed Lionsgate+ in 2022 — but it closed in Germany on 31 March 2023. A Lionsgate+ channel does exist on Prime Video today, but it is Lionsgate’s, not Starz’s.
The series people look for did not vanish with Starz’s service; they are licensed to German services. According to the latest reports we found, Netflix Germany has Outlander’s first seven seasons, and the final season has been on Prime Video since Saturday 7 March 2026, though not as part of the Prime subscription. The prequel Outlander: Blood of My Blood is exclusive to Telekom’s MagentaTV, Spartacus: House of Ashur is in Prime Video’s subscription, and the Power series sit on Amazon’s MGM+ channel. The first table below has the dates and sources.
If you already hold a Starz subscription, perhaps from years in the U.S., the first thing to do is a ten-minute check, before any sign-up. On a laptop, switch on the USip residential U.S. IP, go to starz.com in a browser and let one episode run for a minute. The decision is Starz’s: it can turn down any connection, including USip’s, and the check simply shows you which way it goes.

No German service is called Starz, yet most of its well-known series have a German home. Each row gives the latest dated report we found — first-party pages where they exist, German trade press otherwise — all read on 10 October 2026.
| Series | Where it is in Germany (latest dated report, read 10 October 2026) | Compared with Starz in the U.S. |
|---|---|---|
| Outlander, seasons 1 to 7 | Netflix. Season 7 was complete there from 31 March 2025 (kino.de), and a May 2026 report lists seven seasons on Netflix (giga, 19 May 2026). | A Starz original. Its eighth and final season premiered on Starz on Friday 6 March 2026 (TV Insider). |
| Outlander, season 8 (the final season) | Prime Video, from Saturday 7 March 2026, one day after the U.S., but outside the Prime subscription. Netflix had named no date by 19 May 2026 (giga), and we could not confirm one since. | On the STARZ app at midnight Eastern Time on Friday 6 March 2026 (Parade). |
| Outlander: Blood of My Blood | MagentaTV, as an exclusive: season 1 since August 2025, season 2 from Saturday 19 September 2026, which Deutsche Telekom describes as simultaneous with the U.S. premiere (Telekom, 15 July 2026). | Season 2 premiered on Starz on Friday 18 September 2026 (BroadwayWorld). |
| The Power series: Power, Ghost, Raising Kanan, Force | Amazon’s MGM+ channel inside Prime Video. The second half of Ghost’s fourth season started there on 8 September 2024, and Serienjunkies named MGM+ as the franchise’s German home again in November 2025 and June 2026. For Raising Kanan’s final season no German date had been set on 12 June 2026. Next comes Netflix: TheWrap reported on 27 July 2026 that the original Power and its spin-offs Ghost, Raising Kanan and Force are coming to Netflix internationally from November 2026, in a non-exclusive deal with Lionsgate Television, and named only the U.S. and Canada as left out. We found no German date. | Raising Kanan’s fifth and final season began on Starz on Friday 12 June 2026; Force’s third and final season on Friday 7 November 2025 (Serienjunkies). Starz stays the American home of the Power universe, and from November the original Power is due on Netflix in the U.S. as well (TheWrap). |
| P-Valley | In the Prime Video subscription, according to the streaming listing of the TV magazine prisma (updated 17 September 2026). We could not confirm this on Amazon’s own page. | A Starz original with two seasons so far, 2020 and 2022 (prisma). The third and final season, nine episodes long, is due to open on Starz with two episodes on Friday 4 December 2026 (TVLine, 10 September 2026). |
| BMF | MGM+: season 2 arrived there as an exclusive on 1 June 2023 (areaDVD, 31 May 2023). We could not confirm where the later seasons are now. | Ended on Starz in 2025. |
| Spartacus: House of Ashur | Prime Video, in the Prime subscription, from Saturday 6 December 2025: two episodes first, then one a week (Serienjunkies, 3 December 2025). | Premiered on Starz on Friday 5 December 2025. TechRadar noted on 2 January 2026 that its episodes air on the Starz channel in the evening and reach the app the next day. |
| Older Starz series: Spartacus, Black Sails, Party Down, Boss, Sweetbitter | In December 2024 a smaller Lionsgate+ came back as a Prime Video channel carrying these and other older titles (Wunschliste, 13 December 2024). On 10 October 2026 Lionsgate’s own page still listed Germany for Lionsgate+, as an add-on channel to Amazon Prime Video; which of these titles, or which Starz series, it carries now we could not confirm. | Older Starz titles; we did not check which of them the STARZ app carries today. Lionsgate+ is Lionsgate’s channel, and Lionsgate has been separate from Starz since 7 May 2025. |
The pattern is easy to follow. When Lionsgate+ closed in 2023, Amazon merged it with its own MGM channel into MGM+, and that channel secured most of the Starz catalogue (Wunschliste) — the Power series are still there for now. The newest titles went elsewhere: Deutsche Telekom took the Outlander prequel for MagentaTV, Prime Video put House of Ashur into its subscription, and Outlander’s final season reached Prime Video outside the Prime subscription, with no subscription service naming a date for it by May 2026.
One distinction matters when you search. MGM+ is Amazon’s channel, not Starz, and the same goes for Netflix, MagentaTV and Prime Video: they carry Starz series under German licences, and a subscription to any of them gives you nothing on starz.com.
Catalogues change, sometimes in the middle of a season. Every row above was read on 10 October 2026, and several rest on reports from 2025 or earlier in 2026. Open the German service’s own page before you plan an evening around a series.

