How to Watch Hulu in Switzerland
Short answer: U.S. Hulu is sold only in the United States, so a Swiss address cannot start a subscription. What Swiss viewers can open is the Hulu tile inside Disney+. Since 8 October 2025 it has stood where Star used to be, and Disney’s Swiss page says plainly that “Hulu content availability may vary by region”.
Readers who need U.S. Hulu itself are usually carrying an account over from life in the States. For them, two conditions apply together: the U.S. plan must include the title, and Hulu must see the connection as an American home. USip supplies the connection, and nothing more.
The Swiss version of the story is mostly about language and about reading a result properly. Swiss lines are fast, IPv4 addresses are plentiful and IPv6 is common without being universal — so when a test fails here, the reason is rarely speed and usually something you can check in a minute.

The Swiss starting point
Swiss Disney+ has a Hulu tile — and a caveat Disney wrote itself
Switzerland was part of Disney+’s March 2020 European launch: the service went live here on 24 March 2020, the same day as Germany. Star, the grown-up entertainment tile, followed on 23 February 2021, and on 8 October 2025 Disney replaced Star with Hulu in its markets outside the U.S. Swiss Disney+ now shows that Hulu tile — with one sentence worth reading twice.

Take the caveat literally. Disney’s page does not say which titles differ from market to market, so the search box is the only reliable guide: tap the Hulu tile in Disney+ and search for the title by its exact name. The name on the tile tells you which shelf you are looking at, not which catalogue is on it.
Swiss coverage of the October 2025 change made a similar point. For subscribers outside the U.S., JVMag wrote, it would be “surtout une mise à jour visuelle” — above all a visual update.
If the title is in the Swiss tile, you are finished — with nothing extra to set up. The rest of the page matters only for a title that U.S. Hulu alone carries, on a U.S. account that is already yours.

Finding a title in your own language
The services sold in Switzerland reflect a country that watches in more than one language. The American one does not — and that is often the best reason to try the Swiss route first.
Through Swisscom TV
Disney+ as an extra TV package
Swisscom sells Disney+ as an add-on package for its TV subscription and lists the languages as “German, French, Italian & English, if available”. The last three words matter: not every title comes in every language.
U.S. Hulu
Made for American homes
Hulu sells one language add-on in the U.S., Español — there is none for German, French or Italian. Check a title’s own menu before you plan an evening around it.
In practice: search the Swiss Hulu tile, then open the episode’s audio and subtitle menu. If the title is there but not in the language you want, U.S. Hulu is unlikely to fix that.
U.S. Hulu is worth the effort for one thing only — titles the Swiss tile does not carry at all, on a U.S. account you already have. It is not a way to get more languages.
Settings in your own language — a German-language Mac, a French-language television — make no difference to where Hulu thinks you are. Only the address does.

What Hulu’s rules mean for someone living in Switzerland
Hulu’s help centre and Subscriber Agreement are short on this point and unusually clear. Here is each relevant sentence beside what it means from Zurich, Geneva or Lugano.

Swisscom, Sunrise, Salt and the rest
What a Swiss connection looks like from Hulu’s side
In the Internet Society’s 2026 figures Swisscom has 46% of the Swiss market, Sunrise 28% and Salt 8%, with smaller Swiss providers behind them. Every one of them hands out Swiss addresses, so the verdict is the same in Zurich, Lausanne or Chur.

Switzerland is also far from short of IPv4 addresses. The registry’s delegation records put about 23.3 million in the country, for about 9.1 million people — more than two each. That is why this page, unlike some in this series, has no section on shared addresses: here the question is which kind of address Hulu receives, not how many people are behind it.
If a setup works at home and fails at the office, the office network is the difference. Employers decide how their traffic leaves the building, and that is not something to fight from a work laptop.

IPv6 on Swiss lines: common, not universal
IPv6, the newer internet address system, runs next to IPv4 on many Swiss connections. In the Internet Society’s 2026 data, 37% of Swiss users can reach online services over it — a little above the European average of 34%. In July 2014, by Google’s count, the figure was 10.68%.

