Type the full name of the series or film. Disney describes the Hulu shelf as “a large library of current and past TV shows, films and documentaries”, so one search costs nothing and may settle the matter.
The Hulu tile arrived in 2025. The U.S. service did not.
How to Watch Hulu in Bulgaria
Short answer: Hulu, the American streaming service, is sold in the United States and nowhere else, so there is no Bulgarian sign-up. What Bulgaria does have is a tile with the Hulu name inside Disney+, the service that arrived here on 14 June 2022. That tile replaced the old Star section on 8 October 2025, and Disney’s own Bulgarian page warns that “Hulu content availability may vary by region.”
If what you want is your own U.S. Hulu — the account you kept after studying, working or living in the States — two things have to be true together: a U.S. Hulu plan that includes the title, and a connection Hulu accepts as an American household. The Hulu tile in Bulgarian Disney+: four checks first
Disney+ launched in Bulgaria on 14 June 2022, in the week Disney said it had reached 60 countries across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Its general-entertainment section was called Star until 8 October 2025, when Disney made Hulu its entertainment brand in international markets. So a Bulgarian Disney+ household already opens a tile called Hulu — and that tile is the first place to look.
Take Disney’s own caveat seriously
The same Bulgarian page adds that “Hulu content availability may vary by region.” The shelf you see in Sofia is licensed for Bulgaria, and a title that sits on Hulu in Chicago may simply not be on it.
Know which Disney+ plan the household has
Disney’s Bulgarian page lists two streams at a time on Standard and four on Premium, with downloads on up to ten devices on both. The Hulu tile comes with either plan — it is part of Disney+, not an extra.
Stop if the title is there
If the search finds it, you are done: it is legal, local and needs no change to your connection. The rest of this page is for titles found only on U.S. Hulu, watched through a U.S. account you already hold.

What Hulu’s rules mean for a Bulgarian address
Hulu states its territory rules in plain words, and they answer most Bulgarian questions before any technology comes into it. The middle column is Hulu’s wording, unchanged; the right-hand column is what it means here.

Read in order, those sentences describe the realistic reader of this page. It is not someone signing up from Bulgaria, which Hulu does not allow. It is someone who already holds a U.S. account — a Bulgarian back from years in the States, or an American living here — and wants to know what, if anything, can be done from this side of the Atlantic.
Hulu’s terms also ask subscribers not to use “any technology or technique to obscure or disguise your location.” A residential U.S. IP changes the location Hulu reads, which is exactly what that sentence addresses. It belongs here, beside the product, rather than in small print — read it and decide with it in view.

Disney+ did not arrive in an empty market. Economic.bg, citing JustWatch figures for the end of 2021, ranked Netflix first among streaming services in Bulgaria, ahead of HBO Go, Prime Video and Apple TV+. Before reaching for an American account, search what the household already has.

Two thousand providers, one answer
Why every Bulgarian internet provider reads as Bulgaria
Bulgaria built its internet from many small pieces. At the peak of the provider boom, the Internet Society writes, there were more than 2,000 internet providers for a country of about 6.5 million people. Consolidation has cut that number, yet its 2026 report still counts 676 active networks. To Hulu they all look the same, because the addresses they give Bulgarian customers are registered in Bulgaria.

Two lines deserve a second look. Vivacom and A1 hold almost half of all Bulgarian IPv4 addresses between them. And CETIN Bulgaria, third by market share in the Internet Society’s estimate, holds fewer than 31,000 in its own name — a small pool for a network with about 15% of the market. That suggests its public addresses are shared among many people, although CETIN has not said so.
Sharing matters for Hulu in one specific way. Its help page lists an address “block listed because of previous anonymous proxy use” among the causes of its location error. A shared address carries the history of everyone behind it; a residential U.S. address used by one household carries only yours.
The address counts are RIPE NCC registrations as compiled on 28 September 2026. Bulgaria’s total of 4,178,176 is fewer than one IPv4 address for each of the roughly 6.5 million people the Internet Society cites.

Is your Bulgarian line on IPv6? Check before you test
IPv6 is the newer internet address system. The Internet Society’s 2026 report finds that 20% of users in Bulgaria can reach websites over it, against a European average of 34%. Most Bulgarian homes will never meet the problem below; the ones that do can see a test fail for no visible reason.

Two routes out, two addresses
The device holds an IPv4 and an IPv6 address at once. A connection that carries only IPv4 leaves the IPv6 route alone — and a site answering over IPv6 still sees a Bulgarian network.

This is the majority. The IPv4 line on an address checker is then the complete picture, and a United States result there settles the network question.
Telling them apart
Read the checker, not the contract
Run an address checker with the connection up. A U.S. IPv4 line sitting above an IPv6 line that names a Bulgarian network is the split to look for.
If you see that split, either use a connection that also covers IPv6, or turn IPv6 off on the test device, and check again before opening Hulu. It also explains a puzzle that otherwise looks random: a laptop and a phone on the same Wi-Fi can get different answers from Hulu because one of them uses IPv6 and the other does not.