Starz ran a German service of its own for almost five years. This is the timeline as the companies and the German trade press reported it.
| When | What happened in Germany | Reported by |
|---|---|---|
| 24 May 2018 | STARZPLAY started as a channel inside Prime Video, in Germany and the UK on the same day. | Amazon press release, May 2018 |
| By September 2022 | Besides the Prime Video channel, STARZPLAY was offered on its own website, in apps for Android and iPhone, and as a channel on Apple TV. | fernsehserien.de, 28 September 2022 |
| 29 September 2022 | STARZPLAY was renamed Lionsgate+. | fernsehserien.de, 28 September 2022 |
| 3–4 November 2022 | Lionsgate said it would pull Lionsgate+ out of Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Nordics, the Benelux and Japan. German sites did not yet know when it would go offline or where the series would land. | StreamTV Insider and mobiflip, 4 November 2022 |
| 31 March 2023 | Lionsgate+ left Germany. | Wunschliste, 13 December 2024 |
| April 2023 | Amazon’s MGM+ International channel opened in Germany, merging the old MGM channel with Lionsgate+. An Amazon–Lionsgate deal for Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands brought it the Power series, BMF and Black Sails. | giga, 15 April 2023; Digital TV Europe, 6 April 2023 |
| December 2024 | A smaller Lionsgate+ returned as a Prime Video channel with older series such as Spartacus and Black Sails. | Wunschliste, 13 December 2024 |
| 10 October 2026 | Lionsgate’s own Lionsgate+ page lists Germany as one of 18 countries; here the channel is an add-on to Amazon Prime Video. | Lionsgate, read 10 October 2026 |
What German subscribers were told in 2023 we could not establish: none of the reports we read quotes a notice to customers, so we leave that gap open rather than guess. One more detail is on record: Lionsgate+ was meant to be added to Sky in Germany, a plan the exit overtook (giga, 15 April 2023). The name itself lives on. Starz has been a separate company from Lionsgate since 7 May 2025, so the Lionsgate+ channel in Prime Video today is Lionsgate’s, not Starz’s; Wunschliste described its 2024 return as a home for older, non-exclusive Lionsgate Studios titles, and Lionsgate’s own page adds: “The content availability may vary by location.”
Starz is an American pay-TV network with its own streaming service. Since 7 May 2025 it has been independent of Lionsgate. Six facts that matter from Germany:
The Google Play line quoted at the top of this page limits Starz’s online services to partners in the U.S. and certain U.S. territories. There is no German edition to switch to.
Starz completed its separation from Lionsgate and began trading on Nasdaq as STRZ. It reported about 20 million subscribers in the U.S. and Canada at the end of 2024.
Americans watch in the STARZ app and on starz.com, through a TV provider, or as a Prime Video channel. Starz Help says channel subscribers watch in the Prime Video app; their Amazon sign-in does not work in the STARZ app.
Starz Help: “You can stream on up to 4 different devices at once.” A fifth stream brings an error message in the app.
The Google Play listing mentions offline viewing through downloads. Downloads need the app, and from Germany the app is the hard part.
Starz Help: “STARZ provides a live stream on our website.” It sits behind the same U.S.-only rule as everything else on starz.com.
Canada is the exception people sometimes mention: there Starz is a separate channel that Bell Media runs under licence. We found no Starz-branded service in Germany in October 2026. The series reach German viewers through the licences in the first table, and Starz’s own streaming service is the U.S. one.