A device with both address types can reach Hulu either way. When the U.S. connection carries only IPv4, the IPv6 route still begins at your Swiss provider — and Hulu, answering over it, sees Switzerland.

iWay, for one, says IPv6 is active by default on all its DHCP connections, over VDSL and Swisscom fibre alike. You can have IPv6 without ever having asked for it.
What to do
Read both lines before opening Hulu
United States on the IPv4 line and nothing Swiss on the IPv6 line is the result you want. If a Swiss IPv6 address appears, turn IPv6 off on that device while you test — or choose a connection that handles IPv6 too.
Because only about a third of Swiss connections use IPv6, two flats in the same building can get different results from an identical setup. That describes their lines, not a mood on Hulu’s side.

What kind of U.S. address is worth having
Choosing a U.S. connection from Switzerland
Any American server will satisfy an address checker. Hulu asks a harder question — what kind of address is this? Its help page counts “a VPN or VPS” among the causes of its location error, along with addresses “block listed because of previous anonymous proxy use.”

Four steps, in an order chosen so that a failure points at one layer — the account, the browser, the address or the licence — rather than at all of them at once.
Read the account page before anything else
Log in to Hulu’s account page and note the tier and whether the subscription is still running. If it lapsed after you left the States, or the tier leaves out the show you want, the network cannot help — and you have just saved yourself an evening.
One laptop, one browser, nothing else
The first attempt belongs on a laptop, where you can see the address, the cookies and Hulu’s reply at once, and no app store is involved. The Windows and Mac guides cover the setup; the Android and iOS guides come next, and the television last.
Bring the connection up and read both address lines
An address checker shows IPv4 and IPv6 separately. IPv4 should read United States; the IPv6 line should be empty or American — not Swisscom, Sunrise, Salt or your local fibre provider. Only then open hulu.com, and do it in a private window so no earlier verdict about Switzerland is reused.
Give one ordinary episode a full minute
Choose a standard on-demand episode that your tier includes — not live, not 4K, not an add-on — and let it play for sixty seconds. If it fails, copy the message exactly: Hulu’s anonymous-proxy error (P-EDU101) is about the address, a title missing from search is about the licence, and a refusal on every device alike is about the account.
If the ordinary episode plays and a particular title still does not, the network part is finished. The remaining question is the tier or the licence, and a different server answers neither.

Start on the laptop; the television comes last
Hulu on each device in Switzerland
Each device brings its own way of saying ‘Switzerland’ — an app-store country, a mobile network, a TV package. Make a laptop browser work first and add the rest one at a time. The four videos date from December 2022: the connection steps are unchanged, Hulu’s screens are not.
Windows
Hulu on Windows — where the Swiss test should begin
Windows has no app-store country in the way, so a failure there is about the connection, the browser or the account and nothing else. Import the USip OpenVPN profile, connect, and look at both address lines. Some Swiss providers switch IPv6 on by default — iWay does on all its DHCP lines — so a Swiss IPv6 address can be present without you ever having asked for one.

macOS
Hulu on macOS — the language setting is not the problem
Whether your Mac runs in German, French or Italian makes no difference to Hulu; the address does. If Chrome plays and Safari refuses on the same Mac, compare the IPv6 line in each browser — about a third of Swiss connections use IPv6, and a Mac on one of them uses it readily. Then open hulu.com in a private window and try again.

Hulu on Android — Google Play, and Disney+ on Swisscom TV
Your Google account’s country decides what Google Play lists, and a Swiss account does not list the U.S. Hulu app — the network has no say in it. Switching countries has knock-on effects for purchases and subscriptions, so weigh it on its own, not during a test. On the television, Swisscom sells Disney+ as a package for its TV subscription — which brings the Hulu tile, not U.S. Hulu.

Hulu on iPhone and iPad — mobile data says Switzerland
A Swiss Apple Account opens the Swiss App Store, wherever the phone happens to be. On the move your phone is almost always on a Swiss mobile network — 5G coverage reached 99% of the population in 2025, by the Internet Society’s count — and every one of them gives it a Swiss address. Speed is rarely the Swiss problem
Fast Swiss lines, and what actually slows Hulu down
The Internet Society’s figures put average Swiss fixed broadband at about 291 Mbps in 2026 and mobile at about 116 Mbps, with 5G coverage reaching 99% of the population in 2025. Hulu’s own guidance is far below that, so a slow stream from Switzerland is almost never your line’s fault.

With the app connected on a laptop or phone, the stream travels to America and back. If the picture stutters, measure the speed with the app still connected: the number that counts is the one to the United States.

Give the picture time to settle
Streaming players start cautiously and raise the quality once the line proves itself. Judge the picture after two or three minutes, not in the first few seconds.
Choose a single U.S. connection for the night and leave it alone. Switching servers halfway through makes the account look as if it is hopping between American cities; if you want to try another, do it tomorrow.

