Hulu from Switzerland, Without the Guesswork
Switzerland was in the very first European wave in March 2020, and it is outside both the EU and the EEA — two facts that change the answer here. On 8 October 2025 Disney retired the Star name and put Hulu in its place as the general-entertainment brand inside Disney+ worldwide.
You cannot buy Hulu anywhere but the United States. There is no international edition, no regional pricing and no local reseller. Disney+ has been available in Switzerland since 24 March 2020 — Disney+ launches in seven European markets (Disney, 24 March 2020).
The confusion is understandable and it is new. Until last autumn nobody in Switzerland saw the word Hulu in a Disney app at all. The catalogue behind that tile is licensed locally. It overlaps with U.S. Hulu in places and misses most of it.
This page is written for someone who wants to know what is true before spending anything. It separates the three things people run together — what Hulu sells, what your account is entitled to, and what your connection looks like from Hulu’s side — and it says where our part of it stops.

A Hulu tile without a Hulu subscription: how Switzerland ended up here
Swiss households have had Disney+ since 24 March 2020. What arrived in October 2025 was a new word on an existing shelf, not a new service.
The reason there is no Hulu subscription to buy is licensing. Content rights are sold per territory; the deals that fill U.S. Hulu were written for the United States. Disney cannot simply switch the U.S. catalogue on in Switzerland, and has never tried to.
It also means the comparison people make — ‘my Disney+ has Hulu now, so why can’t I watch this show’ — has a boring answer. The show is on U.S. Hulu because a U.S. contract put it there. Locally it may be on Play Suisse, blue TV and Zattoo, or on nothing at all.
Hulu’s terms ask you not to conceal or misrepresent where you are. We are not going to pretend otherwise: this is a rule you should read for yourself before you decide.
Address type is the variable, not country
Country alone is not enough. Streaming services keep lists of address ranges that belong to hosting providers, and those get treated differently from home connections.
The tell is the wording. “You appear to be using an anonymous proxy tool”, reference P-EDU101, means the location layer, not the video. From Switzerland that is the difference between a page that plays and one that refuses.

Paying for Hulu from Switzerland: what is and is not possible
Three layers get run together in most write-ups on this subject: where you are, what account you hold, and how it is paid. They fail separately and they are fixed separately.
You can pay with a U.S.-issued Visa, Mastercard, Amex or Discover, with PayPal, or with a Hulu gift card. That is the whole list. Hulu gift cards come from U.S. retailers and are redeemed on hulu.com/gift. That redemption page checks location the same way the rest of the site does.
A U.S. account you are already paying for
Nothing here asks you to open anything new. Travel inside the U.S. is supported. Travel outside it is where the location checks start mattering, and Hulu says as much. The gap between a paid account and a playing video is the address, and that is the one part we supply.
No U.S. account, no U.S. card
Then the connection is not your first problem. Hulu needs a U.S.-issued payment method. Hulu says the subscription cancels itself when the gift-card balance is spent, unless you have added a payment method by then. Nothing USip sells changes that, and we would rather say so now than after you have paid us.