In the U.S., new episodes usually reach the STARZ app at midnight Eastern Time on the release day; that is how Outlander’s final season arrived on Friday 6 March 2026 (Parade). Some series air first on the Starz channel in the evening and reach the app the next day. Worked out with the official time-zone rules, a Friday midnight release in New York falls as follows in Berlin.
| Weeks | Midnight ET on a Friday, in Berlin | Berlin ahead of New York by |
|---|---|---|
| Until Saturday 24 October 2026 | Friday 06:00 | 6 hours |
| 25 to 31 October 2026 | Friday 05:00 | 5 hours |
| 1 November 2026 to 13 March 2027 | Friday 06:00 | 6 hours |
| 14 to 27 March 2027 | Friday 05:00 | 5 hours |
| From 28 March 2027 | Friday 06:00 | 6 hours |
The two short spells come from the clocks: Germany changes on 25 October 2026 and 28 March 2027, the U.S. on 1 November 2026 and 14 March 2027. An evening premiere on the Starz channel — 9 p.m. Eastern on a Friday, for example — is 03:00 on Saturday in Berlin, or 02:00 in those weeks. Saturday is also when the German partners have tended to start: MagentaTV with Blood of My Blood on 9 August 2025, Prime Video with House of Ashur on 6 December 2025 and with Outlander’s final season on 7 March 2026.
For most of the year a midnight U.S. release reaches Berlin at 06:00 on Friday, early enough for an episode before work.
From 25 to 31 October 2026 the same release lands at 05:00, because Germany has left summer time and the U.S. has not yet.
From 14 to 27 March 2027 it is 05:00 again, as the U.S. moves its clocks first. On 28 March the usual 06:00 returns.
When a series airs on the Starz channel first, the app episode can follow a day later. If 06:00 brings nothing, look again on Saturday.
MagentaTV and Prime Video began their Starz series on Saturdays in 2025 and 2026, a day after the American Fridays.
Raising Kanan’s final season had no German date in June 2026, and Netflix had none for Outlander’s final season in May. We could not confirm either since.
Every German line, at home or on the phone, comes with a German IP address, and a website can look up the country and the network behind it. The market figures are the Bundesnetzagentur’s, from its Jahresbericht Telekommunikation 2025, published in June 2026.
Deutsche Telekom’s own customers accounted for 39.1% of them; competitors such as Vodafone, 1&1, O2 and regional fibre companies shared the remaining 60.9%.
That made 16.5% of active broadband lines, mostly fibre all the way into the home; DSL lines were still 58.5%.
Nine in ten active SIM profiles, machine-to-machine SIMs excluded, were with the four network operators: Telekom, Vodafone, Telefónica (O2) and 1&1. 1&1 had moved its customers onto its own network by the end of 2025.
The lookup happens before any sign-in, so Starz sees a German connection whichever account you hold and whichever of these companies runs your line.
Your provider’s name matters less than one technical detail. A line can carry two addresses at once, an older IPv4 one and a newer IPv6 one. When the USip connection handles only IPv4 traffic, a site that also speaks IPv6 can be reached directly over your German line, and then it is your German provider the site sees, not the U.S. address. Step 1 of the check below looks at both addresses for exactly this reason.
On a phone, order matters. Connect USip first and open starz.com or any Starz link afterwards, because mobile data from Telekom, Vodafone, O2 or 1&1 also arrives with a German address.
Four starting points and what each probably looks like to Starz. These are likelihoods, not promises; the decision is always Starz’s.
| Connection | What Starz is likely to see | In practice |
|---|---|---|
| Your own German line | Your provider’s German address, with the provider’s name attached. | No access: Starz keeps its online services to the U.S. and certain U.S. territories. |
| A free VPN app | Typically a server address in a data centre, used by crowds of people at once. | Easy to spot. The BSI adds that free VPN apps often do little and may rely on their users’ data. |
| A commercial VPN on hosting servers | An address belonging to a hosting firm, in the country you picked. | IP databases list such address blocks as hosting ranges, and a service that restricts viewing by country may reject them. |
| USip’s residential U.S. IP | A single U.S. home address from a U.S. internet provider; USip assigns it. | It looks like an ordinary American household. Starz may still say no, and USip cannot overrule it. |
A single U.S. address and a single connection at a time, nothing more.
When Starz turns an address down, the decision belongs to Starz, and we will not dress it up.

