Short answer: you cannot sign up for Hulu in Sweden, because Hulu sells to American households and no one else. But the name is already on Swedish screens. Since 8 October 2025 the tile inside Disney+ that used to say Star says Hulu, and it comes with a Swedish Disney+ subscription.
The clearest example is Swedish. Koka björn, Disney’s first Nordic drama, arrived on Disney+ here on 15 October 2025 — the day Göteborgs-Posten said it would also reach Hulu in the U.S. Same series, two services, one name. If what you want is on the Swedish tile, stop there: it is legal, simple and already included.
This page is for the other case — a title that exists only on U.S. Hulu, for someone who already has an American account. Swedish Disney+ has had a Hulu tile since 8 October 2025, when Disney replaced Star with Hulu in its apps outside the U.S. A week later Disney released Koka björn on Disney+ in Sweden, on the day it had been announced for Hulu in the United States. One series, two services, one name: the whole confusion in a single example.
Disney’s Swedish site says Hulu sits alongside Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Nat Geo and Star Wars, with Hulu Originals such as All’s Fair, Paradise and Alien: Earth, and that everything there is included in the Disney+ subscription. It is the old Star shelf, renamed and licensed for Sweden.
A separate American service with its own accounts, plans and apps, sold only to U.S. households. Its rights mostly end at the U.S. border, which is why the Swedish tile and the American service show different things under the same logo.
Based on Mikael Niemi’s novel and set in northern Sweden in the summer of 1852, with Gustaf Skarsgård as the priest Lars Levi Læstadius. Göteborgs-Posten reported that every episode would arrive on 15 October 2025, on Hulu in the U.S. and on Disney+ across the rest of Europe.

The pattern matters more than any single row. A series that is on Hulu in America may be under the Swedish Hulu tile, on another Swedish service, or not licensed here at all. Only a search tells you which, and it takes less time than any setup.
If a service you can already get in Sweden has what you want, that is the cheaper and simpler result. Everything below assumes the opposite: a title that only U.S. Hulu carries, and an American account that is already yours.

Hulu never mentions Sweden, and it does not need to. Its help centre and its terms are written around the United States, and everything else follows from that.
The help centre is blunt: “The videos on Hulu are only available in the U.S.” A subscription “is intended for use by members of a single U.S. household,” and one of the conditions for signing up reads: “To be located within the U.S.”
On-demand subscribers “are able to stream anywhere in the U.S. — including Puerto Rico and U.S. military bases.” Live TV subscribers are “not able to stream in U.S. territories, on U.S. military bases, or internationally.” Neither sentence stretches as far as Stockholm.
The service is “only available in the United States and certain of its territories,” and subscribers “may not access the Services from locations where we do not have rights.” Eligibility is narrow too: “Only residents of the countries and territories where we offer the Services … are eligible to subscribe.”
In plain terms: nobody living in Sweden can open a Hulu account from here, and no Swedish subscription turns into an American one. The reader this page can actually help already has a U.S. account — someone sent to Stockholm or Gothenburg by an American employer, an American who settled here, or a Swede who worked or studied in the States and kept the login.
For that reader the question is narrow: can the account behave in Sweden the way it did at home? The honest answer is sometimes — for on-demand titles the plan includes, on a connection Hulu accepts as a U.S. household, for as long as Hulu goes on accepting it.

Hulu works out where you are from your public address. In Sweden that address almost always belongs to one of a few networks, and all of them are registered here — so a line in Malmö, Uppsala or Kiruna produces the same answer.

Sweden holds about 24.5 million IPv4 addresses — the older address format — for 10.6 million people, which is more than two per resident. That takes one excuse off the table: the address on a Swedish line is plainly Swedish, registered to a Swedish operator, and Hulu reads it that way.
Not every Swedish address belongs to a household, either. About 2.1 million, 8.5% of the national total, are registered to Oracle’s Swedish company, a cloud provider. Hosting ranges like that are what Hulu has in view when its help page warns about “a VPN or VPS”: a Swedish or American flag on the address is only part of what Hulu weighs.
The user shares are the Internet Society’s Pulse estimates for 2026; the address counts come from RIPE NCC’s registry as of 28 September 2026. They measure different things, which is why the two columns do not line up exactly.