Which kind of U.S. address is worth testing with
Getting an address checker to say United States is the easy half. Hulu’s help page names the addresses it distrusts — “a VPN or VPS” — so the type of address counts as much as its country.

Testing U.S. Hulu from Bulgaria, one layer at a time
Tools matter less than order. Each step below removes one possible cause, so that if the last step fails you know which layer failed — the account, the address, the browser or the licence.
Write down what the account should play
Before connecting anything, note the plan — Hulu With Ads, Hulu Premium, a Disney+ bundle or a Live TV plan — and choose one ordinary on-demand episode that plan includes. That episode is your test object. Without it, a refusal in Plovdiv tells you nothing, because a location block and a title the plan never covered look exactly alike.
Use a laptop on the home line, not the television
A laptop browser shows the address, the cookies and Hulu’s answer side by side. Set it up with the Windows guide or the Mac guide. Phones follow once the laptop passes (Android, iOS), and the living-room screen only after that.
Bring the connection up, then read IPv4 and IPv6
Connect first, then open an address checker. The IPv4 line should say United States; the IPv6 line should be empty or American as well. About one Bulgarian user in five has IPv6, and a Bulgarian network named on that line means part of your traffic still leaves from Bulgaria. Only when both lines are right, open hulu.com in a private window.
Play for a full minute and copy any error word for word
If the episode runs for a minute, the network side works. If it does not, the wording decides the next move: P-EDU101 is the error Hulu’s help page ties to proxy addresses; a message about the account’s region points at the app store or the account; a title missing from search is a licence question. Write the message down before you change anything.
A pass on the laptop is the only thing that justifies moving on to phones, and a television — which uses USip’s Smart DNS rather than the app — comes after them. A failure with the exact message written down is nearly as useful: it tells you where to look next.

Browser first, living room last
Hulu on each device in Bulgaria
Every device adds a layer that can fail on its own, and none of them changes what Hulu checks. The Disney+ app with its Hulu tile already runs on Bulgarian phones and televisions; U.S. Hulu is a separate matter, so begin with a laptop browser. The four videos were recorded in December 2022: the connection steps still hold, while Hulu’s own screens have changed since.
Windows
Hulu on Windows: the cleanest first test
Windows puts no app store in the way, which is exactly why it goes first. Import the USip OpenVPN profile, connect, and read both address lines: IPv4 should say United States, and on the one Bulgarian line in five that has IPv6, the IPv6 line must not name a Bulgarian network. Then open hulu.com in a private window — Ctrl+Shift+N in Chrome and Edge, Ctrl+Shift+P in Firefox — so no earlier visit is remembered.

macOS
Hulu on macOS: Safari, IPv6 and Private Relay
On a Mac, two settings can send traffic past the connection. Safari, like most browsers, uses IPv6 when the line offers it, so a Mac on one of Bulgaria’s IPv6 lines can reach Hulu from a Bulgarian address with the tunnel up. And if your Mac shows iCloud Private Relay, switch it off for the test. When Chrome plays and Safari refuses, suspect those two first.

Android
Hulu on Android: the Play Store country decides
Google Play lists apps by the account’s country. A Bulgarian Google account shows Disney+ — the app Disney supports on Android phones and tablets here — but not the U.S. Hulu app. Changing the Play country has knock-on effects on existing purchases and subscriptions, so treat it as its own decision. Also exempt the connection app from battery optimisation, or Android may close the tunnel halfway through an episode.

iPhone and iPad
Hulu on iPhone and iPad: the Apple Account country
Apple shows apps by Apple Account country. A Bulgarian account lists Disney+, which Disney supports on iPhone and iPad, and does not list U.S. Hulu. Changing the account country touches subscriptions and Family Sharing and follows Apple’s own conditions, so it is not a step for the middle of a test. If the Hulu app is already installed, confirm the address in Safari first and keep Location Services off for Hulu during the first run.

Disney lists the TV platforms its Bulgarian app supports — Samsung, LG, Panasonic, Hisense, Android TV, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and Chromecast — so those screens can show the regional Hulu tile today. Hulu sells add-ons — Español, Entertainment, Sports and Unlimited Screens — on top of the base plans. A title outside your plan and a title refused by location look the same until you compare the title with what the account includes.

Apple and Google list the Hulu app by account country, not by network. Moving an account to the U.S. store affects other subscriptions and purchases and outlasts any test — so prove everything in a browser first.

