Hulu in Serbia: the U.S. Service and the Local Tile
Serbia is outside the EU, which removes one rule that people from neighbouring countries often assume applies to them here. There is exactly one country where you can buy Hulu, and it is the United States. Hulu’s own support pages say so without hedging.
Disney+ reached Serbia on 14 June 2022, in the wave that took the service to 60 countries across Europe, the Middle East and Africa — Disney+ available in 60 countries across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (Disney, June 2022). On 8 October 2025 Disney retired the Star name and put Hulu in its place as the general-entertainment brand inside Disney+ worldwide.
It is the same word over a different catalogue — rights are bought country by country, and the U.S. deals do not travel.
This page is written for someone who wants to know what is true before spending anything. It separates the three things people run together — what Hulu sells, what your account is entitled to, and what your connection looks like from Hulu’s side — and it says where our part of it stops.

What is actually behind the Hulu name in Serbia
Disney+ arrived late in Serbia compared with Western Europe, and the local catalogue reflects that: fewer legacy acquisitions, more first-party material. The Hulu tile added in October 2025 inherited whatever Star already held here.
There is no mechanism by which a Serbian subscription becomes a U.S. one. Territory licensing is the whole explanation — the U.S. rights and the Serbian rights are different contracts with different owners.
That is worth being blunt about, because a lot of pages on this subject imply otherwise. Nothing you buy in Serbia upgrades into U.S. Hulu, and no setting inside Disney+ reveals the American library.

Why most U.S. VPN endpoints fail here
Two connections can both say ‘United States’ and behave completely differently: one comes from a server farm, the other from a residential line. Hulu can tell them apart.

Most of the confusion here comes from treating one problem as three, or three as one. These are the three, and they do not overlap.
What Hulu accepts: U.S. credit and debit cards, PayPal, and its own gift cards. Nothing issued outside the United States. Gift cards are sold “at select retail outlets” in the United States and redeemed at hulu.com/gift — which is itself a hulu.com page and reads your location like every other one.
A U.S. account you are already paying for
Nothing here asks you to open anything new. The help centre answers the travel question in terms of the United States. Outside it, Hulu makes no availability commitment. The gap between a paid account and a playing video is the address, and that is the one part we supply.
A local Disney+ login is not a Hulu login
A Disney+ subscription bought in Serbia — including the part now labelled Hulu — is a different account on a different service, and it does not convert. Hulu says the subscription cancels itself when the gift-card balance is spent, unless you have added a payment method by then.