Swiss time, American time
When American evenings arrive in Switzerland
Swiss clocks run on Central European Time, going forward on the last Sunday of March and back on the last Sunday of October; American clocks change on the second Sunday of March and the first Sunday of November. For most of the year New York is six hours behind Zurich and Los Angeles nine; for a week in autumn and two in spring, New York is only five behind.

Live TV is not available from Switzerland on any connection, so none of this is about catching a broadcast. It matters for planning an evening of on-demand episodes. Answered from Hulu’s and Disney’s own pages, Swisscom’s and iWay’s documentation and the Internet Society’s measurements. Where the honest answer is ‘it depends’, we say what it depends on.
Is Hulu available in Switzerland?
Not as something you can subscribe to here. Hulu is sold in the United States only. Swiss Disney+ has carried a Hulu tile since 8 October 2025, but it is a Disney+ catalogue for this market, and Disney’s own page warns that Hulu content “may vary by region”.
Is Hulu on Disney+ Switzerland the same as US Hulu?
No. The tile uses the Hulu name for the shelf that used to be called Star. U.S. Hulu is a separate American service with its own accounts, plans and U.S. licences. Search the Swiss tile for the exact title first — it may already be there.
Can I watch Hulu in German, French or Italian?
On the Swiss Hulu tile, where the title offers it: Disney’s Swiss site runs in German, French, Italian and English, and Swisscom lists Disney+ languages as “German, French, Italian & English, if available”. U.S. Hulu’s only language add-on is Español.
Why does Hulu say I’m outside the US on Swisscom or Sunrise?
Because the request comes from a Swiss address. If you already use a U.S. connection, check the IPv6 line: 37% of Swiss users can reach sites over IPv6, and a Swiss IPv6 address can carry the request while the IPv4 checker shows the United States.
Does my US Hulu subscription work in Switzerland?
Not from a Swiss connection. Hulu’s on-demand rule says subscribers “are able to stream anywhere in the U.S. — including Puerto Rico and U.S. military bases”; its Live TV rule says subscribers are “not able to stream in U.S. territories, on U.S. military bases, or internationally.” Neither rule covers Switzerland.
Is Hulu included with Swisscom TV?
Disney+ can be added to Swisscom’s TV subscription as an extra package, and with it comes the Hulu tile. U.S. Hulu is not part of any Swiss TV offer.
Do I need a fast connection for Hulu in Switzerland?
Hulu’s guidance is roughly 3 Mbps for on-demand viewing, 8 for live and 16 for 4K. The Internet Society’s 2026 figures put the average Swiss fixed line at about 291 Mbps, so with the app connected a stutter usually comes from the route to the United States, not from your line.
Why does Hulu work on my laptop but not on my phone?
The phone adds two things the laptop does not have: an app store tied to your Apple or Google account country, and a mobile network that hands out its own Swiss address. Test on home Wi-Fi first, with the connection running on the phone itself.
Can I watch Hulu + Live TV in Switzerland?
No. Hulu is explicit that Live TV subscribers are “not able to stream in U.S. territories, on U.S. military bases, or internationally.” That rules out Switzerland on every connection.
Is it legal to use a VPN in Switzerland?
We are not aware of a Swiss rule against VPN software as such, but this is not legal advice — check locally if it matters to you. Separately, Hulu’s agreement asks subscribers not to use “any technology or technique to obscure or disguise your location” — a rule that applies whatever Swiss law says.
Does USip include Hulu?
No. USip provides a residential U.S. IP connection only. The Hulu account, the tier and the rights to every title are Hulu’s.
Is Hulu disappearing into Disney+?
Not on any announced date. Variety reported in October 2025 that no sunset date had been set for the Hulu app, and in 2026 Disney said it had no current plan to phase the app out. Standalone Hulu is still sold in the U.S., where its prices went up on 23 September 2026.

Start with the Hulu tile of Swiss Disney+: if the title is there, in your language, that is the whole answer. When it is not — a U.S. account, a title only U.S. Hulu carries — one careful attempt tells you more than an evening of guessing. Read both address lines, open a private window on a laptop, and let one ordinary episode run for a minute.
A pass means the address is settled and anything left is the account, the tier or the licence. A failure is only useful if you keep the exact message, so write it down before you touch another setting.