Sofia against New York
Following U.S. schedules on Bulgarian time
Bulgaria keeps Eastern European Time: two hours ahead of UTC in winter and three in summer, with clocks moving on the last Sundays of March and October — 29 March and 25 October in 2026. When we checked, New York was seven hours behind Bulgaria, which is the usual gap.
American prime time is Bulgaria’s small hours
With a seven-hour gap, 8 p.m. in New York is 3 a.m. in Sofia, Plovdiv or Varna. Plan around on-demand episodes — Live TV is not an option from Bulgaria in any case.
Mind the weeks when the clocks disagree
Bulgaria and North America change their clocks on different weekends. For a short spell in spring and another in autumn the gap is not seven hours, so check a converter if a time matters in March or late October.
Connect first, then open Hulu
Bring the connection up and read the address before the Hulu page or app starts. If Hulu decides your location from the Bulgarian address first, that decision can sit in a cookie and colour the next attempt.
Test speed towards the United States
Hulu asks for roughly 3 Mbps for on-demand video, 8 for live streams and 16 for 4K. A test to a server in Sofia flatters the line; measure with the connection up, towards the U.S.
Hold one U.S. address all evening
Hopping between American locations mid-session makes an account look as if it is travelling. Choose one connection and stay on it until the last episode.
Give the picture two minutes
Streams start at a low bitrate and climb. A soft first minute says nothing about your line; judge quality after two or three minutes of steady playback.
Nothing on this list can promise a result; Hulu decides that. What the list does is make each attempt readable, so a failure points to one cause instead of several.

Is Hulu available in Bulgaria?
Not as a service you can join from here. Hulu’s help centre says it plainly: “The videos on Hulu are only available in the U.S.” What Bulgaria does have, since 8 October 2025, is a tile called Hulu inside Disney+ — a selection licensed for this region that comes with a Disney+ subscription, not the American service.
Is Hulu included in Disney+ in Bulgaria?
The tile is. Disney’s Bulgarian page says the Hulu shows “can be found under the ‘Hulu’ tile in your Disney+ app” and adds that “Hulu content availability may vary by region.” So it is included, but it is Bulgaria’s version of the shelf — search it for the exact title before assuming anything.
Can I use my US Hulu account in Bulgaria?
Hulu’s travel rule stops at the American border: on-demand subscribers “are able to stream anywhere in the U.S. — including Puerto Rico and U.S. military bases.” Bulgaria is outside that. A residential U.S. IP deals with the location half and nothing more — the plan, the rights to each title and Hulu’s freedom to refuse an address all stay where they were.
Why does Hulu say I’m outside the US on Vivacom or A1?
Because the public address really is Bulgarian. Vivacom and A1 hold almost half of all IPv4 addresses registered to Bulgaria, and the hundreds of smaller networks hold Bulgarian addresses too. Hulu reads that address before anything else, so the message is accurate rather than a fault.
Does Hulu work with a small local internet provider in Bulgaria?
No differently from the big ones. Bulgaria once had more than 2,000 internet providers, and the Internet Society still counts 676 active networks in 2026. Local or national, each one gives you a Bulgarian address — so the same four-step test applies to all of them.
My IP checker says USA but Hulu still blocks me — why?
Usually one of three things. An IPv6 address from your Bulgarian provider is still reaching the site; a hulu.com cookie remembers an earlier visit from Bulgaria; or the U.S. address is the kind Hulu names in its help page — “a VPN or VPS” — or one block listed because of previous anonymous proxy use. Read both address lines, clear the cookies, then try one episode again.
Does Hulu + Live TV work in Bulgaria?
No. Hulu says Live TV subscribers are “not able to stream in U.S. territories, on U.S. military bases, or internationally.” That is a rule about the plan itself, so it is the one Hulu product not worth testing from Sofia at all.
What time do new Hulu episodes appear in Bulgaria?
There is no Bulgarian schedule for U.S. Hulu. Titles follow Hulu’s American timetable, and Sofia is usually seven hours ahead of New York — so an evening premiere in the U.S. lands in the Bulgarian small hours. Check the title’s own page rather than trusting a fixed time.
Is IPv6 the reason Hulu fails on my Bulgarian connection?
Sometimes. The Internet Society finds that 20% of users in Bulgaria can reach websites over IPv6. If your line is one of them and the connection you use carries only IPv4, Hulu can still see a Bulgarian address. An address checker with both lines on screen settles it in seconds.
Is it legal to use a VPN in Bulgaria?
We are not lawyers and this is not legal advice. We know of no Bulgarian rule against VPN software, and the Internet Society counted no internet shutdowns in Bulgaria in the twelve months to its 2026 report. Check locally if it matters to you. The rule that applies to Hulu either way is Hulu’s own: subscribers are asked not to use “any technology or technique to obscure or disguise your location.”
Does USip come with a Hulu subscription?
No. USip provides the residential U.S. IP connection only. The Hulu account, its plan and the rights to each title are Hulu’s, and Hulu sells them separately.
Is Hulu going away now that it is inside Disney+?
Not on any announced date. Disney made Hulu the entertainment tile in its international Disney+ apps and told Variety in 2026 it had no current plan to phase out the Hulu app. In the U.S., standalone Hulu is still on sale, with new prices from 23 September 2026.

If the title is in the Disney+ Hulu tile, you are finished — legally, locally and with nothing to install. If it is not, one test answers the rest: connection up, both address lines read, a private window on a laptop, one ordinary episode from your own plan, one full minute.
A pass means the location side is settled, and anything still wrong lives in the account or the licence. A fail with the message written down is almost as good, because it tells you which of those two to look at.