Do this once, on a laptop, before committing to anything. It answers the single question within USip’s reach: will Starz accept your address?
Launch OpenVPN Connect and connect using your USip profile, then load any IP lookup site. The IPv4 result has to show a U.S. location. Should an IPv6 address appear as well, it must not belong to Telekom, Vodafone, O2, 1&1 or any other German provider; if it does, sort that out first, asking USip support where necessary.
A new private window starts without the cookies of earlier visits made from your German address. Use an up-to-date browser on the laptop, not a phone or TV, for this first look.
With a direct Starz account, sign in on starz.com. If your Starz comes as an Amazon channel, watch through Prime Video instead, because Amazon sign-ins do not work in the STARZ app. Let one episode run for a full minute. Without a subscription, only check that starz.com opens its U.S. home page.
If the episode keeps playing, the connection side is settled. If an error or a location message appears, write it down word for word, reconnect once and try once more. If it returns, send the exact wording to USip support. Repeating the attempt ten times will not change the result.
For USip’s own dated records, see USip’s published checks; this guide does not quote them. Whatever a check showed on one day, Starz can change which connections it accepts on the next.

The four videos below date from September 2021, when USip recorded them. What they show about the USip connection is still valid. Starz’s screens have changed since, the phone videos switch the App Store or Google Play country, and all four show an old Starz sign-up; those parts are out of date, so leave them out.

The video’s USip steps — installing OpenVPN Connect, importing your USip profile, connecting — are still accurate. After that, follow the four steps above in your browser. Skip the video’s Starz sign-up section: it shows the 2021 pages and an approach this guide no longer describes.
Step by step: the Windows setup guide.

The Mac video’s USip part is still correct: OpenVPN Connect, your profile, connect. Starz then opens in the browser. Treat the 2021 Starz screens as illustration only, and leave out the sign-up part entirely.
Step by step: the Mac setup guide.

Follow the video as far as OpenVPN Connect and your USip profile go, and leave out its Google Play country change. Google’s help page says a new Play country can only be set up while you are in that country, and that you must then wait at least 90 days before changing again. Your first check belongs on a laptop.
Step by step: the Android setup guide.

The USip steps are unchanged: OpenVPN Connect, your profile, connect. When we looked on 10 October 2026, Apple listed the STARZ app in its U.S. store only; the German store did not have it. Skip the video’s change of App Store country. Apple decides the conditions for moving an Apple Account between countries and regions, and explains them on the support page in our sources.
Step by step: the iOS setup guide.
A television, a streaming stick or a games console has no OpenVPN Connect app, so these devices use USip’s Smart DNS instead. You register the public IP address of your home connection with USip and type the DNS details into the device’s network settings, or into the router once for everything behind it. If your home connection gets a new public address from the provider, update the registration with USip. The Smart DNS guide walks through it.
Starz Help names Apple TV, Android TV, Roku, Samsung TV and Xbox for its TV app, as well as Amazon’s Fire TV. A set configured for Germany uses German app stores, and we have not checked whether those list the STARZ app.