IPv6 is the newer internet address system, and a line can use it alongside IPv4. The Internet Society counts 29% of Swedish users able to reach sites over IPv6 in 2026 — below the European average of 34%, but far too common to ignore in a test like this one.
A good address checker shows an IPv4 line and an IPv6 line. A U.S. result on the first tells you nothing about the second.
If the IPv6 line shows an address from a Swedish operator, your Swedish location is still visible to any site that answers over IPv6 — and browsers prefer IPv6 whenever it works.
Either let the connection carry IPv6 too, or disable IPv6 in the device’s network settings until the test is over. The goal is a single way out of the house, not two.
Reload the checker. When both lines agree — the U.S. on IPv4, nothing Swedish on IPv6 — you are ready for hulu.com in a private window.
The same detail explains a common puzzle: the laptop plays, the tablet on the same Wi-Fi does not. Check which of the two still speaks IPv6 before suspecting Hulu of being inconsistent.

Getting a checker to print “United States” proves very little. Hulu’s help page is specific about what else trips its location error — “a VPN or VPS,” and addresses “block listed because of previous anonymous proxy use.” In other words, Hulu cares what kind of address it is, not only which country it claims.

Once a plain episode from your plan runs in a private window, you can stop working on the connection.
An account, plan or licence problem is not solved by another address. If the plain-episode test passes, stop changing the network.
This page would be dishonest without the next sentence. Hulu’s Subscriber Agreement asks subscribers not to use “any technology or technique to obscure or disguise your location” — and moving the location Hulu sees is precisely what a residential U.S. IP is for. That clause is between you and Hulu; read it, weigh it, and make the call knowing it is there.

The order is the point. Done in this sequence, a failure tells you which layer failed — the catalogue, the account, the network or the browser — instead of leaving you to guess.
Search the Hulu tile in Swedish Disney+ for the exact title; if it is there, stop. If it is not, sign in to your U.S. Hulu account page and check two things: that the account is active, and that its plan — Hulu With Ads, Hulu Premium, a bundle or Live TV — includes the title. No connection can add what the plan leaves out.
Keep the first run on a single laptop, where the public address, the browser’s stored data and Hulu’s response are all in view. Set the connection up with the Windows guide or the Mac guide. The Android and iOS guides wait until the laptop passes. The television comes last of all: it cannot run the app, so it uses USip’s Smart DNS instead.

Phones bring an app store, and a television cannot run the connection app at all — it uses USip’s Smart DNS instead. So get a clean result in a laptop browser before touching the rest. Almost three in ten Swedish users have IPv6, and Safari uses it whenever the line offers it, so read the IPv6 line before trusting a U.S. result. If iCloud Private Relay is switched on, turn it off for the test — it sends Safari’s traffic through Apple’s relays, a second route you did not choose. A Mac that plays Hulu in Chrome but not in Safari is usually showing you one of these two settings.

Google Play shows the store for your account’s country, so a Swedish account lists Disney+, Hulu tile included, but not the U.S. Hulu app. Moving the account to the U.S. has knock-on effects on apps and subscriptions you already have, which makes it a decision for another day, not something to try mid-test. And take the connection app out of battery optimisation: when Android quietly shuts a tunnel to save power, the result is indistinguishable from Hulu saying no.

Apple offers apps by Apple Account country. A Swedish account gets Disney+ with its Hulu tile; the U.S. Hulu app is a listing in the U.S. store. Moving an Apple Account to another country affects subscriptions and Family Sharing, Apple sets its own conditions, and it has to be done with true details. Televisions, streaming sticks and consoles cannot run the OpenVPN Connect app, so they use USip’s Smart DNS. Sweden runs on Central European Time: one hour ahead of UTC in winter, two in summer. New York is six hours behind Stockholm for most of the year, so American evenings happen while Sweden is asleep.
An 8 p.m. Eastern broadcast starts at 2 a.m. in Stockholm. Live TV is off the table abroad anyway, so treat Hulu as an on-demand service and watch at a Swedish hour.

Live channels, 4K and the extra add-on packages each count as their own entitlement. Until you check the plan, a title it does not include is indistinguishable from a location block — and an address will never add it.
Apple and Google offer the Hulu app by account country, not by connection. Moving a Swedish Apple Account or Google account to the U.S. affects existing subscriptions and purchases, so test in a browser first and decide with evidence.

Search the services you already have before anything else.
We are not aware of any Swedish rule against VPN software itself. Copyright law and each streaming service’s terms are separate matters, and both can change, so confirm the position in Sweden yourself instead of taking a guide’s word for it. Hulu’s terms, with their clause about disguising your location, stand regardless.
Within the EU, yes — and that is exactly why it does not help here. The European Commission’s Your Europe guide says that when you travel to another EU country, you should be able to use the online content subscriptions you have at home on the same terms. That protects your Swedish Disney+, Hulu tile included, on a trip to Spain or Greece. U.S. Hulu is not sold in Sweden or anywhere else in the EU, so there is no home subscription for the rule to carry.