One residential U.S. IP — an ordinary consumer address on a U.S. ISP, not a server range. USip and Starz are separate services: the plans include the connection only — not a Starz subscription, an app-store region or the rights to any series or film.
Separate services: these prices are for the USip residential U.S. IP service only. Starz is a separate service; a Starz subscription and access to any particular series or film are not part of a USip plan.
On 10 October 2026 Apple’s U.S. App Store carried the STARZ app from Starz Entertainment, and the German store did not. So this guide begins in a browser.
Apple runs one App Store per country, and a German Apple Account opens the German one, which did not carry the STARZ app when we looked.
Apple decides when an Apple Account may switch country or region, and publishes the conditions itself on a support page listed in the sources. Read them there.
Google allows a new Play country only while you are in that country, and then no further change for 90 days. We did not check the German Play Store for the STARZ app.
Apple TV, Android TV, Roku, Samsung TV, Xbox and Fire TV. A device set up for Germany uses German stores; Smart DNS alters the route of the connection and does nothing to the store.
A browser needs nothing from any store. If an episode plays on your laptop, the connection question is answered before a store question arises.
The 2021 videos change store countries, and this guide drops that. Nor do we suggest made-up addresses, borrowed U.S. postcodes or app stores other than Apple’s and Google’s.
This is not legal advice, and we are not lawyers. What follows is what official German sources say, and where they fall silent.
We are not aware of any German law that prohibits VPN software in itself. The federal IT-security office, the Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik (BSI), treats a VPN as an everyday privacy tool: its consumer page recommends one for reaching your home network from outside and for public Wi-Fi.
The same page adds two cautions. Choosing a VPN provider is a question of trust, because everything you send crosses that provider’s servers; and free VPN apps tend to do little and may rely on what they learn about their users. Neither caution is law, but both are worth applying to any connection service, USip’s included.
Netflix, Prime Video, MagentaTV and Amazon’s MGM+ channel show Starz series in Germany under German licences. Watching there raises no question about where you are.
Starz alone decides whether to accept a connection, under rules we do not interpret for you. And an American address does not alter where you actually live.
Laws and their interpretation can shift. If your own case needs a firm answer, a lawyer or a Verbraucherzentrale, one of Germany’s consumer advice centres, can give one.
Short answers that stand on their own, checked on 10 October 2026.
No. Starz’s own Google Play listing says “STARZ online services are only accessible through participating partners in the U.S. and certain U.S. territories”, and the STARZ app was not in the German App Store on 10 October 2026. Starz’s international service, STARZPLAY and later Lionsgate+, closed in Germany on 31 March 2023; the Lionsgate+ add-on channel listed for Germany today belongs to Lionsgate, not Starz. Its series are now licensed to German services such as Netflix, Prime Video, MagentaTV and Amazon’s MGM+ channel.
STARZPLAY started here on 24 May 2018 as a Prime Video channel and was renamed Lionsgate+ on 29 September 2022. Lionsgate announced its exit in November 2022, and the service closed here on 31 March 2023. In April 2023 Amazon merged it into its MGM+ channel, which secured most of the Starz catalogue. A smaller Lionsgate+ came back as a Prime Video add-on channel in December 2024, and Lionsgate’s own page still listed Germany on 10 October 2026. That channel is Lionsgate’s, separate from Starz since 7 May 2025, and we could not confirm which titles, or which Starz series, it carries now.
In the latest reports we found, Netflix Germany has seasons 1 to 7; season 7 was complete there from 31 March 2025. The final, eighth season has been on Prime Video since Saturday 7 March 2026, a day after its U.S. premiere, but it is not part of the Prime subscription. Netflix had not named a date for it by 19 May 2026 (giga), and we could not confirm one since.
On MagentaTV, Deutsche Telekom’s TV service, as an exclusive. Season 1 has been there since August 2025, and Telekom announced season 2 for Saturday 19 September 2026, at the same time as the U.S. premiere (Telekom press release, 15 July 2026). In the U.S. the prequel is a Starz series; its second season started there on Friday 18 September 2026.
For now they sit on MGM+, Amazon’s channel inside Prime Video; German trade reports named it as the franchise’s home in November 2025 and June 2026, when no German date was set for Raising Kanan’s final season. Netflix is next. TheWrap reported on 27 July 2026 that the original Power and the spin-offs Ghost, Raising Kanan and Force are coming to Netflix internationally from November 2026, naming only the U.S. and Canada as left out. We found no German date. The upcoming spin-offs Power: Origins and Power: Legacy are not part of it.
Spartacus: House of Ashur is in the Prime Video subscription in Germany, from Saturday 6 December 2025. The TV magazine prisma lists P-Valley in the Prime Video subscription (17 September 2026); we could not confirm that on Amazon’s own page. BMF’s second season came to MGM+ on 1 June 2023, and we could not confirm where its later seasons are now. P-Valley’s third and final season starts on Starz in the U.S. on Friday 4 December 2026; we found no German date. Catalogues change, so check the service’s own page.
No. On 10 October 2026 Apple listed the STARZ app from Starz Entertainment in its U.S. App Store only; the German store did not have it. Apple sets the conditions for moving an Apple Account between countries on its own support page, and Google permits a new Play country only while you are in it, with a 90-day wait before the next change. That is why this guide starts in a laptop browser.
It may or may not; only a short check will show you. On a laptop, switch on the USip residential U.S. IP and confirm that no IPv6 address names your German provider. Then open starz.com in a private window and play one episode from a Starz subscription you already have. A minute of steady playback settles the connection side. If an error or location message appears instead, copy its wording exactly, reconnect once, retry once, and send that wording to USip support. Starz may refuse any connection, including USip’s.
No. USip and Starz are separate services. A USip plan is a residential U.S. IP connection and nothing else: no Starz subscription, no app-store region, no rights to any series. Whether Starz accepts the connection is Starz’s decision, and which series it offers is Starz’s business too. USip’s part is the address, and support when the connection itself is the problem.
Starz Help says: “You can stream on up to 4 different devices at once.” Going beyond that brings an error in the app, and Starz also limits how many devices can be registered to one account, asking you to remove old ones when you reach the limit. On the USip side, a plan includes one simultaneous VPN connection in OpenVPN Connect; televisions and sticks use Smart DNS through your registered home address instead.
Possibly, but two things have to work. First the connection: a TV, stick or console has no OpenVPN Connect app, so USip’s Smart DNS is the route — give USip your home’s public IP address, then enter the DNS details on the device or on the router. Then the app: Starz names Apple TV, Android TV, Roku, Samsung TV, Xbox and Fire TV, yet a device set up for Germany uses German app stores, which we have not checked. A laptop is the better place to start.
Usually at midnight Eastern Time on the release day: 06:00 on a Friday in Berlin for most of the year, and 05:00 from 25 to 31 October 2026 and from 14 to 27 March 2027. Some series reach the app only the day after their channel premiere. German partners have tended to start a day later, on Saturdays, as Prime Video did with Outlander’s final season on 7 March 2026.
No. MGM+ is Amazon’s channel inside Prime Video in Germany, and it secured most of the Starz catalogue when Lionsgate+ closed in 2023. It shows Starz series under licence, but it is not Starz, and an MGM+ subscription gives no access to starz.com. The same is true of Netflix, MagentaTV and Prime Video: they carry Starz series, not Starz itself.
We are not aware of any German law that prohibits VPN software in itself. The BSI, Germany’s federal IT-security office, even recommends a VPN for ordinary tasks like reaching your home network from outside or working on public Wi-Fi. This is not legal advice; we are not lawyers. A service may still turn away connections it does not want, but that is the service’s own rule, not German law.

For Starz from anywhere outside the U.S., start with the hub. Each country guide checks its own market: where Starz’s series went after the local closure, local release times and local rules.
First-party pages come first — Starz, Amazon, Lionsgate, Deutsche Telekom, German authorities, Google and Apple — then the trade press. All were read on 9 or 10 October 2026; dates in the labels are publication dates. Other reports are named, with their dates, where the page uses them.
For most viewers in Germany the series are already here under German licences: Outlander on Netflix and, for the final season, on Prime Video; the prequel on MagentaTV; the Power series on Amazon’s MGM+ channel; House of Ashur in Prime Video’s subscription. Start there; nothing about your location needs explaining.
A residential U.S. IP matters if you already have a U.S. Starz subscription — from years in the U.S., say — and want to keep using it from Germany. In that case do the ten-minute check once, on a laptop, and note any message Starz shows word for word. USip support can do far more with the exact wording than with a description of it.
USip supplies the residential U.S. IP connection only. Starz’s service, its catalogue and its decisions about connections are Starz’s, and the German licences belong to the German services.
